I am not able to transfer any files from the nokia phone to playbook or vice versa using blue tooth,
Please  help me to do same,
Is this option is available with bb playbook
or just we can do the internet tethering with Bluetooth ?

The limitations of the PlayBook are simply unbelievable. Bluetooth file transfer is something I'm used to having and using since the first mobile phone I got, nearly 10 years ago. I guess this is one more "security feature" of the PlayBook. No brains, no tumors, as they say.
    Fail.

  • Blackberry Curve 8520 - Using Blackberry Desktop to xfer files from one blackberry to another

    Help Please!!!
Its it possible to use the blackberry desktop to xfer files, games, etc to another blackberry smart phone. I'm not to good on using the desktop software & often get confused about using the backup or importing functions!!
    Any advice would be welcome!!!!

    Yes, it's possible.
First, you need to do a backup of the data you wish to transfer.  To do this, plug your phone in to BlackBerry Desktop Software and click Device at the top of the software then click Backup.  Once the backup file is on your PC, plug another phone in to BDS and this time click Device then Restore.  As long as the backup file is compatible with the new phone you plugged in (i.e. you're not trying to restore data from a PlayBook to a Curve, etc.), it will transfer.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Opening 3gp files sent from blackberry to blackberry.

First off, I'm new to the board, so HI ALL. But this question is the reason why I joined. Seems like the knowledge is out there I just need to ask.
I just upgrade my curve 8310 as well as my wife's to OS 4.5. I love it. I love shooting videos with it as well. Here is my problem. I can attach a video to my att blackberry email, my gmail, or try to send MMS and everything is fine. Now when my wife gets it on her phone, and clicks to open the file, all it says is "your device is not compatible with this type of file" (*or something close to that).
How do I get this to work? I would like not to route my vids through a third party and then to my wife. I want to be able to send to her (and other bb owners) and them be able to view it.
Wht gives? How can both of our phones take the same type of video file type, but neither one of our phones play the video when sent?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Iphone 4 with ios 5 and 6 with intermittent wifi.  Sometimes I can find my networks but they don't stay and sometimes my phone cannot scan for networks

I never had a problem with ios 4.  I add an issue with my last iphone 4, my fault.  Apple sent me a new phone with ios 5.  Worked great for a couple of weeks.  Then my wifi started dropping.  Not a huge deal.  Picked it up again.  Then it happened more frequently and the wifi dropped.  Not happy.  Then it stopped locating my home router completely.  "Could not scan for networks".  Awesome.  So I updated to ios 6.  WORSE.  Wifi greyed out.  So I found a solution (thank you) from someone on the forum to stop all running programs (home menu twice and hit x to programs on there) and shut phone off for 5 minutes.  No more grey-out wifi, but scanning still didn't work.  But then occasionally it did.  Weird.  I've tried all the 'creative' suggestions like resetting networks/ phone, router, etc.  This is not a problem with just a few phones.  I have seen several posts from people who are having this same problem.  Some say it's software; some say hardware.  I don't know what to think.  Now it's back to 'could not scan for networks'.  I've tried to change settings on my iphone and router.  I don't know how to reset my router to factory settings (Cisco), but am working on that.  Seriously though... I shouldn't have to jump through hoops here.  Apple should be bending over backwards to resolve this annoying issue.  Yet.. no word from Apple.  No timeline for this fix.  I have run the gamuet (sp?) on fixes for all kinds of wifi issues.  I feel like I've had them all short of water damage (absolutely no water has touched my phone through my cage-like case).  So.  On Monday... I may have to take my phone in to an Apple store to see if I can get a replacement.  Software/hardware/who cares.  I shouldn't have to search on here for a solution.  The answer SHOULD be easy and resolved.  I'm thoroughly annoyed.

Verify that the user names and passwords are entered correctly.
Restoring from backup does not seem to always restore the password for email accounts.

  • Wifi-Direct in Adobe Air??

    Hi ,
I have recently emarked on building a multiplayer game for my third year degree project.
I have built some little air apps already but thought it would be cool to try out some mutliplayer aspect.
    I was wondering if:
    a) Air supports multiplayer [local p2p/adhoc]
    b) if Air supports wi-fi direct.
Wifi direct == "Wi-Fi Direct device connections can happen anywhere, anytime - even when you don't have access to a Wi-Fi network.  Your Wi-Fi Direct device will signal to other devices in the area that it can make a connection.  You can view available devices and ask them to connect, or you might receive an invitation to connect to another Wi-Fi Direct device.  When two or more Wi-Fi Direct-certified devices connect directly, they have formed a Wi-Fi Direct Group, using Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ and the latest Wi-Fi security. Now you can get started doing all the exciting things that Wi-Fi Direct enables!" ... wifi alliance

I try to create a wifi connection to use local p2p
But it was not possible to connect to the other device via connection:
To find out more, I checked the networkInfo:
    ni = NetworkInfo.networkInfo;
    ni.addEventListener(Event.NETWORK_CHANGE,checkNetwork);
    function checkNetwork(evt:Event):void
    var ainterfaces:Vector.<NetworkInterface> = networkInfo.findInterfaces();
If I activate Wifi-Direct, actionscript dispatch an change event, but with the result that WIFI is deaktivated. No event will be fired after creating a wifi-direct connection. So I think it is not possible to use that feature. Would be a cool feature Request.

  • Is ios 5 "wifi direct" compatible?

I'm trying to use "wifi direct" (supposedly a universal connection standard) to connect my iphone 4 ios 5 to sony bravia TV . After connection it shows up on the tv as an unsupported device. Is this correct or have I done something wrong?

From a Wiki on the subject:
Soft AP's can be as simple or as complex as the role requires. A digital picture frame might provide only the most basic services needed to allow digital cameras to connect and upload images. A smart phone that allows data tethering might run a more complex soft AP that adds the ability to bridge to the Internet. The standard also includes WPA2 security and features to control access within corporate networks.[3]Wi-Fi Direct-certified devices can connect one-to-one or one-to-many and not all connected products need to be Wi-Fi Direct-certified. One Wi-Fi Direct enabled device can connect to legacy Wi-Fi certified devices.
That's why I was asking. Not because I was too stupid to read a list. As anyone who has used computers for any length of time knows, just because something isn't "certified" doesn't necessarily mean it isn't compatible.
Thank you for all of your prompt answers. Just wondering, Are you this condescending to everyone or just me in particular?

I have a new iMac. I have set up a user page for myself, for my wife and an administrator page. My question is my wife needs files from my user page transferred to her page. What's the easiest way?

I've done this by dragging files from my user page to her drop box. In Finder, drag the required files and hover over the hard disc icon in the navigation bar on the left. As you hover, it will open another finder window showing the contents. Work your way down these windows into <Her username | Public | Dropbox>. Drop the files into the dropbox. She can then retrieve them from her user page.
    Good luck,
    Stephen

  • A client has sent me an indesign file I cannot open. She says she has updated to Indesign CC 2014. I am a CC member and fully updated my own software but cannot open the file she has sent me, not even if she saves as an IDML, how do I resolve the problem?

There are a few things to try.
First, if this file came to you vial email attachment, it could have been corrupted. Ask her to zip the file and send it again. That sometimes helps.
I suppose there's a chance that the file is already zipped, so see if that's the case and unzip it if so.
If the file name doesn't end with .indd, add it and see if that helps.
If you are double-clicking, try File>Open from within InDesign.
Last (and I know this sounds like a joke, but I've seen it many times), sometimes people attach a Mac Alias or Windows Shortcut instead of the actual file. What is the file size? If it's really small, that might be the reason.
Also, no offense intended if some of this sounds like stuff you have already tried. I don't know what you know, so I'm just spit-balling.

  • FLV file don't show on iPhones, iPads, etc.

I'm on a iMac with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 processor running 10.6.8. I build websites using Dreamweaver CS4 and all my media files are FLV files. I've noticed that none of the media shows on a iPhone, iPad, etc. Is there a media file format that I can use that works for browsers and will show on iPhones, iPod, etc.? I also noticed that SWF file don't show either. Any direction would be helpful.

Those are Flash content types. Flash doesn't exist on iOS, and won't exist on any future mobile platforms, according to Adobe.

  • Blackberry 9300 Wifi

I’m thinking about buying a Blackberry Curve 9300. But I don’t plan on ever having any credit through my carrier (Telstra).
Will I still be able to use the WIfi and GPS functions without any credit? I heard something about a Blackberry data plan but I don’t know what that is, and don't plan on paying for that either.
The Specs also mention in the LAN section “UMA (Carrier dependant”. What is UMA and does it affect the Wifi, is it connected or an independent of the Wifi feature?
    Thank you

Yes you can connect to WIFI, but without the blackberry data plan, some stuff will not work. You can make calls and surf the web. If you call the carrier, they can explain in more detail about what will and what won't work.

another option is to use the Belkin FM transmitters that are often used for iPods. i had one before, the Tunecast 2 and it worked pretty good and made awesome beeping sounds reminiscent of the taxi cab meter sounds . they're pretty reliable and good quality, and always an option if you cannot purchase the official Nokia accessory in your country.

  • WiFi Direct to Officejet or connect to Internet, but not both

My PC is running Windows 7 Professional. I have  HP 7610 that includes the WiFi Direct feature allowing for a PC or other device to establish a WiFi connection to the printer without using a router. Pretty nice feature, however, the software setup establishes a separate "network" for the PC-to-printer connection from that used to connect to the Internet. So, in order to print I have to disconnect from the Internet and connect to the printer's network connection, then reverse that when done. It's akin to virtually plugging and unplugging phone lines!
I have attempted using Win 7's Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter via CMD line instructions, see  http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/897-how-to-set-up-virtual-wifi-in-windows-7, and though that does enable the virtual WiFi connector and create a secure network connection to the printer, it does not seem to allow me to access the Internet and use the printer at the same time.
Any ideas, or am I stuck until a router enters the fray?

    This will work for you.
Connect wireless printer anywhere, convert from wired, bypass failed radio, add WPA2 security.
