Hi DIBV,
To further elaborate what Xandrex mentioned please follow the below steps -
To integrate a Post Office Protocol (POP) or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) email account using the Email Settings application from the BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following steps:
For BlackBerry Device Software 4.5-
1. Open Email settings on the BlackBerry smartphone.
2. Click Add an email account.
3. Enter the Email Address and Email Password, then click next.
4. If the BlackBerry Internet Service gives the following error: Invalid email address or password. Verify your email address and password. If the error persists, contact domain.com, select I will provide the settings.
5. Select POP/IMAP (Most common).
6. Enter the Email Server and User name, then press next.
The email account should then be successfully added.
Note: In some cases, I will provide the settings may not appear. To force this option to appear, enter an invalid email address such as [email protected] and an invalid password.

    Hello,
If you have, from your carrier, the proper data plan, then you can indeed integrate a POP3 account. See this information:

  • Can I sync my talktalk/Pop3 emails using iCloud?

I do not want to change from using my talktalk / pop3 email address to my icloud address. Is there a way that I can sync these emails across my iPad and PC? I have icloud up and running on both devises and use Outlook 2010 on th PC.

No, iCloud does not (and technically can not) 'sync' external POP3 email accounts.
If you want your email to be 'in sync' across multiple computers and devices, it just needs to be setup as IMAP (not POP3) on every device. You do not need iCloud to do this, and if you don't want to use an iCloud supplied email address then it couldn't help you with this anyway.
Contact your email provider and ask them for the IMAP email settings. Not all email providers offer IMAP, although most modern ones do. If they don't offer IMAP, then you are stuck. POP3 does not allow 'syncing' of email across multiple devices.

  • Cannot configure a POP3 email account.  Using OSX10.8.2

All of a sudden my wife's AT&T Yahoo mail account stopped working.  I looked at settings and found the account was changed to an IMAP instead a POP account.  I deleted the account and attempted to re-create it to no avail.  Seems when I put her account info in, it automatically creates an IMAP account.
How can force it to accept POP?
    Thanks

  • POP3 email marked as read on server before being read

Problem: Emails downloaded to my iPhone are marked as read on the server, even when they have not been read on either the iPhone, server/webmail or any other email client. When iPhone recieves a new email, it is listed as unread on the phone but on the server's webmail the same email will be listed as read. This sounds exactly like the problem described here, but unfortunately there was no solution to that discussion. The main issue for me when trying to find the new/unread email via webmail, when my inbox is sorted by conversation/thread, is that all the emails look the same. The new email is not highlighted differently (ie. unread) to the other 99 emails on the page and so is difficult to find.
More information: My iPhone is supplied by my employer and is used primarily for work. The primary mail account is configured to sync with my employer's Exchange server. This all works fine. I have added a second account to send/retrieve SMTP/POP3 email to/from my home ISP's mail server. This all works fine too (but with the above mentioned problem). With my previous phone (Windows Mobile), this same setup worked fine but without items on the server being marked as read.
Example: At work, on my PC, I have a web browser tab open on my home ISP's webmail page. The iPhone chimes and displays a new email notice on its lockscreen. Without touching the iPhone, I check my webmail on the PC to read the new email. In the list of emails in my webmail Inbox, the new email is already marked as read, even though I have not yet opened it on the iPhone nor via webmail. Futher to this, if I send myself an email from work to home, and immediately check my webmail, I can see the email listed as unread. Without opening the email, if I allow the iPhone to check for new email (or manually make it check) but do not open the new email, then refresh the webmail page, that new email has now become marked as read.
Further information: My ISP does not offer IMAP; this is stated very clearly on their user help/email setup wiki pages. My iPhone is configured to use their POP3 server address and port 110, the same as I have configured on my home PC. My work email account is configured for Push, my home account is configured for Fetch - hourly. The account advanced settings... Deleted Messages=never remove, Use SSL=off, Authentication=password, Delete from server=never, Server Port=110, S/MIME=off.
Any ideas that the heck is going on here?

Use OWA (Outlook Web Access) Not POP3 Settings
Use OWA (Outlook Web Access) Not POP3 Settings
Use OWA (Outlook Web Access) Not POP3 Settings
Okay.  This is doing this because your bb is not logging into the owa (outlook web access), it's using  POP3.  In order to use owa it must be enabled on your exchange server (ask your admin if you have this option).  An owa address is something like https://mail.yourcompay.com/owa, depending how your admin set this up it could be named something else.  You can either get to this option through your phone companys (BIS) website or on the bb itself.
If you use your phone companys website (BIS) to configure this option just log in and find the topic that reads something like this -
"How do I set up BlackBerry Internet E-mail using a My T-Mobile Account?"
This will give you the instruction for setting up the account for owa.  (Took me a little bit to find this in my tmobile account.)  During this setup there should be an option to check called use owa.  You have completed the setup and never saw that option then start over and find that option.
If you go through the bb's setting on the actual device the way to get to this option is kind of strange (at least it was the only way I could figure out how to get to it on my phone).
I started by deleting the email account off the phone then added a new account.  Go back to the account setting and change the password to a wrong password.  After you select "ok" or "next"  or whatever to get to the next screen you will get a message saying could not connect to server or error or something like that.  Now you should have a option to configure the device manually.  This option will get you to page to allow you to select OWA.  Then just configure you bb for owa and you are good to go.
Sorry this is such a crude post.  I usually take the time to give very accurate, step-by-step instructions, but I do not have time.  Good luck to all with this issue.

  • Torch 9850 and POP3 email servers

For the past several years my POP3 email account, via GoDaddy, has worked perfectly on my Torch and previously a Storm.  About three months ago, current emails from that account were not showing on my phone.  Now I receive emails that are two months old and they appear multiple times.  I deleted the account and reinstalled it but it doesn't work properly.  Using the email setup wizard, it shows the incoming server type as IMAP and I cannot change it to POP3.  Any advice?  This just seem to have happened.  I haven't added or deleted anything else so this makes no sense.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
With a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your configurations for the affected email accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
Do also be aware that you have no control over POP versus IMAP...BIS will use what it finds, and if it finds both, it will prefer the better functioning IMAP. If that is a problem for you, you will need to contact your email service provider.
    Good luck!

  • Syncing with POP3 email accounts

I'm just about at my wit's end, having spent the last few days trying to get MobileMe to do what Apple claims it can do. It can't.
That said, I now must figure out how to get my iPhone to directly access and sync with a couple of POP3 email account I have. I have tried going to settings, choosing "other", and adding in the correct info. It says that it "can't make the connection with SSL" and would I like to try without that, but when I say "OK", that doesn't work either.
Why is this so difficult? I replaced a Treo with this iPhone and am now having second thoughts. I mean, it can't access a POP3 account? What 90% of the world uses? I thought the iPhone was ready for "real" usage and not just a kid's phone. Frustrating. I just want to read my email... this should be "PDA 101"
OK, enough raving. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

Regarding email, what I was trying to do was have access to my already existing email, not the me.com email. He told me that I’d be able to sync my existing emails with MobileMe... but you can't, at least as far as I can tell.
A MM account can check the incoming mail server for a POP account - this option is available at the MM website. Messages received from a POP account will be downloaded to the Inbox mailbox for your MM account. The downside is when replying to or forwarding a message received from a POP account. The reply or forward will be sent from your MM account.
The idea is to use the MM email account as your email account. I've had a .Mac account for some time which was converted to a MM account. I moved quite a bit between 2000 and 2004. At the time, I was using the email account provided by my ISP. Every time I moved, I had to change my email address, and most ISPs don't provide or support an authenticated SMTP server. I started using a PowerBook as my primary computer in 2000 and if I wasn't connected to the internet via my ISP, I was unable to send messages with the email account provided by my ISP. I decided to start using my .Mac account as my primary email account which solved a number of problems for me. When moving, I didn't have to change my email address and since .Mac has an authenticated SMTP server, I was able to send messages with my .Mac account regardless the ISP used for my internet connection.
MM continues this for me with my PowerBook and with my iPhone. I can send messages with my MM account regardless the ISP used for my internet connection - with the Mail.app on my Mac, with the iPhone's Mail client, or with Outlook or OE on a Windows PC.
Meanwhile, I’ve set up these two email accounts and both can receive email but neither can send, although my me.com address will send & receive.
Because a MM account has an authenticated SMTP server, and your POP accounts probably don't. Who is the email account provider for these POP accounts?
I spent about 1/2 hour this afternoon with Apple tech support who couldn't figure that out and told me I need to do a complete factory reset on my iPhone, which will bring it back to original factory specs, causing me to loose all downloaded programs, information, etc., although I could back it up first with iTunes.
If you are syncing contact information and calendar events over the air with your MM account and your contact information and calendar events are available at the MM "cloud", this data will not be lost when doing a restore with iTunes. Other than that in regards to contact information and calendar events, the iPhone is designed to be synced with the supported application on your computer. If you aren't syncing contact information and calendar events over the air with your MM account, you should be syncing this data with the supported application on your computer and if so, this data remains on your computer and will not be lost when doing a restore with iTunes.
All downloaded applications from the app store should also be available in your iTunes library, which won't be lost when doing a restore.
iTunes creates and maintains a backup of your iPhone for all data on your iPhone not included with the sync process such as; most settings, SMS messages, notes, recent calls, call favorites, data stored on your iPhone by 3rd party applications, and photos captured by your iPhone - but I wouldn't depend on this one. Photos captured by your iPhone should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
Your iPhone's backup is updated if needed as the very first step during the sync process. Before restoring, the first step should be a sync to update your iPhone's backup if needed.
Since all data available on your iPhone is included with your iPhone's backup or should be available and remain on your computer such as your iTunes content, photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone, etc., nothing will or should be lost during the restore process.
I had a Treo before the iPhone and setting up the email on it took me about 5 minutes. The contacts and calendar sync flawlessly with Outlook, and the setup for that was probably 15 minutes.
Which application did you use to sync your Treo direct with Outlook on your computer for contact information and calendar events?
So my secondary point is that the iPhone is not really ready for corporate life yet unless you are willing to put a LOT of effort into setup, which I was.
A MobileMe account is not designed for business use - it is designed for personal use and the idea is using the MM email address and account as your primary email account/address.
I access my MM account and a business POP account with the iPhone's Mail client. Setup for both took minutes. Both accounts have an authenticated SMTP server and I've never had any problems sending with either account for over a year with my first generation iPhone, or with my iPhone 3G. This is when connected via various wi-fi networks with different ISPs and via EDGE or 3G.
If you are trying to access legacy POP accounts that don't have an authenticated SMTP server, you will have problems. I don't know what was different with your Treo in this regard, but the device has nothing to do with an ISP blocking the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the ISP being used for the internet connection unless the SMTP server is authenticated. Most if not all ISPs block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the ISP unless the SMTP server is authenticated. This has nothing to do with the iPhone.

  • Accessing a non-BT POP3 email server from Outlook ...

I recently moved from Onetel to BT and am trying to set up an Outlook account to operate my Onetel account . In the Outlook account setup page, I have inserted my Onetel email address and password and put 'mail.onetel.com' into the Incoming Server field. I can now read my Onetel emails, but no matter what I put into the Outgoing server field, Outlook cannot send a test message from my BT account. I assume that I need to put 'mail.btinternet.com' into the field and also that I need to put something into the Outgoing Server page in the dialogue box that comes up when I hit the More Settings button on the Outlook setup page. No matter what I put in, I seem to get into a loop with a dialogue box asking me to authenticate by inserting my email address and password. I can live without the ability to reply to Onetel emails from my BT account, but I have desire for communications neatness and am keen to learn more about POP3 email. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your clear and concise help. It has worked first time. Thank you also for the warning me about Talktalk. So far I have not been bothered by them, possibly because on leaving them I advised them that, as I am served by an unbundled Exchange, they cannot possibly compete with BT for Broadband provision (at least not after you have had BT change you from a fixed connection to a modern box that splits the data from the phone, and then have them unthrottle your line so that you get 3.2Mbps, rather than 700Kbps at best). One of their operatives told me that my exchange was being unbundled within two months in an attempt to keep me as a customer, but when I checked with their technical team, I was told that they had no plan to unbundle our exchange in the foreseeable future. I reported this to the Call Centre Manager in Mumbai and he apologised to me. Let us hope that that holds them at bay for a while.
Has anyone told BT that they confuse users from the start by asking you to look for Mail Options rather than More Options?

    Hi Spuddo.
The Mail Options/More Options is based on either the webmail Classic or "Beta/Pretty" interface. My shortcuts option 0e (similar to the page Geoff mentioned - though to be frank I wrote my stuff back in March 2008 initially) gives details as well including pictures.

  • POP3 email on Nokia E72

Just got a Nokia E72 and have setup my POP3 email.
Email is received only if Outlook 2007 is not open.  If Outlook collects the emails before the E72 then the E72 does not receive it at all.  Is this right?
Also, and more frustrating, an email received on the E72 is deleted on the next sync.  Not a lot of use really.
Can anyone give me some guidance on what is happening and what the solution is.
I also have a windows live account which works on IMAP.  That seems to work just fine!
    thanks
    Tony

Don't know why it works but we did the following: (and may work for other Virgin Media email addresses)
    1. Set up a googlemail account (user/details don't matter)
    2. Go online on your PC and set your NTL webmail to forward to it.
    3. Delete your NTL email account on the E72 and then re-create it using "new mailbox" (you should only need to enter your NTL email address and NTL password)
    4. Then on the E72 go in to settings of the new NTL mailbox. In account settings or mailbox settings there is box which only shows the user (or username) as the first part of your NTL email address (the bit before the @, without the @ and the bit after).  Just add     "   recent:   "  with no gap before the 'name' and press OK and then exit. Do not do this where your complete email address is shown.
    5. If in addition to your main PC you also use another secondary device e.g. a laptop to retrieve emails just add    "   recent:   "  before your user name in the email settings.

  • Email setup problem on 6760 slide.

What can I do if the email setup function on my new 6760 slide goes all the way through and then fails.  This has happened with a normal personal POP email account with just a password and with a business IMAP account with SSL security.  Is there another way to set email up?  Is there a known bug?

    Hello everyone,
I have discovered a workaround that solves this issue:
    1. On the list of mail clients, scroll down to the bottom and select 'Other'
    2. Enter a nonsense email address e.g. [email protected] and password
    3. Proceed through the 'Validating e-mail account' message, than select the 'POP/IMAP' option
    4. Now, change the fields to reflect your valid email account settings.
Hotmail/Live users can follow these guidelines:
    Email address: your email address
    Username: your email address
    Password: your email address password
    Mailbox Type: POP3
    Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com
    Incoming mail security: SSL/TLS
    Incoming port number: 995
    Outgoing mail server: smtp.live.com
    Outgoing mail security: StartTLS
    Outgoing port number: 465
You can find alternate settings for different accounts fairly easily by searching on the web.
    5. You will then proceed to the mailbox screen (and hopefully your emails). From this point onwards you can enter the settings menu and change the above settings again if you need to.
You can also change the preferred connection type in here.
I found that i needed to change the default connection (that the mail application had chosen) to my WAP connection.
After this, my emails were fully funtional.
Hopefully, this will help a few of you,
    Regards,
    Luke.

  • Email setup woes

I've had my original iPhone for almost 2 years now and the email has always worked fine. I recently changed the settings on my desktop PC Outlook 2007 email accounts to IMAP but didn't like it so I reverted back to POP3. I changed my iPhone email settings during the process and had a hard time getting it back to normal.
My POP accounts on my PC are working fine.
    Incoming server: mail.mydomain.com / Port 110
    Outgoing server: mail.mydomain.com / Port 26
    SSL: Off on all
I have the settings above setup exactly on my iPhone but have a few problems/questions about my iPhone email setup:
    1) The bottom of the email screen ALWAYS says, "Updated 8/8/09 9:00 AM - *1 Unsent Message*". I can't find any unsent messages anywhere but that darn message ALWAYS appears. I can't get rid of it.
    2) This one is strange... One of my outgoing SMTP servers is: "AT&T Server". I have it turned off and cannot delete or edit it. The Host name is "cwmx.com" a Chinese/Japanese website. Looks odd to me.
    3) Since I am going to use POP3 what is the best setting for deleted messages:
    -Never
    -Afer one day
    -After one week, or
    -After one month?
    4) Per #3 above what about my desktop PC Outlook 2007 account settings email 'Delivery Options'. What is best:
    - Leave a copy of the messages on the server
    - Remove after XX days
    - Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'
    Any help is appreciated.

it could be the software as i had that same problem, but needed to exchange the phone because of other problems in addition to that.you may need to set up BES if you haven't already.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will then have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.

  • LG Ally - deleting pop3 emails from trash folder

I have three pop3 email accounts set up on my LG Ally. All work great - however, deleting the all the emails in the trash folder is cumbersome. Is there a way to delete all the emails in the "trash folder" at one?  I can only seem to delete them by tapping each email individually and then tapping delete. This is a really slow process.
Also, is there a way to adjust my pop3 email settings so that the trash folder is deleted automatically every so often?
    Thank you!

There is not a delete all option to delete all the emails at once for  the default email application.   You also can not set a schedule to delete the trash folder.   There are other email applications with more customization options on the Android Market Place.

I seem to be having the same problem as others with the email setup application.
When I updated my Blackberry to the new OS6, I went to my email setup and it said "looking for updates"
It finds a new update from my already installed email setup app 6.0.0 to the new 6.11.0419.0755.
When I click "download" it says replace existing version? I click "yes"
The it says: "com.rim.bis.client" contains a different version of module "net_rim_bis_client" which is also used by email setup application. If you proceed, "email setup application" may cease to function properly. proceed?
If I click "yes proceed" it crashes my blackberry and it will not reboot and I have to do a complete hard reboot, wipe the device and reload everything from my backup on blackberry desktop.
If I click "no" not to proceed, I cannot open the email setup application.
I have tried downgrading to version 5 of the OS, I have rebooted with a battery pull, crashed my blackberry twice and spent hours reloading all my applications and systems.  I am at the end of my rope, and I don't know what else to do?!
