Barcode in BusinessObjects report becomes text when report is saved as PDF

We have a BusinessObjects report that produces information as both text and barcodes. The barcode portion uses the "Code 3 of 9" (Code 39) font to represent the information.  When the report is saved as a PDF from BusinessObjects, the barcode portion appears as text.  Has anyone experienced this with BusinessObjects, and is there a solution?
Thanks.

The PSReportFactory service, CR Page Server, is only for viewing Crystal Report formats, and not instances in other formats.
For the other formats, ensure you list the SI_FILES property in the InfoStore query, then cast the resulting InfoObject to IContent.  The IContent interface support methods to stream the file content from the File Repository Server.

  • Deactivate Hyperlinks in reports when it is saved as pdf

    Hi,
i have a report designed in 10g, report contains bookmark/url on code(empcode) when clicked call another report for detail info, created the hyperlinks using SRW.SET_HYPERLINK('http://myserver.com/reports/rwservlet?userid=user/user123@mydb&server=rep_myserver&report=d:\myreport.rdf&destype=cache&desformat=pdf'').
The report works fine but the problem is that it is generated in pdf and when the user save pdf copy, the hyperlinks/url are still active i.e the detail report can be called by clicking the code without log in..
    - I Want to either deactivate the hyperlinks when user save the report.
    - or server prompts for login if the user is not logged in i.e directly accessed the report using browser.
    Thnks

Multimedia is not embedded in exported .pdf files.
You will need to relink them again in the .pdf using Adobe Acrobat Pro.

  • How to display a report in CrystalReportViewer when report is a Shortcut

    Hello,
In BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2, we have a shortcut to a report since we don't want to give a particular group of users access to the original folder. However, my objective is to display the "shortcut" report in a .NET web application.
What I'm running into seems to basically be permissions errors when setting the ReportSource of the CrystalReportViewer to the ID of the shortcut. In InfoView, the same user can click the shortcut and the report comes up with no problems.
So my question is how do I display this report in my application's viewer and still honor the privs of the shortcut, and of not the original report?
    Partial code listing...
    ' load the report
Dim reportId As String = Me.SessionState.ReportId
    myReportViewer.ReportSource = MyInfoStoreManager.GetReportSource(myEnterpriseSession, reportId)
    myReportViewer.EnterpriseLogon = myEnterpriseSession
The relevant code in the GetReportSource method is below...
' retrieve the report from BOXI Infostore
Dim objReportFactoryService As EnterpriseService = myEnterpriseSession.GetService("PSReportFactory")
    Dim objFactory As Viewing.PSReportFactory = CType(objReportFactoryService.Interface, Viewing.PSReportFactory)
    Dim objReportSource As ISCRReportSource
    objReportSource = objFactory.OpenReportSource(intReportId)
    Return objReportSource
    Thanks,
    Horus

Since you're using XI Release 2, there'd be limited options.  XI 3.x allow for greater control of rights inheritance, so you can specify no-view rights for the folder, but view rights for the contents of the folder.
So with XI Release 2, since you can't control inheritance, you'd restrict rights to the parent folder, but give each report within specific rights tailored to the User or UserGroup.  If you have lots of reports, the rights admin overhead may be problematic, since you'd need to manage them per-object.

  • Crystal Reports XI Crashes When Reporting on Event Log

I have successfully connected to the event log on my local Windows 7 pc, as well as two different Windows 2003 server event logs. The report runs fine unless I include the field "DESCRIPTION" on the report. If I include that field, CR crashes with the following error in my event log:

I've found a few sites online that others have had the same problem, but I've not found a solution. Any suggestions from anyone here??

Hi Carla, I moved this post to the database connectivity forum.
It may be due to the size or of the text included int he description or MS is reporting the wrong size of the field.
Other issue is XI is not supported on Windows 7 due to the age of CR and newness of Windows 7. CR XI is no longer patchable nor will any new OS platforms be added.
What you can do though is download CR XI R2 for free and use your XI keycode to install it, then go to the Keycode Request site and get one for R2:
Go to this link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc and download the trial version of CR XI R2 and use your XI keycode, then apply the patches which you can get to by clicking on the BusinessObjects tab above, then Downloads.
Test again and if it still fails you may have to wait for Service Pack 6 to come out, I believe we are adding Windows 7 to the supported OS's.
    Thank you

  • Garbled text when copy-pasted from a pdf document in Preview

I have this PDF document which I created in NeoOffice. When I copy some text from it, then paste it somewhere (or just go to Finder>Edit>Show Clipboard) I see garbled text. Or, if I go into the search field within Preview and type a word which I know exists in the PDF, it doesn't find it. But if I copy-paste it from the PDF document window into the search field, the copied term appears garbled in the search field itself, but I do get search results.
This happens only with this particular document, which I myself produced. No password/encryption or anything weird; just a straightforward print job from within NeoOffice.
    Any clues? Many thanks.

happens to me all the time in preview, copying something that I need to paste, like a URL. Quitting and relaunching usually solves it, but now that won't work on the text I am copying today.

  • Can i use HTML tag in text when sending contens as "Attachement(PDF)".

    Hi all!!
i try to add html tag on ibot email text column.
    is it possible?
    - in ibot delivery content.
    send content as Attachment(PDF)
"if sent as attachement, include this text" <--- mark this field
and below multi line input column, can i use html tag, for example,
    Yahoo
    thanks in advance.

    hi vingorius ,
No you cant include html but u can use variables
To add a variable in a text message to provide context for the iBot attachment
    1. Click the following option:
If sent as attachment, include this text
    2. Type the text into the text box with a session variable, a repository variable, or a presentation variable using the syntax shown in the following table:
    Variable Type
    Syntax
    Repository @{Variable_Name}
    Session @{NQ_SESSION.Variable_Name}
    Presentation @{Variable_Name}
For example, Dear, @{NQ_SESSION.Variable_Name}, here is your personalized Weekly Sales Territory Update.
NOTE: If you want to use the @ character, you need to precede it with the \ (back slash) character to separate it from the variable syntax. For example, Dear @{NQ_SESSION.DISPLAYNAME}, \@ New York, appears as Dear Joe Smith, @ New York.

  • How to: all the cell content to show up when printing (or saving to PDF)

    Hello, everyone!
On my website, I export data to a "CSV" file, but all it does is come up with all the data like this:
    "AAAAA" , "BBBBB" , "CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC" , " "2010-02-01 07:39:13" , "DDDDDDD"
What I do is select all, and save it into a .csv file, which is fine.
However, how do I get Numbers to open this .csv file and ORGANIZE it so that when I go to print it and open in Preview, all of the info actually shows up??
For example, the field "CCCCCCCCC" is for comments, thus can be long. When I open the file on Preview, not all of it shows up. It shows maybe a first line, and the rest is 'hidden'. So, I need numbers to automatically adjust the size of the cells according to the size of the content, so that all the info shows for when I go print it (or even save it as PDF).
I need this file in print.
    How do I organize/fix this??
(I'm obviously not very versed in Numbers or Excel)
Thanks so much for your help!

Two ways I can think of:
Select the column (click on the column letter). Up on the toolbar click the "wrap" checkbox. After doing that and while the column is still selected, increase the width of the column to your liking.
Or select the column then go to the Table Inspector and where it says "column width", click on "fit". This probably is not what you want because it will expand the column so all text fits on one line.
One other thing you may also want to do is go to Print View and reduce the size of the contents (i.e., your table) so it fits on one page or at least to the width of a page.

If you are using the "Paper Layout", check the Reports's "Before Report Value" property:

I am getting the following error when I try to export a Crystal Report file to a PDF format:
CRAXDRT Error Occured on Server. -2147189152: Cannot find the QE property
I am able to export the report to RTF or Excel format without getting any errors.  I am also able to export the same report if I remove the barcoded field.  The font I am using is Bar Code 39.  The version of Crystal Reports that I am using is 11.
I would like to know what the QE property is and more importantly how to resolve this issue.  Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I have a similar problem.    I am trying to print a report via the WEB.   I have the font installed on the webserver but the print function does a conversion to PDF prior to printing.   The barcode font does not appear in the PDF file and therefore does not pront properly. I dont get an error, it just kills the Barcode Font and prints the text.  I installed the Bacode functions on my design machine but what needs to go on the server besides the font ?
Did you ever resolve this issue?
    Thanks

  • RTF inccorect text when I export my Crystal Report to PDF

    Hello,
I'm facing a quite unusual problem.
I've developped a VB.NET 2008 application for my customer that creates Crystal Reports from manually-entered text.
There's a part where the user can enter RTF text in a RichTextBox control, or import from a RTF File.
    Here's what I do :
I'm typing a three-lines example in Word 2007 and save it in RTF.
Then I import it in my application into the RichTextBox.
When I display the report, everything looks fine, but when I export it to PDF, "i" letters are inserted after each "t" letter.
It looks like it appears only after a "bold"-ed text. Here's and example:  [http://screencast.com/t/31t4X86XBs3]
I'm using CrystalReports Editor Included in Visual Studio 2008.
Has anyone already encoutered that issue ?
    Regards,
    Guillaume

    See [this|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=29094456&messageID=7206473] forum thread for possible clues to a resolution. In a nut shell, as long as the Calibri font is up to date, the other two steps are;
    1) Ensure you are using the latest Service Pack as suggested by Jonathan
    2) See what USP10.dll is loading (use the [Modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] utility)
Also, if this is a win app, compile it to an exe and run the exe to see if the issue persists. (when running the app exe, the USP10 loaded should be from the CR bin directory. when running ion the .NET environment, the USP10 will load from win\system or other)

  • Getting bobj is undefined when report is viewed in Internet Explorer 8

    Background
We are running a web application on a server that has "BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 FP 2.6 Update" installed on it.
The server uses the 1.1 .net framework.
This web app can generate Crystal reports and display them either by exporting to pdf, or by using the CrystalReportViewer control.
(The CrystalDecisions references in the sln for the website are using version 12.0.1100.0.
The web app is a custom web app that is not defined in iis at the default level.  It lives as a virtual website under the default website and uses the crystalreportviewers12 virtual directory.)
when the browser displays a report by exporting to pdf, it works just fine.
    Here is our issue:
When the browser displays a report by using the CrystalReportViewer control using Internet Explorer 8 (IE8), it generates a javascript error:
    'bobj' is undefined
Here are a few peculiar things on this:
    - the report displays ok for other IE8 users (so the issue only occurs for select IE8 users).
    - the report displays ok in ie6.
    - One notable observation is that IE8 has different sets of options amongst browsers.  We compared 2 machines that didnu2019t work, with 1 machine that does work. All 3 sets of IE8 settings differ in one way or another.
Does anyone know if this is an issue that that can be fixed through an IE8 setting?  Or does it need to be fixed elsewhere?  Thank you!

    Hi Brownie,
We only support IE 8 in Compatibility mode. Try selecting that option in the Browser and test again
    Thank you

  • Crystal Report with text(csv) data file, can we set it as input param? C#

    Hi,
I am new to the forums and posted a question which belonged to the .net - SAP Crystal reports group.
Can someone help me with my problem? following is the thread that I have started.
Crystal Report with text(csv) data file, can we set it as input parameter?
    Thank you in advance.

Looking at the original thread, you are connecting to the text file via the DAO database engine:
"I added the text file as follow, new connection -> Access/Excell (DAO) -> select the file and the database type as text"
Thus I would use the same code for changing the text file as for changing an Access database. See Kbase [1218178 - Error: "Logon failed" when connecting to Access database in .NET application|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333233313338333133373338%7D.do] for more information. If that does not work, you may want to consider connecting via ODBC or feeding the data from the text file to and ADO .NET dataset and pointing the report at the dataset.
