Bass Drum Volume Help

Hello all,
I just spent the day learning about compressors and limiters and all that fun stuff. I was having trouble getting my bounced song to be loud enough.
I've figured that out, which is great, but one issue remains:
The bass drum.
I cannot find a way to make my bass drum loud enough! If I turn up the dB or double it or any of the conventional ways of boosting the volume, it triggers the limiter. If I don't, the bass drum is pathetic.
Anyone know how to fix this?

If you are adding compression to the sound, you should be in effect turning the loud parts of the sound down... unless you are adding too much "make up gain" in the compressor.
I'd guess that you may need to adjust the overall mix, or find another way to increase the apparent loudness of the kick?
I would start by getting the kick to sound the way you'd like it on it's own, then place it in the mix.

You'll need to use the environment to transform (using a transformer object) a sustain pedal MIDI event, into the desired MIDI note event.
Check the manual on the transformer object for info on how to use it.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
          Envelope Index
          ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

Is there a way i can make my bass drum a shorter sound?

i would like to,,instead of having a BOOOOOOM,,,,,(sound bounces/rings) how do i make the drum have its BOOM but like a shorter note...more sticatto maybe? are there effects that i can add....

You're not saying which bass drum you are talking about - i.e. from which drum kit (I am assuming you are talking about software instruments). So maybe you should pick a different kit? Once you picked one, there's not much you can do to shorten the sound – a note always triggers the whole sample.

ITunes 9: I can't hear the bass drum anymore

Well, the bass drum on the iTunes 9 it's very very low and weak, I can't 'feel' it.... before was loud and clear. Sounded like a drum, now it's almost like a bass noise.
I would like more bass drum contrast.
In general nothing is distinguable anymore. The cymbals, the guitars, vocals are almost flat. Not heavy.
I wish hear all the instruments clearly as before.
I can't fix with the equalizer. 80% of my music have this problem.
What can I do?

Thanks for the reply. I thought I was going deaf.
I opened the same file in QuickTime and the bass drum, the cymbals, the bass were a little better [not much], but rest is messed it up.
The same file in VLC it's way way better than QuickTime. Loud and clear.
I can't understand it. Is it a bug or there a new way to equalizer?
Please Apple do something fast.

How does logical volume helps in performance in AIX..Should have posted IBM

We are setting up a new DB server and the disks are in RAID5 config,Does putting data and index in different logical volumes helps in performance

(I hope I'm not falling for April Fools joke here...)
Hi Maran,
As someone already answered, if both volumes are striped against all available disks, you can put everything in one volume and expect equal or better performance.
However, I want to warn you from optimizing the disk structure without knowing that your database will really bottleneck on disk access to index and data blocks. My storage manager and I wasted countless hours with such optimizations before realizing that we are wasting our time because the application code contains so many functions that disk IO is not even close to being an issue.

No Snare or bass drum sound

I am brand new to garageband.I was just testing out my sounds on the program and i have no bass or snare drum sound.I can hear my cymbals and toms,but garageband is picking up the sounds.I have a roland td-6 v-drum, midi to a m audio fast track pro interface with usb out of the interface to my mac.Can anybody help me?

Having the exact same problem with a v drum TD10 kit. Anyone out there have any helpful suggestions about correcting the mapping or is it possible to create a custom instrument in Garageband? Thanks

Play back Volume Help

Anyone know how to set the playback volume so that all the songs on my ipod will play at the same level? When I'm playing the songs through my car stero, some songs I have to turn the stero volume up and others I have to turn the volume down. I have the "sound check" option checked on the playback tab under preferences in itunes, but it doesn't seem to help. Thanks,

AFTER UPDATING FROM 1.4.2 TO 2.0 Can't mount Volume HELP!!!!

Today I have upgraded my Xsan Controllers to 2.0 and this is what happening:
I have 2 Controller With leopard 10.5.2 Server and 10.5.2 workstation
There was installed Xsan 1.4.2 and all works fine
I Have 1 SAN With 2 Volume splitted in 2 Xraid
I have read the Guide "migration from 1.4.2 to 2.0 Xsan"
When I finish to update all machine, I have tried to Start Volumes and mount it, but with my surprise only one volume starts and works the other one don't wont to start, I have tried to change controller with failore procedure but nothing works..... I have also tried to check the integrity of volume and all works fine. I have tried everything...... Finally I have restored my 1.4.2 Xsan and now all works fine.
Somebody could help me to resolve this nervous problem???

I have repeated the procedure to upgrade my SAN:
The problem is the same..... but now I have look in more detail the cvlog
I have found something wrong about the RPL procedure in the volumes that dosen't start:
RPL_init: RPL upgrade required.
RPL_Upgrade: Removing existing RPL attributes.
But Nothing seek in i/o of Xraid and past 1 hours I think there is some kind of problem in the RPL upgrade...
anyone have experience with this problem?
I have also look to www.xsanity.com because and I found user have the same problem and doesn't start one volume.

When connecting to most CD players, etc., I get little to no vol. on most songs. Thanks in advance for the help.

Connecting how? Do you have the volume limiter set too low?
And most importantly, why are you connecting the iPod to a cd player?
Cd players are output devices only.

Speaker Volume help

I have the 1st gen iphone. For a couple of months the speaker has been getting softer and quieter. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or knows of a way to fix it. I used to be able to play music with the volume set at about 60% and it was plenty loud. Now at full volume it's almost impossible to hear. The ringer is so low I have to leave it on vibrate. I miss calls now matter what ringtone it's on.
The phone's never been damaged or wet.
Please help.

What worries me is that Apple might not have told us that extensive use of the speakers might wear it out and make it softer.

Replicate Audo track to increase volume -- help!

Hi, I'm using FCE3.5.
I want to double the audio track in a particular sequence to increase the volume. For whatever reason, I can't copy and paste. I tried to hold option, and move... and, while the cross hairs and plus sign is displayed, the audio track moves, rather than duplicates. I tried copying and pasting, witghout success. Can anyone help me with this? Or, is there a better way to increase the volume beyond pushing the red line as far up as it will go?

Hi, since I am not an expert, sometimes the audio get recorded at low levels on the field (specially using microphones lavalier with people that talks very low.
To resolve this in the post, I used an audio filter applied directly to the audio track I needed to increase, and it works fine, so haven´t to copy paste the audio track.
look for effects-audio filters-final cut pro- search for - Low shelf filter - apply to the audio tracks, and then double click the tracks so you can see in the viewer the effect applied, and then increase the frecuency and then the gain so, combining these two keys you will notice the good incement.!
Take care of the background noises and the gissss...
also its a good idea to use the equalizer filter.

Drum timing help.

Hi Guys,
Im new to Garage Band but decided to explore it on my iPad for the first time.
This is probably a dumb question so excuse me if it is. I have played around with recording using the touch drum kit but whenever I listen back to the track it seems as though Garage Band has adjusted the time signature of the beat so it doesnt actually sound like what I recorded.
I have never recorded music before so not really sure whats happening but im guessing its a settings thing? Im sure its not my terrible rhythm.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, RudyL90, that's right. When you have the drum track selected, you can tap the options icon, which is the set of three faders icon in the upper right, and then you'll see "quantization" at the bottom of the list. By default it's turned on (you can set how "fine" a quantization resolution you want it to use, such as 16th note, eighth note, and so on), so that you can tap in a drum part and even do it a little bit sloppy and GarageBand for IPad will "clean it up for you."
Sometimes this is terrifically helpful, and other times it's exactly what you DON'T want... you can turn it off after you've made the recording, and your part will return to exactly the way you initially played it.

My son has the Roland drum tutor, it worked great on the gateway PC laptop. I tried to install the program onto our MAC book pro with no luck. Can anyone help with this issue? Thank you

Unfortunately, roland drum tutor is PC only! No mac version.
