Best type for financial counting

What is the best type of number if I'd like to count prices with tax and without???

But fixed point arithmetic is isomorphic to integer arithmetic.
isomorphic
<mathematics> Two mathematical objects are isomorphic if they
have the same structure, i.e. if there is an isomorphism
between them. For every component of one there is a
corresponding component of the other.
isomorphism
n.
2. Mathematics. A one-to-one correspondence between the elements of two sets such that the result of an operation on elements of one set corresponds to the result of the analogous operation on their images in the other set.
Fixed point? There is no fixed point. One would have to create such a class, and I would imagine it would be done using integers -- probably longs actually. Is that what you're trying to convey that any fixed point handling would be done using integers?

Almost every review I've read says that Quicken Mac is basically the black sheep step-child to Quicken for Windows, and that it pales in comparison.
Is Quicken Mac the more-or-less industry standard on OS X? What are other folks using? I've used Quicken for Windows in the past, as well as Microsoft Money, but am open to changing if Quicken Mac is as far behind the times as I hear it is.

It's not "fully" compatible and there were a couple of minor issues, easily discovered and fixed. There is also some data which cannot be converted. The process is an export (from Windows) and import (to MAC) using QIF files. The instructions also list what can and cannot be converted. Here's a link to the instructions and the list:
    http://quicken.intuit.com/personal-finance/mac-personal-finance.jhtml#
Look on the right side and you will see the link to the PDF file.
To answer your questions (as I have encountered them so far):
    1) Didn't look at that since I've always used Quicken
    2) I use the Web Connect option via BofA and the data downloads directly, without a problem. No need to use QIF, CSV downloads.
    3) I converted both old and current bank accounts along with two active 401k accounts and a brokerage account.
    4) Haven't checked
    5) I use my bank's web site and web connect to download the data, haven't checked anything beyond that with the exception of my brokerage account. Like Windows, it is able to directly access (One Step Update) my brokerage data (TD Ameritrade). I don't; however, use the One Step Update with my bank. I believe that's an extra charge from my bank so I just download from their website directly into Quicken.
    6) I haven't noticed any real differences between the two here, but my reports are rather limited.
    7) Don't know about the Symbian-based OS option, but there is a dashboard Widget for quickly entering items into Quicken, without launching Quicken. I haven't used it yet though.
    8) I track both 401k and my personal brokerage accounts. I don't do a lot of research/trending on them (mostly getting out of the playing the market myself and putting the money into my 401k to let the "pros" deal with it <G>), but I can track everything I was tracking in Windows.

    Hello,

The .cop files are like the .exe files in Windows. Therefore you shouldn't need the .cop file in this case. You should just be able to copy the .bin file to the server in the tftp folder and make the change under the device defaults and restart the tftp service.

  • Best Material Type for Handling Non-valuated Materials in Distribution

Our distribution business will soon be handling non-valuated material and I am trying to determine the best material type to use.  I am considering material type UNBW but would like to know if anyone has advice.  We are strictly providing a service to the vendor for handling these non-valuated materials (for example, wood products).  We will not purchase or sell the product.  Our service consists of receiving the product into inventory from the vendor, tracking the inventory, (in Warehouse Management) and then shipping the material to a customer of the vendor's choosing.  For these non-valuating materials, we are paid strictly for our service of warehousing the material and shipping to a customer.
Up until now, our distribution business has distributed only valuated materials, i.e., materials we purchase at a price and sell at a price.  We also use vendor consignment.  NOTE: This is not a vendor consignment scenario because we never buy the product.
    Here are our requirements:
    - We don't own the non-valuated product.
    - We need to be able to ship these new non-valuated products on the same shipments as the valuated product we own.
    - We use handling unit and warehouse management for all of our finished goods.
    - We would like to use our existing processes and HU/WM RF transactions to receive and pick the non-valuated product.  This means:
    1) Creating inbound deliveries and packing into HUs.  And applying our HU bar code labels.
    2) Physical inventory counts by HU.
    3) Creating sales orders that have both the non-valuated materials and valuated materials we own.
    4) Creating outbound deliveries and picking via transfer orders in WM.
    5) Assigning the outbound deliveries to a shipment.
    Questions:
    1)  Can a UNBW material that will be stocked but not valuated be received into inventory via a PO?  Any way to receive into inventory with an inbound delivery without using a PO?
    2)  Are there any problems with putting a non-valuated material on a sales order with a zero price?
    3)  Any challenges that other have run into?
    Thanks in advance.
    Rob

I must be missing something regarding the use of material type UNBW.  When I post the goods receipt for a PO with a UNBW material, no inventory is created.  When I create the PO, an account assignment is required.  I tried both a cost center account assignment (K) and balance sheet account assignment (Z - using a Profit Center).  In both cases, I am forced to check the "Free item" checkbox to avoid entering a price; which also seems strange since the material is UNBW.
I have searched everywhere for a "Best Practice" for my scenario with little results.  Again, we are simply managing the inventory for a vendor and shipping the inventory to our vendor's customers.  So we are acting as a third pary warehouse and shipper for the vendor.  We do not buy or sell the inventory - we are paid a monthly service fee by the vendor for warehousing their product and shipping it to their customers.  We may ship the product on sales order deliiveries that include both the "non-valuated" product (i.e., free goods we manage for this vendor) and goods that we actually own.
As an alternative, I am wondering if I should look into somehow using vendor consignment with a settlement price (consignment info record price) of zero.  Vendor consignment is nice because you can track the stock by vendor.  However, we would never truly "settle" with the vendor because we would not be paying the vendor for the inventory and would never own it.
Our business refers to this as "reload business" but I am not sure this is an industry standard term.
    Any other thoughts out there?

  • Different movement types for store Physical Count process

    Hi Experts
Would like to ask for your advice in terms of using different movement types for physical inventory process.
    The scenario is like this:
    1) Our client uses different counting processes for store inventory, with both annual full stock take AND spontaneous ad-hoc counting which is more frequent and involve probably around 30 articles a week.
    2) Both types of counting involve count result interface from a 3rd party POS system
    3) Since it is count result interface, we are considering the standard PI process (MI01, MI04, MI07, MI31, MI20, etcetc)
    4) However the standard movement type is 701/702 while our client request a different financial posting, hence different movement types, for the ad-hoc counting
So the question is very simple: Is there a way for SAP to determine using 701/702 when it is a full stock take, while using another set of Z-movement types when it is a ad-hoc count. Bare in mind that both information are the count result, not a variance adjustment, from external POS system.
Appreciate very much for your help!

  • What is the best type of xml storage for max performance in 9i r2

We have many schema based xml's of 1MB in xdb (9.2.0.5)
and our database is getting slower by every new xml
    delete_resource (300 sec) and create_resource (300 sec ) take a long time
and if I ftp a schema based xml out the xdb takes a long time ( 200 sec )
Our system works like this , the xml comes in (ftp) ,the xdb validates the xml and then the xml is archived and the
last step, the xml data is extracted and put in normal tables
no xml updates or xml constraints
I have now defined in the schema, one main table and I use oracle types for complextypes and xdb:defaulttable =""
in 10g I don't have problems, but our production system
are 9.2.0.5 and it takes a lot work and downtime to change that
This goes well in 9i by files smaller then 500k
what is the best schema configuration for max performance ( create / delete resource and ftp out )
    thanx edwin

    I changed
    maxOccurs="unbounded" xdb:SQLName="TRANSACTIONRANGE" xdb:SQLCollType="TPF_MASTER_D_T_RANGE_COLL_01"
    into
    maxOccurs="unbounded" xdb:SQLName="TRANSACTIONRANGE" xdb:SQLInline="false" xdb:defaultTable="TPF_MASTER_D_T_RANGE_TAB"
this gives me very good performance

  • What's the best type of anti-virus or spyware to use for cleaning up my MacBook Pro? I recently switched to a mac from pc, so don't know much about my computer yet.

I recently switched to a macbook pro from a pc, and am curious what type of (if any) virus protection or spyware protection to use for it.  I keep getting a message to Install MacKeeper 2012; but am not sure if it's worth paying for or not.  I'd like some advice on what would be the best protection for my computer.  Also, I recently had the new microsoft office installed; which has been having issues freezing up quite often when I use it.  I don't know if clenaing my mac would help with the Microsoft office stuff, or not (or even if that would be related)...also each time I restart my computer; all windows applications open (word, power point, excel & outlook).   obviously I'm not very tech savvy to begin with so any advice would help!  I'm hoping this computer will last me thru the next 4 years of grad school & just want to make sure this computer is well taken care of to last that long.  Thanks!

  • SAP Best Practice for Document Type./Item category/Acc assignment cat.

What is the Best Practice for the document Type & Item category
    I want to use NB -  Item category  - B & K ( Blanket PO) , D ( Service)  and T( Text) .
Is sap recommends to use FO Only for the Blanket Purchase Order.
We want to use service contract (with / without service entry sheet) for all our services.
We want to buy asset for our office equipments .
Which is the best one to use NB or FO ?
Please give me any OSS notes or reference for this
    Thanks
    Nick

Thank you very much for your response.
I hope I can provide some clarity on how the accounting needs to be handle per FERC  Regulations.  The G/L balance on the utility that is selling the assets will be in the following accounts (standard accounts across all FERC Regulated Utilities):
101 - Acquisition Value for the assets
108 - Accumulated Depreciation Value for the assets
For an example, there is Debit $60,000,000 in FERC Account 101 and a credit $30,000,000 in FERC Account 108.  When the purchase occurs, the net book value for the asset will be on our G/L in FERC Account 102.  Once we have FERC Approval to acquire the plant assets, we will need to enter the Acquisition Value and associated Accumulated Depreciation onto our G/L to FERC Account 101 and FERC Account 108 respectively with an offset to FERC Account 102.
The method that I came up with is to purchase the NBV of the assets to a clearing account.  I then set up account assignments that will track the Acquisition Value and respective Accumulated Depreciation for each asset that is being purchased.  I load the respective asset values using t-code AS91 and then make an entry to the 2 respective accounts with the offset against the clearing account using t-code OASV.  Once my company receives FERC approval, I will transfer the asset to new assets that has the account assignments for FERC Account 101 and FERC Account 108 using t-code ABUMN or FB01.

  • Best practice for retail store cycle count

    Hi experts
Would you have any experience/best practice in designing for cycle count process for your clients?
By cycle count, I mean for frequent counting (daily) for specific item category / exceptional count request.
My client want to implement a cycle count process to minimize the effort for full stock take which happen around 3 times per year.
They are using SAP as the core system to keep track of inventory, and using external store system, so some considerations would be on, for example:
    - whether the count variance or counted quantity shall be interfaced back to SAP
    - whether SAP should be the source to initiate a stock count process or POS initiate
It would be very nice if you can share some best practice as in the process flow, system information flow, etc.
    Best regards
    Dominic

    Hello
Both can be done but as you say SAP is the core system at least for tracking inventories, better create and integrate inventories is SAP aswell.
The main advice I would give is to avoid specific tables for inventory integration because standard tables and specific won't be updated well sometimes and support would be needed, stick on standard transactions.
If the inventory is centralised in SAP, you can for example count them with PDA, send to SAP connectors your counting which will be integrated from a xml file transformed in a Idoc for SAP.
One parameter is important to consider as the freeze for inventory. You have to decide if you take into account any stock movement that could occur after your inventory creation or not. If you do, the variance after the counting will depend on the initial stock value and also the movement.
If you don't, the variance will only take into account your initial stock value withotu considering the stock movement.
    Hope it helps you,
    Génia.

  • Best practice for phone number column data type

    Hi,
I hope I have posted this in the right forum, if not just notify me and i will remove it to the correct area.
What would be considered best practice for storing a phone number.
    Number of Varchar2.
    Ben

Well I was thinking that Number would have the following disadvantages,
    1. Users entering phone numbers into a form may be tempted to pre format with spaces, thereby throwing up an error.
    2. Mobile phone numbers may have leading zeros
    3. Calculations are not carried out on phone numbers.
    I was leaning towards a varchar2 type.

  • Best Practice - Order Types for Consumers

I was curious what the best practice is for entering orders within the CRM Interaction Center.   Do you have a separate order type within the CRM system and pass it to the SAP system for "Consumer" orders and then have a different order type that is defined in the ECC system for distributor/wholesale orders?
We are trying to determine if it is best practice to have a separate order type for consumer orders or not.
Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Darcie

    Hello Darcie,
I received the following guidance from one of our CRM consulting practice managers at SAP:
"My recommendation to customers is that they separate out the number ranges and order types.  Especially if they are being created via different sales channels.  The reason is two-fold:
    1. Gives greater visibility to what is created in one channel vs another channel (easy to report by order/document type and visually, someone would see an order that starts with 7 and know that itu2019s for consumers whereas one that starts with a 4 would be for wholesale accounts).
    2. Even if the order/document types behave the exact same way today, they may want the flexibility to be able to change how a consumer order behaves without affecting the wholesale orders.  They could always add the new order type later, of course, but itu2019s easier to set that structure in place now."
    Regards,
    John

  • Best Practises for using Content Types

We had third party vendor who migrated and re structured contents and sites in Sharepoint 2010. I noticed one unusual thing : In most cases they new separate site content types for every library in a site i.e. even if two libraries contain same set of metadata
columns they created separate site content types by duplicating it from the first one and gave it unique name and used in second library.
My point of view for content type is that they are used for re usability, i.e. if another library is needing same set of metadata columns then I would just reuse existing content type rather than creating another content type with different name by inheriting
it from the first one and having same set of columns.
When I asked vendor reason for this approach (for every library they created new content types and for libraries needing same set of meta data columns they just inherited from a custom site content type and created another duplicate one with same set of
meta data columns and gave it different name in most cases name of library ) they said they did that to classify documents which I did not agree with because by creating two document libraries classification is already done.
I need some expert advice on this, I will really appreciate: I understand content types are useful and they provide re usability but,
     A) Do we need to create new site content types whenever we create new library ? (Even though we are not going to re use them)
    B) What is best practice : if few libraries are needing same set of metadata columns
    1) Create site a content type and reuse it in those libraries ? or
    2) Create a site content type and create new content types by inheriting from site content type created at first and just give them different name even though all of them are having same set of columns  ?
I need expert advice on this but following is my own opinion on this
I do not think point A) is a good practice and should not be used, we should create site content type only when we think it will be re used and we do not need to create site content type every time we create document library. Also I do not think point 2)
of B is a good practice as well
    Dhaval Raval

It depends on the nature of the content types and the libraries. If the document types really are shared between document libraries then use the same ones. If the content types are distinct and non overlapping items that have different processes, rules or
uses then breaking them out into a separate content type is the way forward.
As an example for sharing content types: Teams A and B have different document libraries. Both fill in purchase orders, although they work on different projects. In this case they use the same form and sharing a content type is the no question approach.
As an example for different content types: A company has two arms, a consultancy where they send people out to client sites and a manufacturing team who build hardware. Both need to fill in timesheets but whilst the metadata fields on both are the same the
forms are different and/or are processed in a different manner.
You can make a case either way, i prefer to keep the content types simple and only expand out when there's a proven need and a user base with experience with them. It means that if you wanted to subdivide later you'd have more of a headache but that's a
risk I generally think works out.

  • What's the best app for a reader type program on the mac air

looking to use my mac air to read ebooks - any suggestions to the best type application for that
    Thanks

That would depend on the source of the ebooks you're trying to read. If the ebooks have any kind of DRM, you would need to use the appropriate app (e.g. the Kindle app for ebooks purchased from Amazon). I actually like the Kindle app generally.

  • Selecting the best Price for a condition type but only for some customers

    Hi All,
I have this situation where we have condition type ZPPR (COPY OF PR00) with 5-6 Condtion tables.
in Access sequence for ZPPR, we have Exclusion Indicator set for all the conditiona tables so if first price is found, it doesn't search for others.
Now I have a requirement that we should search for all the condition records and choose the lowest price. But this should happen for only a certain type of customers and not for everybody.
    Spefically we have:
    1. Contract Price
    2. Plant/Material price
Normally, if contract price is found, it doesn't look for Plant/Mat price but we want to offer our customers(some of them) an option where they could choose the lower of the two price. We set both the prices every day based on some inputs.
    Regards,
    Luke
Edited by: Lukesh Singla on Dec 21, 2011 8:49 PM

    Hi Luke,
We have multiple option for this implementation:
Option 1: If possible based on access sequence. Not sure if this is suitable considering you mentioned that ZPPR has 5-6 access sequence.
    1) Store Contract price in condition type ZPPR and store  Plant / Material Price in new condition type say, ZPPX.
    2) Have separate pricing procedure and determine them based on customer type. In first pricing process XXXX01, configure Condition exclusion with the setting that ZPPX should be deactivated if ZPPR is present, condition exclusion procedure D (exclusive) . In second pricing procedure XXXX02, configure condition exclusion with the setting that compare ZPPX and ZPPR and activate best condition type for the customer by using condition exclusion procedure C (Best condition between two exclusion groups ).
    Option 2:
    1) Copy  ZPPR and its access sequence to a new condition type and access sequence say ZPPX without checking exclusion indicator in the access sequence. In the condition type control for condition type ZPPX >> Master data section >> Reference Condition type = ZPPR so that master data records  need not be duplicated.
2a) Assign the current procedure to the set of customers which should get the first price. Create a new procedure with condition type ZPPX instead of ZPPR keeping other parameters similar and assign the new procedure to other set of customers who should get the best price.
    OR
2b) if 2a is difficult in terms of future  maintenance, add condition type ZPPX in the same procedure and create 2 new pricing requirement validating the customer segments and assign them to respective condition type in procedure ZPPR and ZPPX.
    3) Maintain condition exclusion for condition type ZPPX with B ( Best condition within Condition type).
Hopefully it helps. Let me know if you need any other help in implementation of the solution.
    Regards,
    Naveen Aggarwal
