Batch option to automatically place the search index path

HI
My company has 1000s of PDFs that we deliver to customers with search capabilities across all documents. We have created the catalog index for these documents, and in the past, we used a plugin called Options to batch set the Search Index path in Document Properties. This was a lot easier and less time consuming than opening every single PDF and manually inputting the path. Before options, it took me well more than a day to do this to every document we deliver. The plugin reduced my time to less than an hour. Very valuabe when in a delivery crunch!!!
But since upgrading to Acrobat X Pro which we need for our Office 2010 upgrade, we have been unable to use the plugin. I am looking for a new solution that can run a process to set this option across all documents. We are not a bunch of people who can go write scripts etc to do this so something off the shelf/ready made would be great.
Any recommendations?

"... manually inputting the path."
That is one method.
While not on your scale I maintain a large "eLibrary" of PDF document collections.
Also provide OSM for distribution of some of the collections.
Each topic has a cataloged index. Each sub-topic has a cataloged index.
For a topic / sub-topic a PDF that the user will land on has the path to its PDX.
The PDF opens, the PDX is mounted, advanced search is available for the respective collection.
The PDX stays 'mounted' until the end-user moves on.
Also, PDXs can be selected from the Search dialog/pane.
The PDX and its associated folder of index files is not in the folder that holds PDF(s) which are periodically updated.
So, update a collection, rebuild the index.
Good to go.
Not as quick as the plug-in but less mind-numbing as the "each PDF manually".
Be well...

  • Search Option Set does not exclude Search Indexes

    Hello!
    We are running NW04 SPS15
I've created a Search Option set, and in the "Search Index IDs (CSV)" property I've listed the one index Id I would like to search.
My problem is that when I submit the search, TREX returns documents which are NOT in the list of Index ID's.
    Any suggestions??
    Regards,
    Ove

    Hi HC
The settings you have entered in the search options set needs a place to be stored - a search component. Try creating a search component set with standard_search_input in Component for Basic Search Function and standard_search_scope (storage for the index restriction from the search options set) in Component for Search Options, use it along with the search options set in your search iview, and see if it works.
Try swapping the position of the two search components in the search component set and notice the change in your search results.
    Regards,
    Martin

  • Search Index Path Change

Is there a Batch Process that could be done to insert the Search Index Path into Multiple Documents without manually opening them?

No, there is no JavaScript interface to these settings.

  • Automatic login the search robot into portal

Does anybody know how to automatically login the search robot into portal using LDAP authentification? I would love to index and search content of the portal.
    Maros.

In most cases the content of the portal consists of content on other webservers. The idea is to spider these sites and then the URL rewriter will rewrite the URL's when going through the Gateway.
In case of f.i. Fatwire another scheme is needed where an indexer robot reads the content directly from the database (through fatwire API) and then calculates the link for the entry.

  • How to change the Search Index location in SP 2013?

    Hi all,
Now i am facing one problem with my client server. The default search index location C: disk memory is full now. So i want to change the Index Location to another Drive like D:
i tried some PowerShell comlets nothing is working.
Could you pl help me on this. Any help would be really appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Kannan K

You will need to do it in PowerShell.  In general you can't change the Index location after its setup.  But you can create a new Index on the same server with the new location.  Then remove the old Index.  You have to do it with two passes
since you can't remove the existing Index until the new one is in place and synchronized.  Take a look at the following Blog:

  • Batch number coming automatically at the time of Process order release

    Hi All,
I want the system generated batch number for header material to come automatically at the time of process order release.
At present ,the batch number is entered manualy dering process order creation.
Can anyone pls guide abt the settings required for the same

    Dear,
Define the  production scheduling profile CORY then
Auto Batch Creation = 2 On release.
Then assign this to your FG or SFG materials in work scheduling view in material msater MM02. Then create new order and check.
Now for automatic generation i have to set internal number asignment for batches.
Batch will create for movement type say 101 SPROLogistics - GeneralBatch mangment--Creation of New Batches --Define Batch Creation for Goods Movements. so it will have same logic in MM for 101 GR against PO will be internal number range but no effect in SD.

  • Huge file in one of the search index partition folder

    Hi,
I got a very strange situation in my SP farm. I have two index partitions on two WFE servers, each has Index Partition 0 and 1. On one of them, starting yesterday a very huge file grew over 30GB in the Index Partition 0 - Journal folder. I found the same
file in other Journal folder, most of them with less than 100MB.
Anyone has insight on this kind of behavior? Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Edwin

    Hi Edwin,
Please help collect the following information for further troubleshoot:
1.Check the Search Application Topology if the index partition is in normal state.
2.Check the ULS log if there are any errors when the issue happened.
    Best Regards,
    Wendy

  • How to place the search engine on the desk top as an icon

I am using windows 7, I would like to be able to click on the search engine ixquick https from an icon on my desk top instead of having to open a browser. I have visual problems and have trouble with the little search bar in my browser. most of the time I search and do not need to use the browser.

hello carlcarmichael, you could put a shortcut to the search site onto your desktop - this is getting described in [[Create a desktop shortcut to a website]]

  • How to place the generated index topic

I have a requirement to create index pages from a catalog that is generated completely (using javascript) from a xml data source dynamically using placeXML functionality of InDesign.
I created a place holder (a separate page with a textFrame) in my template (.indt file) and used text in between some tags (example: <ix>sometext to be indexed</ix>) and generated the topic thro' script (used grep).
I am able to invoke the "generateIndex" menu action using the following script and it works thro' ExtendScript ToolKit but the same is not working if I execute the script using the SOAP client to the InDesign Server.
    app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.NEVER_INTERACT;
    var indexAction = app.scriptMenuActions.itemByID(78084);
    indexAction.invoke();
    The following errors occur.
    UserInteractionLevels is undefined
Object does not support scriptMenuActions property
Does anyone have any other ideas to achieve the same, please help!
I appreciate your help and thank you!

    Hi,
I found the solution. There is a method for the Index object named "generate" and I invoked to generate the index.

  • Who has the option to automatically download" the apps that I download on my iPhone?  Do they have to have the same Apple ID associated with their device?

When I download an app or music to my iPhone, who else can turn on automatic downloads and have that app or song downloaded to their phone too?  Is it only people who use the same apple ID as you?  I just wanted some clarification.

Autormatic Downloads are associated with your Apple ID only.
Is it only people who use the same apple ID as you?
Your Apple ID is unique to you and you only and definitely not recommended to share with others.

  • Prevent automatic removal of the Spotlight index due to low disk space

I am guessing that when disk space runs low, it automatically deletes the Spotlight index to make room for virtual memory. Then when space becomes available it reindexes. But I'm not sure about that.
Since my MacBook Air SSD is only 128 GB, I often work with little free disk space and the re-indexing drives me crazy.
I tried to disable Spotlight, remove its index and reindex. Also check filesystem and repair permissions. In diagnostic reports (~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/) nothing about reindexing is mentioned.
You can say that I should control the amount of free space but also should be another way. Disabling Spotlight isn't the option.
    Crosspost: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/37321/prevent-automatic-removal-of-the- spotlight-index-due-to-low-disk-space

You can say that I should control the amount of free space .....
    Then I will
See if you have Time Machine Local Backups taking up space, and turn it off with:
         sudo tmutil disablelocal
Also consider turning off hibernate mode
I am guessing that when disk space runs low, it automatically deletes the Spotlight index to make room for virtual memory. Then when space becomes available it reindexes. But I'm not sure about that.
Not sure if that's the case, but low disk space can be causing issues.  What % of your HD is free?

  • Why does'nt the Store Search Index update When the Keyword Element's Text is Changed?

I have a Podcast that has been up for a year with 239 episodes (Arlington Public Schools School Board Meetings) in the iTunes Store.
The first episodes I created had too many words in the keyword element of an enclosure (more than 12).  The most relevant words I wanted indexed had been truncated.  I made the needed changes to each keyword element and resubmitted the RSS Feed XML.
An example of such a change was to add the word "speaker" as a searchable word to certain enclosures keeping with the 12 word limit in the hopes that a search for "speaker" would show all speakers in the result.  All of the new episodes work as expected but retro changes have no effect on the search index it only indexes search words when the episode is created.
What trick can I use without having to recreate each offending episode with an new title and/or GUID?
    Please Help
    Thank you

I'm afraid the inner workings of the Store software are pretty murky - Apple don't publicize them and a lot of the time one is left trying to estimate what is going on from observation.
In fact there have been complaints that the Search function doesn't take any notice of keywords at all, only titles, so if they're working for you that's an improvement: but I can't offer any way of resolving the problem you describe, nor assuring you that if you do re-post the episodes as if they were new it would have the desired effect (it would have the undesirable effect of all your subscribers downloading them all over again so you wouldn't be popular).
You could try asking Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com, but it's a pound to a penny you won't get a coherent answer - they may not even know themselves.

  • Search Index hangs on large files

I am using the 6.1 SP4 Web Server on Windows XP. I have the default search application working. My problem is adding MS Word documents to the collection. Word documents of the size 25KB work, but when I add a large Word document 6934KB it just hangs with no CPU activity going on.
Is there a work around or a parameter that needs to changed to allow larger sized files to be indexed in the collection?

I'm not sure what's going wrong, but you may want to try increasing the amount of memory the search indexer is allowed to use. To do this, you'll need to modify the searchadmin.bat batch file. You can find it in your Web Server's bin\https\bin subdirectory.
First, make a backup copy of searchadmin.bat. Next, open searchadmin.bat in a text editor and replace "-Xmx128m" with "-Xmx1024m". This will allow the search indexer to use up to 8x more memory.
Please let us know whether this helps.

  • Search & index problem! (A setting missing I think!)

    Hi All
I have created a file system repository to display the content of our HR policy documents. I have then created an index to search and classify the documents and I have moved them into there area in the Taxonomy structue. However when I search I seem to get the results from more than one index and I have no idea why?
    Can anyone help
    Thanks Phil

    Hello Phil
In order to limit a Search iView to a specific index(es), create a Search Options set and assign it to your iView.
To create a Search Options Set, go to System Administration > System Configuration > Knowledge Management > Content Management > User Interface > Search (advanced options) > Search Options Set.  The parameter to pay attention to in a Search Options Set for this specific purpose is the Search Index IDs (or Index Groups, depending on how you want to limit the search).
Then, to assign the new Search Options Set to your Search iView, open the iView for editing in the Portal Content Directory, and enter the name of your Search Options Set in the corresponding iView parameter.
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers,
    Fallon
