Barcode reader in forms

is there any way to add functionality of bar code reader in forms

The Reader Extensions function in Acrobat Professional does not include enabling an interactive PDF form for the PaperFormsBarcode object.
The barcode turns grey in Reader because the form does not have the barcode right. On the other hand, any version of Acrobat provides barcode encoding. If you want to distribute a barcoded form for Reader clients, you must use LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2 to apply a barcode right.

  • How can I get data from barcode reader to forms

    Hi Experts,
    Forms 6i
    I would like to gather data from barcode reader.
    Any idea if you got please share.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I think its working same like keyboard.  Either you type the code manually or you can read it from scanner.  With the help of keyboard you can able to type anything on the cursor position, on the same way the barcode-scanner is also working.  Just like a copy and paste the scanner copies the data from physical device and paste it into your corrent cursor position.  There is no separate program codings needed for this job.

    I'm sorry, but I'm not able to answer this question. My purpose is only to add a question.
    -->Is it possible (perhaps Java Beans) to write word documents in the web environment?
    -->Another question: Is it possible to get the username and passwort with which the user is logged on onto windows? Do you have an example? All these questions belong to the web environment
    Thank you for your help

  • Multiple barcodes in a form

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement to use multiple barcodes in a form, and that too form is dynamic one. when we extract data out of these barcodes we get the content list (xml list), now is there any straight forwards approach to merge these individual list elements into a single XML which we will be using to re-merge with the form. (currently i am accessing each element as contentlist[0],contentlist[1].... which is not the right approach)
    I am setting the format for the barcodes as XML as we need to preserve the hierarchy of the schema.  Can anyone please advise the approach the i need to take in case of handling these multiple barcodes
    Thanks in Advance

    What I typically do in the case where there are multiple barcodes on a form is use the label as the parent element to the rest of the fields on the form. Loop through each of the barcodes in the results from the decode and then place each of them into their own result node of a single XML document. Doing this, you can change the number of barcodes on your form without having to re-code.

  • Adding Barcode to Adobe Form using Adobe LifeCycle Designer

    I am hoping someone can help me. I have created a PDF form and have added 2 3-of-9 barcodes to the form using Adobe LifeCycle Designer version 8.0. I see the barcodes when I prin tthe form from Adobe but when I run my web page to print out the form using pdf, only the default value shows on the printed form, no tthe barcode as expected? Do I need some other software?
    Thanks in advance
    D

    Hi Vasu,
    Yes you can add fonts on ADS.
    Adobe document services require access to fonts that are installed with the Font Manager Module. This module contains a number of Adobe bundled fonts installed in
    "/usr/sap/<SAPSID>/JC<xx>/j2ee/os_libs/adssap/FontManagerService/fonts/adobe".
    You can also add fonts obtained from other vendors. The types of fonts you can add are OpenType® (.otf), TrueType® (.ttf), and PostScript® Type 1 (.pfb/.pfm).
    Procedure
    To add fonts:
    1. Create a subdirectory called fonts below the
    "/usr/sap/<SAPSID>/SYS/global/AdobeDocumentServices/ FontManagerService" directory.
    Enter JC<xx> if your system is a SAP Web AS J2EE system.
    Enter DVEBMGS<xx> if your system is a SAP Web AS ABAP + J2EE system (J2EE Add-In).
    2. Create a subdirectory called customer below the fonts/ directory created in the previous step.
    3. Copy your fonts into the "/usrsap/<SAPSID>/SYS/global/AdobeDocumentServices/ FontManagerService/fonts/customer" directory.
    4. Restart the Document Services Font Manager for the changes to take effect.
    5. Also restart the application com.adobe/AdobeDocumentServices for the changes to take effect.

  • Capture data from barcode reader

    Hi,
    I would like to know if anyone knows any way of integrate a barcode reader with a web application.
    I need to create a web page to confirm the reception of letters, and i use the barcode reader to read the letter number. So the web page need to received the barcode number and make the automatic submit.
    Thanks in advanced,
    Ricardo

    when the data is read using the barcode reader u need to capture the event in ur app.Its going to be the "Carriage Return" Event. Atleast thats what occurs in our app.
    on the capture of that event ..u submit ur form....
    if u have the txtbox where u enter the data using thebarcode reader...then..
    <input type="text"  size="14" name="test" onkeydown="return validateEnterKey()">your javascript function...
    function validateEnterKey() {
         var keyChar
         var status = false;
         if (document.all) {
            keyChar = event.keyCode
         if (keyChar == 13) {
          document. formname.submit();
    }

  • Need Barcode Reading details

    Hi All,
    I would like know the details about Barcode Reader. As per th requirement i have capture the serial number using ABAP prog when the barcode is scanned. I don' have any idea about how to proceed.
    I would like to know the full details about the process. Whethr any SAP Standard program is available, how to configure the barcode, how to link th input field etc.
    thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Swetha

    Hi Swetha,
    Details information about SAP Barcodes
    A barcode solution consists of the following:
    - a barcode printer
    - a barcode reader
    - a mobile data collection application/program
    A barcode label is a special symbology to represent human readable information such as a material number or batch number
    in machine readable format.
    There are different symbologies for different applications and different industries. Luckily, you need not worry to much about that as the logistics supply chain has mostly standardized on 3 of 9 and 128 barcode symbologies - which all barcode readers support and which SAP support natively in it's printing protocols.
    You can print barcodes from SAP by modifying an existing output form.
    Behind every output form is a print program that collects all the data and then pass it to the form. The form contains the layout as well as the font, line and paragraph formats. These forms are designed using SAPScript (a very easy but frustratingly simplistic form format language) or SmartForms that is more of a graphical form design tool.
    Barcodes are nothing more than a font definition and is part of the style sheet associated with a particular SAPScript form. The most important aspect is to place a parameter in the line of the form that points to the data element that you want to represent as barcode on the form, i.e. material number. Next you need to set the font for that parameter value to one of the supported barcode symbologies.
    The next part of the equation can be a bit tricky as you will need to get a printer to print that barcode font. Regular laser printers does not normally print barcode fonts, only specialized industrial printers that is specifically designed to support that protocol and that uses specialized label media and heat transfer (resin) ribbon to create the sharp image required for barcodes.
    Not to fear though, there are two ways to get around this:
    - You can have your IT department do some research -
    most laser printers can accept a font cartridge/dimm chip (similar to computer memory), called a BarDIMM that will allow a laser printer to support the printing of barcodes.
    - Secondly, you can buy software that you can upload in your SAP print Server that will convert the barcode symbology as an image that will print on a regular laser printer. I found that this option results in less sharper barcodes. This option is really if you need to convert a large quantity of printers (>10) to support barcodes.
    Now you have a barcode printed - what next?
    Well there are two options, depending on your business requirements:
    - You can use an existing SAP transaction on a regular workstation and get a barcode wedge reader to hook up between the keyboard and the PC. These wedge readers comes in a wand or scanner format. There are even wireless wedge scanners available that allows you to roam a few yards from the workstation to scan a label. This approach is mostly used where you want to prevent human errors in typing in long material, batch or serial numbers in receiving or issuing of material. The problem is that it's just replacing the keyboard input and you are basically locked down in one location and have to bring all the material to that location to process.
    - Another solution is to use SAPConsole transactions
    or write your own ABAP Dialog programs that will fit onto a barcode enabled wireless handheld terminal and that will follow the business logic as executed on the shop floor.
    These programs are highly complex exercises in industrial engineering and ergonomics because of the limited screen sizes and limited ability to accept keyboard input. The user is instructed step-by-step and only scan and push F-keys to interact with the SAP system. Scan, scan, beep, beep, enter - highly automated.
    Thanks,
    Ruthra

  • Reader extended form

    Hi,
    We have a PDF which was created and javascripted in Designer 7.0
    The 1st page of the document has a docReady event which calls a function to display a welcome message box. When the form is opened, this message box is displayed only once.
    We sent the document to ADOBE to get certified and apply reader extension. The file we receive is 100 times the original size and when the document is opened in Reader 7.0.1, the welcome message box displays twice (one after the other).
    Any ideas on why this happens?
    Thanks in advance
    Jen
    [email protected]

    Hi,
    Problem 1: File increasing 100 times after ARES (i.e. Reader extension applied to file).
    Solution: Our logo image was bigger than actual size. Making the logo actual size and a static image kept the file size normal.
    Problem 2: Opening alert is executed in docReady event. This alert was being shown twice as we have a PRD417 barcode on our forms.
    Solution: Bug with Reader and will be fixed in 7.0.5
    Thanks

  • Custom Formatting of a ADF Read-Only Form

    From what I've worked with so far, the ADF read-only form will only allow you to pick the number of "rows" and "columns" to format data. Columns titles are aligned to the left and column values aligned to the right.
    But the specs I've been given are for a highly customized layout, with column titles above the column values, and with some rows containing only two columns of data and some rows requiring up to ten columns of data.
    How can I adjust the format of ADF components, like read-only forms, to customize the layout?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the advice Shay.
    What I need to do is take one view object's data (20 columns) and spread them out, in HTML terms, into multiple tables to provide various TR/TD formats on a single screen.
    Are you saying it is possible to layout a single view object's columns into different layout panels to mimic multiple HTML table formats?
    Thanks again.

  • How to get the value of a parameter/field in a ADF Read-Only Form

    Hi,
    My requirement is as follows. Could anyone shed some light on this issue.
    I am showing the records from db table using ADF Read-Only Form ( which uses ViewObject created for the table). Now I want to capture(get) the value of a field in this form and then have to invoke an action based on the value in this field. I mean to say the next page depends the value of a field in this form.
    Please suggest how can I achieve this functionality?
    Thanks in advance.
    ~Sivaji

    That's indeed what Sivaji needs.
    In the page definition you can add a value to the parameters of a certain method. Like RJundi mentioned, point to the attribute of the current row.
    Example:
    The value of the read only textfield will be something like this:
    #{bindings.EmployeeName.inputValue}points to an attribute value in the pageDef of the page:
        <attributeValues id="EmployeeName" IterBinding="AllEmployees">
          <AttrNames>
            <Item Value="EmployeeName"/>
          </AttrNames>
        </attributeValues>The attribute value has also an iterator binding defined in the page def:
        <iterator id="AllEmployees" RangeSize="10"
                  Binds="AllEmployees" DataControl="MyService"/>If you want to 'pass' the attribute of the current row to the service, you can create a methodaction (eg: public void printEmpName(String name)) in the page def or you can drop the method from the datacontrol on to the page. After dropping the method, a screen will appear asking to fill in a value for the parameter ('name' in this example). Fill in '#{bindings.EmployeeName.inputValue}' if you want to pass the EmployeeName of the current row.
    Hope it helps,

    you can not. You get the form entries through the request object.

  • How to get the key values of record in ADF Read-only Form?

    Hi
    I am using ADF Business Component VO.
    I have a search page( ADF Search Form) and I am displaying the results of the search in a ADF Read-Only Table( only few columns are shown) .Then by selecting a record and clicking on the button 'View' , I am navigating to a different page(ADF Read-Only Form) to show all the columns of the table for the selected record.
    In the second page, I have one more button 'view child details'.Now when I click on this view child details button, I have to show another page(ADF Read-Only Form) which fetches the data from one of the child tables of parent record.
    My idea is to create a ViewLink between the parent and child tables.( I have more than 15 child tables for a parent table).
    Is there anyother way to achieve this functionality?
    Please respond ASAP.
    Thanks in advance.

    Sijav,
    ASAP?
    Anyway - yes, you can do this with a view link. When you add the child table to the application model, make sure you actually add it as a child of the parent table instance (select the parent VO first, then use the shuttle to add it). This way, the parent->child relationship should be coordinated for you automatically. You should not need to get the key values manually.
    Then, when you create the page to show the detail table, make sure you use the child table that is shown as a child of the parent table in the data control palette (expand parent table to see the child).
    Hope this helps,
    John
