BDLS failed in new system

Hi all,
We are experiencing an error when runing BDLS in SAP BW 7.0.
To give you an overview, I am working on a new production system called BWP (copy of an acceptance system).
Attached to this new BW system, we have a new source system called BRP.
In order to change the source system of the old system, I run BDLS (after a successfull test run) with the second option (following a client copy). I noticed that unfortunately, nothing was changed.
So, I decided to run BDLS again with the first option.
First, I did a successfull test run, and I noticed that much more table will be converted.
After the test run, I launched the real conversion...
Unfortunately, after a while, BDLS is stop and I have the following message:
"The datasource XX_XX_XXXX_XXXX(BRP100)" does not exist in object version A".
On my side I tried lot of things:
- I tried to activate the datasource, but it's not working.
- I tried to change value in the table RSDS (datasource) but one more time it didn't worked.
- I tried to reconnect the original system to replicate the datasource in order to activate it, but it didn't work.-
Do you have any ideas how to bypass this error?
If you have any experience to share about BDLS, do not hesitate

Hi,
This is error code RSDS062. It means that the datasource cannot be found in the tbl RSDS.
So search in RSDS for the datasource, & check what version it is.
If OBJVER is M, then it must be activated.
Did you follow SAP Note 886102 for the system copy?
You need to follow each step of the scenario pertaining to your copy.
When running BDLS, generally four scenarios can happen:
1) no records for either the old or the new name -> table skipped
2) records with the old name exist -> conversion goes through
3) records with the new name exist -> table skipped with warning =>
manual intervention needed, but doublecheck is recommended. In th
case the conversion log shows '<<' at the affected tables.
4) records with the old and the new name coexist -> records are skip
with warning or error (depending on the flag for existence check,
which is always set except test conversions) -> you have to analy
the records and to manually delete that records which hold the ol
logical name and have their identical counterparts which are hold
    the new name.
Also, implement these notes if missing from your BW system:

  • System Landscape New system connection fails

    Hi,
I've configured SSO between ECC6 (ABAP stack) and Portal EP7 (AS Java Stack) and now when I test the new System Landscape Object connector it fails with the following message.
"Connection failed. Make sure user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct."
All the SSO settings look to be OK in the Visual Admin and in STRUSTSSO2, SSO2 they are all green. The test for the Connector and the JCO connections is failing. The JCO ping tests fine and I'm able to log into the portal and see the UME and ABAP users in identity management. I've opened an oss message for this but have not had a reply as of yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Jim V

    Hi James,
Thank you for replying. The connector or Connection is the one that is failing. I used the correct template for creating the system (SAP ABAP Stack) backend connection. The SAP_HR_MasterData (JCO) connection fails as a result but the ping test tests fine. I've gone thru the UME and Landscape (Connector) configuration about 10 times making sure it is correct. I called to escalate the OSS message but still no reply.
    Thanks,

  • CCC or Disk Utility to clone a Mac HD of one new iMac to another, over ThunderBolt, we are getting I/O errors. Even though the clone fails, the destination  system does boot and log in, however, the logins take a very very very long time.

When using CCC (Carbon Cophy Cloner) or Disk Utility to clone a Mac HD of one new iMac to another, over ThunderBolt, we are getting I/O errors. Even though the clone fails, the destination  system does boot and log in, however, the logins take a very very very long time.
    Thoughts.
Edit: Already ran Disk Utility. Also reinstalled a fresh OS on top of the cloned OS and it seemed to remedy the problem. Then, cloned to next machine in the row of the lab. Same problem.

OK, by that I assume that you used Disk Utility to repair the subject disk and it reported "The volume (name) appears to be OK" in green.
Also verify you followed the instructions here: http://help.bombich.com/kb/usage-scenarios/i-want-to-clone-my-entire-hard-drive- to-a-new-hard-drive-or-a-new-machine
If so, the Thunderbolt connection begins to look suspicious.
Reinstalling OS X subsequent to the "clone" operation may be an acceptable workaround but you should not have had the I/O errors you describe, nor should the login times (subsequent to the initial login, that is) be unacceptably long. It calls into question the integrity of all the information that was transferrred.
I'll try to attract the attention of a CCC expert who will likely provide more competent assistance. You can also try the Bombich support site: http://help.bombich.com

My Windows 7 Professional desktop system hard disk got corrupted and I took the opportunity to install an SSD for a new system disk and reinstall Windows.  The system is up and running on the SSD, with my old system disk now used for storage as it is still readable.  The only Adobe product I have reinstalled so far is Reader XI but I would like to reinstall Elements 8 and Acrobat 9 without taking up more licences as both are also installed on my laptop.  Can you point me to the best way to do this?  - Thanks

  • Hard drive failing, need new Mac, how can I keep iTunes 10.7

I've got a mini mac, ca. 2009.  The hard drive has begun to fail, and the external monitor is also beginning to go (once all-black screens is now mostly pale grey.
I have 75,000 songs on an external drive.  I tried iTunes 11 when it came out, and had to roll back to 10.7 because iTunes 11 is simply not capable of managing a large library.  Lack of multiple screens alone is enough to drive me away.
When I asked at the Apple store if there is any way to keep iTunes 10, they laughed in my face, then got the Apple-knows-better-than-you tone and said there is no way to use an "inferior" version of itunes anymore.
    Is there any hope?

Any new Mac will come with the newest iTunes installed.  Now something I don't really know much about but could be an issue is according to what I have read iTunes is now more intergrated into the system of the Mac.  It used to be a pretty much stand-alone application which you didn't even have to install.  How integrated I don't know.  It may still be possible to delete iTunes using one of the many reverting back to an older version method posted here. Using older operating system components is not something you can do though, since they may well cause instability in a computer that was designed with a newer system in mind.  However, I don't know if iTunes is really that much part of the system.
Realize also that you will be forced to upgrade should you ever buy an i-device since those require the version of iTunes current when you make the purchase.
Here's a downgrade post I had in my archives:
Back up your computer first, in case the unexpected happens
Here's a step-by-step method and you may find it easier to follow than alternative methods I have posted below.
    Downgrade iTunes 11 to iTunes 10.7 - http://www.emacconsulting.com/apple/itunes/downgrade-itunes-11-to-itunes-10-7/
If the above does not work, or you want to do it without Pacifist, or you want to know what is actually going on when downgrading, or you encounter error messages, here's more details:
    Quit iTunes.
Get iTunes 10.7 from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576 or the direct download link at:  http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
Do a few preparatory steps by making sure all iTunes components are not running and cleaning old files.   See https://discussions.apple.com/message/20475394.  Do steps 3 and 4.  Steps 6-8 may be also useful but I don't know if they are essential.  Some of the other steps are not necessary, duplicate steps listed later in my post or are perhaps even unhelpful in the process.
Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7.  Simply dragging the application to the trash may not work. Lion (OSX 10.7) and newer systems have iTunes integrated into the operating system and deleting is a bit more involved.  Two ways to do this are:
    1.  (Easier) Use the shareware Pacifist utility (http://www.charlessoft.com/) to install iTunes 10.7 including all associated system files. Details at http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=16400819&postcount=6
    2. (More work) Check this reference on how to delete the iTunes application itself:
Delete iTunes in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion - http://osxdaily.com/2011/09/13/delete-itunes-in-mac-os-x-10-7-lion/
After deleting the application there may be other files that need downgrading too. See the note about error -42408 at the end of this post. You may want to tuck these away somewhere safe until you have completed the installation of iTunes 10.7.  I have not tested this but ideally if newer versions are not found then the installer will put in the old versions. This may include these files in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ which apparently get updated by iTunes 11:
    AirTrafficHost.framework
    CoreFP.framework
    DeviceLink.framework
    iTunesAccess.framework
    MobileDevice.framework
After doing one of the two procedures above you will have to rescue the most recent old iTunes library from your iTunes > Previous Libraries folder. Rename it "iTunes Library.itl"  and replace the existing one in the iTunes folder. A newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file so you have to replace it with the old one or you will get an error message. Note, this will revert your library to the version at the time of the upgrade and you will have to update any changes made since.  See:

  • IBook G4 - Upgrade or Buy New System

I need help making a decision: is it reasonable to upgrade my iBook G4 (RAM, operating system) (+bigger hard drive?); or do I need to abandon it and buy a newer system? My considerations are: 1) DC-inboard is probably flaky. Even with a new power supply and power adapter, the battery intermittently stops charging (the LED light goes out). I have to unplug it from the power strip and move the plug to a different outlet on the strip to get it going again. 2) I'm using Safari 1.3.2 and more web sites are thumbing their noses at my "unsupported/outdated" browser. 3) The other software I use is fairly basic: MS Word 98 (running under Classic); Reunion; Photoshop Elements 2.0; Appleworks 6.0. 4) The hard drive has about 15mb free. 5) It might be Christmas but I am seriously unemployed, which is why I have been waffling over this decision for months. Thanks for y'all's suggestions.

    Hi, UUWoman:
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
It might be Christmas but I am seriously unemployed
That's a difficult place to be. I know as some of my family are there. However, even with your tight finances, it seems to be that updating your computer will be more cost effective than purchasing a new or newer computer. Let's take your issues in order..
    1. We'll begin with the HDD. Your drive is dangerously full. Besides, your computer is now 5 years old. The average life of a laptop internal HDD is 3 to 5 years. So in addition to your drive being too full it is liable to fail without notice. I believe that is your top priority. You can buy a new HDD for $50 to $100. If you can install it yourself you will save $75 or so. The DC-in board can be changed at the same time. Cost less than $20.
Instead of Safari I suggest you try Camino 1.6.10, which looks like Safari, but it is faster, more stable and more powerful. Free download.
So, your costs so far would be, let's say $75 for a new HDD, $20 for the DC-in Board if you do it yourself, or add $75 for installation. For less than $200 you will have your computer functional again. You will need around $700 for a used MacBook or $1000 for a new one.
May I suggest that if you are unable to upgrade your drive and you have valuable information on it, that you back it up immediately. You can also try to lean things down, but with so little HDD free capacity you hardly have room for working. Dr. Smoke's FAQ Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk is an excellent guide for clearing some breathing space.
Please do post back with further questions or comments.

  • New system does not boot properly

I just set up a new system with:
     a MS-6728 Neo2 FIS2R Mobo,
    1gb Geil PC-3500 RAM (2x512),
    2.6C proc.
2 Maxtor 120gb IDE drives RAID 0 with the onboard promise controller.
    Lite-On DVD burner
    ATI radeon 9800 video card
Enermax 300 watt power supply with:
    3.3v - 28amp
    5v - 30amp
    12v 22amp
    170watt total 3.3/5 combined
My problem is that my system NEVER boots up normally.  It always freezes in the bios startup.  The D-bracket stops at almost every possible combination of led's, which according to the manual the problems were:  Testing RTC, Initialize Video interface, Testing memory, Initializing floppy controller, Memory detection, Decompressing bios to ram, possibly more.  Sometimes I also just get beeping, either a continuous beep or 8 beeps.  A few times it would display the bios startup screen, but halfway down would be gibberish characters and would be locked up.  When I then turn the computer off then on again, the bios is reset at least somewhat(i know because I usually disable the full screen image on startup) and says memory timings are too tight, and I have the choice to enter bios or hit any key to automatically fix things.  If I hit any key it will boot up ok.  However when I restart/turn off the computer, the next time it again does not boot.  I tried upping the ram voltages from 2.5-2.9v, and that seems to stay that way in the bios, even when it resets itself.  Everything else is set to auto/slow.  If I try to manually adjust the memory timings, even to the slowest possible settings, it does not boot, and I must turn it on/off a few times till the bios resets again, with the boot process stopping at one of the possiblilitys mentioned above.    Using the info tab on speedfan, I got the memory info, and it displayed the voltage at 2.5v, not sure what that means but it is strange.
    What I have already attempted:
I sent back the ram and got a new set, which hasn't changed anything.  The first time the other ram failed memtest, this time it passed(for about 2 hrs).  So I don't think its the ram.
I borrowed an antec truepower 430w powersupply, which had no effect.
I went back to bios version 1.3 from 1.9, which also seems to have no effect.
I was hoping to overclock the system a bit and enable performance mode etc etc, but now I'll be happy to just not have to go through a song and dance everytime I restart the computer.  This is only the second computer I have built from scratch, and the first with raid, but that seemed to all go ok.  Please help me diagnose the problem!

I too am having problems with my system.
    865PE Neo2-FIS2R
    2 Maxtor 120GB S-ATA drives, RAID 0, Promise
    2 512MB Geil Ultra CL2-3-3-6
    HP CD-RW
What IDE settings are you using?
    E.g...Native? P-ATA Only...all of those settings
For me...sometimes XP will install and boot...but eventually system is unstable and XP crashes and corrupts itself...Event Manager errors different each time
Someone mentioned problems with Maxtor and AMI BIOS...anything I should keep in mind?
Sorry about all the different questions.  I'm sure exactly where my problem lies.  MSI thinks it may be my memory AND/OR on-board IDE controller since I can't get the on-board Intel RAID setup to consistently "see" and setup my RAID drives...even when it has worked...XP doesn't like the Intel configured RAID drives.  Also tried just one S-ATA drive through on-board Intel and Promise.  Next I will try a plain old IDE Hard Drive...no S-ATA...and make sure my memory passes memtest86+ testing.
Any other gems you can offer for this config???  Thanks.

  • BDLS failing with ASSERTION_FAILED dump

    Dear Experts,
We have replaced the existing quality system DF0 with RC0.These both system are quality systems and RC0 has been refreshed from production.
So in BW qulaity system we need to replace the DF0 with RC0 as source system. I have created logical system name LSRC0310 for RC0 in BW qulaity system and ran a BDLS to convert DF0 to RC0. But it is giving a dump ASSERTION_FAILED.
Earlier it failed with error that logical system LSRC0310 name alreday exists. So i deleted the logical system name and ran BDLS but it again failed with same error.I have checked the logs and it just makes an entry in table TBDLS, TBDLST. The logs in BDLSS also says that the conversion went in error with "Error in field of table . Manual correction required."
Thus the source system DF0 is not replaced in RSA1 also i can still see cubes pointing to DF0.
I have referred to Modify source system link but it is failing in the BDLS step so cannot proceed ahead.
Please can you guide and help is solving this issue.
    Regards,
    KUldeep.

    Thanks Walter for your reply.
This note is already present in the system and still BDLS fails with this message.
I hope my approach is correct.
Currently source system is DF0 and we want to convert to RC0. So running a BDLS will convert all the logical source system names for all the transfer structure and DTPs and transformations. Then after BDLS step i can restore the source system in RSA1.
Please confim if my this is feasible.
    Regards,
    Kuldeep.

  • BDLS in productive ERP system

I have an interesting requirement.  A customer is currently running R/3 4.7 with multiple countries.  They want to split the system so one country has it's own system.  The approach has been to take the existing 3-system landscape and perform a homogeneous system copy to a new landscape.  The catch is that they want to use the same corporate BI system for reporting, so BDLS must be run in the new landscape since these new systems will be connecting to the same BI system as the originals.
We know SAP doesn't officially support running BDLS in a productive system like this, but we don't see any other options.  I've looked at the SAP Landscape Transformation documents, and while the Solution Map references "Split Systems" under the "Consolidate and Reduce IT Cost" Scenario, the guides don't include any documentation for this scenario.
I've split systems before, for example when a company sells off a subsidiary, but in those instances we left the old logical system intact.
Does anyone have any suggestions that would allow us to split the production system and have both resulting systems connect to the same BI system for reporting purposes?
    Thanks,
    Rich

My suggestion would be to run BDLS to change the logical system name of the ECC client only on the copied system.
Do not run the BDLS for changing the logical system name for BI client  in the copied ECC system.
Before you do such a critical activity , make sure you simulate the steps on a temporary environment i.e building test systems for simulation. This would be quite a good approximation of the things to come .

  • BASIC PREPARATION FOR INSTALLATION OF A NEW SYSTEM

Here is some advice on the steps to take for a successful installation of Snow Leopard (or any major system update or upgrade):
    1. Do not start until you have made two bootable back-ups, so that you can easily return to the situation you had before the installation, if something goes wrong. A bootable back-up is a back-up of everything on your drive to an external drive and made "bootable" (that is, you can boot off this external drive to restore your main drive to its pre-existing condition). There are a number of pieces of software which make bootable back-ups. For little money, you can use Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper. I use Synchronize Pro X, which costs a bit but is industrial strength software. Over the years, I've found that SPX does the job much faster than CCC or SD, and, most importantly, Qdea (the SPX people) puts out a new version of SPX to deal with the new system or update much more quickly than do any of the other back-up software people. Sometimes you won't get the new version of CCC or SD until quite a while after the release of the new system software, and you're not able to make a bootable back-up in time, if you want to install the new system software quickly. HAVING A BOOTABLE BACK-UP IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY TO ENSURE THAT YOU DON'T LOSE ANY DATA AND THAT YOU CAN RECOVER QUICKLY IF THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH AN INSTALLATION. Test the bootable back-up by booting off it before you try the installation of the new software.
    2. Verify and Repair your main drive and Repair Permissions before doing any major installation. You want your drive data to be in excellent shape before putting in a new system or update. When the installation is done, repair the permissions again.
    3. Check carefully for any information about the compatibility of the new system software with your primary applications and peripherals (in particular, printers). Even with a good new installation, you may lose a printer if it's old and there's no new driver for it. Don't be surprised after the installation that you've lost the use of your printer or other important peripheral device.
    4. If you run into problems, check the Apple discussion forums to see if someone else had the same problems and find out what they did to solve them.

You may be able to make a bootable back-up with DU, but DU can't do a quick update of the back-up as time progresses. The beauty of a piece of software like Synchronize Pro X is that, once you have a bootable back-up, you can quickly update it week by week. SPX can very quickly find the changes in your master drive and put those changes on the bootable back-up. With DU you have to start from scratch each time to make a whole new disk image.
A bootable back-up isn't just for use to protect against an installation problem. I've had a computer stolen in a hotel room, and I was able to use a friend's computer (which was also a Mac) to keep working. I just hooked up my back-up, booted off it and now his computer appeared to be my computer, because my bootable back-up recreated my usual work environment on his computer.
Similarly, if your main drive fails, you've lost nothing if you have a bootable back-up. You're up and running again very quickly.
I keep my bootable back-ups up-to-date always. And with Synchronize Pro X, this is very quickly and easily done.

  • New System Autentication

    Hi All,
If connected my SAP ERP Development system to Business Objects. In SM59 the connection test is OK, and in /CRYSTAL/RPTADMIN also OK.
Now the problem is that I want to connect the Productive system, that is locates in other server, diferent from the development system. I've changed the values in the registry (regedit) to meet the new system informations. But when trying the SM59 Connection Test, it returns the following:
    Logon     connection error
Error when opening an RFC connection
ERROR: Struture connection to port conv.SAP failed (port conv.SAP

Can someone, help me on this?

    Hi Ingo,
I'll try to explain better this time.
In one of the systems, I could create the RFC destination in SM59, and the connection test as been sucessful.
Then I tryed to do the same thing (create the RFC destination) in the other two systems (Productive and Tests systems). In SM59 the connection test is not working, returning the initial reported error.
I will show you the configuration information used to the systems:
DEV (the one that is working fine):
    Program ID: SVSAPBO_PUBLISH
    Host Gateway: svsapdeverp1.sapdom.internal.inatel.pt
    Gateway Service: 3300
PRD (Productive system one of those that are not working):
    Program ID: SVSAPBO_PUBLISH
    Host Gateway: svsapprderp1.sapdom.internal.inatel.pt
    Gateway Service: 3300
TST (Tests system one of those that are not working):
    Program ID: SVSAPBO_PUBLISH
    Host Gateway: svsaptsterp.sapdom.internal.inatel.pt
    Gateway Service: 3300
    Is it clear now?
    Thanks in advance,
    Miguel
