Basic Security & form printing questions.

Hi, I am not an Oracle Forms developer yet, just gathering info, but I have 2 probably simple questions for you forms experts out there that maybe you can help me with.
Lets say that this new application will have 10 users and I create a main menu with 5 categories. Can forms allow me to give 4 users read/viewable rights to, lets say 3 categories, instead of all 5 categories? Bsically I just need to know if it offers some kind of security that I can create for each individual user.
The next question is if I create 10 forms that is supposed to 'retrieve' data, but I need to also have these 10 forms print out 'without' the data. Do I need to create 20 forms, or is 10 sufficient and oracle would allow me to print the forms out either with or without data.
Thank you in advance

There is menu-level security, meaning that only users that have certain roles may execute certain menu choices.
There's no special security at form level, apart from the database level security.
If a database user does not have insert, update & delete priviledges on a datablock in the form (but has the select priviledge), then, he won't be able to change the data in that block using the form, and if he'd try to, he'd get an error when trying to commit the changes.
Well, you may use set_block_property(your_block, update_allowed, property_true) or set_block_property(your_block, update_allowed, property_true) in the when new-form-instance trigger to make the form behave as you will when opened by a given database user.

  • Removing security to print a signed document

I have created a secured form (printing disabled), with a digital signature field.
Is there a way, once I receive the form back from the user, for me (creator of the form) to disable the security so I can print the completed form? I tried to do this, but it says that since the form has been signed, the security can't be removed.

What purpose was served by restricting the printing? In most cases, I would not sign a legal document that I could not print.
If you did not use DRM, there are many utilities that will remove password protection from pdf files. However, that will probably invalidate the signature. Your best bet might be a screen capture.

  • Formatting Long Text gets disturbed during Adobe form Printing

    Hi Guru's,
I have developed Adobe Form for PM work Orders (IW32) printing using Code u2018SFPu2019. The Order Contains order Long Text or Operation Long Text.
In my case the user maintains some table like structure in the Long text .e.g. ( Here the tab means the actual space and the text length can vary. So basically he will draw a table cells one below another by adjusting tab's)
    Text 2 Tab Tab   |___|___|
    Te TabTab Tab |___|___|
I am reading this using READ_TEXT and it gets perfectly read.( I mean the tab positions will be intact. Also it will remain intact by the time ADS will get called)
When i submit this for generating Adobe Form the formatting of the tab positions gets disturbed and it prints something like
    Text 2 |___|___|
    Te |___|___|
How to keep the Tab positions intact while printing the Adobe Form? For SAP script printing it comes perfectly but for Adobe form printing it gets disturbed. Any idea how to handle this situation?
    Thanks
    Pradeep

    Tough request!
You have to calculate the widths of texts so that to determine to which tab position refers each tab character.
You might print the sapscript to OTF format, and read the OTF to get the exact positions (based on top left border of the page).
But now comes the second big issue: how to position a text in Adobe form at a dynamic position. That, I don't know. You might ask a question about this 2nd issue in forum

  • Form Printing Scenario Implementation

    Hi All,
As per my knowledge, There are three basic Interactive Form scenarios are:
    1. Online Interactive Form Scenario
    2. Offline Interactive Form Scenario
    3. Form Printing Scenario
I want to know how to implement these scenarios. In some document I saw that the design time for interactive scenario can be NWDS or ABAP work bench. But for the thired scenario they gave only ABAP workbench. Does it mean the thired scenario will be implemented only in ABAP stack?. Can we implement in Java Stack also?.
    Thanks

Most questions can be answered by reviewing the adobe documents area in SDN.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/adobe
    The install guides are here:
SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe - Configuration Guides [original link is broken]
There are several basic steps you have to perform for adobe to run in an ABAP system.
Create an ADSUSER user and assign the adscallers roll to it. This is done on the java side when the ADS component is installed. You will need to make adsuser a technical user in the java engine, as this is not its default setting.
Create an ADS_AGENT user and assign SAP_BC_FP_ICF, and SAP_BC_FPADS_ICF to the user.
Activate the services in SIFC /sap/bc/fp and /sap/bc/fpads.
Create and RFC to point to your java engine where ads is installed.
    Create A PDF Printer.
Create a Desitnation in the java stack to point back to the ABAP system and log in as ADS_AGENT.
Depending on your scenario you may need SSO and SSL turned on.

  • Really need help with basic static forms?!?!

I was thrown into creating forms for our Business Managers and I am not a developer in any way!  I am a Recruiter, but somewhat tech savvy (or at least I thought I was).
I am trying to create basic static forms.  I started by using Adobe Professional and them moved to LiveCycle Designer because of what I thought were better "editable" options when creating the form.  I want to be able to send my manager's forms via e-mail (PDF), they can enter the requesting information in the fields, save a copy for themselves, print, and e-mail to me.  We are not using any of the Adobe Server things, I don't want them to submit via an e-mail button on the form.  We are a non-profit organization and my managers are using all different versions of reader.
I am getting extremely frustrated because in testing the form everything seems to be working properly including tab order, print, save and everything I want it to do.  Then, I send them out for my managers to use, for some Manager's they work great, no problems at all!  But then, I keep getting these weird issues from different Managers with the same form.  For one of them, what they typed in the field, now looks like it's behind the text box, like when you select Highlight all, you can see what he typed, but then if you click into the text box, you can see what he typed. Another Manager said, two (crucial) fields would not show the text entered when she tries to save or print, but on screen you can see it????
So after the rambling, I guess my questions are: should I be using Live Cycle to create such basic forms or should I be using Adobe?  Can anyone recommend a good "FOR DUMMIES" book that will help me figure out what I am doing wrong, and not explain in "IT" language?
This is really getting embarrassing!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

    1. Make sure to set the PDF target version. Goto File -> Form Properties (see the first screenshot attached)
Find out the minimum Reader version used in your organization and set this value accordingly. If you are not sure, select the least recent version.
    2. two (crucial) fields would not show the text entered when she tries to save or print, but on screen you can see it
This may be due to the visibility settings of the fields. Just make sure that you have selected visible instead of visible (screen only)
         See the second screenshot attached
    Hope this may help you.

  • Saving a filled-in secure form in Reader?

Apologies if this has been covered somewhere in the forums. I've just not been able to find anything that answers this...
I've created a form for a client in Acrobat 9 Pro. Security is set to allow printing and "Filling in form fields and signing existing signature fields." My problems begin when opening the form in Reader X.
The instructions in Reader says "Click 'Sign' to fill out and sign this form. When you are done, you can save a copy by clicking 'Done Signing'"
I click "Sign" and fill-in the form fields. However, "Done Signing" never turns live in the sidebar. It remains grayed-out. The only option available is to "Send Signed Document" using Adobe's EchoSign system. However, doing so simply sends a blank form, with none of the fields filled-in.
Save As... doesn't appear to be an option either, as it will only save a blank copy of the form.
How does a user fill-in and save a secured form in Reader X? Will I have to remove all security from the form altogether? Or is a user doomed to have to use EchoSign...which apparently only saves a blank version?
Side observation: That sidebar is very confusing to the user. What's "Add Text" for? It could easily be assumed that the user needs to click that in order to fill-in the fields. And, there's no need for anyone to sign or "Place Signature" in this form. How can a user avoid this altogether?

If it needs to be saved with Reader, the document has to be Reader-enabled. To do this with Acrobat 10, select: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features
The EchoSign related stuff in Reader should be ignored for a form like this.
Note that Reader 11, which will be released shortly, is able to save a non-enabled form, but not if the form uses digital signatures. If it does, it will need to be Reader-enabled.

  • About include text in sapscript form printing

    hi experts:
I am learning about form printing, the control command-include,for example:INCLUDE ZTEST OBJECT TEXT ID ST.
the question is:how to ceate the text?
       thanks

    Hi,
Standard text are used to include a Fixed Note or Rules or regulation document in SAPSCRIPT.
You can include this text any where in your SAPSCRIPT, just by using include text.
It is created in SO10 transaction, Where you can create the standard text. Object Name --> Starting with Z, Text ID --> ST, Language --> EN
Just enter the text you want to display inside the editor and save it.
Then go to sapscript editor --> in Menu Include --> Text --> Standard.
    It wil get included.
    Hope this may be useful..

  • Cannot distribute secured form.

    Hi Everyone,
Using Livecycle Designer ES2 9, with Acrobat Pro 10.0.3. Standalone implementation.
When attempting to distribute a secured form, Acrobat displays "Acrobat is unable to distribute this form because of the form's security settings."
The form distibutes and functions perfectly without security, but we require the code to be secured. What am I missing?

  • Check Form Printing

    Hi Gurus,
    1. I understand that check form printing can be done using sapscripts. Is there any other way to do this (like smartforms)?
    2. If I customize the sapscript, how do I print preview?
Full points will be rewarded if found useful.
    Thanks!

    That was helpful.
    My next question is:
    1. How do I print out several invoices in one check? What is happening is it summarizing the invoices instead of displaying several invoices.
    2. How do I get the W/tax?
    TIA

This is normal behaviour.  Apple have recently introduced increased security to protect you from fraudulent transactions.  Once you have answered the questions (remember your answers) you will only be asked for them occasionally in future.

    Hi,
I had a similar problem and found help for it. Go to the "Advanced" menu and select Extend features in Adobe Reader. That will enable rights which may resolve your problem. If that doesn't work, there is a really helpful guy in here, Robert Levine. You may want to ask him directly.

  • Adobe Form - Print page at the end for every record of a Z table with Text

Hello friends, I am facing a challenging here and I need to develop the following below. Mind you, I don't have much exposure/experience with Adobe Forms
Scenario: Standard REAL ESTATE Contract Form
I have a Z table containing RENTAL OBJECTS, in my case 3 records and I want, at the end of the form print one page like below to each record that i have in my Z table.
"Dear Z-field1 one, regarding your contract for Z-field2, Address Z-field3, blah blah blah"
In essence, print a page for each one of them at the end, with the text above using the fields from the z table.
I searched the forum and couldn't find any thing like it.
If someone can help it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks, Marco

    Hi Marco,
You must be having the ztable fields in the context or in the data heirarchy of the adobe form.
Assume that your main form is on the page1.
Create a table bound to ztable with 3 rows in it and make it invisible on the form.
Below the form create 3 pages page2, page3 and page4.
Create a ISR text display and on the initialise event write the code such as:
    this.rawValue = data.page1.Table2.Row1.Cell1.rawValue;
Create as many ISR texts as you want and initialize it using the above method.
    Page1
    form
    Page2
    Row1 values
    Page3
    Row2 Values
    Page4
    Row3 Values
    Hope this helps.

  • Hide password and user name fields in secure form on landing page

On a landing page I don't want the password or user name displayed in the "secure" form because I think it will keep people from downloading our e-book. It will cause what some refer to as too much friction—visitors will feel that we are asking too much of them just to download an e-book so won't do it.
I found somewhere where the user name can be populated with the e-mail address, although I couldn't figure out where to put the code to make it work.
Can the password fields also be auto-populated and hidden so the user can access the secure zone to download the e-book never even knowing that they had a user name and password assigned to them?
I'd really appreciate some help here and please keep in mind that html and css is where my expertise stops so if there is a java solution I will need the code and how and where to add it.
    Many thanks for your help.
