Best way to plan prices, head-count etc...

Hi all,
I've been spending quite some time thinking about an appropiate way to implement the following requirement:
Planning quantities and also prices through different dimensions.
Standard behavior in BPS is that everything gets summed up. Let's say I plan my regional sales volumes (quantities, prices, amounts) and then switch to the national planning level. My regional prices would then SUM UP to an astronomically high national price (and not average or max etc.). BPS simply ignores the aggregation behavior flag of the InfoObject. So what to do?
Is there a best practice to plan with prices in BPS?
Many thanks in advance!
Simon

Hi Aneesh,
thanks for your answer. Your latter suggestion doesn't apply to us, because they want to plan different prices on regional and national level... monthly and yearly level and so on.
Your first hint is exactly what we're doing, but I think it will get us into a lot of trouble in the long run. We use for example a flag-characteristic for "monthly level", with which we try to seperate the monthly prices from the yearly prices. Whenever someone enters a price or a quantity, a whole set of function sequences fires and recalculates averages etc on different levels.
I just thought that there must be a standard solution for this.

  • Best way to store price

    Hi,
Does anyone know what is the best way to store prices in MySQL, and then how to format it on the output page.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Jose,
    that depends on your prices:
    a) if they will always be integer
(e.g. 120000 EUR), store them in an INT(x) column
(where x is the max. amount of digits), and use PHP´s "number_format" function to display them as e.g. (will show as 120.000) EUR
    b) if your prices will contain a decimal point
(e.g. 12.99), the column could be defined as e.g. FLOAT(x,2)
(where x is the max. amount of digits preceeding the decimal point, and 2 define a fixed amount of digits after the decimal point). In order to display those prices differently on a page, PHP´s "number_format" function has a variety of options, e.g. (will show as 12,99) EUR

  • Best way to move apps, data, mail, etc. to new imac?

I am wondering what the best way is to move stuff from my g4 pb to new imac. Both are osx 10.4.4. I have an external fw drive with a clone of my pb drive on one partition. I don't want to copy everything to the new mac. I have a .mac acct.
    Here are my questions:
Can I move my mail, contacts, ical, and transmit (ftp) settings just by syncing with .mac? All of those are backed up daily to idisk. If i sync to the new mac, will all mail messages be copied?
What about apps? Is it best to just drag them over from the pb or fw drive, or to re-install from disks and/or install/dmg files when possible?
Firefox... I have a bunch of extensions installed and config is highly customized. If I just drag it over to new imac, will config and extensions still work?
Any idea of the easiest way to keep files synced between 2 macs? All files are in my user folder.
I use SuperDuper for backup from pb to fw drive, but I am hoping for a more direct/automatic way for the file sync. Size and number of files are too large for .mac. Has anyone tried SuperDuper on new mac yet?
One more question... user accounts. I have 3. One main (admin), one guest, and one emergency admin. There is nothing to transfer from any acct. besides main. Is it better to transfer the accts over from pb, or to set up identical accts on the new mac?
    Thanks!

Perhaps the easiest way to transfer information from one machine to the other is using Migration Assistant found in your application/utilities menu. Have a look at . You'll need a firewire cable to connect the two machines.
Since you are migrating applications etc. to a new System architecture, I suggest being cautious about what applications you transfer. Some apps. (non-Universal) may not be Rosetta compatible. Have a look at the current compatibility list from Apple for Universal Apps. Also, here's about Rosetta.
Rather than syncing the .Mac account to your new system, it may be safer to simply move this information via MA. Not sure about how the syncing works between the 2 machines going forward. Someone else will have to answer that question.
"I use SuperDuper for backup from pb to fw drive, but I am hoping for a more direct/automatic way for the file sync. Size and number of files are too large for .mac. Has anyone tried SuperDuper on new mac yet?"
Not ready for prime time yet. Have a look at this thread on SuperDuper's forums.
User accounts can be set up on your new machine via System Preferences>Accounts. No sense transfering them if you have no personal information in the User account.
Firefox is not yet Universal, although I understand it's coming soon. I guess the current version runs OK in Rosetta. The transfer of extensions etc. ought to be handled easily via Migration Assistant.
Lastly, make sure your G4 is fully backed up via SuperDuper (bootable clone) before starting Migration Assistant.

  • Best way to log price information ?

    hi,
does anybody has experience in logging price information. Each time the price of an item is updated (item master data, or pricelist -->overview) i want to log this information and store it in a user defined table (user, date, item, pricelist, price).
What is the best way to do this?
1.Addon : each addon might be a handicap (performance, ...).
    2. SBO Transaction Notification : lots of partners did some codings in this stored procedure and causes lots of problems
    3. B1i: seems to be the best way
how would you implement such functionality
    best regards

    Hi Mark,
    i would go for 1. or 2.
but 2. can be very problematic cause when you update the Item you can't really track if
    the price changed.
so 1. ist the easiest (official) way for me - but only because i've never tried B1i ...

  • Panasonic HMC150-Best Way To Get Footage Into FCS2, etc.

    I've just ordered a new Panasonic AG-HMC150, to replace a Sony V1U.
A couple of questions while I'm waiting for it to get here: First, for anyone using this camera with FCS2, what's the best way to import footage? Should I connect the camera with the SDHC card mounted to the Mac via USB, and then use Log and Transfer? Or, is it better to use a separate SDHC card reader? Also, is it better to copy the files off of the card to an external HD first, and then use Log and Transfer?
Finally, in another forum I read that shooting in 720p (30 or 60?) yields better looking SD DVDs after using Compressor than 1080i; does anyone have any experience with this?
My current workflow is to shoot in 1080i with my V1U, capture to Pro Res, edit, and export with Compressor. For a 1 hour SD DVD, around 12-15 hours in Compressor (using the frame controls)
    would be required.
I'm not concerned about any speed increases; my goal is just to have the best looking letterboxed SD DVDs I can get. Thanks in advance for any advice anyone might have. And to Shane, David S., and others: thanks for helping me choose a new camera--it seems to be highly recommended everywhere.

    1. My practice is to copy the intact SDHC card to my media drive, and L/T from there. I copy is by write protecting the SDHC card first, and then mounting it with a SDHC compatible card reader.
    2. 720 is the sweet spot for this cam. I shot 720/60 and usually encoded from there.
    Hope this helps.
Note: Always format the card in the cam first. ALWAYS

  • What is the best way to restore my itunes library, etc.?

My imac started to meltdown last week to the point I couldn't get it to boot. After many tries, I finally was able to access my HD using diskwarrior. Even target mode wouldn't work!
The good news is that I was able to copy my libraries, etc onto my external drive and I have all my music, podcasts, etc.
Bad news is that I had to completely scrub my imac and do a complete reinstall. Now that I have a fresh install of itunes, how can I get it back to the way it was before the meltdown?
When I attache my iphone, itunes wants to wipe out the iphone and sync with the info in itunes, which there is none! The data and setup on the iphone is current and itunes is not. So, in line with my rebuild of itunes, can I trick this new install of itunes into thinking it is my old itunes?

I have a request to create an extract and they need the header row to be written twice at the top of the file.
I thought maybe a for each loop with a script that reset the increment variable one time before looping through the rest of the dataset, I am curious to hear what other options there are.

  • Best ways to get rid of dust/greasy spots from front element

Hello guys! Could you please share your experience with taking care of the front element of your L lenses? What's the best way to remove dust sports, fingerprints etc. without scratching the front element or damaging any kind of the coating?
So far, I've found people recommending Lenspen and soft microfiber for regular glasses. What'd you recommend?
Thanks in advance and happy holidays to all of you!
    Karren

    Hi Karen,
Get yourself a bulb blower, some quality lens cleaning fluid, microfiber cloths and a Lens Pen.
First thing to do is get as much dust off as possible with the bulb blower. It also might help to use a very soft, anti-static brush (note: if there are oils on the lens, the brush will become contaminated and will need to be cleaned or it will just spread the oils around).  Alternatively, a low-powered vacuum might be useful, too, just be careful to avoid too strong or too direct suction. I often just have the vacuum running nearby, to draw away fine particles as they are dislodged with a bulb blower or brush.
The whole point is to remove as much of the dust grit as possible. Some dust can be hard particles that might scratch. But dust specks can become adhered to the surface, too. So you may need to gently use a dry microfiber cloth too. The cloth will become contaminated with particles, and if there is any oil that will contaminate it too. So either replace or clean the cloth fairly often.
Once you have particles off as best possible, to remove fingerprints and other oils use a clean microfiber cloth slightly moistened with a quality lens cleaning fluid (I've used Zeiss and other fluids, shop around).  Dry with another section of the microfiber cloth, or a different cloth. EDIT: Yes, you can fog the surface a little with your breath instead of using lens cleaning fluids. I do that all the time when I'm in a hurry, I have to admit. However, it really isn't a good idea. You can end up breathing things onto the surface you really don't want there!
The only time to use a Lens Pen is after all the above is done. It's used to remove light haze that's often left behind by cleaning fluids and to give the lens a final polishing. Do this gently and only after any and all grit has been removed, to avoid risking any scratches. A lens that's been given this final polishing with a Lens Pen will be much more resistant to new dust settling and adhering to the surface.
Other things that can be helpful include optical cleaning swabs such as Pec Pads. A Speck Grabber is a precise tool that can be used to remove individual particles.
I will not use common tissues, whether they are designated for lens cleaning or not. Most papers are made with wood pulp, and wood has minerals in it, which can be hard enough to cause micro-scratches in glass or optical coatings. Modern lenses have hardened coatings to make them more resistant, but look at older lenses with plain glass or softer coatings and you'll often find "cleaning marks".... very fine scratches in the glass or coatings, likely from using paper and/or not getting dust specks off first.
I also don't recommend using Q-Tips or other common "cotton buds".... those shed fine threads that can get stuck in places you don't want them. Now, it's more risky using those inside a camera, than on a lens. But stil there are better things to use.
There are swabs especially made for cleaing optics and cmaeras, and the Pec Pads mentioned above, for example. There are made from rags, not from wood pulp
A lot of the same things can be used for sensor cleaning, by the way.
Prevention is the best course... Use a lens hood and be careful handling your lenses to prevent getting fingerprints on the optics. Cap your lenses when not in use. Vacuum out your camera bag occasionally. Use common sense precautions when switching lenses. Though I personally don't like to use them all the time, a "protection" filter might be wise to use in some situations, such as in very dusty conditions or near the ocean, to prevent salt spray settling onto the lens (it's sort of "greasy" when it dries... can leave salt residue too).
And, you might be surprised how little some dust on a lens effects your images. Don't be obsessive about cleaning them. The most likely thing dust or oils might do is increase flare effects. A lens hood that reduces oblique light striking the lens can help a lot with that.
EDIT: Yikes!  It's almost scary how similar Tim and I answered your question, each coming up with almost the same thing independently.

  • Best Way to monitor standby, primary databases, including alert logs, etc.

Hi, Guys, I finally cutover the new environment to the new linux redhat and everything working great so far (the primary/standby).
Now I would like to setup monitoring scripts to monitor it automatically so I can let it run by itself.
    What is the best way?
I talked to another dba friend outside of the company and he told me his shop not use any cron jobs to monitor, they use grid control.
We have no grid control. I would like to see what is the best option here? should we setup grid control?
And also for the meantime, I would appreciate any good ideas of any cronjob scripts.
    Thanks

    Hi Red,
It is difficult to suggest anything on these topics. What you are asking is something on planning processes. No 2 company does the planning in the same way (though, they might belong to the same industry).
It is important to understand the requirements. You might not even required any business rules for Sales and Headcount planning.
It cannot be generalized. You need to understand the requirement, to assess whether you require any business rules or not. Every company has their own reporting requirements.
    Hope this helps.

    Dear All,
i had already implemented SAP Personnel Cost Planning for Employees using the basic pay method , now i am embarking for the head count planning using the organizational objects.
Please if anyone can guide how monetary effect can be seen in SAP PCP if we do quota planning (1019) and planning of personnel cost (1015) , and when we do data collection in PCP which method should i choose and what cost item should i create.
    Thanking you all in advance

if you are speaking of the Start of the year manpower planning hiring .....
    1. you need to first create planning types & periods
       (SPRO->PM->OM-Infotype settings-> Quota planning)
    2. go to PP01 and select the Org unit
        create the infotype Quota planning.
    3. here you can select the Jobs that you want to plan for.
(Quota planning as per defined by sap is Planning for Jobs to be created under org units.)
    4. The same can be created in planned status and then be approved.
    5. Also you may need to go through the reports in easy access menu OM-> Tools-> Quota Planning
S_PH0_48000088 - Delete Unoccupied Positions on Key Date
S_PH0_48000087 - Copying Quota Planning into Another Planning Type

  • What's the best way to set up new imac for logic etc?

    In brief:
Getting new imac (27", 3.4 i7, 8-16GB ram, 1TB HD). Will be using it mainly to run Logic Studio (loads of plugins) and Final Cut Express. I also have 2 external Hard drives one 500G one 1TB.
The last imac I bought was my first and just went ahead and threw everything at it not really knowing where things should go. This time I want to set things up correctly.
Basically, with what I've got, what is the best way to set things up. I.e where do I put logic files, samples, BFD2, Amplitube etc. Where do I put videos for use in FCE. Storing projects and backups for use with Time Machine.
Also noticed the new imac will only have 1 firewire port. I will need to plug in the Hard drives (daisy chained), camera and RME Fireface 800. Was thinking of getting a Thunderbolt Hard drive but they are expensive and hard to find.
Would really appreciate any help before I get the new machine and start messing things up again.
    Thanks.

Adding to babowa, enable the system firewall in System Preferences>Security>Firewall tab. Click Advanced and check Stealth Mode.
Lion is a pretty steady and secure operating system, and as there really aren't MANY Mac viruses, there ARE viruses out there still. OS X is pretty good about letting you know if you do accidently download a virus, and it will help you throw it away if it detects one, such as the MACDefender virus. OS X has built in security features such as sandboxing that doesn't allow viruses in as easily as a Windows PC. As for hackers, as long as you have the firewall enabled and a secure password (for your computer and email accounts), then you should be fine.
It's the user that lets the virus in, not the computer (unless there's some untold serious vulnerability in OS X, which is highly unlikely). Keep your apps up to date, don't download pirated software, and be street smart on the internet. Don't download things or visit websites that you don't think are real. Safari includes a Phishing feature that automatically detects known phishing sites, protecting you from that big problem. Keep your passwords secure and you should be fine.
There are antivirus solutions out there, one notable one available in the AppStore is Intego's VirusBarrier (free and plus versions), if you feel you still need one.
I wouldn't worry about it. Windows users who switch to Mac are always asking these questions.
Here's some good reading as well

  • What is the best way to assign time stamps to counter input data?

    Compact DAQ
    NI 9411
      Hi Everyone,
I am creating a chart recorder for collecting various engine data.  I need to plot engine speed, crank angle, and various analog data on an XY graph.  I am using a counter and a mag pickup to continuously measure the frequency of the flywheel teeth.  From this data I create an array of timestamps based on accumulated periods for each frequency measurement.  My problem is, how do I determine the absolute timestamp for the first frequency of the buffered data?  I need to sync the frequency data with the analog data so I can plot it all vs time on an XY graph.  The flywheel has 201 teeth and the engine runs at 600 RPM.
I am using a second mag pickup and counter to measure a single index pulse on the flywheel.  This will be used to determine the crank angle.  I also need to create a timestamp for each index pulse.  What is the best way to do this?
Is it possible to treat the two mag pickups as an encoder and not use the B phase (direction) pulse?
I am fairly new to LabView and any help would be greatly appreciated.
      Thanks in advance,

    Hi Kris,
With analog and digital input tasks in DAQmx, it is possible to acquire data of the type 'waveform'.This includes timestamp information for the acquired data. This example is a good one to reference to understand how this is done: http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-3749 .
With counter tasks in DAQmx, however, your best bet would be to use the 'Get Date/Time in Seconds' VI to obtain the absolute time. You can set this up so that the absolute time value is obtained right before the DAQmx read function is called, as shown below:
Are you trying to use the 9411 to read from the mag pickup? What type of data does it output?
For information on programming with NI-DAQmx, please refer to the following webpage: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/5438 . It is a very useful resource to get started on DAQmx applications! I hope this helps.
