Batch import of metadata?

Hello,
I'm hoping someone can help me with the following problem:
I have a large amount of PDFs and XMP files. Each PDF needs metadata imported from a corresponding xmp file of the same name. All the files are located in the same folder.
Is it possible to do this with a batch sequence? Are there any javascripts available that can handle this? Or do I need third party programs to do this job?
Any help is appreciated.

I can imagine, that it’s complex. And it would be far beyond my scope to program it myself. That’s why I was asking where to look for. I was considering it a common task and expected solutions already existing, but probably it isn’t. All I’ve found so far, was a PDFlib product, but it doesnt seem to offer a real batch process for multiple files, or an easy way to adjust it myself.

  • Batch Import of metadata for images

I have a big collection of images, but all the individual keywords and descriptions of the images are stored in an external file (Excel table / XML File). Is there some way to batch import all the information without having to do this by hand (it'll take ages...).
The image names correspond to the names given in the Excel table. I would appreciate any advise.

No, you would have to go through another program such as iView and script - Excel's VBA can automate iView. Alternatively, you would be able to use VBA to generate XMP sidecars.

  • Batch import lyrics from file

    Hello
I have collected lyrics over the years. They are written in text files. Is there a way to batch import these lyrics into itunes? or do I have to do it one at a time? I have looked at many of the importer/search apps but none seem to have the capabilities of searching a file folder on the hard drive. Might be missing something here.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    cheers

In Library Module, select Grid Mode. Select all images you wish to read metadata from. Go to Metadata>Read Metadata from Files
Similarly, you can edit time for time zone/ AM-PM issues, etc by going to Metadata>Edit Capture Time

  • Import XMP Metadata Kills My Image Edits

I imported a batch of JPGs from a recent trip and happily used LR to rank them, add labels and adjust them in the Develop module. Later, when LR was not running, I used another program to modify some of the embedded meta data in these JPGs (in particular the dates).
On my next visit to LR I used the Import XMP Metadata From File command, hoping to get LR to recognize the modified dates. This turned out to be a big mistake. All my previous ranking, labeling and developing was lost. Oh dear.
I guess I was under the impression that the Import XMP Metadata From File command would synchronize the metadata in the files with the metadata in the database. It appears to have simply replaced the database values with what was in the file. So is this a bug or did I just misunderstand the feature?

    >I can go back to Develop and "back up" because the history is all there, but this would have to be done file by file,

  • Import OLAP Metadata in OBIEE 11.1.1.5 failing

We are in the process of integrating our existing Oracle OLAP infrastructure with OBIEE 11.1.1.5. We are currently on 11.2.0.1 DB with our 11g cubes in 11.2.0.0.0 compatibility mode.
We have two AWs within the same schema that are tightly integrated (Eg. Q12_AW and Q12_HIST_AW). When I import the metadata using OBIEE 11g BI Administrator, I can only see Q12_HIST_AW but not Q12_AW. Also, when I copy Q12_HIST_AW to OBIEE, it errors out. Looking at java host logs, it looks like I am getting parse errors but not sure how to pursue further on why the parser is failing.

It looks like OBIEE 11.1.1.5 ships with 11.1 jars and since my DB was running 11.2, I faced this issue. The fix is described below for folks who encounter this issue.
The OLAP API jars on the middle tier need to be updated to version 11.2.x. The OLAP API libraries are found in your Oracle Database home: [oracledb home]\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\olap\api\lib. BI EE provides an 11.1.x version of these files in [obiee home]\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\javahost\lib\obisintegration\aw\11g. Backup the BI EE version of the OLAP API jars and replace them with the version provided by the database.

    Oracle WareHouse Builder 9.2
    Ram :1GB
    SGA Size :Approximately 650M
I have 2 MetaData files which I have to import into OWB.
First file's size is 9M.It got imported properly in 4 minutes without any error.
    2nd File's Size is 30M.when
I start importing this MEtaData file.It goes upto 35% in Progress Bar.But after that it does not show any improvement.
I have left the machine running with this option upto 24 hours.
But nothing happened .It still shows only 35%.
I have checked log file/Trace file/Alert log files ,but there is no error in these files.
If any body have any solution about it,Please reply ASAP.I am stucked in this problem from last 7-8 days.
    Waiting for reply
    Thanks & Regards

    Thanks for your reply Igor.
As posted the OWB 10.1.0 software is running against a 9.2.0.8.0. database, so OWB still uses DBMS_JOB instead of DBMS_SCHEDULER in this database. In addition I already tested scheduling a simple job to run an OS command as suggested in note 365539.1 , and job scheduling is working fine.
There are no invalid objects in this database.

  • Batch importing from an Xcell spreadsheet

    Hey all,
Sorry for the long post, but I've been hounding these forums and the cow and have found a lot of great information, just not the last little bit I'm looking for. So bear with me...
Trying to import an Xcell spreadsheet as logging information in FCP. Footage is P2 media (DVCroHD 1080p30) already stored on an external HD (with all file structure intact). Producer has a macbook, so no cool intel based logging software can be used. He is using P2pro, but is apparently unable to change timecode fields - a big drawback if you're trying to subclip.
We've got Larry Jordan's template log, and another one that a friend gave us. Exported producer's log as a tab delimited txt file. Imports into FCP just fine (with the exception of 40 or so blank clips (no name, no reel, duration of 01 frame). Fields are as follows:
*Name Reel Media Start Media End Log Note Description*
The clip name is the (random) number assigned by the camera, the start and end times are accurate & the big old log notes he entered are all there. So that seems good.
I was hoping to batch import those clips from the external HD using our new "subclip" in and out times. I am not seeing a "batch import" menu (am I?) If I drag the clip into the log & transfer window if launches the capture tool and tells me there is no deck present.
If I simply try to "reconnect" the media it balks at the different start and end times - also at number of audio tracks, and frame rates - which makes sense since none of that is in the log file.
If I use the log & transfer tool and cut and paste fields from the txt file, we get exactly what we want. So that's what we've been doing, but you can imagine it gets a little tedious. Tried to import the log file directly into that tool, but didn't find a way to do it.
    So to recap:
I can import a funtional (as far as I can tell) log into FCP, but I can't get it to transfer the clips.
    And to the questions:
    1. is there a batch IMPORT function in FCP and I'm just missing it?
    2. Can I import a list directly into log & transfer?
    3. Is there a way point the batch capture function/tool to a file?
    4. Can I modify the item properties for a logged clip (other than # of tracks - got that one.)
    5. Do I just need to knuckle down and cut & paste and stop whining?
    6. Is there a really obvious solution I've missed?
Again, sorry for the long post. Shane & David S., you guys have helped me with log & transfer in the past, any thoughts on this one?
Thanks for listening, I'm back to googling and manual perusal...
    D
    Mac OS 10.5.5
MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2 GB ram
GeForce 8600M GT Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 Quicktime 7.5.5

    New info:
If I make one of the clips that I have imported (using the cut & paste method) offline, and do a batch CAPTURE on that, it does in fact launch log & transfer and retransfers it correctly. If I could modify the logged clip to reflect that, maybe it would work. The "source" field for example. But FCP won't let me modify that field in the logged clip. I'll try adding it to my txt log and report back.

  • Importing the METADATA ONLY using DBMS_DATAPUMP

    Hi DBAs,
Using the DBMS_DATAPUMP , how can I import the metadata only for a particular table . Also I dont want to import any associated INDEXES and TRIGGERS. I have the following codes but it is trying to import every thing. Also if the table exist, it is not importing the METADATA rather erroring out.
    handle1 := DBMS_DATAPUMP.OPEN('IMPORT','SCHEMA', 'QAXDB.WORLD');
    DBMS_DATAPUMP.METADATA_FILTER(handle1, 'SCHEMA_EXPR', 'IN (''HR'')');
    DBMS_DATAPUMP.SET_PARAMETER(handle1, 'INCLUDE_METADATA', 1);

  • BODS 4.2 Cannot import the metadata table, RFC_ABAP_INSTALL_AND_RUN syntax error

Hi all, we installed BODS 4.2 server to substitute a 4.1, but we are facing the error:
Error: Cannot import the metadata table <name=T001>
RFC CallReceive error <Function /BODS/RFC_ABAP_INSTALL_AND_RUN: RFC_ABAP_RUNTIME_FAILURE -(Exception Key: Syntax error in program /BODS/SAPLBODS....
We already tried the solution for when people get the error related to unicode.
Also, we are able to pull data via extractors, it only fails when loading Tables....
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Dear,
You will have to import the new ABAP Function Group "BODS/BODS".
    Here are some details:
Installing Functions on the SAP Server
SAP BusinessObjects Data Services provides functions that support the use of the ABAP, BAPI, and
IDoc interfaces on SAP servers. You will need some or all of these functions in the normal operation
of the software in an SAP environment. These functions perform such operations as dynamically loading
and executing ABAP programs from Data Services, efficiently running preloaded ABAP programs,
allowing for seamless metadata browsing and importing from SAP servers, and reporting the status of
running jobs. Some of these functions read data from SAP NetWeaver BW sources.
You must upload the provided functions to your SAP server in a production environment. It is
recommended that you always upload the functions to your SAP server whether you are in a
development, test, or production environment. The functions provide seamless integration between
    Data Services and SAP servers.
The default installation places two function module files for SAP servers in the ...\Data
Services\Admin\R3_Functions\transport directory. You then upload these files to SAP servers
using the SAP Correction and Transport System (CTS) or manually. Using CTS allows for version
control as the functions evolve across releases.
The installation provides two versions of transport files (depending on the server version you are using)
to install the functions on the SAP server. To obtain the names of the latest transport files for installing
or upgrading these SAP server functions, see the readme.txt file
And I've found those files and text files in the local install folder....in:
    Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\Data Services\admin\R3_Functions
    (that's where I've installed it).
There you'll find some descriptive txt as how to proceed.
After installing, it might happen that the executing user is missing some authorizations.
Here my authorizations team helped me by tracing the user and then adding the necessary rights.
Sure hope this will help you.

  • How to import XMP metadata in pdf

Could you please explain me, how to import XMP metadata in pdf file through "Live Cycle ES"?

Yes, with LiveCycle ES (almost) all services can be invoked from any of the available endpoints (watch folder, EJB, WebService, etc).
In this case since the ImportXMP requires two input files (the PDF and the XMP) you will need to drop a directory containing both of your files into the watch folder (not the individual files). This is because several requests can be dropped into the watch folder at the same time and without the sub directories LiveCycle couldn't tell what XMP when with what PDF.
A com.adobe.idp.Document - AKA: Document - object is one of the common object types used across all LiveCycle products. When you deal with PDFs and many other binary file objects they are stored a Document object. It is more important that you know this when using Workbench, web services or the Java API.
You should have a look at the documentation at: http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/8.2/programLC/programmer/help/001553.html

  • Microsoft Word:mac - Batch Import Photos from file

    Hi,
I have recently upgraded to montain lion and the latest update to the office:mac 2011. I have noticed that my automator workflow is now no longer working. I created a workflow that allowed the batch importing of photos into a document. The workflow works if you run it from within automator but does not work from within word.
I have also noticed that the sample workflows now no longer work. Very strange. I did some searching on the internet and other people have posted these issues on forums but no one suggested a solution.
    Anyone else having this problem?
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks
    Adrian

You're very close to what needs to be done. Make sure that your new presentation is in a view that shows slide thumbnails (either Navigator or Light Table view). Then, when you select the photos, drag to the thumbnail area. This action will create a separate slide for each photo that was dragged and dropped in the thumbnail area.

  • DTW batch import problem

    Hi all,
I've got a problem when trying to batch import from sql statement via odbc:
"Can not connect to ODBC data source" and then "Can not get SQL handler"
Manual import is working well with this odbc connection !
The statement looks like: SELECT ItemCode AS 'Record Key', ItemCode, 'Y' AS 'Properties1' FROM OITM WHERE ItemCode = '4711'
While manually importing I saved the xml and after that call: dtw.exe -s config.xml
I used a SQL (Server 2005) Native Client DSN and only set db auth (sa...) and left other properties as default
Anybody knows this behavior? Is the statement wrong? Or the odbc connection?
    (DTW Version 2005.0.0.29)
    Thanks in advance
    Marco

    Hi Marco,
I checked this issue using the 2007A DTW (version 2005.0.30) and the 8.8 DTW (version 88.0.11). I haven't had success.
The 8.8 version runs without error but did'nt update my test item. If you run it manually, the DTW reports one updated value. If I run it by a command (DTW -S <File>) it runs fine and reports zero successful update.
I don't know if the DTW is able to run sceduled ODBC updates or not and would hope for an answer to this thread!
    All the best
    Torsten

  • Problem with batch import and ReadAloud flag

We use the batch import to get our books into the Content Server. We have a couple of books where we want to allow the read-aloud feature. According to the manual setting the flag acs:RightReadAloud to -1 in the XML import file should take care of this but it doesn't work for us. I have tried setting the flag to -1 and 0 but the result is the same. <br />Below is an excerpt from our XML file:<br />          <acs:PublishInfo><br />               <acs:RightReadAloud>-1</acs:RightReadAloud><br />Any suggestions?

What version of ACS are you using and what process are you using? <br /><br />The following should work:<br />- export the XML for the books you want to change<br />- modify the XML tags for acs:RightReadAloud from 0 to -1<br />- make sure the values for the NotifcationType tags are set to 04 (update)--rather than 03 (replace)<br />  <Product> <br />    <NotificationType>03</NotificationType><br />- import the XML<br /><br />Do a new search for the books in ACS (to make sure you're seeing the new values) and check that the read aloud rights have changed.<br /><br />There is a problem in the importer which could cause an update like this to fail. See:<br />http://support.adobe.com/devsup/devsup.nsf/docs/53803.htm

  • EIF Export/Import Only Metadata

The following export statement 'export' entire AW with data. And import also imports everything.
    exec dbms_aw.execute('export all to eif file ''MYDIR/TEST_OLAP.eif'' api');
    exec dbms_aw.execute('import all from eif file ''MYDIR/TEST_OLAP.eif'' api');
Can I only export and import the metadata(like we do XML template) using commands like above?

    Just learned... Try below.
jarname_ is the name of the AWM jar. e.g. awm11.2.0.2.0.jar
user is the name of your user. e.g. TESTOLAP
password is the password for your user
url is the url for a node in your RAC cluster. e.g. jdbc:oracle:thin:@myserver:1521:orcl
filename is the name of the XML file to create. e.g. testolap.xml
java -classpath jarname_ oracle.olapi.metadata.util.ExportXML -user user -password password -url url > filename
The java version should be "1.6.0_24".
