Big Eudora problem, small Finder issue-- related?

I use Eudora for my email, and unfortunately my big Eudora problem is not getting solved in the Eudora message board; after half a day of Eudora quitting unexpectedly and then working fine but just for a few minutes if I restarted my computer, now when I launch Eudora, my Finder crashes-- everything disappears but the background image, and the computer is frozen.
The reason I'm posting here is that before it reached this stage, there were other weird things that didn't relate to Eudora: I would try to launch Flash, and Flash couldn't open a new blank file. I would try to launch something else, and an error message would say that some component in a Library wasn't found. All of these things are not happening anymore; as far as I know, only Eudora is misbehaving, but one odd feature remains: every finder window is showing, next to the search field in the upper right, a large question mark, and next to that there is a folder icon. If I click on the folder icon, I'm taken to one particular folder in my HD that has no significance to anything that I can tell. If I click on the question mark, I get "the item can not be found." (Hence the question mark, I guess). But what are those doing there in every finder window? Is there supposed to be a folder icon at the middle-top-right of every finder window? I don't remember one there.
I have done an archive-and-install of OS 10.4.6, but the finder window business is still the same.
The hardware test CD that came with my PowerBook says all hardware is okay. Disk Warrior finds no problems. Disk Permissions are okay in Disk Utility. I ran Clam Xav, and it found four copies of viruses: three (called Email.Ecard-6) in my In box and in two mailboxes with older In messages, and one (called Email.Phishing.Pay-8) in my Out box. I put all of these files in the trash and restarted my laptop, launched Eudora and the finder crashed. I reinstalled Eudora and the same thing happened, although I had put the infected boxes back in place before reinstalling Eudora.
I don't know where the problem is.

I've just found the solution:
Open - System Preferences, then open - Spotlight
There is a list of categories.
Find - Files on the list, then click, drag and drop to the position number 1 and "voilá"

    Hi Ankit,
    You may use "Cross Platform Transportable Tablespaces" method if the endian format is different between source and target platforms. Please have a look at Oracle's "Platform Migration Using Transportable Tablespaces" document for more information: http://www.oracle.com/au/products/database/maa-wp-11g-platformmigrationtts-129269.pdf
    Please note that "Transportable Database" is a different feature and can only be used to migrate a new database platform that has the same endian format.

    You can restart your iphone, reset, your iphone and restore your iphone.

  • Performance issues -- related to printing

    I am haviing production system performance issues related to printing. endusers are telling the printing is slow for almost printers. We are having more that 40 to 50 printers in landscape.
    As per my primary investigation I didnt find any issues in TSP01 & TSP02 tables. But I can see the table TST01 and TST03 table having many number of entries (more that lakh). I dont have idead about this table. Is ther eany thing related to this table where the print causes slowness or any other factors also makes this printing issue .. Please advice ..

    TemSe cannot administer objects that require more than two gigabytes of storage space, regardless of whether the objects are stored in the database or in the file system. Spool requests of a size greater than two gigabytes must therefore be split into several smaller requests.
    It is enough if you perform the regular background jobs and Temse consistency checks for the tables.
    This will help in controlling the capacity problems.
    If you change the profile parameter rspo/store_location parameter value to 'G' this will make the performance better. The disadvantages are TemSe data must be backed up and restored separately from the database using operating system tools, In the event of problems, it can be difficult to restore consistency between the data held in files and the TemSeu2019s object management in the database. Also you have take care of the Hard disk requirements because in some cases, spool data may occupy several hundred megabytes of disk storage. If you use the G option, you must ensure that enough free disk space is available for spool data.

    Following my issue relating to a blank screen 2 weeks ago, your advisor arranged for my iMac to collected by Amsys, for repair and return, this was done and it was returned to me last Tuesday, onWednesday I set up my iMac again and instantly realised I had problems, much worse than before. I called Amsys to inform them of the issue of the computer being very very slow and unable to open iPhoto and pages, and document listing would not show up, plus I had no sound on the mac.They informed me that they had only replaced the video card and what they had done would have not affected the computers performance. He suggested I reinstall OSX again which I did, but this made no difference to the programs, so I called you.
    Your technician on the phone was very good as they have always been, and made an appointment for me to go into the Milton Keynes Apple store the next day at 1 pm, which I did.
    The gentleman on the Genius Bar was very good and was able to run tests on the iMac in my presence, and diagnosed immediately an issue with the sound problem, and advised me that this could not be fixed while I wait and I would need to leave it for repair. I made him aware of the previous repair, and he was able to see via your system, the list of logged issues I have had with this since purchasing in September 2012. I'm sure you can see from the way you record all calls and issues the problems I have had.
    Today I called to ask if my iMac would soon be ready for collection, I was told the repairs had been completed and it was being tested. However to my dismay, I learned of another serious issue relating to the repair carried out by Amsys. I was informed that 6 screws were missing from the the iMac internally, which caused me much distress and concern, they also told me I had to wait even longer as the screws had to be ordered and installed on arrival before I could collect it.
    My issues here are: I trusted the Amsys repairer as it was arranged and recommend by you, it is very evident they are not competent to repair, as they have caused more problems with my iMac on its return, despite enclosing a checklist, fully ticked showing everything working well, it clearly wasn't ! Plus the issue of missing parts (screws) during the repair, I have already expressed my disgust with Amsys, by email and had a response, within the hour, apologising and told me they were looking into this.
    This where I stand on this, I have not had my iMac for  almost two weeks and I do not know when I will get it back. I'm also very worried about what other damage has been caused by Amsys and the quality of my iMac now. I want to know what you, Apple is going to do about this ? I have already been very inconvenienced by this and until now I have been a very loyal apple customer with 2 iPads, and 4 iPhones in our household, not to mention the iMac.
    I feel I have been very let down by this experience, on my iMac, which cost a lot of money, I have also lost a lot of money with lost work and unable to carry out my business without it, and I will be seeking compensation.
    I trust you will take this complaint seriously and pass it to the relevant department for action.

  • The big iChat problems. Audio/Video (now completely broken in 10.7.3), the "not-authorized" problem

    So, I am running iChat on OS X Lion 10.7.3 on an early-2011 MBP 13'' . These problems have been here for a while, though (I got my comp with 10.7.0). I have AIM/GMail/Yahoo connected..
    One problem is the issue of non-authorized people. There is a list of "not authorized" people that I have to scroll past in my "offline" section of iChat buddies before I actually get to the real offline contacts. Big note here: All these people have the address (something)@aol.com. These contacts have come up as a result of my gmail connection. You see, a few months ago Gmail and AIM did this chat unification process where @aol.com contacts can be just added into Gmail for chatting. These @aol.com copies come up asking for an invite when the REAL AIM address person talks to me. The invites leave once I press decline, but then they stay on my list as not authorized. If I delete these "not-authorized" copies, the invites will come up again and the cycle will repeat. It is a nuisance considering how much of these false contacts are on my list.
    Second problem is video/audio chat in general. This issue really applies on AIM/Yahoo—there is nothing for Gmail because people usually use the web interface which simply doesn't work with iChat video/audio. If the people used Google talk, the issue written below would probably come up.
    See, what happens is that…(now in 10.7.3), video/audio chat is simply broken, simple as that. My contacts always tell me that an error has occurred when trying to accept my video chat invite. It simply doesn't work. They are using AIM desktop in most cases. When it DID used to work (to a very limited extent, I'll say; it was hit or miss earlier pre 10.7.3, now it's just miss), it was just video but NO audio. They could see/hear me, I could only see them. When I did audio chats, they hear me, I..don't hear them (so audio chats were pointless). The only case where this problem doesn't happen is where it's Mac to Mac, iChat to iChat. VERY limited in use of audio/video chat, if you ask me.

    If AIM contacts have been added to your Google Buddy List then I would login to Google and remove them from there  (the iGoogle or GoogleMail web pages will show the Chat option)
    Whilst they are still in the List then the Authorization request will probably be resent (In this case it is probably being generated by the method Google are using to add the AIM names as iChat only sends it once).
    Google/Jabber Video chats is only iChat to iChat and so is Yahoo with iChat 6.
    The Yahoo App streams Video which People can be allowed to see and Audio is added in as an Audio Chat.
    The connection Process is not the same and iChat/AIM
    Jabber and Google use Jingle to Connect (in fact Google's version is not that compatible with other Jabber apps).
    This means iChat to the Standalone PC app  or any Web Browser using the Google Video Plug-in (PC or Mac) or to any Jabber app that is using a Google ID (or a Jabber ID) will not work.
    On the iChat to AIM on a PC.
    This has always been a bit of a hit and miss affair.
    Some people have no trouble but other spend ages trying to set things up and never find the solution.
    This is the Original Users Tip  (up to about AIM5.9)
    A "replacement" for that tip that has not made it across yet.
    I have yet to try Video to the Web Login version that is now on offer.
    However I would limit the Bandwidth in iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section to 500kbps (possibly try 200kbps for 1-1 chats) as you will not know the interent speed available to the Buddy if they are using the web login.
    Comparisons
    When you compare iChat actual functions to what you would like it to do it can appear to be limited.
    On the basis that you would want your IM app to be able to have Buddies from other services listed in a Buddy list (combined) or Lists which apps do you know of can do that and Video to some of them ?
    Adium and ProteusX can both have Buddies from the major Services ina  Buddy List but don't do Audio or Video.
    Yahoo and MSN both allow the other's Buddies in the list but I am not sure about Video or Audio chats
    They cannot connect to Jabber or AIM buddies even for text chats.
    Jabber does depend on the server you use and whether that does Transports for you to have text chats with other services.
    Instructions for iChat.
    Mercury IM is a JAVA version of MSN and still has not got to Audio and Video
    Similar for aMSN
    Gizmo5 and YakforFree both died...
    Skype is Cross Platform  but is only 1-1 in Video chat.  (cost extra for 3 and 4 way chats)
    Yahoo had dropped support for their Mac version now iChat has the Yahoo option  (you can still download it  - IT being the beta it has been for  years).

  • Finder Issue

    After iMac (10.6.8) has been running for a few hours, sometimes less than that Garageband and iTunes won't open.
    I have been keeping track of different scenarios when this happens and every time it happens I have noticed that the Finder won't allow me to save any file to the HD or the external drive because the item could not be found.
    It will allow me to save files to the Desktop however.
    I have no idea if Garageband and iTunes and the Finder acting up are related but just putting it out there.
    When I click on any  location via the side bar icons all I get is the respective icon appearing and .
    However, when I click on the Devices icon in the sidebar I can path my way to my user and it allows me to save it anywhere I want.
    Rebooting only fixes these issues temporarily. I have run Disk Utilty from the Start Up Disc as well and everything came back with no problems found.
    Also I am having to Force Quit all Apple based programs such as iWork 08 during this period of the Finder Issue and I cannot access the About This Mac function.
    I can however activate the Software Updater.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Robert!
    It sounds like there may be some sort of an issue in your operating system causing this to happen. You will probably want to create a Time Machine backup of your computer and reinstall the operating system to see if that affects the issue.   • Problem on Goods Issue Order for stock in SU managed staging area

    During Goods Issue for production Order - mvt 261 - (both in case of MIGO or MB1A) an error message is received in case of material to be consumed in a storage unit managed area (control cycle setting).
    Error message - negative stock can't be created in SU managed area.
    Movement type 261 is used with standard SAP configuration on movement type configuration and IM/WM interface.
    Could someone help me explaining if SAP foresees the possibility of goods issue related to production order in case we set a sU managed area in the control cycle.
    The expected behaviour for the system is to:
    - create material document on IM
    - create negative stock in the interim goods issue area (914)
    - create the related the transfer orders or requirements from SU managed stating area to 914
    Unfortunately the negative stock error message is received and the goods issue posting is not possible.

  • How to fix issues related to static electricity

    I had my iPad connected to a headphone jack for an external player. There was a small static shock when I touched and unplug it. My iPad mini seems to now be having issues related to static electricity. I am clearly having a issue with the audio output thru the headphones. It works normal until the volume scroller gets to 3/4 up, then there is a very irritating static like noise mixed into the other outgoing sounds.
    Also the battery seems to be losing power at twice or three times as fast as before. I've only had it a month and half. Can this be fixed somehow?

    I have Iphne 4s/5.0.1 and I'm also stuck with same problem from last 5 days. I have restored/backup/updated the phone as many times as possible. I have been with Vodafone Customer Care (India) and now everyone knows my problem there, but there is no solution.
    I have read and tried most of the solutions provided here. Please help me out.
    Problem -
    1. 3G / Edge working when restore as new phone
    2. 3G / Edge stops working as soon as backup is restored
    3. Copied and verified both of the files (8218978e4ab0a48035bb92653145a6be872ea858 (Restored new iphone & Restored backup iphone) have different settings. Replacing part of this file or even complete text of this file, changes the date/time stamp of file and on backup restoration it says "Corrupt backup" and phone restarts.
    4. I dont want to Jailbreak the phone
    5. Using any third party software to install new APN says "Only One APN can be installed"
    6. Profile doesnt show any other APN
    Is there any other way to delete this file (com.apple.managedCarrier.plist) or just change the section where in string value is "Portalnmms" to required value "iphone" along with key?
    Please help me out.

    My Scenario is i have an Purchase Order with Excise Duty of 16.48%
    For Eg: Net Price(1000) + Excise Duty (16.48%) = Rs.1164.8
    my vendor gives me a Modvat of 10% i.e Rs.104.8
    but i have to pay him the total amount (i.e with excise)=Rs.1164.8
    How to do the GR with Excise & Invoice Verification??
    Wat amount will be Credited to vendor???
    How to do Excise Posting for this Scenario???

    User doesnt know at the Time of Purchase Order that how much excise & Modvat will be getting. Only the Gross value is given in the Purchase order including all
    taxes ( No Tax Code in the Purchase Order).
    Excise Invoice and Vendor's Bill are received when the Materials are received.
    They will get the Modavat according to the Excise Invoice of the Manufacturer 
    Now while doing GR i manually give the Excise BED & Cess given in the Manufacturer Excise Invoice.
    Post the Excise Invoice before doing MIRO.
    The Problem is in the MIRO Transaction.
    At the MIRO i have selected the Tax Code with Excise.
    System is caluclating the the Excise on the PO Value i.e more than the value in the Vendor Excise Invoice (Part 1 & Part 2) and the Liablity of vendor is increased and the difference amount is posted to the material.
    Everything is going fine except the Vendor's liability and it should be value of the Purchase Order.
    How the system is caluclating the Value ???
    am i doing any wrong procedure???

    and my OS is Vista Home Edition (32 bit precision)?
    And so after physically installing the hardware, I quickly installed everything there was on the CD- this included the drivers available on the CD. After this installation, I restarted then found most recent updates via online sources (creative.com). But even after all of this, I wasn't able to get my microphone to work. Now from my understanding, the jack is shared between Line-In and Microphone and I'm supposed to configure this setting. And so I tried to do that, but my only problem was that I was unable to use any of the available features. After researching for a few hours I found out that I, appearently have to uninstall everything that I had installed and then reinstall everything from online sources (from creative.com-- latest drivers for vista 32 bit). But even then, I still can't use my mic or configure the settings so that I could use microphone instead of Line-In.
    Now going back to my actual question, how do I configure the settings so that I could use Microphone instead of Line-In?

    Almost the same problem here.
    Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio edition, Windows 7 64bit.
    I downloaded the latest driver from the Creative site, installed it, update with the update manager and then i installed the console.
    Issue number : I DONT have your same console. I dont have a "Mode" button, im stuck in Entertainment Mode. I cant control almost nothing and i dont have all the options u have.
    Issue number 2: My mic isnt working good. It's VERY low on volume, i cant be heard without the +20db boost (the only boost option i have, i cant boost more) and even with that acti've that's not that loud.
    It is still working good with my onboard realtek soundcard. I cant understand what's the problem and how to solve it.

  • Finder issues and Get Info refusing to show the number of files on items on the main hard drive.

    I am having finder issues. Mostly on the main hard drive. It takes ages to find things and I get the spinning wheel every time I open a folder.
    So I moved all of my files to a external drive.  When I had finished transfering I hit get info on the files on the external drive and on the same folder on the main drive.  To ensure that it has copied over all the files.  Because it was acting up and not copying all the files.
    Get Info refuses to show the number of files within the folders on the main hard drive. It hasppily tells me everything on any of the external drives.
    I have reset, the imac.  I have re indexed 3 times.  I have deleted the finder plist files.  I have reset finder using terminal commands. I have moved nearly everything off the main hard drive. But nothing is working.
    Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what could be causing my finder and get info issues.
    Any help wpuld be appreciated.

    Some of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock those files and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Back up all data.
    Step 1
    If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
    Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -N {} + -type d -exec chmod +x {} + 2>&-
    This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
    Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
    Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
    from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
    Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
    Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
    Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
    Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Severe problem with 'Drill to Related' using drill icon

    Hi
    I have a severe problem with 'Drill to Related' in Discoverer Plus (10.1.2.54.25) using the drill icon of a worksheet:
    1. Though existing no items to drill to are shown in the context menu (or pop-up list), instead it says just 'Drill to Related...'
    2. Clicking on menue item 'Drill to Related...' results in 50% processor load (permanent) and no further update of the browser window (IE 7.0.5730.11) containig Discoverer Plus. There is no recovery of that state within about 20 minutes.
    This behaviour is both highly reproducible and annoying.
    When using the drill dialog instead of the icon the expected items are shown and 'Drill to Related' works fine. Although that is a workaround I don't think it acceptable to tell the end-users to use it.
    I searched metalink for a hint but couldn't find anything.
    Can anyone help?

    This seems to be a bug that was fixed earlier since we didn't experience it having applied cumulative patch 3 earlier.

    We still had to apply the patch for the bug I mentioned earlier in this thread in order to be able to see and select an item to drill to. Unfortunately the problem with the processor load up to 50% and nothing happening is still there.
    By the way IE 7 is certified now according to the Oracle certification information.

  • Finder issue with Spaces

    I found a Finder issue when using spaces. I performed an upgrade installation on my Intel Core Duo iMac. Finder worked as expected. Then, I turned on Spaces. After a few minutes the finder hung. I tried using activity monitor several times to force quit it. Finder quit, then relaunched and hung. Then, I turned off Spaces and the Finder stopped hanging and functioned as expected. I turned Spaces back on, and the Finder is still working currently. I am not sure if this bug will reproduce itself at this point.

    Turns out I was having the same two problems as the original poster. It also turns out the solution to his first problem, which he outlined in the third post, happened to solve both problems on my machine.
    In your Spaces prefs (Expose & Spaces in the System Preferences), make sure "When switching to an application, switch to a space with open windows for the application" is checked!
    Seems to have worked for me!
    Here's hoping this solution helps others with the same problem. =)
