Basic code editor tools missing? Extensions?

Is there really no batch search-and-replace, GREP replacement, or HTML element autocompletion? Assumed this 'new' tool could perform at least at a level the code editor DW CS3 (or earlier?) could... love the idea of the in-place related file editor but without these basic features I'm back to BBEdit for now.
Also: thought maybe adding extensions would expand functionality, but there dont seem to be any??? Is there a resource somewhere, as the Code forum returns 0 results as does Google.

Hi Aaron,
Well, there's a reason we call it a "preview release" rather than "1.0" :-)  There are plenty of features that aren't thre or aren't fully polished yet... but actually many of the things you mentioned are available already:
"GREP replacement" -- I assume you mean search-replace using a regexp?  If you open the Replace bar you can use regexps (note the label next to the input field describing the "/.../" syntax).
HTML element code hinting -- You should get code hints for tag names and attribute names.  If you're not seeing that, can you share your HTML file so we can investigate?
There's also CSS code hinting in the latest Edge Code, fwiw.  And there will be JS code hinting in the bext release.
Extensions are listed on the main open source project page, here: https://github.com/adobe/brackets/wiki/Brackets-Extensions.  We're working on building a more polished extension browse/install experience, however.
The one thing on your list that's missing is search-replace across multiple files at once.  You can track our progress on that or upvote the user story here, in our Trello backlog.
Hope that helps,
- Peter

  • SQL Developer 3.0.03  Code Editor Save Actions missing from menu

I had just gotten a new notebook and installed latest version of Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.03. Seems Auto Save settings are enabled by default. I am prompted each time I switch off from SQL Dev to another app or window to Save the SQL code I am testing. I don't want to necessarily save it each time so I have to save or cancel each time I switch windows. I checked the documentation Help menu and it directed me to the Code Editor section > Save Actions menu to adjust settings. This category does not exist (or is not visible for me) to check settings and make changes. I am Admin on machine and installer of the app so not sure if it is some security setting I am not aware of. Or is this the wrong Help documentation for this version?
This version is much different from older version I was using. Any thougts on this before I remove and re-install an older version?
    Thanks,
    Joe

many thanks for your reply jim. i see the settings for 'prompt for save file on close'. this is checked by default and that is fine. if i have a sql worksheet open, as soon as i switch to another window (i.e. visual studio app), i get prompted to save the file. that is the strange behavior i've been seeing with this version.
i will try to update to 3.0.04 and see if that resolves. i appreciate your help.

  • Jdeveloper code review tools

    Hi All,
I wanna integrate code review plugins like checkstyle /pmd and Find bugs with jdeveloper 11.1.2.
As by my knowledge and oracle white papers none of them are compatible with jdevloper version 11.1.2
please tell me if any such code review plugin tools compatible with jdevloper 11.1.2 is there or not.
If any of you using such plugins, Plz share their download links.

In case you missed it - JDeveloper has a built-in code review tool - the audit feature (under the run menu).
It has many built in rules - and you can extend it with other rules:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/jdevextensions/entry/don_t_fear_the_audit1
There is a PMD extension for JDeveloper 11.1.* but someone will need to update it to 11.1.2 if you want to use it.
    Basic upgrade procedure is here:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/jdevextensions/entry/migrating_an_existing_extension_to1
You can also use command line interface of those tools and just do simple integration with the tools->external tools option.

  • How to add a font for use by the code editor

    Version 3.0.04 windows
found Preferences -> Code Editor -> Fonts
Did not see the font I would like to use in the list. The font is terminal. The font can be displayed in Control Panel -> fonts in windows.
In the help I found Edit Font Location but could not find the dialog box described in the help
Is there a procedure to add the font so SQL Dev can use it?
    Thanks

    Hi Dag,
Apparently editing Font Location in 3.0 applies only to ...

  • How to change background color in code editor?

Hi. Some of the pre-selectable Schemes under Tools->Preferences->Code Editor->PL/SQL Syntax Color (e. g. Ocean) have a "global" default background color that applies to all styles. How can I edit this color for my own color scheme?
    (SQL Developer version 3.1.07)

    Jeff,
if you try to change all the plsql keywords to the same background color (that is not either white or black or blue) via the options panel in SQL Developer (Code Editor > PLSQL syntax colors), you will get the new background color in the worksheet only for the areas with plsql text, while the areas without any text will have the same background color as the base color scheme you started with. This means that there is no way to change the "general background" color via the options panel, but you have to use the same background color of one of the predefined color schemes.
This seems to me a bug, but probably it's not considered high priority, so it will not be fixed for the time being.
I would like to stress the fact that being able to change the color scheme of the development environment that you use every day about 8 hours a day can make quite a difference on your eyes at the end of the day.
    Thanks,
    Paolo

    1) a method parameter, to assign it to a new field
    2) a method declaration. to create the method in a supertype
    3) highlight source code according to its semantics (for example: static fields, local variables, static method invocations
    4) Highlight method exit points (really helps)
    5) Mark locations of thrown exceptions (Easy look up of exceptions)

  • What's all this "possible midi conflict", "missing extensions" jazz?

Recently I installed Leopard, 2gb of Ram, and Pro 8 in my Powermac. I have an emagic amt8 and a motu 828mkII connected. I installed the latest motu drivers. No problem.
A little later I installed the exact same thing on my friend's powermac, which is the same generation as mine. He has a motu 828mkII and an 8pre daisy chained to the mac. Every time we launch logic we get "possible midi conflict...old drivers..blah blah", and the "missing extensions...go to Pace website...blah blah..." After closing those boxes (often several times for the "possible midi conflict") logic launches and says "core midi not available", or some such.
We've learned that we simply need to quit logic and relaunch and the problem usually goes away and everything works as it should. Sometimes I have to do the routine twice. This happens even if I quit logic and launch it the same day.
Going to the Pace website didn't help. I could find no old drivers to remove. My friend's system used to have Pro Tools on it, but I think those drivers are gone. I've messed with audio/midi setup in utilities. I've gone to the library to try to find old drivers.
I know other people have complained of similar problems. Can anyone shed any new light on this?

Open Hard Drive go to library-> Audio-> Midi Drivers. Move drivers to Trash but don't trash.
Now go to library->Audio->Plug-Ins->Components. Drag this folder to desktop & move contents of this folder to trash but again don't trash anything yet. Now still in the hard drive section go to your user file i.e the house logo with your name next to it. Go Library->Audio->Plug-Ins->Components & check this file is empty. It should be but if not do the same as with the previous component file. Restart the computer & try opening Logic. Hopefully it should work now. You'll have to decide whether you want to trash the drivers if you don't use them or if you want to get in touch with the third party company to open the iLock but for the time being Logic should work

  • Source Code Editor Framework for Flex

    Dear Flex Forum members:
As a Flex newbie a quite important question in relation to the "Flex frameworks world" still remains to me, even after some google search sessions:
Does there exist any (preferably free) Flex framework or Flex component covering the functionality of a source code editor with syntax highlighting and syntax checking? -- Anything comparable to the Editor Framework within the Eclipse RCP (Rich Client Platform) or even to the Eclipse GEF (Graphical Editor Framework)?
The background is as follows (and as described in more detail in my first post to this forum):
An Online Shop Management Component shall offer the ShopManager to specify the products and offers in some declarative way and after a pre-defined grammar in place. The application frontend must be realized in Flex, and that's the reason why I'm now searching for:
some kind of textual or graphical editor framework for realizing the Shop Manager's editor which shall support him/her in creating shop specifications/configurations in a grammar-conforming way through syntax color highlighting and syntax checking (error feedback), and
this editor framework being intended for Flex (i.e., being a flex framework)
In some way, much of the editing/modeling functionality is identical to the one offered by Flex Builder (Eclipse application), but in my case this functionality must be exposed as web application (Flex component running on the browser).
Aps., would it also be possible to realize the Shop Management Component as AIR app, distribute it through a web page and run it locally on the Shop Managers client desktop???
Which products/frameworks do you know for accomplishing this task?
Thank you very much for any help.
    Best regards
    Alessandro

Since people complain about Flex's basic rich text editor (which is a basic building block of the kind of framework you're discussing), I doub't you'll find what you need out of the box anywhere...

  • Is it possible to make a code editor in Java?

I'm new to java and so i'd like to know if it would be possible to make a simple code editor for Mobile Phones with Java.
The code editor will be for GML.
I'd like to make it so that the code can be easily edited on a wide range Mobile phones (not necissarily smart phones).
If this is possible, I would greatly appreaciate any help or advice. Thanks.

Looks like I'll have to learn the hard way :SIMHO, one should woodshed it, work on programming basics and object-oriented programming fundamentals, in Java for at least one year before attempting to write any GUI code. Even day in this forum we see what code looks like when this advice is not followed.my first java code 5 years ago was an applet with a changing 2d function being animated.
it worked after 2 grueling days and i was so happy because visual feedback was my only motivation.
so its hard to say. granted, my code was awful for a long time.I'm thinking of the guy last week who had Swing+JDBC code and kept pestering for help on an obvious syntax error (he was invoking a method with no arguments when it was defined to take a String array) and for the life of him, he couldn't see the error or understand the error message. Posters kept telling him to learn the fundamentals first, but he was stubborn and kept demanding someone fix his syntax error...

  • Get currently opened file in code editor

    Hi,
I am writing an extension for Oracle Jdeveloper. I have created a view and now I need to access the currently opened file in the code editor. However, all I get is the context of my own view:
    Context.newIdeContext(this);
But how can I get the Code Editor and its currently opened file? Any ideas?

    hi user474075
I have noticed something similar for which I have created service request 3-1764420131 ,
which resulted in bug 9740870 , "CODE STYLE USE TAB CHARACTER ISSUE"
for which "... We are waiting for the review process of the bug to be completed. ... "
So, if you can create your own service request (at http://support.oracle.com ) and refer to bug 9740870 that might speed things up.

  • The best source code editor?

    Hi,
I have just started up with Java and I am looking for a source code editor like emacs but for Windows.
Tried out NotePad++ but I think it just did not cut it.
Something a little more sophisticated, but not a large IDE...
    Any thoughts?
    /Martin

"like emacs" and "not a large IDE"? you're confusing me ...
On a more serious note: Isn't there a Windows version of Emacs? I know there is one for vim. I use EmEditor on windows, but I do use Eclipse mainly, so it's really just for very basic text-file edits.
