Blackberry-tablet.xml

Hi,
I successfully repackaged my Android apk using the Online packageing tool i.e. no errors.
My application was rejected by the App World team because the bar file did not have the blackberry-tablet.xml and 86x86 icon.
Where in the bar file do I need to add both? In the root, /android or /meta-inf?
Many thanks.

Hello socergoddess9,
It sounds like you've tried a couple quick fixes and it isn't working. In your case, I would definitely encourage you to bring it by the Geek Squad counter at any Best Buy location. Our agents should be able to take a look and go over repair or replacement options with you so we can get you back into a working tablet.
Be sure to have your receipt with you if you can.
Cheers,

  • Packaging a .bar file for the BlackBerry Tablet (Playbook) Simulator Using Command Line.

Hi there, I've been trying to deploy one of my AIR apps on the BlackBerry Tablet (PlayBook) Simulator and and have run into a problem packaging the .bar file using the command line.  I started this off by reading the article at:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/devices/articles/blackberry_playbook_battery.html
I followed some of the steps there, but found this article on how to package my files using a command line more helpful (the Adobe article doesn't even explain how to package the .bar file using the command line):
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Tablet-OS-SDK-for-Adobe-AIR/Compile-and-Debug-witho ut-Flash-Builder-Using-a-Command-Line/ta-p/628675
Everything was going great until I went to compile my application and received the following error:

Has anyone run into this issue when trying to package a .bar file for the BlackBerry Tablet (Playbook) Simulator?  I've tried using a SWF published in CS5 and CS4.

Just thought I'd reply to my own post, in case someone else runs into this problem.  Make sure you have the latest and greatest versions of the JDK and JRE installed on your system, in addition to the requirements listed in BlackBerry's list of installs:

  • PDFs with password security will not open on Blackberry tablet

I'm  a designer, pretty clued with everything Mac based. I put password security on PDFs sent out to clients to restrict editing, theft of images, maps, high resolution printing etc.
However, they won't open on Blackberry tablets, if they do, they show as blank, grey pages. The same PDFs without secuity will open. Client tells me he is using up to date Adobe Reader. To be clear, I do not create a password requirement for opening the PDFs, just to restrict editing etc.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I've had this same exact problem quite often ever since the update to version 7.6.2.9 on Windows Vista Home Premium. The only solution I have found is to go into Task Manager and find the two I-Tunes processes that are running and END those two processes. I don't know what other problems doing this could cause and it is VERY annoying! It might be a good idea to reboot after fixing it. I hope this gets fixed soon.

Thanks for your solution but in mine it saying,There are no previous versions found.
I have used almost 6 recovery software paid and free and didn't intstalled on that drive where my original files are located so that it don't get overwritten.
All of them are able to recover some files like
    .project
    public/bin-debug folder
    .settings folder
But my .php files i located in web root folder. Those file by i connect data/services. I mean PHP project files are deleted.
I had following structure of files
<Web root > php scritps to connect data\services\UserService.php                  (this file)
<Web root > php scritps to connect data\services\EmployeeService.php          (this file)
<Web root > php scritps to connect data\test\test.php                                    (this file)
<Web root > php scritps to connect data\Imp files to connect data using PHP and MySql.txt (this file)
Files marked by "this files "  are  lost and not found by any recovery software.
I need those php and txt files specifically.

I'm in a quandary.  I've had a nook color to use for a while, and I've had a blackberry tablet offered me.  Why should I consider an iPad?

Who said you need to consider an iPad?
If the nook and Blackberry tablet suit your needs (which you haven't mentioned) stick with them.
One of the main advantages of the iPad is the amount of apps and media available for them. Also the huge support from third-party accessory providers.
But unless we know what you're using these devices for, we can't really say why an iPad might be worth considering.

  • My Blackberry Tablet was forced to upgrade and lost everythin

    Has this happened to anyone?
I have been using the Blackberry Playbook for 3 months now and have setup everything and synced it to the desktop before. Just recently, I plugged it into the computer to sync pictures and such but it could not connect but asked to upgrade (note, a few weeks ago I had already updated the OS). After the update, it reset and asked to setup the Playbook as if I had just bought it. After setting it up again all of my videos, pictures, music, contacts, and applications were gone!! There seems to be no way for me to recover.
Also, I made sure that the Playbook did not shut down or get disconnected from the computer or the network while the upgrade was in progress.
I don't think that I will continue to use the Playbook at the risk of losing everything again. I had my baby's first crawl and many other important memories on there.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Knottyrope - My problem was:  I WAS trying to back up the playbook!  It gave me an "backup error" message and when I followed the instructions (although the PB was already turned off I simply turned it back on) it automatically updated without any message indicating it would do so.
My complaint is that I had no warning of any sort - it did not advise me that if I continued it would update and I could possibly lose files.  I have had a warning like this on many other programs but not this time for my PB.  I would have not continued and would have cancelled the update.
I would have sought out a professional to get my pictures off before proceeding with any kind of an update.  As it is, I am probably going to seek the help of a company in the US (I'm in Canada - right in the city RIM is) to see if they can restore anything; that's how important these pictures are to me.
If we had proceeded after being warned I would say you have the right to tell us we're pathetic.  But I'm sorry - I think we have every right to complain about how this updated.  I still can't believe something so simple went unchecked by a major company such as RIM.

  • Silverlight For Blackberry Tablet Playbook? Where is it?

I can say I am very unhappy about this matter, not to mention I purchased this because people were bragging about this OS as if it had everything that the business world would offer now, i'm finding out that Blackberry does not even offer a fix or anything compatible for users to get this is insane how can you call yourself a businesss platform and not have silverlight which 70% of business's in the web business are using this, to my knowledge Windows offers about everything that a business person would want why  is this an issue, I know one thing I just got the Playbook and I thought this was no issue, if I am not getting a response as to why I have to speak on a forum instead you guys should have been fixed this problem.
Make a Silverlight fix or app that will allow people to run on there systems for Blackberry users, we should not have to beg for service, if I see that blackberry is not to to standards, then I am going to resell my system and get a regular laptop with Windows and deal with this myself, in such away.
Blackberry is about to end up real Black.

Silverlight is a proprietary Microsoft product, not a RIM product. It's not available on any modern mobile platform, even in Windows 8 Metro, and the future of the Silverlight plugin is uncertain at best. Development of Moonlight, the Mac/Linux port has even stopped.

  • SYNC PHOTOS FROM BLACKBERRY TABLET TO LAPTOP

Hi Everyone.. I installed the software that sync files from my tablet to laptop. When i connacted, it asked me to enter a password to use the software.. What password do I have to enter it?!  It asks for a device password? What is it? Sorry I'm only getting use to my new tablet.. Thanks!

The best way I find for transferring photos and music is to do it through Windows Explorer. I have XP Pro and when I go into Explorer it shows the PlayBook as a Drive. When I click on Media, it opens and shows all the media directories. All your PlayBook pictures are in the camera directory. You just drag them from the PlayBook to a directory on your computer. I think it is faster and safer.
When you connect via Desktop Manager you have to be careful. Sometimes the DM will tell you an upgrade is available and before you know what is going on, it is updating the OS resulting in the loss of all your pictures and music as well as all other files. So be very careful when using it. This is why I prefer using the drag method to move my media.

  • Help! Blackberry Tablet no wifi, unable to update OS

Having serious problems with the playbook
first yesterday i discovered it could not see any wifi networks, tried 3 different ones, reset, hard reset etc
    wifi just not working
tried to do an OS update, it downloads the entire update, extracts it all then says "there was an error updating your software"
so then i did a security wipe, tried the update again through desktop manager, still same error!
so now i am stuck with a pb that is not updateable, and i cannot get past the setup screen because it wont see any wifi networks
    what can i do !?!

Oh, you're asking if the actual Playbook is on a recall list. I thought you were referring to the OS platform, which was what you posted in the same post. I was confused about what you're asking about.
Why is yours not on the recall list (May 2011)? Because you didn't buy it at Staples, and only the 1,000 devices sold through Staples in early May were recalled. See the article here:  http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/14/rim-recalls-at-least-900-faulty-blackberry-playbooks-here-are-t/
Is your USB cable connected DIRECT to a main rear USB port on your PC... not a USB hub or front PC port.

  • Can I bridge an android smartphone with my blackberry tablet rather than a blackberry device?

My employer is requiring me to move from a blackberry Storm to a different smartphone. I have a choice between an android and an iPhone, and would,do prefer the android Can it be paired to the playbook like the Storm currently is, and if so, how?

You can't bridge it like your Storm, but many Androids let you turn them into wifi hotspots so you can at least access the net from your PB. You may want to check your data plan though. Most handsets can also function as a modem via bluetooth. Finally, for a stopgap alternative to Bridge Files, there are Android apps that are mini webservers so you can get  access to the files on your handset from your PB's browser. For that to work you'd need a wifi hotspot.
In short, while you can find Android solutions to do most of the Bridge functions, none are as seamless or integrated as Bridge.

    Sincerely yours,
    MARITES R. PENSOTES

Well you seem to have a problem with a running process indeed.
As far as I know it should not be related to a virus as I don't think there are really "viruses" on this platform.
Does this "black screen" appear after a precise operation or in which circumstances exactly?

  • Blackberry Tablet Connect to Computer

My Blackberry Desktop Software V. 6.1 gives me the msg that it doesn't support Bluetooth connections with my Playbook. The Blackberry website says that 6.1 will support Playbook.  I have downloaded all the latest software for Playbook and computer, device driver is installed, and Bluetooth settings are set.  WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

Are you using the cable or trying to connect to the desktop manager through Bluetooth?
What are you trying to do with bluetooth as not all features are supported through bluetooth.
