Battery drastically reduced after hd substitution with a ssd

Recently i substituited my hd with a ssd Samsug 840 series 250GB. I have a MacBook Pro 13" mid2010. I notice a time reduction of my battery. can it be due to the ssd?
ps
i enabled trim

I replaced my HDD with S840 Pro last week and having the same issue (MBP mid09). I've tried to reset PRAM and SMC but nothing helped. It might be SSD firmware issue as several people solve the same kind of issue by downgrading or upgrading SSD firmware (Crucial, ... but not Samsung)
Have you resolved the issue meanwhile?

  • Disk size is drastically reducing after the Dense restructure

After Clearing empty blocks the number of blocks are coming down by 10% showing that empty blocks were existing in the database. At this point in time total size of .PAG file remains constant (Before and after clearing empty blocks).
We did a restructure of database the number of blocks remained constant but the .PAG file has drastically reduced to less than 50%.
We are trying to understand why would the 10% block reduction is casuing the disk size reduction by 50%.
    Thanks for your inputs!
    Edited by: user3942062 on Mar 14, 2013 3:31 AM

The .pag file contains free space, not just that left behind by CLEARBLOCK EMPTY but also where blocks have been modified and no longer fit back into their original slot (so Essbase has to expand the .pag file to fit them back somewhere else). For example, if a block is taking up 2K on disk but you then load additional data, the block's footprint on disk may increase to 3K. Essbase can't fit it back into its original 2K location, so it leaves that 2K chunk of the .pag file empty (at least for the time being) and finds 3K elsewhere.
Only restructuring the database physically releases this space.

  • HT1490 battery life reduced after updating to osx mountain lion

I used to have a battery life of 7hrs+ but after updating my os to mountain lion 10.8 it has reduced to 3hrs. I've bought this macbook in august and i dont think there'll be any issue with the battery for just 3 months. I guess this has to be something related to mountain lion. Can anyone please suggest any method to increase my battery performance again...

Battery life on my 2012 mbp is also terrible, getting 2 hours out of it. They checked the battery and said its perfectly fine..

  • Drastic reduction in battery usage time after OS B...

Drastic reduction in battery usage time after OS Belle update. Without calls or any application use  - one day! I am using a Nokia C7-00.  Any solution to the problem?

Many folks, including myself have had success with correcting this with a battery cycling...
Basically...drain the battery until iPhone shuts itself off...Then charge using a home power outlet and NOT a Computer USB...
Then allow it to drain again fully until it shuts off...then again Charge fully using Home outlet...
Even though these batteries don't carry memory...this process seems to correct battery issues with the cells themselves just not acting properly...

  • The battery in my MacBook Pro 17 requesting assistance only after 277 cycles with a capacity of 9444 mAh

the battery in my MacBook Pro 17 requesting assistance only after 277 cycles with a capacity of 9444 mAh, Is it possible?I performed the calibration, but nothing changes.
MacBook Pro (17 pollici, Half 2010)
    MacBookPro6,1
    Intel Core i5
    2,53 GHz
    Memory 4 GB

Batteries will vary in how long they last. Apple will say that for machines built in the last 4 years that the battery may last up to 5 years approximately. However this depends on usage.
You can have someone who never ever uses the battery and only ever runs the computer from the mains and the battery will fail as it never gets used and the cycle count will be very low.
To put things in perspective. I have a 15" Macbook Pro with Retina Display (Late 2013). I've had it for probably 8 months and I have 128 cycles on my battery, approx. half yours in a quarter of the time. So if you're not always use the battery it can be affected in other ways.
You can try to see if calibrating the battery helps. Look at http://apple.com/batteries for information on how to do this or try an SMC Reset and see if these make a difference. If not, then seek support from an Apple Store or Authorised service provider.
    Hope this makes sense.

  • Macbook Pro won't login after sleep (sleep with low battery -- mac turned off maybe it's called save sleep)

Macbook Pro won't login after sleep (sleep with low battery --> mac turned off maybe it's called save sleep)
So if I hit the powerbutton my mbp booted like it is booting from the save sleep (so very fast and the login screen is there in about 10 sec.and there is no apple logo while booting just the desktop screen in "unsharp" ore foggy however...)
Then when i see the login (if the keyboard backlight turned on) i wand do tipe in my code but it won't work... the trackpad is not working; and when i plug-in a usb mouse the mbp is not powering on the usb-mouse (laser is off)
    Why is that this way?
Is there n option to wake up the mbp fromm deep/save sleep without haveing issiues after that?

Sorry for such a long delayed response...
I was able to get to an apple store this past weekend, and let me tell you... I'm about finished with there great "support".
Right before I went to the store, I tried to eject a disk. Well the cloth in the SuperDrive (I assume to protect the drive from dust and such) Pulled up with my disk. So I get the Apple store, describe my problem and what happened with the cloth piece. The "Genius" writes up a form and tells me they have to run diagnostic and it will take a couple days... and I will get a call when its done (1-3 days).
Well on day number 3 I called up the store and they told me it was ready to be picked up? I asked if anything had been fixed and they told me they could not reproduce my "sleep issue", so they couldn't fix that.. but told me the cloth piece in the SuperDrive had been fixed.
I drive an hour (one way) to the Apple store to find that all they did was PULLED OUT the cloth... they did not replace it! So basically I have a hole for a Super Drive.
I asked why I was not called to say that my computer was ready to be picked up... didn't get an answer on that one.
I asked why my SuperDrive was said to be fixed, when nothing was done... they told me that it would have to be sent out to the factory store for that to be fixed (FIRST TIME THEY MENTIONED THAT!) Oh, and that would take 5-7 business days. Well that's not going to happen right now considering I'm a college student that NEEDS a working computer!
So I go home, angry... start just putting all my important documents back on the computer. And the screen starts blinking!!!! I guess now I have the same thing described in another post on these forms...
Lets just say that I'm not very happy with Apple right now! If anybody else has success on either the sleep issue or the screen blinking issue, please let me know!
    Thank you!

  • Battery health drastically reduced

    hello all.
first off, this is a 15" from i believe 2007. i bought it used with an applecare plan which was good through march of 2010.
i don't remember exactly when, but back during winter i had the mac serviced. i had a red light issue in my headphone jack. when replacing the parts for the jack, they also gave me a new keyboard (as one key had been broken by my cat and another wasn't working great) apple also decided my battery wasn't up to standard and replaced it. i hadn't felt it was in too bad of shape, but i appreciated the new battery - it was great!
that background is just to say - this battery is less than a year old. and has been in the mid 90 % of health as of around 2 weeks ago, and has 57 cycles. last week it was running unplugged with only itunes and firefox running and shut down without ever saying power was low, etc.
when i rebooted, the battery health had dropped to a staggering 50 or 60%. i was shocked, but i thought maybe cycling it down and doing a full recharge would help. unfortunately, the same thing happened as i was trying to discharge the battery. it shut off at probably 50% charge. this time i rebooted to 40% health. not learning my lesson, i tried one more time to discharge and cycle. when rebooting after another shutdown, i was at 24% battery health.
since then i've only run plugged in, as it won't last otherwise. health is 28% but i don't expect it to get much higher.
any idea why my battery crapped out after only a few months and 57 cycles? i had my old battery since buying it used and then using it for nearly 2 years myself. it's health was still around 80%. so i don't believe it's my usage habits.
my applecare of course is now run out. anyone have experience in this situation? since apple recently gave me a "new" battery and it crapped out well before its time...do you think they would help me out, or will i have to buy a new one at full price? i haven't had a chance to stop in or call yet, as i'm in the middle of remodeling a house i just bought, and i'm getting married within a month.
just wanted to see if anyone had a similar experience.
    thanks!

When i Using 3G internet The battery is reducing very fast. maximum I can Use 2.30 Hours with internet using. Is this possible ?

How long are you using internet for? Are you using WiFi or mobile data? Are you watching video on websites? There are many variables that could explain a perfectly natural battery drain. As I said previously you should try recalibrating the battery. My phone used to drain by mid-afternoon with little to no use until I found out about recalibrating. Since then its been fine and its something I do at least once a month.

  • Battery 79% life after 72 recharge cycles and Amperage -1356

Hi to all, this is my story, I've bought a macbook pro 15'' on November 2007 and in about 4 months battery was at 50% of life after 92 recharge cycles, after one year from purchase, apple store has changed battery, megasafe and the connector on the macbook, now the situation isn't changed and I have a battery, like in object, with 79% of life after 72 recharge cycles and the Amperage in the information window is (-1356) very strange!!! Why there's a negative amperage? and why my battery works so bad? I always charge the battery when is completely discharged and when i do this the macbook is off, sometimes I use macbook with megasafe connected but in this situation I remove the battery. Can i have a new battery from apple in free substitution?

Hi alby_mo and welcome to the forums.
The amperage figure you mention will ALWAYS be negative when running from the battery and be positive when the battery is actually charging.
Your battery life is not uncommon, (many people only get about 18 months life out of these batteries, I'm afraid) but you are going about the charging process all wrong!
You should avoid completely discharging Lithium batteries as much as possible, and use them regularly and lightly if possible. Discharging them completely all the time reduces their lives substantially. THis used to be a good idea in the past with NiCad batteries that would develop a "memory" problem otherwise, but it is not so with Lithium batteries.
The only time that you really need to completely discharge your MacBook Pro battery is when you "calibrate" it, which you should do every month or two. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490 for instructions.
See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1764220 for a good FAQ with information about how to look after your battery, together with Apple's own comments at http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.ht
You should stop running the computer without a battery installed, too, for the reasons set out at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2332. It has little effect on the battery because charging is disabled once the battery reaches 100% and doesn't start again until it has dropped to the mid 90's. Better , instead, to get into the habit of running the computer on battery for an hour or so each day, and just leaving it on the charger the rest of the time, whether you are using it or not.
The "health" of your battery seems to reduce when the charge gets low because dying Lithium batteries build up increasing internal resistance, which becomes more apparent as the voltage drops.
You can ask Apple service in Italy (or an AASP) about a free replacement, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Many people with 2007 MBps are already on their second and third batteries, and Apple generally will only replace them during the warranty period. Some people seem to get lucky, though, and you can't lose anything by asking!
    Cheers
    Rod

  • Battery life poor after last OS update

HI.  I updated my Q10's OS last week to version 10.3.1.1565.  Since then the battery life of the Q10's battery has reduced from lasting from 6am to 4:30pm with some heavy usage to not lasting past 10am with very little (if any) usage.  All apps I run actively during the day is BBM and Whatsapp.  Rest of the apps are closed.

iam facing same issue after succesful OS update

  • IP Profile reduced after installing HomeHub 4

I recently installed a new Homehub 4 after receiving an email from BT asking me if I would like to replace my existing hub? Within 24hrs of installing the new hub my IP profile was reduced to 5 Mbps, which drastically reduced my download performance. Using the BT Wholesale speed tester I found that my DSL line sync rate was also significantly below the value I had previously experienced. I suspect that the new Homehub 4 is defective, if not faulty, in being unable to support the maximum line connection rate available to me. Can you confirm if this is the case in which I will return to using my 'Very Reliable' D-Link Modem/Router. I would also appreciate if my IP profile could be reset to my previous higher value.
Homehub 4 with low line rate of 6.188 Mbps!
BT line test show both higher connection rate (6.340 Mbps) and very high maximum connection rate of 7150 Mbps!
D-Link Modem showing much a higher sync rate of 6.752 Mbps which was achieved a few minutes later!
This higher connection rate is confirmed by the BT line test!
Note: IP Profile stays at 5Mbps for both routers. so I suspect it needs to be reset by BT and not by the Router.
Please help needed as trying to get BT support to rectify problem is getting very frustrating!

    welcome to the forum
this is a customer help customer forum and your posts do not go to BT
the HH4 is probably ok and probably the few disconnections resulted in a higher noise margin with reduce conection speed and therefore a lower profile  your profile is a function of your connection speed not the other way round
are you now conencted using the dlink?  if so then if you stay conencted for 3+ days showing a stable connection then the mods mods amy help by reducing you 9db noise margin back to normal 6db which will increase your conenction speed  a higher conenction speed will then give a higher profile provided speed moves to next profile band

  • Lumia 1520 Battery Discharge Issue After Updating ...

After updating to Denim, my Nokia Lumia 1520 started to experience the following symptoms:
Phone charges to 100%, I disconnect and use an app like Instagram BETA, Internet Explorer, Lumia Camera, or any game--after no more than 5 minutes of use, the phone gives a "Critical Low Battery" alert and shuts down. If I try to restart phone immediately, it makes it to the AT&T splash screen or lockscreen and then same battery message appears and shuts down. If I wait 10-15 minutes after the shutdown to restart phone (without recharging) the phone will stay on, but battery level will report to be in the low 20s or 10s (whereas no more than 20 minutes ago, it was 100%).
When phone is at 100% battery: I take 2-5 photos or record mere seconds of video and I get the same "Critical Low Battery" alert. Upon restarting, some of the photos or video are nonexistent or corrupt files and battery level is reported at 2-5%.
However, if my phone is plugged in to charger, none of these "Critical Low Battery" alerts come up and I am able to use phone as usual. Considering that I cannot take a vacation and capture nature's beauty with an AC adapter always connected, this is a serious drawback.
    Steps I've Taken:
    Soft-reset
    Full factory-reset
Moved all apps off microSD card (this improved situation maybe 5%)
Disabled almost all background app use in Battery Saver
Replaced microSD card when I thought this was a memory write/read issue
Installed "Battery" app to monitor battery use. After 750 data points were logged, my average battery life is reported at "16 minutes," which sounds about right.
My warranty should be expired since I purchased the phone December 2013, so I'm checking in here if anybody has had any luck with battery replacements or with a solution to this issue? At the same time, this issue arose strictly after updating to Denim and I've seen other users report this EXACT scenario. Is there any hope for Lumia 1520 users on this?
    Other reported cases:

  • Service PR amount is noyt reduced after Service PO creation  in CJI5 report

    Dear Experts,
When user created Service PO with T-code ME21, Service PR amount is not reduced from CJI5 report & also increased budget in CJ30.
But when user create PO with T-code ME21N, Service PR commitment is getting reduced after Service PO creation in CJI5.
    Please explain & propose solution.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Arvind

    Hiiii...
Note that there is no difference between creation of purchase order via the t.code ME21 or ME21N...what might be your problem in increase of assigned values is because the buyer (purchase dept) is not referencing the purchase requisition at the time of creation of purchase order as a result of which the system is not reducing the purchase requisition committment.
    Hope this helps....

  • Table space not reduce after delete in oracle 10g

    Hi..
Based on my system, i have found that my oracle table space did not reduce after the deletion query. Why ?.. Could somebody help me. As your info, I am using oracle 10g.
    Thank you,
    Baharin

After Delete the table space will not be set free. high water mark will not be reset. to regain the space you need to recognize the objects from which you deleted the data. This can be done in many ways.
    1) Move the objects.
Alter table temp move --> optionally tablespace clause can be used. After this you need to rebuild table indexes.
    2) With 10g table can be shrinked or reorganize to free the space.
    alter table mytable enable row movement;
    alter table mytable shrink space;
    3) Export/Import
export the objects and drop and recreate with import.

  • Table size not reducing after delete

The table size in dba_segments is not reducing after we delete the data from the table. How can i regain the space after deleting the data from a table.
    Regards,
    Natesh

I think when you do DELETE it removes the data but
it's not releasing any used space and it's still
marked as used space. I think reorganizing would help
to compress and pack all block and relase any unused
space in blocks. Why do you think that? Deleting data will create space that can be reused by subsequent insert/ update operations. It is not going to release space back to the tablespace to make it available for inserts into other tables in the tablespace, but that's not generally an issue unless you are permanently decreasing the size of a table, which is pretty rare.
Would you also please explain about different about
LOB and LONG ? or point me to any link which explain
baout it.From the Oracle Concepts manual's section on the LONG data type
    "Note:
Do not create tables with LONG columns. Use LOB columns (CLOB, NCLOB) instead. LONG columns are supported only for backward compatibility.
Oracle also recommends that you convert existing LONG columns to LOB columns. LOB columns are subject to far fewer restrictions than LONG columns. Further, LOB functionality is enhanced in every release, whereas LONG functionality has been static for several releases."
LONG was a very badly implemented solution to storing large amounts of data. LOBs are a much, much better designed solution-- you should always be using LOBs.
