Black frame added to my video when exporting...

I just knocked together a simple 3 minute video last night and used the share to vimeo option. For starters I don't like how this option doesn't offer to save the video locally too, and also doesn't really give you any progress updates once uploading is being done.
Anyways the footage is online and looks pretty good, however I noticed in one part there is a black screen for a frame.
I wondered if it could be my camera, so I've just checked the raw footage tonight, the original clip has no such problem.
I checked the project within FCPX and it doesn't show it there during live playback.
Finally i downloaded the full original version back off vimeo (see my earlier point about not getting a local copy!!) and checked that to see if it was perhaps vimeo's transcode that went wrong. Sadly the black frame glitch is present in the original uploaded file.
So yeah, source is fine, editor displays it fine, the stitched together movie has been given this black frame.
Not massively impressed, surely the exported output should be the main priority.
Has anyone else experienced any problems with the output from FCPX ?

how about if you just export to quicktime movie locally? Do you see the black frame then? You can also export to quicktime and select h264 as the output format, then you should be able to upload that file to vimeo. Extra step but the share to vimeo might be buggy.
Another thing to try is to delete all your render files (both event and project). Let things re-render and try the share to vimeo again.

  • I am having trouble keeping the quality of my video when exporting to my external drive.  I change the kind to "original" but when I view the video from the external drive once exported, the sound and picture are distorted.

I am having trouble keeping the quality of my video when exporting to my external hard drive.  I have tried to export from iphoto with changing kind to "original" but when I open the video from the external drive the quality is effected.  I have also tried copying the video to my desktop and then dragging and dropping onto the drive...same problem. Any suggestions?  I would like to save everything to my external drive so that I can delete all of iphoto library and then reimport to correct a few things.

The file sizes are identical.  In the finder I did a search for all .mov files.  Then when they came up, I went through them and named each one so that they would be easier to find.  I am a new mac user and am used to windows.  I realized later that I should not have done this....with a mac files should be named within iphoto app...not finder....When I went to open the videos in iphoto, it wouldn't allow me.  I had to go into finder, copy to desktop and reimport into iphoto.  Then the videos worked again.  However, I had the problem with the poor video quality when copied to external drive before that.  Actually the first problem I had was when I copied to ext drive...videos were copying as an image...so I learned that you have to change "kind" to original before exporting....then that problem was solved...now they are videos, not images but not of a great quality.  Skips, sound and images are not in sync...etc...

  • Adding sysdate to filename  when exporting to csv in Apex V3.0.1 using IE6

    Hi,
I have created an application item (AI_DTTIME), together with an application computation that fires on before-header that is set-up as follows:
    TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'DDMMYYYY HH24:MI') ||'.'
Within the report addtributes on a page under "Report Export", within the filename, I assigned &AI_DTTIME.
When I go to test it by clicking on the link label, it seems to assign a number to the filename, such as 40.csv. Each time I clink on the link label, the filename value simply increments to the next value, i.e 41.csv
Can anyone see what I may be doing wrong or how to apply the sysdate to a filename under "Report Export".
    Thanks.
    Tony.

    Hi Tony, Hi Andy
I have a similar functionality to achieve by adding sysdate of filename when exporting to csv, adding wthr this csv is in dev or prod,URL of this report and it is powered by xyz company
I have created an application item same as andy did and the application computation with computation item AI_DTTIME, computation point - Before Header, computation type - static assignment and computation - TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'DDMMYYYY HH24MI') ||'.'
After that in report-export filename i added the address of my application item i.e &AI_DTTIME
but when i am trying to export my report to csv the header is coming with " TO_CHAR(sysdate,'DDMMYYYY HH24MI')_' "
Can you suggest where i am wrong?

  • Black frames at the end of an exported file when converting from 60p to 24p

I have another export issue that I can't figure out.
I import footage I shot at 23.98fps (on a JVC HD100) using a Kona LH card at 59.94fps DVCPro HD, in which it has a 2:3 cadence. I need to make files that are actually 23.98p DVCProHD. Unfortunately, when I export in Final Cut from the 59.94 original, the new 23.98 file has all of the image, exported correctly, followed by a number of black frames such that the total number of frames in the exported file equals the number of frames in the original file. That is:
    If the original 59.94 file was 3s long, that is 60 * 3 = 180 frames. The exported 23.98 file also has 180 frames, but only 3s of image = 3 * 24 = 72 frames, followed by 180 - 72 = 108 frames = 4s 12frames of black.
How can I prevent this from happening, and end up with an exported file that is (e.g.) just the 3s of image, and not 7.5s of which 4.5s are black?
It's true that I can manually clip this black off, but I need to do many clips as a batch, and would really not have to change one clip at a time. It is also true that I can do a batch in compressor, and that this process does not suffer this problem -- that is, there is no extra black -- however, there is another problem: the original 59.94 DVCProHD files are actually 1280x720 with square pixels; the files exported from FCP via the KONA DVCProHD codec maintain this true HD proportion, but the ones exprted through compressor (which does not appear to support the KONA LH implementation of DVCProHD as an option) have the size 960x720 with anamorphic pixels, and I would rather keep the original size. Thus, I would rather export from fcp. If anyone has any insight into how I might resolve this....
    Thanks,
    Robert Schaller

Thanks. If I understand you correctly, it does seem to export correctly if I paste the 59.94 clip into a 23.98 sequence (you can't nest sequences that have different time bases) and export from there, and it doesn't even have to specify square pixels, etc.: the AJA codec implementation seems to take care of that. There is no longer any extra black, so, per file, that gives the right result.
That, however, is only one part of the problem, though a significant part. Next is, I really would like to do this as a batch process, as I tend to have many clips to do at one time. As soon as I try any kind of batch export, I end up with one of two problems:
    1) if I try to batch export from fcp, I'm back to having extra black frames, or
    2) if I try to batch export with compressor, I get 960x720 files.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to get the right files in a batch, that would be the next step. Is fcp scriptable? And, if so, can you write a script that takes a clip, pastes it into a blank 23.98 DVCPro timeline, sets the correct in and out points (i.e, in at the beginning and out 1 before the end), exports it with a specified codec and time base, with a name based on the source clip, and then repeats that as needed?
    Thanks for any input --

  • Transparent video when exported

I am having a problem with a video I have been curently working on. I have already keyed it using keylight 1.2 and have exported it (lossless with alpha) to Premiere Pro. While previewing the video there is no visible bleed of the colors even when zoomed in. Once the video is exported to mpeg4 my black shirt allows background colors to bleed through at random intervals. I tryed rekeying multipule times with no effect and I do not beleive it was the green screen itself because I followed all greenscreen procedure (light wall, light subject, distance from wall. Do I need to rotoscope the shirt? Am I exporting it wrong? Any help would be much appreciated. If pictures are needed please ask.

  • Digital noise flashes in video when exporting a Quicktime.

FCP 6.06 - When exporting an SD QT for use in IDVD, I end up with flashes of multicolor video noise that is one or two frames long. Happened most recently four times in a thirty minute video. Source video is a variety of SD formats, Mini DV and DV/DVCPro. Anyone else see it or know who to fix it?

They are on the export. When I export again, they are in different places. Usually I can get a clean export after two or three tries if I bring the QT in and replace the glitches with the original timeline. Not an optimal fix I know. I have tried it with two different macs so the problem must be in the external drives or the cables as you suggest. This is an ongoing, years long contract and the media is spread over 5 drives.
I guess my next move would be to figure out if the glitched scenes all come from one specific drive or cable chain. Make sense?
Or I could spend money and consolidate all of the footage on one new modern Firewire 800 drive to go with my new Mac. Business doesn't quite allow too many expenditures right now unfortunately.

  • Adding zeros to filenames when exporting in Lightroom "Filename-001" "Fliename-002" etc?

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to add zeros before numbers when exporting files eg: "Filename-001" "Fliename-002" etc? The default setting is "Filename-1" "Filename-2" ect. The reason I want to have zeros in the number sequence is that certain software will display files in the wrong numerical sequence eg: "Filename-1" "Filename-10" Filename-11" etc and then "Filename-2" after "Filename-19". If zeros are added the files will always be displayed in the correct sequence "Filename-001" "Filename-002"... "Filename-009" "Filename-010" "Filename-011" etc.

Just customize the filename using the template editor, and use the Sequence token set to the number of leading zeroes you want, as shown.

  • How to keep audio synchronized with video when exporting?

I have a few .mp4 source files that I'd like to combine into a single file.  I've done the editing and exported.  When played, the audio is misaligned to the video.  As a test, I've tried exporting a single clip rather than joining a few and the same thing happens.  I end up with audio that is misaligned to the video after export even though they are perfectly synched in the source video.  As another test I've tried exporting a single clip to .mpeg rather than .mp4 and the audio stays perfectly synched with the video.  It seems the misalignment occurs whenever I export to .mp4.  I'm obviously missing a fundemental concept here.  Can anyone shed some light on it for me?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rafeek,
One solution is to set the column width after manually or programmatically refresh the PivotTable, for example:
Private Sub Worksheet_PivotTableUpdate(ByVal Target As PivotTable)
    Dim ws As Worksheet
    Set ws = Application.ActiveWorkbook.ActiveSheet
    ws.Columns("A").ColumnWidth = 10
    End Sub
Another option is to set the column width, then protect the columns from been updated by the user, before refreshing the PivotTable, unprotect the worksheet. For example:
    Public Sub LockColumnA()
    Dim ws As Worksheet
    Set ws = Application.ActiveWorkbook.ActiveSheet
    ws.Columns("A").ColumnWidth = 10
    ws.Columns("A").Locked = True
    ws.Protect "123"
    End Sub
    Public Sub UnprotectWorksheet()
    Dim ws As Worksheet
    Set ws = Application.ActiveWorkbook.ActiveSheet
    ws.Unprotect ("123")
    End Sub

  • Odd frames added to start of audio export from LPX when imported into FCPX

Running into a weird issue exporting audio out of Logic Pro (10.0.6) for import into FCPX (10.1.1) - Logic is introducing extra frames (varies between 2 to 4 frames) at the front of exported audio, becomes detectable when imported back into FCPX.
I do a lot of work where I sync music performances on camera that are recorded in audio and MIDI, and have to deliver remixed audio with picture AND a .MID file that all sync. Workflow used to be shoot video on a C100 and another DSLR with either an audio feed or live mic patched to the camera, while Logic recorded the MIDI performance and any ambient audio via separate mics and pres. Shoot always had some kind of "slated" start marker on camera, in camera audio, and in Logic. Camera edits were edited in FCPX, exported as a Quicktime with the "slate" for a start marker, then audio and MIDI handled in Logic.
This always used to work thru to last fall, when we took a hiatus.
Upon resuming some final shooting in the last two weeks, our audio edits are always running 2-4 frames behind FCPX. It's a consistent offset for an entire export (so there's no drift, no jitter within the files - but the slate tones might be 2 frames and 17 subframes behind and the whole audio file runs behind.) Another export might be 3 frames 2 subframes behind. Always kind of random in the amount of drift - but never more than 4 frames.
Tried a test where I imported just the camera audio in Logic as an extracted audio track, then exported same audio file back to the Quicktime but left the original audio in the video - Logic's exported audio ran behind sync from the original.
Obviously, I'm paying attention to frame rates, sample rates, etc.
As a test, I exported an XML out of FCPX, imported it into Logic, performed some edits, and used the File>Export>Project to FinalCut Pro XML - so everything matched across the board. Opened the export in FCPX - audio ran behind sync again.
If it was just audio I was concerned about, I'd just line it up in FCPX and call it done - but my exported MIDI file NEEDS to be in sync with the picture AND the audio... and wasting time calculating the Logic offset error is a huge detour from getting this work done quickly.
I thought maybe there could be a plug-in issue, but it happened even in the extracted audio from the Quicktime with no plug-ins in any of the signal chains.
    Any ideas?

    Well… here's a clunky workaround.
It's either a problem with the exported FCPX-XML or the way Logic Pro X interprets the XML.
The simple test here was to put a clip in the FCPX timeline and export it as an AIFF and then export an XML too.
Import the XML into Logic, then import the AIFF as a new track. By default the Logic project is 120BPM. By analyzing the xml-based track and the aiff track, the xml track has an added 164 ticks to the beginning of the referenced video-audio.
Move the playhead to zero, zoom in to the timeline and drag the tick field to 164 then blade all your tracks, then click/drag the bladed tracks to zero. Voila!
It seems to only affect the first audio file. So for example, when I have 10 video clips in my FCPX timeline, only the first audio clip has the added 164 ticks.
Now on to the next challenge…
It's not enough to just de-compound your clips because L and J cuts get referenced to the VIDEO, not the audio underneath.
So… In FCPX you MUST select each clip and choose Break Apart Clip Items from the Clip Menu. Perhaps this is old news but thought I'd mention it here in case others were having problems.
Let's hope Apple steps up their xml game and realizes that when I choose export XML-Audio from the xml popup menu… I want it to send the duration of the audio, not the duration of the attached video.
Ergh! Well… as my friends say… "We're still in the stone age with all this technology."
    Happy editing all!

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 - Black flickering lines during playback and when exporting video

I am fairly new to Premiere and have recently started using creative cloud on my new MacBook Pro retina - 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - OSX Version 10.9.4
I shot a music video using my friends camera and all the shots were absolutely fine, I dropped them into Premiere and started editing the video together.
Some of the clips are perfectly fine during playback, although sometimes my playback stutters a little, but some of the clips have strange horizontal lines that flash through them when I watch it back. I have only used basic things such as the highlight/shadow and sharpen tools in Premiere. I thought that it maybe fine once I exported the video but when I open up the exported file on my desktop in Quicktime the little black flashes/glitches are still there in some of the shots.
Here is a screenshot you can see a line halfway between the top of my head and the top of the screen, when you watch the video there are lots of these flashing about.
Could this be something that I have set up wrong?
    CPU/GPU related?
    Thanks,

  • IMovie 08 cutting off the end of my video when exporting

First off, I'm running 10.5.3, iMovie 7.1.2, iDVD 7.0.2 on a MB Pro. I have a 256mg nVidia video card, 4gigs of RAM and about 55Gigs of space left on my hard drive. The movie is about 5-9gigs in size-I made sure everything was updated before I started. I created a 45 min movie in iMovie and exported it via-"export using QuickTime." Under "options->settings" I chose Apple Intermediate Codec (frame rate current, compressor-other) with the default settings for AIC. It takes about 35 minutes to process. I import the movie into iDVD via drag-and-drop where I want the movie to go in the menu. All the menu links, music and buttons work. I test the movie and its flawless up until the very end where I have the credits. It plays all the credits except the second to last one. The one that failing is a scrolling credit that lasts the maximum 60 seconds and the last credit/frame of the video is a non-scrolling screen that lasts for 6 seconds. This 6 second credit/final frame is fine. The whole movie is exactly 45:56sec. What happens is that the movie will play through all the credits and once it gets to flawed one, instead of scrolling words it scrolls a solid white block up the screen where all the words should be. I've tried the whole share/import to iDVD twice and actually let it burn to a disc once. Same problems. I have tried exporting to the media browser as well, same problem. The video has the issue once it's exported (so the problem is not in iDVD 08). ANY tips or ideas would be welcome. Sorry if there is a ton of useless info, not sure what's relevant and what isn't. Can't find anything specific to my issue in other posts.
(I posted this in iDVD before I figured out that the problem was with iMovie and not iDVD)
    THANK YOU!!!
    Luke

    Ditto white screen problem.
I am using iMovie 08 for a 23 minute photo-music slideshow for more control over placement and my music.
The final scrolling credits are 60 seconds long over a photo that is 59 seconds long. I have a wipe right and a new photo and the credits/music end. Everything plays well in imovie, but on the DVD i burn with iDVD, there is a white screen where the credits should be.
Applecare suggested changing to another photo. I did. No change, another DVD coaster. Applecare suggested changing the jpg photo to tiff. I did, no change, another DVD coaster.
I exported again in Media Browser, different name, but got the same white screen.
The 5 other titles in the project are fine in iDVD. When I play it on my TV, it looks fantastic, except for that last white screen and no credits.
    Any suggestions?

  • After rotobrush, how to make background picture appear in the video when exporting it to PremierePro

I seem to have problems saving/using it with premiere pro. it's a 10 second video of myself with 3 pics: 2 that I put in front of the video and one as a background. In after effects, in the bottom left corner box, the 2 pics are above the video file and the background picture is below it. Still in after effects, the background pic is there behind me and the 2 other pictures are in front of my video which is where everything should be, great. When i save it, then export it to premiere pro, the 2 pics in front are there but not the background pic, the background is just my full video as if I didn't rotobrush it.  Help??
Also, how can i export the project as a file in Avi, mpeg, mp4...?
    Thanks in advance

Hello Mylenium, i do apologize about my ambiguous question. I'm starting to learn how to use it and in some way, i didn't even know what i was talking about myself. But thanks to your help, i now got it.
"When you export an After Effects project as an Adobe Premiere Pro project, Adobe Premiere Pro uses the settings from the first composition in the After Effects project for all subsequent sequences. Keyframes, effects, and other properties are converted in the same way as when you paste an After Effects layer into an Adobe Premiere Pro sequence."
so as it says above, it only uses the initial video. What i did was only render using the rotobrush and i didn't "render queue" the whole project afterwards simply because i didn't know i had to do that. I thought rendering it from rotobrushing it and adding the background effects would be enough.
Again, thank you. and i also learned how to save it in different format, since AVI outputs a huge file size.

  • Tearing of video when exporting from FCE?

Someone was kind enough to answer this question a few months back ... unfortunately I forgot the answer. When I'm exporting a project I edited on Final Cut Express I get some (what looks to be) tearing of the video. I remember the person that answered my question (the last time) said something about de-interlace the clips where I used slow-motion or still frames.
    Can anyone please help?
    Thanks!

Sorry ... Didn't know I could search my old questions on here. Thanks anyway.

  • Blurred video when exporting

    Clips are:
    720x480
    4:3  .9091 pixel aspect ratio
    24fps
    progressive
    uncompressed AVIs
    Project settings:
    720x480
    4:3  .9091 pixel aspect ratio
    23.976fps
    progressive
I'm trying to just export this project out as an AVI, even uncompressed, so that is looks just like it does in the project, but I keep getting a blur any time there is motion.  I've exported it out before and it worked fine, but using the same settings, it's suddenly giving me the results in the image I attached to this post.
I've tired exporting as a 720x480, 23.976 progressive uncompressed AVI, Lagarith Lossless AVI, and also the same settings as an h.264 mp4 file and I'm getting the same results every time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm supposed to have this to the client tomorrow.

    Hmm.
Perhaps an Interpret Footage action is needed here.  Maybe Premiere isn't reading the clips actual frame rate correctly?
Not sure.  I checked a bunch of the clips and it shows the framerate to be 24.0000.
I ended up creating a new sequence and set the timebase to 24fps rather than 23.976 (which is what it's been since I began working on this project back in July, so why it's screwing up now I have no idea).
I copied everything from the 23.976 timeline and pasted it into the new 24fps timline.  I then exported using Lagarith at 24fps.  The exported video looked correct, no blurring.  But what I did run into was that every spot in the timeline that had a transition was now screwed up.  Instead of doing a smooth crossfade, it instead faded to black and then suddenly cut to the next clip.  There are also now tiny gaps between every clip (most of which don't cause a problem, but a few cause 1 frame of black).
I assume this problem has come about because of the difference in framerate between 23.976 and 24.  Anyway, I'll have to go back through the entire project and fix all those little problems, but I think the blurriness is gone now.  As to what caused the problem to start in the first place, I still have no idea.
    It's late.  I'm tired.

  • Having problems with audio and video when exporting to quicktime

I've exported a couple of keynote presentations to Quicktime and uploaded to youtube with no problems. I've now added a motion background in my intro, which looks great in keynote, but, it would appear that it causes problems. The mov file does play the animation, but, not as it was recorded, the audio then becomes out of sync and the advance on slides is all over the place with some not appearing. Is this a common problem? I am exporting at best quality and 1280 x 720, leaving all other settings as preset. I suspect that if I drop the background altogether it will work, but, it looks so great in keynote that'd be a shame. Any tips?

I'm confused with the aspect ratio when I crop them i know I have to lock the aspect but should I keep it on Original? Also i'm wondering when it comes to export them what size should I be placing if I want to print all sizes.
The crop aspect lock only comes into play while you are actively resizing the crop boundary. LR always works in a freehand manner, except that if the ratio is locked, adjusting the crop frame is allowed to alter its size and location and angle - but not its shape. If the ratio is not locked, you will be changing the crop shape freely if/when you drag the corner or edge handles around. The rest of the time, the lock makes no difference; and it is just as possible BTW to lock a random freehand aspect ratio, as it is to lock one of the standard preset ones.
If you are uploading an exported copy for printing, you could simply upload a JPG made at the original resolution (as cropped for composition and angle) - that is, unchecking the whole resizing section of the Export dialog - and give the printer instructions as to how large the various prints are to be. Or I suppose, you could resize to the largest of the sizes that you require, but you will then need to negotiate a pixels-per-inch "resolution" setting that will be appropriate - since, when resizing to a page size, this figure governs the pixel content of the file produced.
I would suggest that in the case of an export without resizing, where a generous quantity of pixels are included for the sorts of page sizes mentioned, you will likely not see any discernible printed benefit from setting the highest JPG quality setting for your export, but will be fine with around quality 6 to 8 - which brings the file sizes down significantly. Most often, printing services will presume that you have selected sRGB colourspace for your export, unless something different has been pre-agreed.
