Berkley DB XML 2.4 on Mac OS 10.5

Hi,
I am evaluating the Berkley DB XML to use in our project. Compiling of the DB XML was successful, but during runtime (instantiating the XmlManager) I got this error message:

Hi George,
I tried to run the example HelloWorld with this VM parameter:
-Djava.library.path=/Users/hvtranho/dbxml-2.4.11/install/lib
I got the same error:

  • ITunes library xml from windows to mac using external drive.

    Hi there!
I'm a newbie on mac computers.. I've recently purchase a macbook pro retina.
So, I used to use iTunes in windows XP. My old computer crashed and I can't re-open it and save files...
Now, the only file I have from my windows library is an "library.xml" file.
The mp3 files that I had in previous iTunes playlists are in my external I: Drive. (not in Itunes folder).
I was searching in apple communities to see how I can transfer playlists in my new iTunes on mac.
But I can't find a solution to my problem... and unfortunately I don't know if there is...
I've try to set the iTunes media folder location my external hard drive, from Preferences-->Advanced-->iTunes media folder location.
Then I go to file-->library--> import playlist and I open the "library.xml".
The result is that I have all my playlists in tact, like it was in my previous iTunes.... But THERE IS NOT ANY FILE ON THEM!!!
So, I have only the playlists... Could you help me to set my I: drive as default path of itunes library, to get my playlists WITH the mp3s?
    PLEASE HELP!
    Thank you in advance.

Should I change the Preferences-->Advanced-->iTunes media folder location back to default folder?
That should be set to wherever you want iTunes to store media in the future (though it sounds like you are planning on keeping this unchecked anyway).  It has no effect on where iTunes looks for existing files.  That is already determined when you first add the file to iTunes or through later consolidating.
In theory you should be able to start iTunes with a blank library, use the import function to add that .xml file and it should still point to the files on the external.  If that is not working then I guess it is possible all those %20 space designations may be causing problems.  It's strange you are seeing those coded that way but  it is likely some carry-over from Windows.  The purpose of adding a test file to the external, then adding it to iTunes, then looking at the .xml is to see how Mac iTunes lists the path for a file on the external added when using the Mac so you can use that as a model for changing other paths if necessary.
Holding down the option key while starting iTunes (make sure you are using the correct key) or immediately after starting it should invoke a screen asking if you want to make a new library.  If this is not working for you then I have no idea why because it works for hundreds of other people I have told to do this.

  • Edit RSS and .xml in iweb on .mac

I am desperately trying to find out how to edit my RSS and (.xml) file in iweb. I can get to the file if I publish my website to a folderr on my MAC, but this doesn't help me. I need to edit this file and let iweb publish it on my .mac podcast site.
The real issue is that in itunes the wrong image is appearing (it is by default using my background image from my podcast website) AND also I am not able to give a "summary" in the podcast description area.
I'm really frustrated that I can not see the .xml file directly in iweb and also that the RSS inspector editor in iweb does not allow you to edit all parts of your .xml file!
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks!!!

I have put together a website that I'm trying to manage daily. I'm creating in in iweb, then saving it to a folder and uploading using FTP (Fetch). So the problem I'm running into is that my server seems to be choking on the following like of XML code every time. For me this is a bummer because I'm not a code person and so it means relying on others to scrub the code out each time. How can I use iweb and avoid this problem.

  • XML Editing Tool For Mac

    Hi there.
I just had a promotion at work and have started looking into XML coding with the view to edit the code and eventually create my own XML document from scratch.
While at work it is very easy to as we have all the programs we need and a nice big screen to allow us to carry out our job but when at home is not so easy when I'm trying to look at it using a 15" laptop.
I have a 27" iMac and would love to be able to continue my work when at home using my iMac.
The problem i have is i can not find any programs for iMas via the the web or the App store that allow me to edit and create XML documents.
Is there any one out there who can suggest what i could do or it there is software out there that will allow me to do what i need. I have tried Notepad ++ but i can not find a Apple version.
    Cheers

  • Reading XML from a plugin (Mac OSX 10.4.10)

    Hi gurus,
Basically, I want to read an XML file from within a plugin, without using the AIXMLxxxSuites. Sound simple? Answers on a postcard please, because I haven't managed it yet, and I'm running out of hair!
I've tried using libxml2, which works great... until you quit Illustrator, then it crashes and I can't stop it from doing so. I can only assume that something's being released when my plugin is unloaded which Illustrator's not expecting, causing a crash on exit, but I'm just guessing.
I've also tried eXpat, which was a complete nightmare to install but I got it working eventually. Only problem is that when you compile it with fink (or some other package manager) it compiles for your specific architecture, i386 in my case. This doesn't end well when you have over 500 mixed PPC/i386 Macs to target.
So anyone else got any ideas? I'm quite new to Mac development coming from a Windows dev background (where'd MSXML go?!) so please be gentle :)
    Thanks in advance!
    --W

I see no reason why you couldn't get libxml, eXpat or Xerces working, however with the provided information I see no way to offer advice.
I suspect it will take a debugger and a good look at your code to understand your situation, so I just offered a (simple) suggestion. I will add that you do get something by developing a home brewed solution, namely no limitations, cross platform capability, and complete understanding (hopefully).
I run a software company based on opensource software, so I routinely build and use the packages you mentioned (without Fink). I am afraid however, that providing assistance here is beyond the scope of this forum.

Many people have done this in the iWeb forum. Do a search on sitemap and you'll probably find an answer there:

  • Ror.xml files: Will they be found on .mac?

Has anyone added an ror.xml file to their iDisk/Web/Sites folder? I'm curious if these are being found or if search engines can only find the ror file for ALL of .mac and not our individual sites.
    Kevin

    Kevin
when trying to change my xml file from the one iWeb had published to one I had manually updated, I found that the iDisk rss.xml files were not updating the iWeb site I had published. My other files update on iDisk fine, but not the xml files.
After talking to tech support and playing with them a lot. I came to the conclusion that Apple doesn't want us to have manual control over the xml files published on .Mac, and that the files on our iDisk are NOT available for web crawlers to find and report to search engines.
If web crawlers have access to .Mac they can find your site, but you can manually submit your site to google using this link if you like.

  • How do I move my library from Mac to Windows?

I moved my iTunes library to a Windows XP machine and put the library where it's supposed to be. Then I exported the library xml file on my Mac and imported it in Windows. When I open iTunes the library is empty. I tried importing the files into iTunes but iTunes crashes half way through.

First of Justinc4 is an idiot, don't listen to him.
You should be able to move your iTunes Music directory and the two library files to the proper location on the new computer (reguardless if it is Windows or Mac) and when you launch iTunes it should show up.
the other option is to simply open iTunes on the new computer and drag the music folder from the old computer to the Library in iTunes.
It is try that an iPod will have to be reformated, but that is because windows uses a FAT32 format and Mac uses a different drive format.

  • PC to Mac: iTunes Library Running on External Hard Drive

Good afternoon all. I just purchased a MacBook 13-inch Aluminum (Late 2008) and am having some trouble with my iTunes library.
On my PC Laptop, I am all set up to run iTunes from an external hard drive, with the library files saved on the external drive as well.
I have searched the internet extensively, but have not found any successful way of loading iTunes on my new Mac while maintaining the date added and play counts.
Apple offers a support document on moving the iTunes library from one computer to another (which is how I moved my iTunes folder off to the external drive), but this doesn't seem to work from PC to Mac.
Do any of you have experience moving your iTunes Library from a PC to a Mac while maintaining your date added and play count data?
Any help that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Ok, so for those of you that are interested, I figured it out.
I first started iTunes on the new mac and got everything set up, with the library and .xml files in the ~/Music/iTunes folder.
I then opened iTunes and went into preferences, moving the location of the iTunes music folder to the correct location on the external drive (at this point iTunes is pointing in the right direction, but has nothing in the library.)
Next, I deleted the library and .xml file from the mac, and copied over the PC itunes library and .xml files, removing the .itl extension from the PC library file.
Using the mac text editor, I opened the PC .xml file, and replaced all references to the external drive in PC speak (drive letter format) with mac speak (volume format.)
Now, when I opened iTunes it began updating the library and when it finished, all of my music was there with the correct play counts and dates added. Of interesting note, while it clearly used the PC library and .xml files in some facet, it created new mac files in the same location, moving the PC library file to 'Previous iTunes Libraries', and renaming the .xml file.
Finally, I closed iTunes and used finder to move the new mac library and .xml files off to the external drive, dropping the original PC files into a PC folder, should they ever be needed again. I opened iTunes holding option and pointed it to the new library file on the external drive.
Now everything is up and running from the external drive on the mac, just as it did on the PC. It was a bit of a headache to keep all of the information intact, but for me it was worth it. (If you don't care about your dates added and play counts, you could of course simply add the iTunes folder from your external drive to the new mac's iTunes and avoid all of the 'fun', but I've got years of data, and like to know when I added what, and how often I actually listen to it :))
    Thanks.

  • Itunes playlists no show; 1st external hard drive second mac

very well gentlemen and ladies my cri de coeur concerns accessing my playlists on my new 2nd (and second-hand) mac. All my music is on a hd that mounts on mac2 and plays when click on hd song - BUT old playlists dont show on new mac itunes screen and songs dont appear on new itunes screen until clicked on hd. have consolidated libraries. have dragd to trash (but not yet cleared) old itunes music folder. should i trash (mac2 previous) xml file? should i copy old xml file from old mac which DOES show all the playlists etc - even though it cant paly them as they are on the hd - which is connected to the new mac! shall i go doh! itunes 6.0.4 on imac 800 (mac1), 200g music on lacie external hard drive, itunes 7.1.1 on powermac (mac2)

I thank u all for your input espec mark but also all the various posts in discussions generally. i am pleased to say i astounded myself by working it out (but no hubris here).the answer was to LEAVE the old 'iTunes Library' folder and the old xml file in the 'iTunes' folder on mac2 and then to copy to (subsequently) replace them with the original similar files from mac1 et voila everything - songs, tiles, dates, playlists etc all show up in new iTunes screen. how pleasant when ones aimiable bumblings work!

  • Acrobat 9.1  Mac How do you change from Radio buttons to Check boxes?

I have a DMV Form I Downloaded and had to convert to PS then back to PDF (written originally on PC Acrobat was in XML format).
So on new form, I am able to add fields. I used the the Forms manager to automatically create the fields. Fields that were made Radio Buttons should have been Check boxes. How do change the Radio buttons to check boxes. There are a lot of them and I don't wish to have to re-key them in.
    Suggestions?

Well when I click on the box it shows a Check mark in the box. That exactly what I need because in the instructions it requires a Check mark in each of the check boxes. Normally the Med form is sent as a paper copy from DMV every two years.
Also another Tip. A PDF that has XML Content. (PC Acrobat Version).
If you want a usable PDF on Mac and get rid of the XML do the following:
Open the XML Based PDF on Mac Acrobat 9.X .
Now choose export and save as Postscript File (.ps).
Now locate and drop on Distiller 9.X.
When PDF created will be a Pristine exact replica of the XML file except Mac Acrobat can edit and create forms with it.

  • Queries on Mac OS X support for Java 1.3

    Hi All
I am having some trouble figuring out how to make Swing based Applets
work on Mac OS X. Can anybody help me ?
Queries on Mac OS X support for Java 1.3
    1) Will a Java Applet compiled using Java 1.3 run on "Mac OS X" without the need for a Plugin.? This includes Applets using Swing since we compiled using 1.3.
    2) I tried to run some Java 1.3 applets compiled using 1.3.1-04.
    Unfortunately, the Applets wouldn't run.
Is there some setting in Mac OS X that i need to change or modify for the Applet to work ?
    3) When i open a Terminal in Mac OS X and type Java -version, i get
    "------ Java 1.3---------".
This implies that Mac OS X supports the Java 1.3 SDK. Does it imply that it supports the runtime as well since this is usually the case ?.
If it supports the runtime, then does this inculde support for Swing.
Finally, as i enquired in '(1)' does this mean that i do not need any plugin(MRJ) to make Swing based applets work.
    Thanks and regards
    Prashanth

  • Indesign, XML export and NITF

As producer of a weekly newspaper, I need advice as to generate xml from Indesign CC (Mac) to NITF standards, as preferred by my digital distributor. That includes dividing an article - that may be formatted in just one text frame - into two equal elements: One for headline, byline etc., and one for the body of text. Is there any way of doing this without altering the original layout, intended for printing? I would rather not having to break the one frame up into two just for this purpose – for every article in the paper. Simply put: can one frame, in a whizz, be two elements, both head and body? There are no shortage of helpful advice around on xml, nor on the NITF standard for news dressing, but I have not yet found one that deals with both. Thanks in advance.

Your suggestion seem to work for me. I created two tags (head and body) that I applied just to other groups of tagged text. It gave me this structure, that might just be what my doctor ordered. Now I am ready to move on to next question: How to get 3 text frames squeezed into this same structure... Thank you so much, Mike!

    Tools: Flash CS5.5 & Acrobat X Pro
The Juke Box will read the User's iTunes Library.xml file
(once JavaScript affirms it is present, i.e. User uses iTunes).
Of many steps, I am researching a JavaScript to locate (gain access) to
said iTunes Library.xml files (both PC / MAC).
In this file-search objective the four (4) locations are known; iTunes Library.xml (see below).
Thanks in advance for your help...
    This is Step 1... the current goal;
How to construct a full script to address all known locations (4).
    1) enable search when PDF page is entered

  • Does Java 7 run on only x64 bit MAC OS X?

I want to deliver self-contained application packages on Windows, Linux and Mac so I have build my JavaFX application on all three platforms. I will allow my users to download these native bundles from my application's download web page but I have a confusion regarding MAC users because For Linux and Windows, JDK/JRE 7 comes in two download options
    1. for x86
    2. for x64.
but for MAC we have only option for x64.
Java Download Page shows Java/Jre is not available for 32 bit MAC OSX to run JavaFX application. Does it mean JavaFX will run on only x64 bit MAC OSX?
If it is so, then my issue has been solved, as I have already bundled my Javafx application as a "Self-Contained Application Packages" after run custom build.xml script on x64 MAC OSX but if it is not so, the user can also run JavaFX application on x86 MAC OSX but in that case my "Self-Contained Application Packages" for mac would not run on x86 MAC OSX.
So I am planning to give an additional zip file that either contains app (without copy of jre) or a plain self executable jar. But I'm bit worried regrading - what exactly I need to bundle into that zip file with self executable JAR so requirements must be met to be able to run my JavaFX application in following conditions?
    conditions are : -
    1. If user has x86 MAC OSX.
    2. If java is already installed on user's system. And he would not like to download the "Self-Contained Application Packages" from our download page.
    3. Big download size.
So what among the following two options suits if user have x86 MAC OSX or if he has already installed java on his system or he would not like to download "Self-Contained Application Packages" from download page due to big download size?
    Option are -
    1. APP ( without inbuilt copy of JRE)
    2. Or only a self executable jar.
I am not sure that Mac OS X 10.7.3 (Lion) or later version can run on x86 system. So in case of #1 option the user may have trouble if he is using x86 system. Then he may need to change info plist file and replace the JavaAplicationStub.
In case of #2 option I think is better as the user need to download the JRE only and the JAR should run using "java -jar" command.
Please suggest which option is better in case if JavaFX application can run on x86 bit MAC OS X?

JavaFX will run on only x64 bit MAC OSX?Yes. There is no 32 bit JavaFX 2.x+ build for OS X.
