BI Query Designer (PM Related)

I am looking for an urgent solution to the following challenge. Any help would be appreciated.
This is PM related and is based off of order statuses. I need to display system and user statuses (both selectable - one or many) from left to right with the counts of orders in those statuses displayed right below (left to right again). I have counts of orders, counts of orders by system statuses and counts of orders by user statuses as the 3 KFs in my cube. The user will select an order type and a time range to display the order counts. The orders that have the statuses (selected) within the user selected time frame are candidates for the reports.  The key figures should be dynamically displayed based on the statuses the user selected. The system and user statuses are optional inputs on the selection screen (can take in multiple inputs).
Thanks

  • Query Designer: calculate relative revenue

    Hi,
I would like to calculate the relative revenue (= revenue / revenue of the biggest market participant) in the BEx Query Designer. I have a key figure "revenue" and my market participant as characteristic.
I first tried to create a formula like "revenue / max(revenue)" but this doesn't work that way in Query Designer. I now tried to solve this with a calculated keyfigure but don't come to a solution.
How can I do a calculation like this in Query Designer?
    Thanks!

Create a 'Replacement Path' variable having reference to 'Market Participant' characteristic. Use this variable in your formula and use the Max. function on 'Market Participant' variable.
    Hope this helps.

  • Difference between  aggregation and calculation tab in BEx Query Designer

    HI,
I am using BEx Query Designer for my report, for the key figures in the coloumn area i slected one numeric key figures, in  the properties tab i found aggregation tab and calculation tab.
I need to sum up the total values for that particualar coloumn, when i used calculation tab i found to sum all the values for a particular coloumn, then what is the use the aggreagation tab?
I not able to used that Aggregation tab it is showing as a hidden fields...
can any one tell me whats the exact difference between these tabs and when we need to use which tab?
    With Regards,
    Thanesh Kumar.

    Hi Thanesh Kumar,
I moved this thread from forum Data Warehousing to Business Explorer since it is a query related question (as SDN moderator).
I could explain to you the difference between these two tabs.
For "calculation" tab, it changes the display of result and does not change the calculation logic.
It means that, if this key figure is used further in formula, still the original number (without "calculation" tab setting)  is used for further formula calculation.
For "aggregation" tab, it changes the real calculation logic.
The system takes the setting as the aggregation rule for records.
The most common aggregation rule is of course summation. If you set to e.g. Average here, the system does the
Average instead of summation when aggregating records. And the Average value will be taken for calculation
in further formulas or other calculations.
For "aggregation" tab, you could only use it for CKF (calculated key figure) or formula and you could not use it for
a basic key figure. That should be the reason why you see it greyed-out.

    Patricia

    Hello,
I have the same problem with Flat mode is not supported! at ... Characteristic.setHierarchy(Characteristic.java:335):
Open, close, reload of the query does not help.
Other SDN-thread "500 Internal Sever - Flat Mode is not Supported!" related to transaction RSRT.
Execution of query via RSRT works, but the problem still persists in the BEx Web Analyzer.
Could be related to a BEx Web Analyzer "bookmark" ("Personalize Web Application").
I have not deleted any item. We use SAP BW 7.0 with a patch level approx. 09.2009.

  • Condition (Defintion) in BEX Query Designer

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to define a condition in BEX Query Designer.
I defined my condition and bit confused with Characterstic Assignment
What Happens if is select 9What is the difference)
    1) All Characterstic in the Drilldown Independtly
2)Most Detailed  Characterstic Along the Rows
3)Most Detailed Characterstic Along Columns and
    4)Individual Chars and Chars.Combinations
    Thanks

    Hi,
<b>● All Characteristics in the Drilldown Independently</b>
This setting allows you to apply a condition in a general way. Depending on which characteristics you use in the drilldown, you obtain different results.
Note that the characteristics that are already used in an active condition for characteristic combinations are not included.
This option is optimized for ranked list conditions, but can also be used for threshold value conditions with relative values.
<b>●Most Detailed Characteristic Along the Rows or Columns</b>
This option is optimized for threshold value conditions. The condition is applied to the most detailed characteristic of the rows or columns.
Note that this function is not supported when executing the query in the BEx Analyzer. For more information, see Restrictions in the BEx Analyzer.
<b>● Single Characteristics and Characteristic Combinations</b>
This setting allows you to evaluate the condition for characteristics or characteristic combinations defined for specific drilldowns only. You can select any characteristic (of the characteristics used in the query in rows, columns, or in the free characteristics) or a characteristic combination.
    ○       If you only want to evaluate the condition when a certain characteristic is present in the drilldown, select this characteristic.
    ○       If you want to evaluate the condition for characteristic combinations, select multiple characteristics.

  • Need Help: Query Designer

    Hi experts,
In Query designer, is it possible to create an IF statement for "IRRATIONAL NUMBERS"?
Lets say 10.03, 1.26, 3.1 and so on...
The statement would be as follow:
    If Val1==N.x then 0 else Val1.
To summary, if the value is N.x (N for rational numbers 1,2,3,... and .x for decimal values like .23, .44, .01 and so on...),
then the value N.x will be changed or converted into "0".
Example: If the value of FieldA on the report is 10.3, it then should be converted into Zero "0".
another is if value is 1.03, then the report should show 0 instead of 1.03
I arrived to a solution wherein I have to create three logic expression.
First is to convert first the Irrational Number into Zero "0".
Second is to create new selection in KF wherein it will pull the data containing the converted "N.x to Zero".
And third is to create the IF statement logic that will satisfy my expected value.
I'm having this problem on the first one as I have no idea how to convert irrational number into zero "0" value.
the second and the last part would be fine as my main problem here is how can I convert the irrational number in to zero?
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
Please try the below.. Hope this will solve your issue
    Eg. of data
    Dist. Channel  -
    Value
    Dom1----100.5
    exp1----200.4
    dom2---50
    exp2---75
    Expected out put
    Dist. Channel  -
    Value
    Dom1----0
    exp1----0
    dom2---50
    exp2---75
    Steps1
Drag and drop Dist.Channel in row and value in colum
create a formula1 using ur kf value
CEIL(value)    --- which will provide us integior part with out decimal
    Steps2
    create another fomula2
using boolean operator compare the value
    (formula2==value)*value
this formula compare our two values and will produce a boolean value ie 1 or 0
:  Eg 100.5  ceil(100.5) = 100  Now in our formula1 we are comparing these two values are equal or not ie 100.5 - 100 so out come will be 0 then 0100.5 = 0 always if our condition is true then 1100 = 100

  • Can't find the ODS in query designer

    Hi Gurus;
I am using SAP_BW 30B. I just created an ODS but I can't find the ODS under the InfoArea menu in query designer. I am not sure if it is related but, I tried to check the box for BEx Reporting under ODS settings. When I save or activate the ODS again the check in the box disappears. I can view other ODSs that are previousy created and non of them have a check for BEx Reporting under settings.
I tried to delete the entries in the ODS and try to check again but no difference.
    Need your help.
    Thanx a lot in advance;
    Duygu Sile

    HI,
Select the option, Create new query when you create for the first time on the  ODS and after designing the query it will ask for the Infoprovider under which the query has to be saved, give the ODS name which you  have created.Later Your ODS will be visible while creating queries.

  • Authorization issue in bex query designer

hi all ,  my SAP GUI version is 7.10 , patch 17. , i am facing this issue regarding the ,I have been analyzing a data target for a new requirement , but i am facing problem accessing the reports created on the same data target. i am able to open the previous report in the analyzer built on this data target , but when i tried to edit it using the query designer , the stats message appear as follows
message:  Authorization change not available for query ' voice of customer.
.INFO: new functions :'xxxx' can not be edited in the query designer
i am facing this problem in all the queries related to  VOC ,. please help me in solving this.

  • Query designer report and Web Templates

    Dear All,
    I have a very basic/stup doubt.
Are reports made through Bex Query Designer and Web Templates the same?
Actually there is a following requirement:-
"Navigate from a BW Web template to a PCUI application". I have a document related to it but it gives me step on how can i modify my web templates to achieve this functionality. But all my reports are made through query designer and it available to user through Web Dynpro portal.
So i just wanted to know is Web Template and Reports made through query designer the same? So that i can implement the changes in my report.
    Thanks.

    Hi Anup,
by using web templates we can use N number of data providers (Queries) for a single analysis view with various available options. - N number of Queries can be assigned to Web template to create a web report
but by using the Query designer ,you can create a single report which may not provide sufficient information to the client and the number of features are less compared to web template.
as you mentioned that you are using the web dynpro.
i think the web dynpro requires the web reports as an iview and ths iview can be created by using the Query designer and or web app designer.
so the most clear view can be given to client using the WAD reports

  • Cell definition in Query Design within Bex Analyzer

    Hello,
I would like to use special cell definition to visualizing the difference row definition between 2 columns (last year and actual year). With "Cell Definition" function in Query Design within Bex Analyzer there's a option to select a new restricted key figure for a related cell. But as a result I just can see a star (*) against a result number in that field. Do you have an idea, how can I solve this problem?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nuran

    Hi again Dirk,
there's not a unit problem. We use 2 different restricted key figure definition for a same row. The first restricted (or can be decribed as calculated key figure) key figure must be used in the first column to represent the value of the last year. And at the same row with usage of same text (for example: cost of goods sold)the second restricted key figure should be used to show the value of actual year (B2:costs in euro). The problem is the key figure definitions are totaly different; they're using different account groups etc. Cause of, I wanted to use cell definition function. In the first value field (B1) should be shown first key figure but I just get star (*) and a wrong value in the formula field of excel (between the toolbars and the result area).
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Can't see good variables in Query Designer BW 7.0

    Hello,
The technical name of our caracteristic variables in the Query Designer are prefixed by "OR_" or "SV_". I try to make a filter in this variables (for example: a user must be able to see only "SV_" variable) with the authorization objects S_RS_COMP and S_RS_COMP1. But this filter does not work, even if the ST01 trace shows me a Return Code = 4 for the test in the variable technical name.
Have I made something wrong ? is it a bug ? (we are in BW 7.0 SPS9 with Sapgui 6.40 SP 19 and BEx SP 12).
    Thank you for your help

    Hi Paul,
If iam not worng, are you asking about Infoobject level security in BW?
If it is, the following are the steps need to be implemented:
    <u><b>Steps to Implement InfoObject Security (field-level security)</b></u>
    1) Make the InfoObject authorization-relevant.
The Authorization Relevant setting for an InfoObject made in the InfoObject definition on the Business Explorer tab. The business needs will drive which InfoObjects should be relevant for security. Keep in mind that the people using SAP BWare running queries to help make strategic decisions on how to better run the business. The decision makers typically need to see more data on SAP BW than they would need to see in SAP R/3.
    2) Create a custom reporting authorization object.
Since there are no reporting authorization objects provided for InfoObjects, you will have to create your own reporting authorization object for any InfoObject you decide to secure. This is done in transaction code RSSM. When creating your reporting authorization object, you select which fields to put in the authorization object from a list of authorization-relevant InfoObjects. Only InfoObjects that have been marked Authorization Relevant are eligible to be put in a reporting authorization object.
    3) Add your new authorization object to a role.
Once you have created an new reporting authorization object and linked it to the appropriate InfoCube(s), users will need access to your reporting authorization object. You will need to manually insert your object into a role.
    4) Add a variable to the query.
The reason the variable is required is sometimes unclear at first. If we want a  query to only provide results based on the division, for example, then the query itself needs the ability to filter specific division values. Before we can secure on division, the query must be  able to restrict data by division. The only way the query can restrict data dynamically is through a variable.
    5) Link the reporting authorization object to an InfoProvider.
Linking your reporting authorization object to an InfoProvider is a very critical step. In this step, you will impact people currently executing queries for the InfoProvider that is now related to your reporting authorization object. This linkage forces your reporting authorization object to be checked when ANY query tied to the InfoProvider is executed.
Hope it helps, please revert back if you are asking for something else.
Please reward points if it is sueful.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Santosh

    Hi all,

" SAP BEx Query Designer standalone has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

She is not having issues while opening BEx Analyzer. She is having Office 2010. This doesn't seem to be compatibility issue with the Office. This BEx was not installed on her machine 2 weeks back and it was working fine until now.
As a first re-solution i told her to get it re-installed but still she is getting the same issue.

  • Basic Difference in Query Designer

    Hi All,
Can anybody let me know the difference between Characteristic Restriction and "Default Values" tabs under the Filter section in Query Designer.
I am able to restrict the same on both these tabs.I am able to use variables on both side even constants on both sides.
    Kindly let me know.

    Hi......
    Characteristic Restriction
Here u define the characteristic filter values..........which apply to the entire resultset........This cannot be change.....
Suppose u restrict Plant .......to show within 1000 to 5000.............May be the actual Plant range  is from 1000 to 8000...........But in the entire result on value for the Plant within range 1000 to 5000 will be displayed ........
    Default Values
In this pane u define the characteristic filter values which should be used for the initial view of the result set..The user may choose to modify these filters in the result..........
Suppose you set default value for Plant 1000..........then the initial screen will only display data related to Plant 1000......
    Hope this helps......

  • Question about calculation example with Query Designer

    Hi guys,
I have to calculate within columns and rows and I am not familiar with the settings in Query Designer that could be done to achieve the results.
    For example:
    Payments----
    Delay -
    Weighted Delay
    1000USD--10 days--
    10000
    2000USD--20 days--
    40000
    3000USD--xxx--
50000 (this is the sum row)
The column marked with the xxx is calculated with the sum of weighted delay divided by the sum of payments (50000 / 3000).
Has anybody an idea how the sum row can be calculated separately?
    Thank you for suggestions!

    Hi,
Assuming you have the Payments Infoobject in the rows and WD Infoobject in the columns; Delay as a formula object.
    > Payments----
    Delay -
    Weighted Delay
    > 1000USD--10 days--
    10000
    > 2000USD--20 days--
    40000
    > 3000USD--xxx--
50000 (this is the sum row)
    > The column marked with the xxx is calculated with the sum of weighted delay divided by the sum of payments (50000 / 3000).
You may try this workaround of using
    NODIM( SUMCT(WEIGH_DELAY) / SUMCT(PAYMENTS) )
on a formula variable. (In this case, the assumption is you have not static type-restricted the rows/cols) If you find any hinderances in the default approach, you may check this out as a formula & insert this at the cell editor level.
If not, use a simple formula variable; here define the replacement path as 0(N) for your Payments. (N being the # of digits)
    Use a simple calculation:
    SUMGT(WD)/FV
But you may not get an result o/p in the last row, as the values are not linked (sans relation with Payments). as it will return a X for the delay in the Result row.
Pls. let me know know if this works or some sample o/p if the initial assumption was wrong.
    Thanks,
    Arun Bala
