Bizarre Dreamweaver Error

Whenever I open a page in Dreamweaver MX 2004/7, I get this
error:
"The DynamicSelectList script does not define the
findServerBehaviors function."
From that point forward, whenever I try to cut and paste
within my code, I get this dialog box and error message:
"While executing onLoad in PasteFireworksHTML.htm, the
following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
In file ""PasteFireworksHTML"":
ReferenceError: initialize is not defined"
I am not aware of anything I did that would cause these
errors and it is making it very difficult for me to use the
Dreamweaver product.

You can try this simple fix -
Quit DW.
Find this folder -
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
(these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use
Explorer > Tools >
Folder Options to unhide them)
or on Mac -
Library/Application Support/Macromedia/Dreamweaver
8/Configuration/MacFileCache-*.dat
and delete it.
Restart DW. Works better?

  • Dreamweaver error with windows

Recently I bought Adobe WebPremium CS3 which includes many
components such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Contribute. I can
open and use all of the components except for Dreamweaver. Shortly
after the start page of dreamweaver displays, I get a message
"Adobe DW CS3 has encountered a problem and needs to close". It
allows me to send an Error Report to Microsoft which I have done
but have not gotten any resolution. When I close the error message,
DW also closes. Can anyone provide assistance how to get rid of
this error? I have also contacted the vendor that I bought the
    software from. Thanks

What OS are you running? Sending DW error messages to
    Microsoft isn't going
    to do much for you....

  • Dreamweaver Error when using Record Insertion Form Wizard

This is the error I'm getting:
While executing onLoad in ServerObject-InsRecPHP.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occured:
At line 283 of file "C:Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\Configuration\Commands\ServerObject-FormCmnPHP.js":
    invalid array length
The strange thing is, that I've added a form using the wizard before and had no problems. But I deleted the form and wanted to create a new one using the wizard again. And that's when I got the error. I tried this on another computer and got the same error.
Please help, this is very aggrevating.
*Also, I've done the same thing on multiple computers and get the same error.
I've tried deleting the file cache in the configuration folder as instructed by an individual who was talking about JavaScript errors and it still doesn't work.

I know its 4 years later but I just got the same error. after several hours of debugging i found the issue was in my database.
I have fields named - length, width, height, weight.
I fixed it by changing them to Lamplength, lampwi   etc
hope that helps anyone else in the future.

  • Dreamweaver error when using Business Catalyst module tags in template

    Hi all,
this is a recent and very distruptive error I have come accross in Dreamweaver CC.
When editing a document attached to a Business Catalyst template in Dreamweaver,
I was getting an error message (attached) saying:
"You have made changes to the code that is not marked as editable. If you retain those changes, they will be lost the next time you apply a template update to this file. Do you want to retain the changes until then?"
This happened every time I added a new html tag to the page, p div etc... which made DW unusable for editing files.
Having not got any useful help from BC support, they told me to contact Dreamweaver support!
In the end, I found through troubleshooting that it was the content holder module tags from Business Catalyst that were causing the problem,
I had recently converted my Header, Footer, Scripts etc to Content Holders in the site admin,
and when I removed these tags from my template and replaced them with the original html the problem disappeared.
The problem was happening on both my macs so the problem looked real to me,
but from searching online I couldn’t find people with similar issues, which made me think I must be doing something wrong.
    As an aside,
I find the workflow between Dreamweaver CC and Business Catalyst, particularly in relation to DW templates very confusing.
I couldn’t find any up-to-date best practice guides for using DW in the Business Catalyst workflow that discusses the real issues I get every day:
    - Best practice DW template editable region for {tag_pagecontent}
    - BC pages updated from DW lose their page titles {tag_pagetitle} in BC admin (always causes problems for me)
If anyone is having these issues and found a way to get around them I’d be very interested,
I hope that this post will help some people who run into the same problem.
    thanks, Kieran Mahon.

I found what may be at least a temporary solution to this problem. The error seems to something to do with the template file not having been updated, so whenever DW reads the file it looks like the template code has been changed (which of course it hasn't). It may be to do with the way BC treats the template code on the server side, as it seemed to start happening after I had downloaded some files from the server.
I opened the affected page and clicked Modify->Templates->Update Current Page and so far no error messages. Just one gotcha though. If you have any BC tags or Liquid code in your templates, DW converts it all to some kind of gobbledegook, so before you update the Template, copy all of your editable code and then paste it back in once the update has been done.

  • OracleAS Portal Extension for Macromedia Dreamweaver errors

I have installed the .ear file and the extenstion into Dreamweaver without any problems.
I then created a Portal Template page and tried to save it to the Portal (Portal - Save As). Entering the Portal instance and testing this was ok but then when I try and save my new template to Portal I get an error:
"A local copy of the file must be present before uploading the Template to Portal. Would you like to save a copy now ?"
If I OK this I then get the following error:
"While executing onClick, the following Javascript error(s) occurred:
At line 443 of file c:\Program Files\Dreamweaver MX\Configuration\Commands\saveAsTemplate.js": The function closeDocument() is currently unavailable"
    Any ideas ?
Anyone got this to work ?
    Thanks
    Simon.

    Hi Simon
wrt to the "This Template was either not stored properly or defined incorrectly. This Template cannot be opened" error.
One of the probable causes for this error is when you define more than one portal connections with the same name or you define a portal connection with a name which has invalid characters and then save a template into that portal or try to open a template from that portal.
This error basically means that the web service is returning a null value or an undefined value for the template code. This could also be because of malformed template code.
Could you please check the following:
    1. You have not defined more than one portal connections with the same name
    2. You have not defined the portal connection with a name that has invalid characters.
    3. Template does not have malformed code.
    Hope this helps,
    Ramya

  • Question about eaither a user or dreamweaver error

    Hello everyone,
When I added some html code that  integrates with another php file for a  "contact us" form, now all of the  content almost is blank in  dreamweaver. I can still preview in the  browser and it looks correctly  but am wondering why it does not show in  dreamweaver design mode how it  does in the browser.. I have googled and  not found anything but maybe  trying to google for the wrong thing.
Here is what the page looks like in dreamweaver

Here is what it looks like in firefox when I preview the page from dreamweaver
    http://img713.imageshack.us/i/dreamweavererror2.jpg/
Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it? Why did everything  dissappear off of the page once I added the contact us form code, is  there a setting I need to check off to allow active content or  something? Thanks!

An extra closing division where none is needed might make this happen.

I know DWCS4 will run fine under Windows 7, up until very recently, that is what I used daily.

  • Dreamweaver error messages left and right! HELP!

    Hello,
I am trying to open up some files I have created in Dreamweaver and now Dreamweaver is acting crazy on me, everything I do I get and error message I think I may need to re-install, but before I do that I would like a little advice.
Here is the secession of error messages I get when I try to open a file.
    1. While executing onLoad in FrameworkUpdater_onOpen.htm, a JavaScript error occured.
    2. The following translators were not loaded due to errors:
ASP.htm has configuration information that is invalid
PHP_MySQL.htm: has configuration information that is invalid
Server Model SSI.htm has configuration information that is invalid
(I am not using server technology these are straight forward HTML pages one uses Spry but the rest are real simple)
Then if I try to preview in browser there is no browser selected: however, they are listed in my preferences.
All my pages do still work and function when I open them up in a browser so the files are not corrupt. Has anyone had this problem, does anyone know how to fix this, do I need to re-install? Any help would be greatly appercited.
    Thanks in advance

  • Login from dreamweaver error

    Greetings,
I am continually having issues connecting Dreamweaver with my established Business Catalyst

    error message:
    An Error Occurred
An error occurred processing your last request.
Please go back and try again.
I also cannot FTP. Any assistance would be appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Colleen

When you use BC and DW you do not have to leave the software. All BC tools shall be available inside of DW. Some parts whoever use a embeded HTML page for connecting to BC.
The BC tab of dreamweaver use a local HTML file. Is it this tab that gives you a error? It shall not open in your browser.
If you inspect the site manager in DW this is how my config looks like. Please observe that if you use a old version of DW with BC plugin you might need to update the plugin to get the same "syntax".
    SFTP: foretagskontakt.worldsecuresystems.com
    USERID: foretagskontakt.worldsecuresystems.com/[email protected]/dw
    PASS:
This is the standard config made by DW. When I use other FTP-clients I use the regular "syntax" that you get in your email from BC.

  • Possible to remove the Dreamweaver error marker while coding

I find it annoying as hell how Dreamweaver finds a javascript error before I finish writing the line, and I've looked on google but could find anywhere to disable it, so I can code in peace.
    Any ideas?

It's not something that is disabled, it's something that is fixed.  See the following KB article:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405604.html
    I'd recommend starting with #4 and 12.

  • Dreamweaver error on inserting an XSLT repeat region

I am getting a Dreamweaver JavaScript error message when
attempting to insert an XSLT Repeat Region under certain
circumstances in Dreamweaver 8.0.2 for Windows. I have posted a
    full description on
    David
Powers's friends of ED forum, but I wanted to report it here as
    well for confirmation.
When creating a Repeat Region in an XSLT fragment, the
    following error message appears:
While executing objetTag in XSLT_ForEach.htm, the following
JavaScript error(s) occurred: At line 502 of the file "C:\Program
    Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
    8\Configuration\Objects\Server\serverObjectsCommon.js": Type Error:
    dwscripts.getBalancedSelection is not a function
    This error is entirely reproducible,
but not if any PHP file has been open at any point since the
    XSLT fragment was opened.
    To illustrate:
    0) If Dreamweaver is running, exit completely.
    1) Start Dreamweaver.
    2) Create a new XSLT fragment, or open an existing one.
    3) In design view, place a field from an XML source into your
fragment, select it, and then try to create an XSLT repeat region.
The error message described above appears. Dismiss the error
dialog, but keep the XSLT fragment document open.
    4) Create a new PHP document (or open an existing one), then
    close it.
    5) Back in your XSLT fragment, try again to create the repeat
    region. Now it works.
If you open the PHP document
before creating the XSLT fragment, you still get the error
-- even if you leave the PHP document open. If you open the PHP
    document
after you open the XSLT fragment, you do not get the error
-- even if you close the PHP document before you create the XSLT
    repeat region.
    It looks like
the key is to touch a PHP document at some point
after the XSLT fragment is opened. So that is the
workaround. My guess is that one of the included internal
JavaScript scripts is not being sourced until a PHP document is
opened, but this is probably not intended behavior.

    party. You
could also try it the other way round - disabling extensions
    one by one
until it works OK. If you have recently installed a new
    extension, that
may be the one to test first.
Another thing you can try is this:
You can try this to see if it solves your problem:
    Close Dreamweaver.
    Find C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
    8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
Delete the file (it's in a hidden folder, so you need to have
    enabled
the option to see hidden files and folders).
Restart DW. See if your problem has gone away.
    Thanks, David.
Actually, what I was looking for was a way to trace what
Dreamweaver is doing behind the scenes -- what scripts it is
loading, and what errors those scripts throw. I had already tried
uninstalling all my extensions and deleting my entire user
configuration directory (not just the WinFileCache file), to no
avail. I also tried running the "Repair" program from the Studio
    installation, but the problem persisted.
So I resorted to uninstalling and reinstalling Dreamweaver
from scratch from the original Studio 8 CD.
Amazingly, even before I applied the 8.0.2 (or 8.0.1) update or
installed any hotfixes or extensions, the same error message
    appeared.
Before reinstalling, I took care to delete my user
configuration directory (actually, I deleted the entire
    C:\Documents and Settings\{Username}\Application
    Settings\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8/ tree. I took care to
uninstall Dreamweaver 8 completely using the uninstall program, and
    I confirmed that the
    C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\ directory was
gone before reinstalling. In the outside chance that there was a
problem with my install CD itself, I even tried installing twice --
once from the install-image Studio 8 CD I downloaded from the
Macromedia Store after upgrading from MX 2004, and once from the
official Studio 8 CD I ordered by mail afterwards.
So it's not my installation, it's not the hotfix, and it's
not any of the extensions I've installed. It's a bona-fide bug.
(What I can't figure out is why David was not able to reproduce
    it.)
    Next?

  • MacPro and Dreamweaver error message

I recently got a Mac Pro.
I installed DMX2004 and got this error and then bought DW8
and still get the same error. So, I've had to go to my PC.
    Here's the error:
"The local root folder, BS web site, does not exist. Please
select a new local root folder by clicking the Manage Sties button"
So I go to the "edit" site section in manage sites, and
browse to find the root folder. DW8 likes it for a verrrry short
time and then shows me this message again. If I try to open a
folder, tells me it can't find the folder but it shows in my files.
It's also showing this identical message regarding the root
folder of a Soap Box Derby site as well as others.
Anyone know anything about this incompatibility between the
Mac Pro and the last two versions of Dreamweaver? Never had this
    problem on my G4.

    > I changed the file info on about five sites (deleting
    that
    > leading space on Mac Pro) and all seem to be able to
    find the root folder now.
there's three things to check in the site definitions that
    have folder
    paths-
    Local Info:
    Local Site Folder
default images folder, if using this option
    Site pane:
    Location of the site's "homepage"
If you missed one, dw will put up a dialog box like the one
    in your original
question that the path is wrong. The last one about the
    site's homepage
might not cause a warning till you do a sitewide link check
    or use the site
    map feature, not sure.
not sure, but this might also affect the paths to the various
    other
applications picked in Preferences-->File types and
    Editors
    good luck with it-
