Basic Report Question

I am using Oracle 9iAS Reports.
I have a requirement to change an existing report .rdf file.
Can i just change the report and save back to default directory to apply the change or is there something else i need to do ?
The report in question creates a word document.
The reason behind my question is that if it doesn't work i can presumably just put the old report back again ?

Just make a backup copy of your report .rdf file. So after changing the report and it doesn't work, you can put back the backup copy.
Make sure you do not overwrite the word document that the report will create. Make also a backup of the word document, I would say.

- does iPhoto apply any compression or change images in any way when they

- after images are imported, can the original source folder of images be deleted off of the mac?

iPhoto is a consumer level photo organiser, not a server. It's possible to share photos but libraries are very difficult and fraught with the danger of database corruption. Some have reported success.
Is it possible to password protect or secure certain images in the library so they can not be seen by anyone?
No. The best I can suggest there is to create a second library and store it in a secure area like a protected dmg. But remember, you can only have one library open at a time.
After photos are deleted from iPhoto, are there any remaining traces or cached files anywhere other than the trash
If you delete photos from iPhoto and empty the iPhoto trash then the pics are removed from the Finder as well. They remain as findable as any other deleted file from that point, which is, very, if the searcher in knowledgeable.

Object class deployment - Basic form question

OK, I subclass calendar object from Oracle provided standard
object class. What do I need to deploy to use this form now
apart from calendar.pll and my fmx. What about the object class
from which I sub-class. Do I need to compile and deploy that
also? How will form resolve this on run time the parent object
class as I really did not copy, just sub class and we do not
deploy original class? Basic form question. Thanks.

You can set the "help" property on the field (which gives you the little "information" icon link beside the field).
You could also try adding another field of another class above or below:

Financial Reporting Question - Formula row Issue

Hello,
I have a financial reporting question and would like to have your inputs in order to achieve what I am trying to do.
I have a report with two grids – grid 1 & grid 2. And there is a formula row in grid 2 that is “change between the two years” worth of data. The year and period combination is in the page of the grids.
Formula row (in grid 2) = ((Grid1.[b,6]) - [b,6]) / [b,6]
The issue is when I change the Page selection in Grid 1 the formula in grid 2 doesn’t get updated values unless and until I make a change in the grid 2 Page selection too. If I don’t make any changes in the page selection in grid 2 it keeps the data (looks like it is still considering the previously retrieved/calculated values) as it is without any update.
How can I make the formula row in grid 2 dynamic so that it gets updated no matter what combination of page selection I make in either grid 1 or grid 2 or even if I just change something in grid 1 and nothing in grid 2?
Please let me know your inputs. Any help is appreciated.

Page POV will be specific to the grid.Why can't you try to have the POV at the report level.In the HTML view of the report,the report will give you a Drop Down to select POV for all Grids.Select All Grids option and then set the POV which will be same for both the grids (which you want) and all your formulas will work.

Updateable Report Question.

Currently I am developing an XE application, so I think that is apex 2.0.
Here is an example of what I wish to achieve.
Suppose I have an emp table with columns
dept, id, name and comment.
I create an SQL report as
SELECT * from emp;
I only wish to see the name and comment columns, so in the report attributes I un-tick show the columns dept and id.
I want the user to be able to update the comment column, So I edit the comment column and in “Tabular Form Element” I change the “Display As” from “Standard Report Column” to “Text Field”
This now lets me edit the data in the column in the report.
Now want to add in an on change event to call a javascript routine that will use ajax to do the actual update.
My problem is that I need to pass in the “hidden” dept and id column values as well as the modified text, thus
In “Tabular Form Element” – “Element Attributes” add in
onchange="updateRemarks(#DEPT#, #ID#, this.value)"
Unfortunately this does not work, apex does not expand the #DEPT# & #ID#, and just passes in the literal text.
So how can I achieve this?

The columns and rows have a set format for the Id, so if you know one Id you know the row and the ids of all the other columns.
As an example, this will show the value of column 6 when you click on any column with the function call in the Element Attributes:

BEx Variable in Webi Report questions

Hi Gurus,
Here is my issue.
I created a BEx Query 0SD_C03 Cube with following fields
Two Columns
One Key Figure: Subtotal1
One Restricted Key Figure: Subtotal with restriction " Sales Organization 1000"
Two Rows Plant, Sales Organization
One Variable with Sales Organization.
When I ran this query in BEx Analyzer I can see all Sales Organization values in prompt list, How ever when I created a Universe and ran a webi query I can see 1000 in the Sales Organization list.
Is this because I have restricted Key Figure with Sales Organization 1000 in the query?
I removed my Restricted Key Figure from my query and tried again this time I see some 10 Sales Oraganizations but I didn't see all available Sales Organizations. Does BO Universe LOVs restricte the list?

I wrote the code for select-options entries, but, am looking for any standard function module (if i pass my_select_options table, I need to get printable/readable entires) to print on my basic report, pls. let me know (I tried in SE37, but i got an in-active FM - PRINT_SELECTOPTIONS!!)

Supply Shortage Report question

In my cube I have material, 0calday, receipts and demand key figures.
Formula for Supply Shortage = Receipts u2013 Demand.
Users want to see number of consecutive days a particular productu2019s Supply shortage value is below zero.
Input criteria:
Date range:
Consecutive days:
For e.g. If user enters date range as u201C06/01/2010 u2013 07/31/2010u201D and Consecutive days as u201C4u201D they want to see all the products which have u2013ve Supply shortage values consecutively for 4days or more.
Can anyone tell me how we can accomplish this in Bex? Thanks in advance.

Please check the follwoing option.
Load the msae data in one more DSO which will be a lookup DSO. In that DSO theer will be a daily load with the date as "Historization Date" which will keep the Current date with every load. In that DSO calculate Shortage Indiactor
Shortage Indicator 1 if Receipts < requirement.
By doing this you will be having Data with Historization date (Daily) with an Indicator for Shortage.
Now while loading this cube populate one Chracteritics a Shortage Counter by doing look up theis DSO.
You need to Indicator in the DSO with today's date and historization date and you need to add the counter on the basis of avilable consecutive entries by putting a loop for the same.
By this approach you may achieve your need.

Report programming is a simple abap program which deals with presentation of the output to the client.
Report is generally designed when we want to have the output on the screen in a particular manner..
Report has many things attached to it like alv etc.
But basically reports are managed by events. The order of the events are as follows.
Initialization
At selection screen
Start of selection
End of selection
Top of page..
We write the code in these events and this will be executed sequentially. If u want any detailed thing in report. Do revert back.

Barocde printing in a basic report.

Experts,
Can I print bar-code in a basic report.
When i take a print out of the basic report the print out should come with bar-code. Is this possible?

Adding Date/Time Field + X Number of Days - Basic Calculation Question

I am assuming this is a basic calculation question. New to Adobe LiveCycle Forms.
I have a simple form containing a table. The table appears as such:

user wil choose the beginning date (Date/Time) this is DateTimeField1
Tuesday
this should calculate DateTimeField1 + 1
Wednesday
this should calculate DateTimeField1 + 2
Thursday
this should calculate DateTimeField1 + 3
Friday
this should calculate DateTimeField1 + 4
Saturday
this should calculate DateTimeField1 + 5
Sunday
this should calculate DateTimeField1 + 6
Calculations are performed after the date is chosen for Monday. My mind tells me the simple calculation of DateTimeField1 + 1 is not going to work (and in fact doesn't!) as it needs to change Monday to a number first. I saw on another thread the following:
Num2Date(Date2Num(Date(DateTimeField1), "DD.MM.YYYY")+7, "DD.MM.YYYY")
Thought this was going to get me close. No cigars though!
Any quick help is greatly appreciated. And since I am new to this, details about what needs to be changed would be great too!

Here an addition for you date field.
This FormCalc script in the exit:Event will check it the selected date is on a monday.
If not it will go the days back until the last monday.

More than 1023 characters data in basic report layout?

Am developing a basic report, where in I have to accommidate around 1100 characters data in a line (columnn headings itself are taking 1080 characters), but system is allowing only 1023 characters, pls. let me know how to achive this?

Why don't you just break up 1 line into 2 separates lines?

Basic Exporting Question

My main question is a very basic exporting question, but here is a super-condensed explanation of my big-picture goal for context:
Large (~450 MB) aiff on CD --> trim w/ Quicktime --> small (~16 MB) MP3 in iTunes
I would like to take an audio file (aiff) that is approximately 450 MB and export it from Quicktime and in doing so, reduce the file size and convert it to MP3. When I simply try to export it, it doesn't ask me about what size I want, nor does it give the option of MP3 formatting.
I have figured out how to reach my goal, but it's a mess. After I make my trims in QT, I have to:
1. select "share" instead of "export".
2. It asks me what size I want and I select small.
3. The file is then exported as a Quicktime movie into Mail and the size is reduced from 450 MB to about 20 MB.
4. I then have to "right-click" on the attachment in the email that is created,
5. save the attachment,
6. discard the email,
7. import the file into iTunes, and
8. create an MP3 in iTunes to finally arrive at my goal.
This seems like a ridiculously convoluted process to change a large aiff to a small MP3 and put it in iTunes. Any suggestions?

Thanks. I guess the basic answer to my question is that it can't be done in one or two fell swoops. The problem is that it starts on a burned disc, and I need to make edits to it before it ends up in iTunes (to be eventually used in iWeb). I was hoping to avoid juggling back and forth between iTunes and QT. I either would have to send it back to QT to do the edits after -->iTunes-->mp3, or import the large file from the CD to QT, make the edits, save changes, import large file to iTunes, convert to mp3.

Basic Crystal reports question

I have a very basic question for you experts out there.
I would like to create a Crystal report that would utilize queries i already have in B1. I believe this involves copying the query into the database so Crystal can use pull from the them.
