BI setup: WebAS ABAP Setting - Java to ABAP communication problem

Hello,
i've got a problem during intallation of BI in Netweaver 2004s. The Diagnostics & Support Desktop Tool reports errors in WebAS ABAP Settings. These errors are:
- "Web Template Validation failed due Java to ABAP communication problem (return code:ERSBOLAP018)"  with the suggested solution "Check Connector Connection of System Object in Portal System Landscape". What does it mean?
- "Call ABAP->Java for function RSWR_RFC_SERVICE_TEST failed for destination <destination>" and "Call ABAP->Java for function RSRD_MAP_TO_PORTAL_USERS failed for destination <destination>" with suggested solution "Check the data of the destination in transaction SM59. Check that the target host is running and has registered a program id in the gateway." Run of transaction SM59 returns no errors.
Further i've take a look in the log 'dev_jrfc.trc' and there i found the errors:
- Exception thrown by application running in JCo Server
java.lang.RuntimeException: Bean RSRD_MAP_TO_PORTAL_USERS not found on host <host>
- Exception thrown by application running in JCo Server
java.lang.RuntimeException: Bean RSWR_RFC_SERVICE_TEST not found on host  <host>
- Exception thrown by application running in JCo Server
java.lang.RuntimeException: Bean RSWR_PREEXECUTION_PROXY not found on host  <host>
Can these errors be the cause of the WebAS ABAP Setting error displayed in the Diagnostics & Support Desktop Tool? How they can be solved?
Thanks for your help,
Martin

Hello Chetan,
thanks for your response. Maybe i've described my problem not clear enough. There is no problem of installation and usage of support & dektop tool, but of installation of BI. The support & dektop tool indicates the errors described above with no other hints. My questions is, if anybody knows, what is the cause of the errors and what i must do, to install BI correctly.
Cheers,
Martin

  • Web Report - ABAP Vs JAVA engine - ABAP 10 times faster than JAVA

    Guys,
I want to share what we found in our project and see if any of you have insights
into our findings. We are on NW2004S SP14 and we are moving to SP15 in a couple of weeks. We created query, developed WAD for it and executing the WAD takes for this query takes 22 secs (Vs 2 secs using ABAP) the query output has 1 million records and most of the actions we take from that point on like right click on account takes 20 secs (Vs 0 secs/instant using ABAP) , drilldown to level 4 of account hierarchy takes 58 secs (Vs 5 secs using ABAP), drilldown on cost center level 6 takes 42 secs (Vs 4 secs using ABAP), , right click on cost center takes 32 secs (Vs 3 secs using ABAP), ..etc.
Basically every action we take in the JAVA report takes an average of  28 secs. There are 9 aggregates built on the cube that are barely hit by this query but the same query performing same actions with same selections hit the aggregates many many times. The questions I have is why is ABAP so fast compared to JAVA ? What is true explanation behind this behavior ? What are the dis-advantages by using ABAP engine ? Users are loving the performance and features of ABAP while they weren't really on board with the original JAVA report (as it was slow). ABAP is sure enough 10 times faster than JAVA. Query/Query Properties are exactly the same in ABAP and JAVA.Please explain.
    Cheers
    RT

    Hi All,
Thanks to all you for your responses. I appreciate your time for going through my questions and coming forward to express your views.
However, I was looking for more specific "factual" answers. My question is "What does a client miss if they opt to install only ABAP based BI 7.0, as against JAVA Based BI 7.0"
    thanks again.

  • SAP Solution Manager ABAP or JAVA or ABAP+JAVA ?

    Hello.
I want to install Solution Manager for use Maitenance Optimizer ( accept download baskets, configure other SAP system, support packages ...).
I wanted to know if installing ABAP instance is enough? or I have to install Java also?
    Regards,
    Amit

    Amit,
SAP Solution Manager is separate application.  You need ABAP+Java stack to use Maintenance Optimizer.
Please read documentation from following link

  • External facing Web Dynpro - Java or ABAP

We are planning a external facing web site delivering dealer information from SAP backend. We would like to use Web Dynpro to build the site since that give us easy access to SAP data. But we are not sure if Web Dynpro is suited for such use.
Can anyone share their experience on delivering Web Dynpro application, Java or ABAP, to external facing web site? Is it required to also have a external facing portal to authenticate users? Can we apply the external facing portal scenario when delivering web dynpro iView?
    Thanks
    Ben

    Hi Ben Liang ,
You can simulate the requirement both in webdynpro java and webdynpro abap. For botht he case an external facing portal to authenticate users is required

  • Is it possible to install JAVA and ABAP trial ??????

    Hi
i have read some posts in this forum which say that it is possivel  to install a full stack ABAP + JAVA with EP. But some of this are from 2006, and the versions that they installed are not the same anymore.
    <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloaditem?rid=/library/uuid/cfc19866-0401-0010-35b2-dc8158247fb6">sdn Downloads</a>
my question is, Can I install ? :
Java Full Edition trial - SAP NetWeaver 04 SP16
                           +++
SAP NetWeaver 2004s ABAP Trial Version (incl. Web Dynpro ABAP) - SAP NetWeaver 04s SP11
                            = ???????
by the way, thank very much for you support to the newbies in the forum

    Hi Pedro Vieira,
At May/24/07 I finished the ABAP + JAVA installation with success (see versions below):
From  "Downloads" / "SAP NetWeaver Trial and Preview Versions"
    1) SAP NetWeaver 2004s ABAP Trial Version (incl. Web Dynpro ABAP) - SAP NetWeaver 04s SP11
    2) SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version - SAP NetWeaver 04s SP9
As Mr. Heilman said, FIRST ABAP THEN JAVA, I tried JAVA + ABAP install (3 times) with no success, JAVA worked but ABAP not.
My config: Windows XP PRO SP2 (last updates); Cpu Intel Dual Core 3.0GH; RAM *** 2GB ***; 2 HD's with Dual Boot (C: and D:).
The installation was done on "D:" with a NEW AND CLEAN WinXP installation, only the basic (drivers, WinXPPRO updates). "D:" is my test "machine"/driver.
Note1: To keep the previous successfull installation saved (WinPro, ABAP , JAVA), I used Mr. Petra Schmeil Tip (See link01 below) "...for instance with
Norton Ghost or something like that. Just keep in mind!..." and allways keep a IMAGE COPY from my D: driver before and after a succesful installation. (See link 01)
    Install:
    1) ABAP stack installed with no problems, just follow the instructions.
    2) JAVA stack; that was hard to me. I tried at least 3 or 4 times. If I got a problem, I recovered previous IMAGE COPY (ABAP install succesfull) and started again.
    Some tips for JAVA stack:
    a) Use "j2sdk1.4.2_09" as recommended in documentation.
    b) Before start installation, set your clock to "GMT +1" (see Mr. Erin Richason Tip, see link02 below)
    c) If in step 2 you get the error:
    INFO[E] 2006-11-22 21:29:36
FSL-02077  File system export (share) saploc does not exist.

Folow Mr. Curd Abstoss  tip "In line 23234 stands this._name = name; . I changed it to this._name = "L013"; where L013 is the name of my laptop" (See link03 below)
    d) After ABAP and before JAVA install, stop all SAP* services
    e) If port 3601 or 3201 (don't remeber wich) is in use (by ABAP), exclude it from .../drivers/etc/services (see System Requirements at JAVA).
    e) After JAVA sucessfull install, if port 50100 dont work use 50200 (instead "http://localhost:50100/" use http://localhost:50200/).
That was MY recently experience, I hope it is useful for you.
PS. Sugestion, before start, read the topics (links below) and the documentation (***Trial\DOC\html\index.htm) for ABAP and JAVA.

  • WebDynpro with ABAP or JAVA?

    Hi all,
I am a veteran in ABAP. I wish to learn web dynpro. I never worked on JAVA. Can anybody advice me which programming language i should use to learn WebDynpro development. Also let me know which companies have webdynpro projects in India?
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi Buddy,
Welcome to intresting world of Web Dynpro.
As veteran ABAPer you should go for WebDynproABAP .
             Now why ?
    Point 1:
In my view WebDynpro ABAP and Wd Java are not same.
Basically WebDynpro ABAP and Java are two different webDynpro provided by NetWeaver Stack.
Basic conceptual base of WD ABAP and WD Java is same.I mean to say concepts like Context binding , node , elements , Layout both support are same.
But when you provide background functionality to your Web Screen then Java or ABAP come in to picture.Just take case , you want do some thing on click of some button then
    1) in case of java may you will call some ejb or you will may write some java code on click.
    2) but in case of WD ABAP you have to do same thing with ABAP classes . You will call some call or some method of some system defined class.
    Ulimately point I want make
    1) WD ABAP and WD java 's Base is same but you code in completely different way.
    2) Purpose for which SAP came with two different WDynpro is different. Java can be used for developing quite sophistcated Web services.
    Point 2:
another help for you .Just go thr' following thread
How much of oops ABAP is required for ABAP Webdynpro .
    Point 3:
You can start with tutorials and all

  • Web dynpro abap or java ?

    Hi All,
Our client wants a web front end for the SAP system and has asked us to search which web dynpro ABAP or Java will be suitale ?
They were of the opinion that web dynpro for ABAP is not that good for web interfaces is it correct ?Also is there demend for web dynpro developers in the market ?
    Thanks & Regards
    Gaurav Jain

    >They were of the opinion that web dynpro for ABAP is not that good for web interfaces is it correct ?
What do you mean by Web Interfaces?  Web Dynpro ABAP and Java are well suited for created browser-based (or rich client based) business application User Interfaces.  If by Web Interfaces you mean Internet facing, highly customizable user interfaces - then no - neither web dynpro abap or java are really well suited for that situation.  WDA and WDJ are both designed to create consistent Business Application user interfaces.
Now if you just want to compare WDA and WDJ - that is a very different question. The differences in capabilities are relatively minor. Generally it comes down to which programming language you have more of a skill set in and how close to the underlying data you need to be.  Also are you planning to extend existing SAP applications?  WDA is primarily used by SAP within the Business Suite (ERP, SRM, PLM, etc) - two exceptions however - WDJ is used in ESS/MSS (although newer portions of that solution are in WDA) and CRM uses BSP/CRMUI.  WDJ is used by the middleware components (Portal) and edge or composite applications.

  • Web Dispatcher and SSL on ABAP+Java

    Hello,
Have installed SAP web dispatcher on WAS 6.40 ABAP+Java system. Communicating with Portal SP16 system.
The HTTP works fine. Have not been able to get SSL working with web dispatcher.
For troubleshooting activated ITS on this system and HTTPS works fine with ITS webgui.
Have followed the "how to" SSL for web dispatcher guide.
Also should mention that we have generated certificate requests and PSE's but our organization has not yet chosen a certificate authority to sign the cerficates. For other scenarios (log onto Portal, XI, etc) the only difference is the certifcate warning dialog, otherwise works fine.  Would this cause a problem for Web Dispatcher?
Trying the SSL end to end scenario receive
WARNING: Could not start service 0 for protocol HTTPS on host "max-sap" on all adapters
    Is there anything
    unique for the ABAP+Java configuration?
    Thanks,
    Alan

I solved this problem by setting the following profile parameter on my webdispatcher profile.
    wdisp/ssl_ignore_host_mismatch = true
Doesn't fix the underlying problem but got me going until I can figure it out.

  • How to consume the Abap web service in Java web-dynpro

    Hi Everyone,
I want to consume ABAP web service in java web dynpro.
so when i tried to create model in java web-dynpro, it gave me an error message saying "Invalid WSDL or WSDL not found".
i think this error message is because, to access the WSDL of abap web-service, we need username and password, but the dialog box in java web-dynpro is not programmed to take username and password from us and send it to the server to get the WSDL.
i came to this conclusion because i was able to successfully test my abap web-service in java portal. the java portal asked me the username and password to open the WSDL.
So, please help me to consume the abap web service in java web-dynpro.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Vikas

    Hi Vikas ,
while creating a model in web-dynpro try to use the "import web service model" option and if you are using local server choose the local server option so that you can get the available web services which are in server, select one among them and continue you process.I think this is the some what easy way .
If you want use the URL for wsdl better to once test the available service in server and copy that WSDL URL and paste over  WSDL textbox.
I think this is pretty help ful to you
    Best Regards

    Preethi D

    Hi,
Step step description here is not possible.
It always advisable to go to service.sap.com/instguides.
slow and steady wins the race.
    good luck.
It's advisable to have quad processor with atleast 8GB ram.
If it's a nw04s then at a shot you can select AS ABAP. JAVA, EP, PI(XI) and proceed.
    hope this helps you.
    reward suitable points.

  • ESS Business Package for ERP 6.0 is a ABAP or JAVA Web Dynpro

    Hi,
We are trying to implement ERP 6.0 and ESS with the Portal.
Is the ESS business package a ABAP or JAVA Web Dynpro????
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
ESS BP is a portal content (runs only on portal runtime) which can only be deployed and run on SAP J2EE server (So it is java based).
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/f6/263359f8c14ef98384ae7a2becd156/frameset.htm
From EHP2 for ECC 6.0, you have an option choose ABAP WebDynpro for Travel related services. However, the portal content (iViews) is still on SAP J2EE server.
    Thanks

         3)  From  which  version   onwards  these are  existing
    Thanks for  your  help.

    Hi Ravi,
The following are basic differences between ABAP and JAVA WD.
    1. ABAP WD can be developed in ABAP Workbench thru transaction SE80 whereas Java WD needs SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
    2. Since ABAP WD is a part of the ABAP Workbench, it has direct access to ABAP dictionary. Hence access is faster.
    3. In order to develop on ABAP WD, you will need basic knowledge of ABAP objects, whereas in Java WD, dev is using Java

  • Ess Time Sheet and Attendance Web Dynpro - ABAP or JAVA

We are determining the resources we will be needing for the HR - ESS Time Sheet and Attendance Module.
What is this module written in.  ABAP Web Dynpro or Java Web Dynpro.
    Many thanks,
    Multiple replies welcome.
    Ken

The ESSTimeSheet is now called Record Working Time & for now it is still in WebDynpro JAVA.. looking at how complex the whole application is, it will really take some beating to rewrite the same in WDA.

  • NWDS Webas Java to Abap JCO call

    Hi,
I have WebAS Java + ABAP Stack 6.40.
For development I use SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Version: 2.0.23
I would like to call RFM from Java.
Can I call RFC from Java using the JAVA <-> ABAP RFC destinations,
or do I have to log on to ABAP explicitely using like the following:
              JCO.createClient(
                      "CLIENT",
                      "USER",
                      "PASSWORD",
                      "LANGUAGE",
                      "SERVER",
                      "SYSTEM",
                      "GROUP");
    Thanks
    Matthias

You might benefit by reading the JCO pdf delivered with the jco download from sapservice.com....(free)....
Usually it is easier to define the structure and the function interface as an SAP function even if there is no body (abap to java). This means that the JCO will read correctly all the metainformation about the function. You then call the function as an RFC specifying the host...
    Have fun...
In your case I would read carefully the example (getting the company code info etc...)
It shows how to manipulate the table returned by ABAP...

  • Using CE 7.1 ESR with ABAP based web services requires java development?

    Hi All,
When developing a web service in ABAP, what java development must I do to make the web services available in an ESR that is located on CE 7.1?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Mel Calucin
    Bentley Systems, Inc.

    Hi Stefan,
Someone told me that the difference between CE 7.1 ESR and PI 7.1 ESR is that to register the ABAP web service into CE 7.1 ESR you need to create EJBs and that you don't need to do this for PI 7.1 ESR (since ithe PI 7.1 ESR is ABAP based).  I didn't think that this was the case so I put this question in this forum to confirm this.   I am arguing to put in CE 7.1 because we don't need the PI 7.1 functionality.  This someone told me that we are more of an ABAP shop than a Java shop and that we don't want to develop EJBs whenever we develop ABAP based web services.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Mel Calucin
