BI-BPS Functionalities!

Can anyone tell me if we still have the missing functions which are part of SEM-BPS are not included in BW-BPS (NW2004s)

Thanks in Advance,

hi
If you need these functions, it is possible to install SEM component on BW and these functions will be added.
The difference between SEM-BPS 4.0 and BW-BPS 3.5 is about 10 planning functions ( whioch you have listed) that were not migrated to BW-BPS 3.5.
If you need functions such as allocation or account based currency translation, you need SEM-BPS 4.0.
Also BW-BPS seems to have a new forecasting function and some improved status and tracking. The full list of function differences can be found comparing documentation or from product marketing whitepapers available on SDN or ASUG.

  • BPS Functionalities and Limitations

    Hi all,
Can someone give an overview of what can be done and what cannot be done in BPS in NW2004S?

    Sathya

    Hi ,
BW-BPS is the beginning of the road towards an integrated planning solution. BW-BPS is not purely financially focused. Some of the functions which were available in SEM-BPS are not there in BW-BPS. Follwoing functions which are part of SEM-BPS are not included in BW-BPS

  • BPS on WEB and Workflow Tool

    Hello great people,
I’m implementing SEM-BPS 4.0 in an insurance company. When I arrived here the BBP has been already delivered, and the description of the SEM-BPS functionalities in BBP were in a very high level and because of that I’m facing some problems.
I have to decide whether I should deliver SEM on WEB or not as well as in what tool the workflow to implement should be developed. I had never worked with the WEB tools.
I have already searched for this and I know that Status and Tracking System only works in Web, and SAP Business Workflow works in WEB and GUI.
I would like to develop something that was a mix of the two tools (Planning in SAP-GUI and Approving in WEB). For you to understand my idea I will give you an example with all the steps.
    1.     The Planning Manager sends an email to all the Controllers telling them that they can start the panning process.
    2.     The Controller executes the Planning.
    3.     The Controller Supervisor receives an email with the indication that the planning is ready for validation.
    4.     The Controller supervisor analyses the data entered by the controller, and disapproves the planning. After this the Controller receives an e-mail with the correction instructions.
    5.     The Controller executes the corrections.
    6.     The Controller Supervisor Receives another email with the indication that the planning is ready for validation.
    7.     The Controller supervisor analyses the data entered by the controller, and approves the planning.
    8.     The Director receives an email with the indication that the planning is ready for validation.
    9.     The Controller supervisor analyses the data entered by the controller, and approves the planning.
According to your experience, what tools do you suggest me to use?
I have to communicate my client what tool it will use in next Thursday.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Mary,
I really have to implement a WorkFlow tool and STS apears the right tool even tought i had never work with it.
I'm starting to develop STS right now and i already have a problem that you may anwser.
The doesn't send the initial email notification. Do i have to make any addicional costumization?
    thanks for your help.

  • Export InfoCube Contents by Request to a flat file

    Hi SDN,
Is it possible, other than going into the manage contents of an infoCube,
to export to a CSV file, by a request id.
I had a look at the function module
    RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ
and it nearly does what i require, although i wasn't able to get it to work.
Can anyone firstly provide me with the parameters to input to get it to write to a file, say C:\temp.csv.
We are not able to use open hub service because of licensing issues.
Finally, if there is no easy solution, i will just go to the manage contents, and dump out the 3 - 4 million records identified by a request id number
    Thank you.
    Simon

Another options for "adjusting" a cube:
    - converting it to transactional and use BPS functionalities (ABAP report SAP_CONVERT_TO_TRANSACTIONAL)
    - loopback scenario: generate export datasource on your cube with update rules to your cube itslef; you would extract the data to be corrected to PSA; you can then edit this PSA (manually or mass updates with ABAP code) and the post it again in your cube.
    hope this helps...
    Olivier.

  • Affect of a new planning level selection

    Hi,
we have a BW-BPS environment with lots of BPS functionalities, palnning sequenses, save, copy functions...
Until now we have all products from SAP R/3 extracted.
Newly there are now in SAP R/3 lots of small products. Planning people donu2019t want to see and plan all products in planning layouts. They want to see to plan only the "important products".
    The following solution is thought.
we will create a product hierachie with 2 hierarchie node: "important products" and "small products".
the hier. node u201Cimportant productsu201D should be used in all planning levels in selections.
How can it (selection in planning level) affect the current planning functions ?
    What would you suggest here?

    Hi,
Planning functions are assigned to just one planning level. So if you have planned to restrict the values using Hierarchy at planning level, then the underlying functions will apply only to that hierarchy members.

  • BI-BPS Missing Functionalities!

    Hello Friends,
Does anyone know about release of 10 missing functionality in BI-BPS of SEM-BPS? Like allocations etc. I know that we can do them using FOX or ABAP but want to know if there is any pre-delivered template like in SEM-BPS for allocations?

  • Integrated planning Content and SEM-BPS Content

    Hi Experts
Is there any integrated planning Business Content for CRM? Where do I find it?
SEM-BPS has Business Content planning scenarios for CRM. Is this BC also available in BW-BPS now? Where do I find it?
We use NW04s BI and CRM 5.0.
    Kind regards
    Erik

    Hello Erik,
as of now I have not heard of such content.
Also SAP is not talking about CRM-content for BIIP yet. What we have learned is that a lot effort is put into making the system stable and going for "additional" functionalities like BC later.
What you could do is use BW-Business Content for CRM as far as possible (InfoCubes etc. ) and build the Aggregation Levels, Queries & Templates by yourself.
    Hope this helps

  • BPS Upgrade

As our BW is going to BI7, we are also planning to do the technical upgrade of BPS , I did search this on the forum but didn't see any. Does anyone have any thoughts, steps, pre and post upgrade activities for this ? It would be greatly appreciated. Pls send those at pulchowk47atgmaildotcom
    thank you.

    Hi Tom,
Thanks for your reply, I know about BI-IP is a new tool, but this time we are not ready to use this tool, we might try few application after the upgarde but at this time we have SEM 4.0 add-on sitting on BW box 3.0B. As the BW box is going to be upgraded into BI7, we have to upgrade our add-on to SEM 6.0 which goes with BI7. OR build all functionalities in BI7 directly with BW-BPS as BI7 already has BPS and BI both. But If I want upgrade our current functionalities I think I need to upgrade into SEM 6.0 Add-on into BI7 Box.
Can anyone give me some thoughts on this and docs if you have any?

  • BI Integerated planning and SEM-BPS ???

    Hi all ,
      I am new to SEM.
    Could you tell me
    1) if there's any difference between Bi integeraed planning and SEM-BPS ?
    2) if so, what are those differences ? & which one is better suited to planning needs ?.
    3) also can we use planning areas developed in bw-bps ???
Friends if you have any documentation  for the practical part of SEM-bps
could you please send it to [email protected]
    thanks in advance
    Nidhi Dashora

    Hello together,
BI-IP is under contruction and wil be replaced later instead of BW-BPS. For the mean time BW-BPS will exist parallel.
    Further details see here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b87271fb-0701-0010-00bd-b03502b8c011
This is the theorie. In the praxis there are big differences and BI-IP is in a "very eraly stage", you should have at least SP 10, better wait for 12 to able to have at least the most important functionalities in BI-IP.
    e. g. you can not plan on hierarchy nodes (e. g. you dont have standard distribute function to distribute from # in a query). This is available from SP12. And so on....
    regards

  • SEM-BPS functionality

    Hi to everybody.
I'm searching for a particular functionality of SEM-BPS but I don't know if it exists or if I have to develop it custom(for ex:with ABAP).
Here, the issue: I have a product-hierarchy, the last two bottom-level of which are PRODUCT and (under) SKU (PRODUCT is parent of SKU).
I want to spread (I mean "distribute") values of particular PRODUCTS down to the respective SKUs following the hierarchy definition. An example: the value of PRODUCT P10 down to SKU 19, SKU 20 and SKU 21, the value of PRODUCT P11 down to SKU 22, SKU 23, SKU 24  and so on.
I have tried to use ALLOCATION function and it works perfectly but there are too much parameters to define (sender, receiver, distributor and so on) and it isn't related to the pre-defined hierarchy (I mean, there is no possibility to define a hierarchical reference).
This problem is born because of the large amount of PRODUCTS and SKUs (it's an hard work defining every single parameter...).
So I'm searching to a function that permits to refer to the product-hierarchy and execute the spread.
    Any advice?
    Thanx a lot.
    Luca.

    Hi Luca,
I am afraid I may not be able to help you with  your query! But if you dont mind can I ask for your help. I am new to SEM-BPS. I have done certification in SEM but you know how its like. The pace of the academy is so fast and furious that it is impossible to retain most of the stuff after the academy. Now I am working on an SEM-BPS project. The company wants me to show to them what BPS can offer them. They are currently using their own bespoked planning software but are not very happy. I need to show to them the functionalities of SEM-BPS. Are their standard examples on heirarchies in BPS? Or is their something u can send me to get started with using heirarchies in BPS so that I can map their organistion structure to BPS planning layout and then can proceed from there? And last but not the least can you advise me on the structure of info cube? What things do i need to take in to consideration before I can design my info cube? Thanks a lot.

  • Step by step in BPS

    Hello
can anybody say me how I can learn SEM-BPS/BW BPS in release 3.5
I'm very new and i have no idee what i can learn this.
Is there an ebook or a special page.
Please refer not to a normal book.
I want an ebook or an internet page for free.
I need anything which I can learn step by step with good examples.
    thanks

    oesi yol,
I believe that hardly noone can learn a software with the complexity a flexibility of BW-BPS, without a significant investment, both in time and resources. Having work for the previous 7 years in SAP I would say the same about any other SAP product I worked with.
Presentations and elearning may show you glimpses of functionalities but ...learning BPS...forget it.
The best way to learn is by attending an SAP Education course. Still I haven't found an investment with a better ROI.
    Wish you luck.

  • COPA Vs BPS (BI Integrated Planning)

    Hi.
I would like to know if BPS or BI-Integrated planning replace the COPA module in SAP.
    Cheers
    Anand

    Anand,
The COPA data that is extracted will be stored in the data warehouse layer of BI 7 and which can be accessed  by a report in query designer in which the planing will happen.
The dtaa flows is like this:
1Enter and record all the business transactions in R/3 - various modules and components and transfer them to COPA.
    2. Build COPA data source in R/3
    3. Extact the COPA data to COPA DSO or Cube in Bi 7
    4. Make a planning cube in BI 7.
    5. Create aggregation levels, filters based on planning cube and actual cube.
    6. Create planning functions to do perform planning calculations and apply business logic.
    7. Create input ready query in query designer.
    8. Launch the query and planning.
Also, since BPS  is also present in BI 7 along with IP, you can do the planing in BPS component also, but any future functionalities will be delivered towards IP.
