Barcodes and Sapscript

Hello Experts,
We are trying to print barcodes via sapscript.  We have a DIMM card on our HP printer.  We are able to print the barcode on the form using sapscript, but it will not scan.
We were able to generate a barcode using a form coded in Smartforms and it scans, but the SAPscript version does not scan.  We would rather not recode our form in Smartforms, since we really just want to add a barcode to it.
Any ideas would be appreciated!
Debbie

  • Inserting A Barcode in SapScript

    Hi,
Can anyone help in inserting a barcode in Sapscript....... the barcode type I use is EAN128 and the printer is HP.... as sap scripts are client dependent does this have any effect on the printer I use??? Suppose if the client currentlyy using HP printer wanted to change to another printer with different configuration then my program suppors this barcode.....I mean is there any solution where my program works for different printers.......?

    Hi!
To include a barcode in your script, you will have to create a character format with the required Barcode format in your script. Use this character format to write the contents in the window. This barcode will be printed correctly as long as the printer would identify the barcode format. The required drivers should be installed.
    Cheers!

  • Scanning with barcodes and Acrobat 9 Pro

We have an inhouse program that uses a barcode to send scanned papers (pdf) to a specific location on our network. There is a different barcode for everyone so that whatever they scan goes to their "queue".
Is it possible to use Acrobat 9 Pro
to generate a barcode and have it do as above eliminating this other program? If so, could you point me in the right direction please?
    Thank you in advance.

Sounds like you may need to do a little testing.

  • Barcode and Read Only Issue

Hi,  I submitted this question in LiveCycle Designer and probably should have posted it here....
I have a form that was imported from a PDF document in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2.  I added a 3 of 9 barcode and the Default value is the form number (*1.764903.105NFS*).  I do not want a user to be able to click on the barcode, so I made it Read Only.  When this form is opened in Adobe Acrobat, I'm not able to click on the barcode, however, when this form is opened in Adobe Reader, I'm able to click on the barcode and the value displays (the form number) - which is what I do NOT want to happen. I have added Adobe Reader Extensions and I'm opening the form in Adobe Reader 9.4.
Also having the same barcode issue with forms that are designed in LC Designer.

Uncheck Read Only on the song files in Windows Exploder.

  • ALV Programming and Sapscript...

    Hi,
Till date i have only worked in standard reports, now i have to work on ALV report and Sapscript, so if any one have any basic tutorial on ALV and Sapscript, pls email me.

    Hi arup,
    1. This is the most simple form of alv.
    2. Minimum, this much coding is required for a normal alv.
The two main FMs for any alv programming are.
    <b>REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY
    REUSE_ALV_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE</b>
    3. just copy paste to get a taste of it.

  • Primary Barcode and Secondary Barcode

    Hi Experts ,
Please let me know if its a good practice to have a Primary Barcode with with product number and a secondary barcode with fields of batch number,Expiration date and quantity in the product label.
Also<b> i would like to know</b> if we need to have a <b>secondary barcode </b>if we have a Storage unit number Barcode on the pallet . Will the storage unit barcode give the information of materials or will the fields get populated in the RF device once we scan the SU barcode .
If its possible to populate the fields (material number, batch, quantity and expiration date ) once we scan the SU Barcode then i ll just give a <b>proposal </b>to have only a primary barcode and a SU barcode.
    Your advise will be appreciated.
    Regards
    Albert.

Then I'm going to stick with my original response.
    Looking at the documentation:
    http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/print_hit_summary?search_string=%22secondary+index%22
the term "secondary index" seems to be used primarily in conjunction with index-organised tables (where the primary key / primary index is part and parcel of the table) and with xpath.

Our organization uses an Oracle database hosted on a Unix platform and one of our data processing outputs is a “stuffer” document that has a barcode, and Unix jobs automatically send the document to a printer.
Is there a way, or does Adobe have a product or solution, to create a PDF version of the document including the barcode, before it’s sent to a printer?

What format is the document that is printed? Or what technology is used to format the printer? There isn't a standard way of doing things in Unix.

i tried to do comparision of the program and sapscript of the 2 client and both are same..
all setting is completed (NACE,MN04 etc) its only the one field not being display when i do my testing in the training client.
i tried to use debug on training client and noticed that the field for vendor name is not being populated... but its working fine in the config client..same set up of vendor etc.

Make sure the Vendor number and associated information exist in that client as well. Each client may very well have different Vendor numbers

I have came across the link below which tells to print the label
    http://scn.sap.com/community/manufacturing/mii/blog/2014/08/17/industrial-label-printing-with-mii
    In the above document, I can send only the string as a message in the PCo query CALL SEND(address=’127.0.0.1’, port=’20000’, message=’Hello World’);
Is that possible to send the document to the printer?
I am using the PDF action block. Can any one tell me how to print the document automatically?
Also, if my printer is connected to client, how it can be printed from client PC?

  • Idoc generation and reprint for smartforms and sapscripts

    Dear Experts,
Currently our scenario is as below.
We are using XML for all outputs. once IDOC is generated it is passed to XML port and print is issued.
To reprint IDOC we have a customised program where in we can enter idoc number and print output.
Now we are converting all to smartforms and at some places sapscript. So how to setup reprint for idocs in smartforms and  sapscript as it is done for sapscripts. Do we need to make some config in WE19 to issue smart forms and sapscripts.
If possible please give all steps right from preparing structures till reprint.
Can anyone help with detailed solutions.

  • What are Smartforms and SAPscripts?

    Hey Everyone,
Where do we use Smartforms and SAPscripts...how to we create these...if u have step step procedures that will be helpful...
    Thanks in Advance...
    Cheers:
    Jim

    Smartform is client indep.
    Scripts is client dependent.
    Smartform will generate function module.
    Script will not.
    Tcode for scripts is se71
    Tcode for smartforms is smartforms
go to sap library ............ their u can find the step by step procedure............
SAP Smart Forms is introduced in SAP Basis Release 4.6C as the tool for creating and maintaining forms.
SAP Smart Forms allow you to execute simple modifications to the form and in the form logic by using simple graphical tools; in 90% of all cases, this won't include any programming effort. Thus, a power user without any programming knowledge can configure forms with data from an SAP System for the relevant business processes.
Execute transaction SMARTFORMS to start SAP Smart Forms.
Key Benefits of SAP Smart Forms:
SAP Smart Forms allows you to reduce considerably the implementation costs of mySAP.com solutions since forms can be adjusted in minimum time. You design a form using the graphical Form Painter and the graphical Table Painter. The form logic is represented by a hierarchy structure (tree structure) that consists of individual nodes, such as nodes for global settings, nodes for texts, nodes for output tables, or nodes for graphics.
To make changes, use Drag & Drop, Copy & Paste, and select different attributes. These actions do not include writing of coding lines or using a Script language.
Using your form description maintained in the Form Builder, Smart Forms generates a function module that encapsulates layout, content and form logic. So you do not need a group of function modules to print a form, but only one. For Web publishing, the system provides a generated XML output of the processed form. Smart Forms provides a data stream called XML for Smart Forms (XSF) to allow the use of 3rd party printing tools. XSF passes form content from R/3 to an external product without passing any layout information about the Smart Form.
To print a form, you need a program for data retrieval and a Smart Form that contains the entire from logic. As data retrieval and form logic are separated, you must only adapt the Smart Form if changes to the form logic are necessary. The application program passes the data via a function module interface to the Smart Form. When activating the Smart Form, the system automatically generates a function module. At runtime, the system processes this function module.
You can insert static and dynamic tables. This includes line feeds in individual table cells, triggering events for table headings and subtotals, and sorting data before output.
You can check individual nodes as well as the entire form and find any existing errors in the tree structure. The data flow analysis checks whether all fields (variables) have a defined value at the moment they are displayed.
SAP Smart Forms allow you to include graphics, which you can display either as part of the form or as background graphics. You use background graphics to copy the layout of an existing (scanned) form or to lend forms a company-specific look. During printout, you can suppress the background graphic, if desired.
SAP Smart Forms also support postage optimizing.

Example Forms Available in Standard SAP R/3
    SF_EXAMPLE_01
Simple example; invoice with table output of flight booking for one customer
    SF_EXAMPLE_02
Similar to SF_EXAMPLE_01 but with subtotals
    SF_EXAMPLE_03
Similar to SF_EXAMPLE_02, whereby several customers are selected in the application program; the form is called for each customer and all form outputs are included in an output request.

  • Smart Forms and Sapscripts?

I have read that one of the differences between smartforms and sapscript is that smartform is client independent while sapscript is client dependent. Can anyone please explain me why it is so?

    example u create a script in client 800 .
take that script name and go to another client 810 and run the script at that time u know the difference .
for smartform  it is client independent because some function modules are created dynamically so u can run this
    form in any client .
