Basic Installation Which Bits?

Hi,
There is lots of different bits in the /tech/xml area. Is there a faq describing which bits do what, and how to install them. I'm trying to work through some of the examples in 'Building Oracle XML Applications' (A great book!) but I'm just a bit confused about what to install where (and how and in what order :)
Thanks,
Phil Hersh

The 8.1.7 release comes with the XML Parser for Java and the XML Parser for PL/SQL pre-installed in the SYS schema. So, for Chapter 5 you don't need to do any additional loading.
You will have to:
[list][*]Login as SYS[*]GRANT EXECUTE ON XMLPARSER TO XMLBOOK;[*]GRANT EXECUTE ON XSLPROCESSOR TO XMLBOOK;[*]GRANT EXECUTE ON XMLDOM TO XMLBOOK;[list]
You'll also need to create public synonyms and grant execute on all the oracle/xml% classes that are pre-installed if you want another user like XMLBOOK to be able to resolve and use the pre-loaded version of the XML Parser v2.

  • Windows 8.1 64 bit installs 32 bit browser (Internet Explorer 11) but user would go on installing 64 bit programs which 32 bit browser (Internet Explorer 11) rejects, how to stop this?

For many days I searched for answer of how an Internet Explorer add-on installed because few websites won't run without it, but Windows OS or Internet Explorer itself won't allow install of these add-ons.
    Please note following problems:
    1. Windows 8.1 64 bit operating system installs 32 bit Internet Explorer 11, but this 32 bit Internet Explorer won't accept 64 bit add-ons which I tried to install for 64 bit Windows 8.1, incompatibility of 64 bit and 32 bit which
I knew already but didn't clicked even on posting forum questions not before 'ORACLE's message in yellow.
    2. For 64 bit Windows I kept on trying to install 64 bit add-ons for Internet Explorer, which won't install or would send message 'Incompatible', once default installations of these add-on's are disturbed but not completely uninstalled, new installations
won't be entertained at all, only way is reinstall of Internet Explorer.
    3. Therefore I installed Apple's 'Safari', which also displayed same messages, but allowed install of 'Quick Time', and now I listen to my favourite songs on a great sound system of a website.
    4. Windows needs correction for this.
    Best of Luck.

Use the 32-bit version of IE. All rivals are 32-bit, no need for x64, a browser is not so big.

10.2.0.1 is not supported/certified on Win 2008, so expect issues with the install and/or with using the software.
Why cannot you use a supported version - minimum is 10.2.0.4, which is only available to customers with an Extended Support contract

I have just started to use Muse for our design agency and learning how to build ourselves a new site, I have managed to create a basic lightbox which contains sliding images, what I need to do now is have a pop up window which goes into detail about the projects, what I would like is a piece of text  or icon that when you roll over it and then click a separate window pops up with additional information in, once finished reading the info you can then click to close the box, any advice on how to do this?

The best way to do what you're asking is with the Composition widget. Start with the Tooltip preset, which, by default shows the info on rollover. You can change the option to show on click, which is what you're after. You can also add the close button or have the info disappear on rollout.

x86 = 32 bit. I'd ask them more over here.

    64 bit.
32 bit won't use all your computer's ram.
64 bit allows you to run 32 bit programs
    Your computer is 64 bit
    New programs use 64 bit.
There is no reason to use the 32 bit version of Windows.

What are you talking about exactly?  There is normally no need to install anything to read or write Asian languages on your Mac.  Tell us what language for starters and what it is you think you can't do now.

  • Can we run MiniSap in Windows7 Home Basic Edition(64 bit)

Hello I found a thread on this topic but no answer.
So my questions is as well: Can I run MiniSap on Windows7 Home Basic Edition(64 bit)  when I  install the loopback adapter to enable network capability of the Windows 7
Thank you very much for your answers.
    Thomas Markl

You can find the official downloads on the SAP Developer Network (SDN). If you haven't got an account yet, you'll have to sign up for it. You'll also need the account for the free Mini SAP license renewals. The most recent NetWeaver versions currently available are NetWeaver 7.02 SP6 for 32 bit and NetWeaver 7.03 SP4 for 64 bit. The free download has a size of 3.8 GB (32 bit) or 3.9 GB (64 bit).

  • Providing configuration file for SQL 2012 Express installation which installing HPC 2012 R2

    Hi guys,
I need to know if there is any way to provide configuration file for SQL 2012 Express installation which installing HPC 2012 R2?
I am scripting installation on HPC 2012 R2 with default SQL 2012 Express edition but I am not able to find any option to provide a configuation file for SQL 2012 Express installaiton.
    Thanks,
    Vivs.

    Hi Vivs,
As my understanding, you want to generate a configuration file and install SQL Server 2012 express edition using that configuration file.
If that is the case, firstly, you could generate the configuration file following the steps below since express edition is run in AutoAdvance mode which skips "Ready to Install" page.
1.Double-click SQL Server installation file in your local drive, you will see that the file will be extracted to a temporary folder. Please make a note of what directory it is extracted to. For example, it could be in c:\ followed by a folder name which
will be a set of random letters and numbers "gy7h8hjhhj67rfs7".
2.Cancel installation. Then click on the Start button on the task bar, click run, type the command cmd.exe, and go to that directory via cmd.
    3.Execute the following command: setup.exe /ACTION=INSTALL /UIMODE=Normal
4.Follow the wizard through to the 'Ready to Install' page. The path to the configuration file is specified in the 'Ready to Install' page in the configuration file path section.
5.Cancel the setup without actually completing the installation, to generate the INI file.
Secondly, to install SQL Server using Command Prompt, go to the SQL Server installation media root (the temporary folder) from the command prompt and specify the ConfigurationFile.ini as a parameter as shown below.
    Setup.exe /ConfigurationFile=ConfigurationFile.INI
For more information about the process, please refer to the article:

  • Starting slow... Basic installation and configuration

Let me preface by saying that I took the AM class last year about this time... Between the class materials and the online documentation, though, I'm finding that there isn't a single clear and concise "getting started" document out there. There are a lot of good things available but I'm looking for one doc that walks through the installation & configuration process from top to bottom. The best I've come across is http://www.javapassion.com/handsonlabs/IdentityWebServices/ but that appears to have been written for an older version than what is currently available.
So, I appeal to the community wisdom. Does anybody have or know of a cookbook or howto document that would walk take someone who has never seen Access Manager and walk them through the basic installation and configuration process for a Windows platform? I realize there is a lot more to be done after these steps but that'll come later.
    Thanks,
    James

This is for Access Manager 7.0

I've used it, found it on this page. http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/coll/1292.1

  • How to know which bit version (32 or 64 bit) of jdk

    hi,
i have installed java in my system and i would like to know whether it is 32 bit platform or 64 bit plaform of jdk.
    by using
    java -version
we can know the jdk version ,in the same way do we have any command to know the bit version ?
could you please let me know how to do that ?

I think we can find the bit size base on the dierctory under which it installed. See some details here:
    Java 1.1.8 installs in /usr/jdk_base
    Java 1.2.2 installs in /usr/java_dev2
    Java 1.3.0 installs in /usr/java130
    Java 1.3.1 64-bit installs in /usr/java13_64
    Java 1.3.1 installs in /usr/java131
    Java 1.4 64-bit installs in /usr/java14_64
    Java 1.4 installs in /usr/java14
    Java 5 64-bit installs in /usr/java5_64
    Java 5 32-bit installs in /usr/java5

  • Where is download for Windows Universal Installer, 64-bit?

Is "Universal Installer" for Windows part of the download "ODAC" installation .zip?
    Should I get a *64-bit* download for Win 7 which is 64-bit?
    I found only a 32-bit ODAC download.

  • Installation 64-bit Versions of Windows?

    Hello,
Has anyone successfully installed OBIEE on 64-bit version of Windows? Specifically I am installing OBIEE 10.1.3.3.2 (which is a 32-bit install) on 64-bit Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 that runs with 32-bit emulation.
The first difference I noticed is that you do not find the ODBC driver when you go to Start > Admin Tools > Data Sources. You actually have to go to C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe to find the BI Server driver. So my questions…
    (1) Is this behavior to be expected?
    (2) Will it cause any problems?
    (3) Are there any other nuances of installing OBIEE on 64-bit with 32-bit emulation?
    (4) Is this configuration actually support as it says in the documentation?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
I also observed the same situation. I found that i am not able to run dashboards and answers url after this and even localhost urls. I had to make the Oci4j as webservices for the installation and it is working fine now.
But, if you find anyother solution or approach to use IIS as webserver.pls let me know.
    Thanks in advance
    Harish

  • Essbase installation 64 bit

I am trying to install essbase on windows server 2008 r2. Everything passes but when I run the install tool and choose components individually I can't choose Essbase services server 64 bit the error is EPMINS-01047 the ohs assembly is missing. I can't find any information as to which download package it is in. I went through the installation once and I got everthing but the essbase server service. I have installed
    Foundation Documents
    v21741-01
    Performance Management System Installer
    v21750-01
    Performance Management System
    v21752-01
    v21753-01
    v21754-01
    v20802-01
    Oracel Essbase
    v20783-01
    v21755-01
    What part am I missing?
    Thanks
    Dean Scott

Yeah, I loaded that twice just to be sure. No difference. The only modules available to install are financial reporting and foundation (I'm using SQL Server 2005, Windows 7, 32-bit). The rest indicate I'm missing the series of EPMIN-01045 thru 01051. How do you reconcile the EPMINS numbers (whatever they are) with the dowload "Part Numbers" on the Media Pack?
Thanks for jumping in to help.
