Batch import items

I've got several templates each of which has an item region. In the page instances built from these templates I use a custom XML item that extends the Base File item type. I have about 700 XML instances that need to show up as XML items in 700 pages (one item per page). Is there a way I can automate both creating the 700 pages and adding an XML instance to each?

I got the batch to almost work. Using the ZIP item, I created 700 pages, each containing my custom XML item type. Perfect!
However, these pages need to be a custom page type (i.e. not the default Standard page type). They have PL/SQL items inherited from a template that require custom page attributes.
I don't see anywhere to configure which page type the pages resulting from a ZIP extraction become. I've only enabled my custom page type at the Page Group level and the ZIP unpacking UI screens don't have that as an option. Any ideas? If I can't do this from the UI, can I do it programatically? I don't see a modify_folder procedure. Thanks.

    This is a very important functionality that you are describing here. For example, in the Steel industry, it could be extremely useful to cost by batch or serial number.
    If you receive a batch that already exists in the system and if the costing method for the product is moving average, then teh cost of the batch should be calculated based on the moving average as well.
    If the costing method is standard, then the cost should go in a variance account.
    If the costing method is FIFO, then it is a getting trickier...

  • Batch importing from an Xcell spreadsheet

    Hey all,
    Sorry for the long post, but I've been hounding these forums and the cow and have found a lot of great information, just not the last little bit I'm looking for. So bear with me...
    Trying to import an Xcell spreadsheet as logging information in FCP. Footage is P2 media (DVCroHD 1080p30) already stored on an external HD (with all file structure intact). Producer has a macbook, so no cool intel based logging software can be used. He is using P2pro, but is apparently unable to change timecode fields - a big drawback if you're trying to subclip.
    We've got Larry Jordan's template log, and another one that a friend gave us. Exported producer's log as a tab delimited txt file. Imports into FCP just fine (with the exception of 40 or so blank clips (no name, no reel, duration of 01 frame). Fields are as follows:
    *Name Reel Media Start Media End Log Note Description*
    The clip name is the (random) number assigned by the camera, the start and end times are accurate & the big old log notes he entered are all there. So that seems good.
    I was hoping to batch import those clips from the external HD using our new "subclip" in and out times. I am not seeing a "batch import" menu (am I?) If I drag the clip into the log & transfer window if launches the capture tool and tells me there is no deck present.
    If I simply try to "reconnect" the media it balks at the different start and end times - also at number of audio tracks, and frame rates - which makes sense since none of that is in the log file.
    If I use the log & transfer tool and cut and paste fields from the txt file, we get exactly what we want. So that's what we've been doing, but you can imagine it gets a little tedious. Tried to import the log file directly into that tool, but didn't find a way to do it.
    So to recap:
    I can import a funtional (as far as I can tell) log into FCP, but I can't get it to transfer the clips.
    And to the questions:
    1. is there a batch IMPORT function in FCP and I'm just missing it?
    2. Can I import a list directly into log & transfer?
    3. Is there a way point the batch capture function/tool to a file?
    4. Can I modify the item properties for a logged clip (other than # of tracks - got that one.)
    5. Do I just need to knuckle down and cut & paste and stop whining?
    6. Is there a really obvious solution I've missed?
    Again, sorry for the long post. Shane & David S., you guys have helped me with log & transfer in the past, any thoughts on this one?

    New info:
    If I make one of the clips that I have imported (using the cut & paste method) offline, and do a batch CAPTURE on that, it does in fact launch log & transfer and retransfers it correctly. If I could modify the logged clip to reflect that, maybe it would work. The "source" field for example. But FCP won't let me modify that field in the logged clip. I'll try adding it to my txt log and report back.

  • DTW batch import problem

    Hi all,
    I've got a problem when trying to batch import from sql statement via odbc:
    "Can not connect to ODBC data source" and then "Can not get SQL handler"
    Manual import is working well with this odbc connection !
    The statement looks like: SELECT ItemCode AS 'Record Key', ItemCode, 'Y' AS 'Properties1' FROM OITM WHERE ItemCode = '4711'
    While manually importing I saved the xml and after that call: dtw.exe -s config.xml
    I used a SQL (Server 2005) Native Client DSN and only set db auth (sa...) and left other properties as default
    Anybody knows this behavior? Is the statement wrong? Or the odbc connection?

    Hi Marco,
    I checked this issue using the 2007A DTW (version 2005.0.30) and the 8.8 DTW (version 88.0.11). I haven't had success.
    The 8.8 version runs without error but did'nt update my test item. If you run it manually, the DTW reports one updated value. If I run it by a command (DTW -S <File>) it runs fine and reports zero successful update.
    I don't know if the DTW is able to run sceduled ODBC updates or not and would hope for an answer to this thread!

  • Batch Split Items appearing in the billing document

    Dear Friends,
    Batch determination is active in our system. In the delivery there are two main items. 10 and 20 and each has Batch split and the sub items are 90001 and 90002 respectively.
    Now in the billing document there appears are four items with item nos and qty as follows.
    item 10 qty 1 - main item having pricing etc
    item 20 qty 0 - batch split item no qty n no pricing
    item 30 qty 1 - main item having pricing etc
    item 40 qty 0 - batch split item no qty n no pricing
    The requirement is that there should not be any sub items with zero qty. Only main items to appear in the Billing document.
    One important observation I would like to share with you is that in the delivery document both main items and it's sub items have item category as TAN.

    What i would like to know here is if appearance of sub items with 0 qty n 0 price does not affect in the billing document then how come VPRS cost coming only in the item conditions of the sub items. I dont see the cost in the main items.
    What I want to knlow here is that does in any way these sub items affect the billing document? i mean in the accounting or data flow to CO-PA or something like that..?

    We have a need to post hundreds of documents to one of our content areas. I dread the thought of having to upload those documents one-by-one.
    Is there a batch import application that we can use to get all those documents into the content area?

    Zip all of your files into one zip file. Add this zip file to the content area as a "zip file" item type. Once this has been added, you will see an "unzip" option. (If you don't see this, then the folder region style is set to not show the "associated functions" attribute. Modify the folder style and edit the region where the zip file exists. Add the "associated functions" attribute to be displayed.) Unzip the file, and all of your documents will be added as items.

    I am getting error message "Item Catalog Group Descriptive Elements Open Interface import completed successfully for all records in this record set." when i am submitting Import Items Seeded program.
    data is loaded into master organization successfully but no records were created in child organizations.
    Apps version is 11.5.10.2
    The same program with same code ran successfully a week back.

  • How do use home sharing to import items from other iTunes library?

    Okay - the help section in iTunes is not helpful.  I am trying to import items from my girlfriend's library and vice versa.  We have home sharing turned on.  I can see her library and she can see mine.  According to the HELP section, I should be able to choose a cateogry i.e. MUSIC.  Then there is supposed to be a "Show" menu at the bottom of the iTunes window and I should choose "items not in my library" then select the items I want to import and click import.
    PROBLEM:  I can choose a category but there is no SHOW Menu at the bottom of the iTunes window which allows me to select items and import them into my library.
    Suggestions???

    Well I guess I am not sure now that you asked. 
    In ITunes - under "Preferences" I have Sharing turned on so it says sharing my library on local network.
    AND
    In ITunes - under "File" I have Home Sharing turned on.

    I am trying to import item in fusion DOO 11.1.5 using bulk import. However the import is failing with below mentioned error message:
    PRIMARY_UOM_CODE - The value of the attribute   Primary Unit of Measure is not valid. “
    Any idea what could be the issue here? We have the UOM defined and a UOM Class is also available. Do we also need UOM conversions?

    Sorry for the delay. Based on some notes in our system there was an enhancement to introduce new field (PRIMARY_UOM_NAME) for import  representing the human readable UOM. It was slated as a feature for Release 5 of Fusion, however I am not quite sure if it made Release 5, the column is there in Release 6 ..

    You cannot import  data prepration templates>>Testcase1_Test Data for Import function>Oitems directly.
    You will have to do certain prerequisites like setting CommissionGroup, CommissionPercent, CommissionSum,CustomsGroupCode etc., in SAP before importing Items.
    So I would like you to try out with minimum fields in the template and import. After understanding, you can import the required fields.
    I suggest you to use the template from "C:\Program Files\SAP\Data Transfer Workbench\Templates\Templates\oItems"

    Hi Sandy,
    Kindly follow the check list
    1. Right Click DTW and run it as Administrator.
    2. Is your DTW version is same as SAP B1.
    3. Uninstall and re-install DTW.
    4. If you are using 64-bit DTW, try to use 32-bit one.
    5. Check the Template, is it of the same DTW version.
    6. Remove all the unnecessary columns.
    7. Last try different Template extension.. (e.g: CSV (Comma delimited), or Text (Tab delimited))

    From your example, you have 2 batches
    Batch A1 is received first with  Qty 10 Cost 10,000
    Batch B1 is received next with  Qty 10 Cost 20,000
    Now when you  issued qty from batch B1 then Item cost will be only 10,000.
    This is the default B1 functionality.
    To know the next FIFO layer for an Item and its remaining quantities and price use the following query

    I'm running the import items program to assign new organization to the item in inventory. For that i am using CREATE transaction type to create a new record with new organization. When i run the Import items program, it is throwing some error when the record move from interface table to inventory base table. See below error message.

    TABLE NAME : MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_INTERFACE
    COLUMN NAME : INSPECTION_REQUIRED_FLAG

    ERROR MESSAGE : Inspection Required Flag cannot be set to "Y" if Receipt Routing is not set to Inspection.
