  • Multi lingual support

    Hi,
I need to support multiple languages in my XML file. How can I do
    that ?.

The default character set for XML is UTF-8. Since
UTF-8 encodes all the Unicode characters, you can
have text in all the languages whose characters are
included in Unicode - which is lots.
    If you look at www.trigeminal.com
you will see an example of a page that contains a
sentence in many different languages and that page is
    encoded in UTF-8.

  • Arabic language is not supported

Why RIM didn't support Arabic language in playbook until the moment??
It is disgusting that they're not considering the Arabic users. Although it is available in the their phones, they didn't support it in playbook. I bought my playbook when I thought it is supported. I was disappointed when I found out that Arabic is not supported yet. I've been waiting since then for an update to fix my issue. I hope it is going to be soon. We all are waiting.

Just hang on. BlackBerry 10 will have multi-lingual support.
After the phones are released, you'll be able to upgrade the PlayBook to BlackBerry 10. No idea exactly when, but RIM have said it will come.
I imagine that most BlackBerry devs are working on BlackBerry 10 and the current Tablet OS team is focused on the next version now.
Doesn't fix it now, but at least it's coming.

  • Multi-Lingual Forte Applications

We have at least one application site that needs to have their applications in
multiple languages. If any of you out there have experience in doing this and
can offer tips/techniques it is appreciated.
Also, have any of you evaluated Lindhard Forte Solutions product called
    Ambassador Translation Wizard or know
    of any other products?
    Thanks in advance,
    Peggy Adrian
    Global Forte Support

    [email protected]

    Hello Peggy Lynn & Joseph,
My name is Kerry Bellerose. I work for Lindhard Forte Solutions
and I saw your note in the Forte User's list concerning multi-lingual
    applications.
I just wanted to send out a quick note to let you know that we would
be happy to answer any questions you have about the Ambassador
    Translation Wizard.
Did you know that you can download a free demo version that you can
use to quickly evaluate the product yourself? All you need is a PC
running Windows 95 or Windows NT and Forte release 2 or release 3.
Just go to our web page at:
    http://www.lindhard.com/forte/ambassador.html
Then select the Download a Free Demo Version image. The demo version
is very simple to install (it comes packaged in a self-extracting
installation program that are common in windows).
The demo version itself is a Forte application, not an animated
presentation, which means you can actually use the program directly
to get a complete understand of how it works.
The only restriction is that the demo version will only translate
the demo project we provide. Otherwise, it has all the functionality
    of the full release.
As far as we know, there are no other products available on the
market that automate the process of adding multi-lingual support
to an application. The only alternative is to hand-code your
own solution. As Joseph points out, this is a lot of work,
including at least hundreds of GetMsg statements.
But multi-lingual support requires more than just writing GetMsg
statements, and Ambassador does much more than just automatically
generate this code for you. Ambassador also maintains this code
as you modify your application. Ambassador generates the message
catalog for you. Ambassador minimizes the amount of translation
work you need to do by reducing the number duplicate strings in
your message catalogs. Ambassador also provides a Translation
Editor to make the translation work itself easier. And Ambassador
supports all the languages that Forte supports, both European and
    Asian.
All in all, compared with manually supporting multi-lingual
applications in Forte, Ambassador can potentially save your
project months of developer time. That is why there are already
several Forte customers who have choosen Ambassador, and others
that have approved it for use in appropriate projects.
Please let us know if we can help out in any way.
    Cheers,
    Kerry
PS. If for any reason you are unable to access our web page,
please let us know, we'll be happy to send you a copy
of the demo version on CD ROM.

  • How to insert multi-lingual information into an NVARCHAR column

    Hi,
I've searched through the forum but couldn't find an answer, and have spent days on this already.
I have a Java Web Application, and the user may enter information in any language into one of the forms. I need to collect the user-input, and insert it into an Oracle 10g database.
    My database settings:
    WE8ISO8859P1 for Char/VarChar/CLOB fields and
    AL16UTF16 for Nchar/Nvarchar/NCLOB fields
I have defined the columns that require multi-lingual support to be NVARCHAR.
My question is, how do I insert into this column? From what I read, it seems that no conversion needs to be done, but doing this:
    update <table> set <column> = '什么'
does not work. The '什么' is some Chinese characters I copied and pasted from a Chinese site.
Apparently, if I convert the Chinese characters to a hex string and do this:
    update <table> set <column> = unistr('\xxxx')
    then it will work.
However, is there a way to avoid doing this conversion and let Oracle handles the conversion?
    Thanks in advance,
    Elaine

    Hi Denes,
I saw the example in your workspace and it is the same what exactly i want and instead of storing in one column i want to store the two selected values into two different columns. Also i need to restrict the selection of checkboxes upto 2 only. So If the user tries to select the third check box it doesnt have to accept.
Even I am ready to change my table as according to your example i.e. creating only one column. Store the values of selection into that column.
I was unable to see how u wrote the logic (Code) for your example in your workspace. It helps alot if you provide me the code for that example(Multi Checkbox One Column).
I was facinated after watching your examples in your workspace and am very much interested to know more about Apex.
Please help me insolving this as it is long pending issue for my requirement.
    Thanks a lot again,
    Sekhar.

  • Turkish support for sentiment analysis

    Hello,
in many web pages it says
"Oracle Endeca Server supports following languages:
Catalan, Chinese (simplified/traditional), Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish"
Does this mean Turkish is also supported for sentiment analysis? I could not find Turkish in Endeca documentation.
    Thanks..

I'm assuming that you are using the Text Enrichment component in the Integrator ETL product. In that component, the Sentiment Analysis feature uses the Salience Engine from Lexalytics. The languages supported by the Salience Engine are listed here:
    Multi-Lingual Support | Lexalytics
Turkish is not one of the supported languages.

  • Opening RTF file in Farsi characters/words are missing

In opening an RTF file written in Farsi - or English and Farsi - many of the letters/words are missing. If I open the file up in Microsoft Word for Mac the words are there, although left-to-right rather right-to-left. (Again Microsoft screws with us as Microsoft Word on Windows will do the right-to-left.)
The same missing letters/words are found in TextEdit.
Interestingly enough OpenOffice opens the file right-to-left with all of the words/characters there.
I did take this problem to a Apple Genius at an Apple Store yesterday and he confirmed it's a software problem.
My question is when will it be fixed and does it affect other right-to-left non-standard character sets like Hebrew.
    Thanks. Rick

MsWord for Mac is pretty useless for multilingual support especially RtoL.
The same missing letters/words are found in TextEdit.
Did you export as Unicode text from MsWord for Windows, which has excellent RtoL support? See if .doc works.

Good question, all RtoL text in OSX is practically unworkable, especially when trying to edit it and any English text within RtoL. This is something I have been "offering feedback" to Apple since OSX came out supposedly with full Unicode and multi-lingual support. 10 years ago!
Right up to OSX 10.2.3 I was frankly misled by Apple (not allowed to use the 3 letter word here) who made out that I was doing something wrong (what an unusual approach by Apple!). Even then I did not get the truth from Apple but from a sympathetic developer.
Meanwhile it ruined my reputation with a few key clients and cost me a motza on the jobs I was doing for them.
The only working RtoL support you are going to get in OSX is [Mellel|http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/8712/mellel] . But my recommendation is to stick to MsWord on Windows where you will be able to do more in the way of layout.

  • Z-Report Preparation

Hi, I want to know basics in preparing the Z-Reports. I mean when you do confirmation where the data will be saved? the table name that appears in CO11N screen (by clicking F1-> Tech info) will remain same when we save? or will it change? any specific steps req? pls help.

    Why Report Program?
Report Programs are used to display large amounts of data.
Used when data from a number of tables have to be selected and processed  before presenting.
Used when reports have to have a special format.
    Transaction:
    SE38.
    Report programming:
Report  programs are always executable programs.
Report Programming is an Event-driven programming.
The first line of a report program is always Report <report-name>.
In order to suppress the list heading or the name of the program the addition No Standard Page Heading is used.
The line size for a particular report can be set by using the addition  line-size <size>.
To display any information or error message we add a message class to the program using the addition: Message-id  <message class name>.
Message classes are maintained in SE91.
    selection-screen:
    Definition:
It is the screen where one specifies the input values for which the program should run.
The selection screen is normally generated from the
                     1. Parameters
                     2. Select u2013Options.
    Syntax:
    selection-screen begin of screen <screen #>
selection-screen begin of block <#>  with frame title <text>
        u2026u2026u2026u2026u2026..
                 selection-screen end of block <#>
    selection-screen end of screen <screen #>
    Parameters
Parameters helps one to do dynamic selection.
Parameters can accommodate only one value for one cycle of execution of the program.
    Syntax
Defining parameters as a data type
                        Parameters p_id(30) type c.
Defining parameters like a table field.
                        Parameter p_id like <table name>-<field name>.
    Parameters can be listbox.
                        Parameter p_id like <table name>-<field name> as listbox.
Parameters can be Checkboxes as well as Radiobuttons.
        Parameters p_id as checkbox.
        Parameters p_id1 radiobutton group <group name>.
        Parameters p_id2  radiobutton group <group name>.
    Select-Option
A Select-Option is used to input a range of values or a set of values to a program.
    Syntax
Defining Select-Option like a field of a table.
                       Select-Options s_vbeln for vbak-vbeln.
A select-option can be made to look like a parameter. Following is the syntax
                         select-options s_vbeln for vbak-vbeln no intervals no-extension.
One might want to make it necessary to input some values for the execution of the program. In such a case, the  addition u2018obligatoryu2019 is used.
Eg:  Parameters p_id like vbak-vbeln obligatory.
          Select-options s_vbeln for vbak-vbeln obligatory.
You can specify a default value to both a Parameter and a Select-Option with the u2018defaultu2019 addition.
                Eg: Parameters : p_date  TYPE sy-datum  DEFAULT sy-datum.              Select-options s_date for sy-datum default sy-datum.
You can hide a parameter , select-option with u2018no-displayu2019 addition
                Eg: PARAMETERS d TYPE spfli-carrid  no-display.
      Select-options s_vbeln for vbak-vbeln no-display .
Text Elements: Three components (Path: Goto Text Elements)
    List Headings
           - Used to make Dynamic List Headings
    Selection Texts
           - Used to give a name to the select-options and parameters which will be displayed in
              the selection screen.
    Text Symbols
           - Used for printing texts either on the selection screen or in the report output.
    Importance
    Text Elements enjoy multi-lingual support.
Hard Coding can be avoided using text symbols.
    Events in report program
ABAP/4 report programs are event driven programs
The different events in a report Program are:
    Load-of-program .
    Initialization.
    At Selection-Screen.
    Start-of-Selection.
    End-of-selection.
    Interactive Events.
Therefore an ideal report program should start with:
Report <report name> no standard page heading
                                        line-size <size>
                                        line-count <n(n1)>
                                        message-id <message class>.
    type of reports:
    Classical Reports
    Interactive Reports
    Logical Database Reports
    ABAP query
ALV Reports (ALV stands for ABAP List Viewer)
    Report Writer/Report Painter
Views (There are different types of views also)
    flow of events:
    INITIALIZATION->AT SELECTION-SCREEN->START-OF-SELECTION->END-OF-SELECTION->INTERACTIVE EVENTS
    EVENT OF REPORT:
    Load-of-program
Triggers the associated event in an internal session after loading a program of type I, M, F, or S. Also runs the associated processing block once and once only for each program and internal session.
    Initialization.
This event is executed before the selection screen is displayed .
    Initialization of all the values.
You can assign different values other than the values defaulted on the selection screen .
You can fill your selection screen with some values at runtime.
    At Selection-Screen.
The event is processed when the selection screen has been processed (at the end of PAI ).
Validation & Checks of inputted values happen here
    Start-of-Selection.
Processing block is executed after processing the selection screen
All the data is selected in this block.
All the main processing on the data except for interactive reporting is handled in this block.
    End-of-selection.
Data which is selected and has been processed is printed to the screen in this block.
List Processing happens in this block
    -Top-of-Page.
    -New-Page.
    -End-of-Page.
    Interactive Events
Used for interactive reporting. It is used to create a detailed list from a basic list.
    Events during List Processing
    Top-of-Page.
Triggered by the first write statement in the program
It is used to have a standard header in the program for all the pages.
TOP-OF-PAGE is only executed before outputting the first line on a new page
    New-Page.
Can be used when one wants to display different data on different pages
Terminates the current page and continues output on a new page.
Will not trigger the Top-of-Page or End-of-Page.
    End-of-Page.
It is used to have a standard footer for all the pages.
Triggered by the program if the number of records exceed the line-count of the program.
    INTERACTIVE REPORTING
    Purpose
User can actively control the data retrieval and display of data
To create a detailed list from a very basic list
To make a report interactive with another transaction.
    Snippets
The detailed data is written on a secondary list.
The secondary list may either completely overlay the first screen or one can display it in a new screen
The secondary lists can be themselves interactive.
The first list may also call a transaction.
There are different events associated with interactive programming. (Again!)
    EVENTS IN INTERACTIVE REPORTING
The following are the different events associated with Interactive Reporting
    At Line-Selection
             - Event is triggered by either the user double clicking a particular line or using F2 to      select it transaction.
    At User-Command
             - Event triggered by user pressing a function key
    At PFn
              - Event triggered on press of a function key .The position of the cursor in the list is                                    I          irrelevant. Where n is between 0 to 99
    Top-of-Page during Line Selection
Event called during list processing when a detailed list is called
Some commands used for Interactive Reporting.
    Hotspot
If one drags the mouse over the data displayed in the report using the FORMAT statement then the cursor changes to a Hand with an Outstretched Index finger
         Syntax:      Format Hotspot On (Off).
    Hide
This command helps you to store the field names based on which one will be doing further processing to get a detailed list. It is written directly after the WRITE statement for a field. When a row is selected the values get automatically filled in the variables for further use.
         Syntax:     Hide <field-name>.
    Get Cursor Command
Like Hide this is also used for getting the values after selection of a row.
         Syntax:
         1. GET CURSOR FIELD f.  2. GET CURSOR LINE lin.

  • DATA INPUT IN URDU LANGUAGE WITH ENGLISH

    Dear brother
    Asalam-o-Alekum
I want to do some inputs in URDU, ENGLISH mix in my Form.
    For example:
I put the name in Item Name : Pepsi Cola 200 ml..............The same item name input need in URDU but the (200 ml) is in Number & English. Its mean that I want to do inputs in URDU, NUMBERS, ENLISH.
After the inputs we required to print in URDU also.
I also want to understand step by step solution
    I am using Database 10g on Windows SERVER 2003 (32 BIT) NLS_LANGUAGE = AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252.
    I am using Forms6i & Report6i on Windows 7 (32 BIT).
If any one having a solution please forward to me

    Hi,
For English-Urdu bi-lingual support you need to have your database created to use the appropriate character set for Urdu. WE8 in WE8MSWIN1252 stands for Western Europe 8bit. You need to find the right character set for Urdu and use it when creating your database.
If you db is already created and populated with another char set then the conversion may be a little complex.
Once your DB has the right char set, you also need to change your Dev 6i Forms Char set in the Windows registry. Look for AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252 and change it to the same value as what you used in the DB.

  • Please help to resolve this issue

To have multi-lingual support, I defined all javascript alert messages in
    a properties file.
If I have the javascript function within the JSP and if I do this,
    alert('<bean:message key="label.get.myalert"/>');
    it displays the alert message.
but, if I have the javascript function, in a seperate .js file (included in the jsp), it dosen't
display the alert message. It simply shows whatever there (<bean:message key="label.get.myalert"/>).
How do I resolve this problem?

that's because the js file is stored on the client ,achine and Struts does not have an opportunity to do the substitution. You can use the js file but define the messages as JavaScript variables in the relevant pages and have the JavaScript in the js file use the JavaScrript variables.
