Benefit or drawback to define plant at sales organization level

at the time of creation of sales organization i have define plant at sales organization level.
there is another setup in IMG and that is "Assign sales organization - Distribution Channel - Plant".
what is the purpose of plant at sales organization level and what impact will occure if i assign plant on sales organization -distribution channel - Plant level. ?
kindly assit me that what will be better should i define plant at the time of creation sales organization of should i use IMG setup "Assign sales organization - Distribution Channel - Plant". ?

Hi there,
When maintaining the material master, you extend the material to the sales org / distribution channel. If plant is not assigned to sales org / distribution channel, system will not allow you to extend the material to the sales org. That is the implication here.
Also when raising the sales org, you raise it with respect to a sales area in VA01. When you enter a material in Va01, system will throw an error that plant isnot defined for the sales area is it is not assigned to sales org / dist channel.
When defining the sales org you assign a plant there meaning that the sales org can be fulfilled by that plant. You can ofourse change the plant proposed by the system. Again when you change the plant, system will throw an error if it is not assigned to sales org / dist channel.

    One Sales Organization can be assigned to only One Company Code.
    One Company Code can have several Sales Organization assigned to it.
    Hence, it is not possible to merge two Company Code to one Sales Organization.

  • Authorizations....Sales organization level

    Hi all
    I want to create the authorizations for the sales organization level. I have made the Sales Organization Object authorization relevant. After that i created an authorization object based on the Sales org object. I created a roles and created a profile based on the authorization object which i created. i assigned the role to the user.
    Now when i execute my query in web it is saying that
    'No Authorization (Or Everything is Filtered Out)'
    On the top of the query execution it is giving me a message as
    'You do not have authorizations for component 0CRM_OPMO_Q001'
    Now i would like to know, when we create profile in the role, do we need to add any other authorization objects apart from the one which we created. If so, what options do i need to give.
    And second when we create a test user for the authorizations testing, what roles we need to give him, one would be the one which we generated. And what are the other roles the user will have.
    Please help

    If sounds like you have another authorization object
    "checked" on the infocube/ODS.
    To check this, you have two options.
    (1)RSSMQ, with the user id. Execute the query, then back up (using the green arrow). One page on the back up operation with give you what authorization objects are checked.
    (2) Go to transaction: RSSM and enter the infoprovider. Uncheck the authorizations you don't want to have verified.
    Also, you on the variable for the authorization object (query) you must enter a value here if you do not have an "*" object.

  • TVKWZ : Org.Unit: Allowed Plants per Sales Organization

    Hello,
    At one of the implementations which is doing intercompany postings with SO-PO model has 250,000 records to be created in this table.
    1. Is this okay to have such a huge number of records in this table ?
    2. Is there any way BDC, LSMW method to load these records since this is a config. table.

    Are there really 250000 plants available for this sales org. I think there is something wrong in this.
    Please think of what are the essential criteria for the consultant to create a separate plant and create separate plants only if the criteria is met. Also please discuss with a MM consultant on reducing these plants. I really cant see morethan single digit number of plants having the need to be assigned to a sales org.

  • Pros and Cons not determining / having a Delivery Plant in Sales Order?

    Hi Mates
    Here I have come-up with one more (weired?) requirement from my client.
    We have two plants manufacturing same product and supplying to all customers (some time in same sales order with two different line items).
    At the timeof creating a sales order, marketing does't know from which plant the material will move and hence they don't want to fill the Delivering Plant field (VBRP-BUKRS at Shipping tab) for each Item.
    They are insisting me to map it as above though I had explained about various pros and cons for not determining a mandatory delivery plant
    in sales order like the requirements and shipping stuff.
    Yet, yet they want this.
    Has anyone come across this kind of requirement before? What best you had done for that?
    Can I ask you what are the Pros and cons on not having a Delivery Plant at Sales Order level?
    what if I could determine it Delivery level?
    Any comments, suggestions, replies and advices are taken humbly.

    Yest it is VBAP-WERKS (typo error ).
    Infact I had given the same solution for the issue.
    Interstingly, they are insisting on a better solution fit for their requirement. Anyway shall 'highlight' the points again to them try to get it solved

    "In a delivery with internal offsetting, the system determined during the
    plant check that the plant has different sales area data from the header
    sales area data determined for internal offsetting."
    How can I link finance and logical sales organization ?

    There is no link between Finance sales organization and logistic sales organization
    Look at the following points in spro for the intercompany billing:
    Sales and Distribution > Billing > Intercompany Billing > Assign Organizational Units By Plant
    Sales and Distribution > Billing > Intercompany Billing > Define Internal Customer Number By Sales Organization

    here's the menu path in IMG: Enterprise Structure -> Definition -> Sales and Distribution -> Define... sales organization
    But please note: this is definitely an optional task, it's only for statistical purposes. For reporting purposes you should still be able to get all your analyses based on the organizational assignments of the sites (site master) and also in the business documents (e.g. in purchase order header data) Anyhow, there's one restriction: if you do this, then the purchasing organization in question has to be assigned as standard purchasing organization to those sites, that have the sales organization assigned (further purchasing organizations could still be assigned then).
    From a business process point of view the sales organization - purchasing organization assignment is of no relevance.
    There might be one aspect related to Retail Pricing: if you forgot to assign a reference site for pricing (you should do this though! - Logistics General -> Retail Pricing -> Sales Price Calculation -> Assign Pricing Type/Reference Site to Organizational Level), the system could use that purchasing organization for supply source determination.

    I'm facing an issue when creating an order and trying to input a material on it.
    I'm receiving the above error when I try to insert this material...the material is extended to that combination and also the customer I'm using is created for that sales area. (div. 09).
    Is there something else I should check?

    Assign sales org and distribution channel to plant
    Here you have to check whether your plant OMNM is assigned to the combination of sales organization 0362 dist.chan 02 in the activity assign sales org and distribution channel to plant
    Also check whether the delivering plant is maintained in sales org data 1 of MMR
    Also some other important checks
    1.Check whether your customer and materials are created in the correct sales areas
    2.T code VOR1 common distribution channels
    3.T code VOR2 common divisions
    4.T code OVAO combine sales orgs
    5.T code OVAM combine distribution channels
    6.T code OVAN combine divisions
    7.T code OVAZ assign sales order types to sales areas
    After all these checks please log off from SAP for a minute and the relog and test with a fresh order

  • Fast Change function to change plants in sales order

    Hi All,
    Once the plant is determined in sales order, thru the option "edit fast change-->plants", one can change the plants at line item level.
    my issue is Iam using a BOM material in sales order. In the line item, the main material has plant 3019 and the component material has plant 3019..... now when  i use the fast change function to change plant 3019 to plant 4500 for main material and component material, the system changes the plant  to 4500 for component material but does not change the plant to 4500 for main material in sales order.
    why it is so. The bom material and its components are defined for both plants 3019 and 4500.
    Do the fast change of plant  function does not work for BOM main material

    As far as my understanding goes, the fast change of plants is there only for sales order line item. So it will not change at the BOM level.
