Benefits of using business packages (hr)

hi all
i want to know what are the advantages of using business packages (in terms of HR module).and what sort of BP's are available for this.
Thanks And Regards
yogesh

Hello yogesh,
If you speak of package for transport order like Z001,
I advise you to use BP' S specific like Z001 or other because by transaction SE80, you can see all the objects related to this package.
For me it's just organisational benefits.

  • Best Practice in using Business Packages

    Hi All,
Are there any Best Practices in the use of Business Package content?   Do you assign the Roles delivered by the Business Package and do you make changes to the original iViews?
    or
Do you copy the content delivered in the Business Package to a new folder and work with there?
These questions are purely at the configuration level and not at the Java coding level.   For instance if I want to turn of the iView Tray, or change a parameter such as height, or even remove an iView from a page or Role.
I would like to know the various approaches the SDN community uses and the different challenges and benefits that result in each approach.
Look forward to hearing from you all
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
I also build my own roles. The only time I might use the standard roles is for demo purposes early in a project.  You will find that in some cases the business packages like MSS don't always even include standard roles, so you have no choice but to build.
I never change any of the standard iViews/Pages/Worksets - ever.
The most contentious issue seems to be whether to do a full or delta link copy of the standard objects.  I tend to initially do a full copy of the objects into a custom folder set in the PCD and modify those. Then I only use delta links from Page to iViews where I need the option of setting different properties for the same iView if it appears in multiple pages.  Delta links can be a bit flakey at times, so I tend to only use them where I have to.  I suspect that I may get to a point where I don't use them at all.
    Just my 2 cents worth....

    John

  • Using Business packages

I have imported a business package and when i open the folder 'Portal content' i can see the iViews, Pages, Roles, ... .
    What should i do next?
    Thanks in advance,
    Timo

We have just started with the EP 6.0 SP2. To discover how it works i have imported the BP for iViewStudio because we do not need a connection with a R/3 system to use this business package and we can try the portal immediately. The problem is not the specific BP but how to use any BP in the portal.
I have found several documents about how to import a BP, but i cannot find any information about what to do after the BP is imported. My first goal is to try to get the workset for iViewStudio available to myself or any other user, but i have got no idea how to that.

  • Using Business Package Components

    Hi,
How to use the Standard WD component delivered with Business Packages ?
I copied the standard component to Z Component, Created dynpro application and executed but it is giving error saying Null Object reference.
Can any body explain the steps for making the standard Webdynpro component as Executable version ?
    Thanks,
    Venkat

Why did you copy the component?  Standard components should already have Applications assigned to them if they are designed to run standalone.  You will have to supply more details on what you are trying to do, what component you are working with, etc - before anyone can really help you.

  • CRM Business Package - Error while working with Iview

    Hi,
I would like to know if any one had a chance to work with CRM Competitor Products Iview. I am using BUSINESS PACKAGE FOR SAP CRM 4.0_60_2_2. There is no problem is displaying the Iview, also I am able to work with the Iview, but when I try to open tabs, I am getting a fatal error. A run time error occurs and the iview doesn't work after that.
    the exact message is :
A run time error occured, Do you wish to Debug ?
    Line 22
    Error : Invalid syntax.
Since this is a standard package I don't know what this error means.
    Help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    -SG

    Hi Suresh,
Similar Problem we faced for other IViews like Products, Accounts BSP Application from the SAME Business Package.
Later we found that the error is not in Business Package, but the Version of IE Browser caused the Problem.
Just for info we need to have the IE 5.5 or Greater (IE 6.0 is Best) After Upgrading the IE Version to 6.0, then we did not face this error.
    Hope its helpful.

  • Load balancing for Business Package iviews

    Hello Gurus,
we have installed SRM Business packages on our Portal system and accessing the SRM which has 2 application servers. How can we make the iviews to access any one of the application server as the link to ITS in iviews is static. What is the easiest and best approach to get them load balanced using Business Package iviews.
    Regards!

    Dear G,
As I see your back-end system has 2 app servers... to cofigure the portal iViews to use both app servers you need to define that in the portal system object that is defined to connect to the backend system... You should look if the system object you use for connecting to srm is of the type: "SAP_R3_LoadBalancing"
    See also: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/1f/bddf3d48b05d5ae10000000a11405a/frameset.htm
In addition because you are talking about ITS you could configure a WebDispatcher in front of your Backend SRM system...
    Good Luck,

    Hi,
    > 1. If i go with same backend ECC 6 Ehp 4 with Portal 7.3, than what are all the BP's that i have to deploy?
BP's depends upon what all functionality you want to use. e.g If you are using ESS/MSS then you need to deploy BP's for ESS/MSS.
    > 2. Can i go with same Business packages   those i am using currently with Portal 7.01?
You should install latest version of BP's on NW 7.3 like for ESS/MSS latest version is 1.51.
    > 3. How to migrate my ESS and MSS apps (customized apps NWDI )from Portal 7.01 to 7.3
You need to migrate all these customization manually as PAR files are not more supported for NW 7.3.
    > 4. in future if we upgarde our backend to EHP 5 than what happens to WD java Application. i come to know that ESS application are totally built on WD ABAP  for EHP5
    >
It depends upon you. If you want to use ESS/MSS for web dynpro ABAP then you need to install BP of ESS for web dynpro ABAP but if you don't want to use web dynpro then you can use same way as you are doing currently.
Check SAP Note 1450179 - ESS Based on Web Dynpro ABAP Available.
    Thanks

  • Business Package for Internal Sales Representative 1.0

I'm trying to install the Business Package for Internal Sales Representative 1.0 to explore the options of using Business Packages in our portal.  I have the SAP Library Link for this BP ( http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/EN/b7/036b4060a1181ce10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm ), and I've looked at the configuration information on the page.
So far I've imported the business package for common parts and the business package for internal sales representative, I assigned the alias "SAP_ECC_SalesService" to our ECC connection (does it need to be the default alias?).  We also have an ITS installed for the connected system.  We don't currently have our BI system connected to this portal, but it said that was optional.  I have also assigned the role from each business package to my user, but when I open the iviews, they give me errors.
I am not sure what I am supposed to do to make the settings for the launchpad.  Also, what other steps do I need to complete?  Do I need to do something in the source system to set up the connection?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Owen

One of the errors gives this long text:
Content pass of Application Integrator failed.
    Component Name:       'com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction',
    Context Name (iView): 'pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/specialist/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.roles/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.salesrep/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.sales_process/overview_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.order_fulfill/order_fulfill_info/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.disp_shipm_page/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.display_shipm',
    Top Layer:            'Transaction/DragAndRelateLayer',
    Producer ID (FPN):    'null',
    System Alias:         'SAP_ECC_SalesService',
    Another one gives me this:

One of the errors is as follows, but it is because BI is not connected to this portal, as the documentation says the connection is optional for this business package:
Content pass of Application Integrator failed.
    Component Name:       'com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.BWReport',
    Context Name (iView): 'pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/specialist/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.roles/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.salesrep/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.sales_process/overview_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.order_fulfill/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.Fulfillment/com.sap.pct.erp.salesrep.OrderFulfillmentAnalyses',

  • CRM business package 60.1.2 vs 60.2.3

    Hi,
We are currrently investigatiing integrating CRM 4.0 functionality into Portal 6.0 SP19 using business packages.
I would like to know what are the main differneces between CRM Business Packages 60.1.2 and 60.2.3?
The link to online documentation via https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/contentportfolio seems to point to the same information for both. (http://help.sap.com/Business_Packages/EN/93/35C73C3D91995BE10000000A114084/frameset.htm)
Which is the correct version to use with SAP Best Practices V2.60, N12?
    Regards
    Sunil

Infact, there is already an OSS message existing. I did
search with wrong 'application component' name.
Inbrief, the solution is that you are not supposed to use
those two iviews with ECC50, since they belong to prior
    release of HR implementation.
    Hope this helps,

  • ECM: Business Package for Compensation Specialist

    Hi,
so the last ECM project I worked on, the portal resource installed the compensation specialist business package.
But now I am having trouble confirming exactly what should be installed.
On sdn, there is a great excel sheet that is recently updated, that has all the expected business packages we need and helpful information on each package (mss, ess, tms, erecruiting, etc)
    Check it out:
    Predefined Portal Content Integration
However, to my surprise nothing was in this list for Comp specialist.
Through various searching - i am really only finding this compensation specialist business package, which looks more like ECC 5.0, but I guess it must also work on 6.0, ep4??
    http://help.sap.com/Business_Packages/EN/7D/28543F65C83B28E10000000A114084/frameset.htm
additionally, all i see in the service marketplace is:
This looks like the install file:
    BPERP4CSP00_0-10003191.sca
BP for Compensation Specialist (mySAP ERP 2004) 60.2
    BP COMPENSATION SPECIAL. 60.2
Last changed by sap service on:
    15.12.2005
Is this really the active version that should still be used for ECC 6.0, EP4 or is it under some other name?
    Thx,
    Mike

HIi Siddharth, thx for confirming, this was my guess.
It also appears that much of the new ECM analytics integrated with BW in EP5 is being moved under the TMS 1.51 (Talent Management Specialist) Application.
If they are moving ECM reports there, I don't understand why you would not just incorporate all the BSP links / folder structures so that  'BP Compensation Specialist 60.2' could be officially retired.

    Hi,
The syntax of the created SDA may be wrong
Check the main attributes defined in SAP_MANIFEST.MF are equal or not to their corresponding componentelement entry.
SAP_MANIFEST.MF file is located in META-INF subfolder in the .sda file.
The values of "keycounter" and "counter" should be the same. Also the values of "keyname" and "name" should be identical.

  • Business package  vs Transport Package

    HI All,
What is the difference between Business package and Transport package?
Is there any relation between these two?
What is ESS and MSS? where do we use this?
Please make me clear on above questions.
    Regards,
    sekhar.

Business Packages are presupplied content for a portal, available from SAP or other vendors. They are uploaded ionto your portal. The upload mechanism depends on the version of the portal and the version of the business package.
Transport packages are what you use to move content between your portals.
ESS and MSS are examples of business packages available from the <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/contentportfolio">here</a>
You use business packages if their content makes sense!
