Blank Spaces in TDMS file Properties

hi,
I want to re write the property  (in labview )" Storage date/time  "   with the actual value(datetime)
but what does diadem expect the property name to be  as    it doent accept  blank spaces  etc (converts everything to "_"
is there any trick for this  how to insert  the propertyname.
names without  blank r not an issue

Hi aparab,
Check out this white paper that talks about this property and lots of other points regarding writing TDMS files with LabVIEW that work well with DIAdem and the DataFinder.

  • Scaling TDMS files

    Hi,
    Has anybody got a good example VI for scaling TDMS files. I've capured data using the VI attached and I want to scale this data to a new file using scaling slope and intercept derived from a calibration VI. I thought this would be straight forward but when I followed the example NI provide it does not change anything but the scaling information writen to the TDMS file properties. The data remains the same.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    I've attached the signal conditioning VI that tries to scale the data from the 'Raw Data' group of the 'Raw Data' file to a 'Scaled Raw Data' group in a new 'Filtered Data' TDMS file. For some reason it saves a 'Raw Data' group in the new 'Filtered Data' file, that shows the new scale in the properties but the values have not been changed from the source 'Raw Data' file. I know that's a bit of a tongue twister, but I've attached the new 'Filtered Data' TDMS file that might illustrate what I'm talking about.
    Thank you,
    Dan

  • Properties in TDMS file not visible in Diadem

    Hi,
    I'am using Diadem 2011 to read a tdms file created in LabVIEW 2011.
    In diadem i cannot see the properties (file, group or channel) i added myself to the tdms file, in LabVIEW withe the TDMS file reader they are visible.
    Attached (in the zip), the TDMS file and an word doc with some screenshots.
    Somebody knows what i'm doing wrong?
    thx

    Hello Ben,
    the properties are loaded but not all properties are displayed in the Properties node in the tree control automatically. The context menu offers the ability to display properties in the tree.
    But if you klick on the main root/group/channel node in the tree the properties are displayed in the window right bottom. There you will see your properties.
    But in the DIAdem/DataFinder naming conventions following happens.
    If you use one of the following characters in a custom property name, DIAdem replaces this character with an underscore: ., :, ,, ;, ', \, @, <, >, #, [, ], %, (, ), {, }, |, *, ?, =, !, ", ^, $, &, +, -, /, and a space.
    So if you do not want to run into this you should rename the properties

  • File Content Conversion Removes Leading Blank/Space

    I'm having a problem where file content conversion is trimming leading blanks/space/whitespace from fields when reading in the inbound file.  I've seen where people have posted that you need to use fieldContentFormatting to prevent content conversion from stripping the leading/trailing whitespace.  I added that parameter to my list (see below example) but it still appears to be trimming the leading whitespace.  Look forward to hearing your thoughts.  Here are the details:
    I'm using fixed length file content conversion for Sender File Adapter (SP15).  I have the following parameters set:
    Document Name = MaterialData
    Recordset name = item
    Recordset Structure = MaterialLine, 1
    I have:
    MaterialLine.fieldNames = matno_external, mat_description
    MaterialLine.fieldFixedLengths = 40, 40
    MaterialLine.fieldContentFormatting = nothing, nothing
    The following is the input file (notice spaces prior to second occurrence of material numbers)
    ZED00000001                             AIMS LIGHT A
    ZED00000001                            AIMS LIGHT B
    ZED00000002                             AIMS SWITCH A
    ZED00000002                            AIMS SWITCH B
    ZED00000003                             AIMS SEMICONDUCTOR A
    ZED00000003                            AIMS SEMICONDUCTOR B
    The following is the source XML after file content conversion from SXMB_MONI (note spaces no longer exist in matno_external tag).
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    - <ns:MaterialData xmlns:ns="http://xxxxxxx.com/yyy/test">
    - <item>
    - <MaterialLine>

      <matno_external>ZED00000003</matno_external>
      <mat_description>AIMS SEMICONDUCTOR B</mat_description>
      </MaterialLine>
      </item>
      </ns:MaterialData>

    Thanks all for your attempts but I figured it out and wasn't this the biggest case of irony.
    Here I was trying to prevent leading spaces from being trimmed in the loading of my file and my problem was that when I typed:
    MaterialLine.fieldContentFormatting
    I actually left a "blank" at the end of the "g" in Formatting.  Apparently XI didn't like that and neither gave me a runtime or compile error.  Anyway I found this and though I'd share in case anyone else encounters it.  I removed the blank and all is working now.

  • PI removing blank spaces at the end of the lines in a plain text file

    Hi -
    I have an interface that transfers a file via FTP. I defined both the sender and receiver to transfer either Text or Binary but the interface removes every blank space I have after the last character. The file is a fixed lenght file.
    Example:
    Original file:
    Hello world(space)(space)(space)(space)(space)(space)(space)(space)(eol)
    where (space) is the space character and (eol) is the end of line char.
    File after it is received.
    Hello world(eol)
    I already defined the parameter Row.fieldFixedLenghts with 10164 which is the lenght of the lines of the file.
    Any ideas why it may be happening?
    Thanks,
    Carlos.

    Hi -
    I tried both the parameters:
    xml.fieldContentFormatting
    structure.fieldContentFormatting
    The received file still has the problem. All the blank spaces are cleared out.
    The file is a plain text file not an XML file. May this be the issue?
    Thanks,
    Carlos.

  • I need a powershell command to replace unicode chars in a file name to a blank space

    Can anyone provide me with a powershell command which will search and replace a specific unicode character in a file name to just a blank space?
    Thanks

    Hi Roadster198,
    In addition, if you want to search and rename the text files under a folder, please also check this script:
    Get-ChildItem -Path d:\test1\1\*.txt -Recurse| where{$_.name -like "*ф*"}|rename-item -newname { $_.name -replace "ф"," " }
    If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

    Hi,
        above mentioned FM canbe used to eliminate extra zeros   in char field. eg. material number.
      MATNR will contain 18 char.-000000000045678925.
      toget only 45678925 F.M -conversion exit can be used.

  • How to use blank space replace NULL on discoverer viewer

    Hi,
    There is a report that has a varchar field should show text values, and if NULL, I need it show blank space, and does in disco desktop, but on viewer, the same worksheet shows NULL.
    Even I changed in the Tools - Options - Format menu(desktop), it still show NULL on viewer.
    why?
    please help! thanks!
    sammy

    Hi Sammy,
    Unfortunately ‘some’ of the settings set in Desktop do not carry over to Viewer. These options need to be defined for Viewer itself.
    A temporary way to set the Viewer settings is to click on ‘Options’ when logged in Viewer itself. You’ll have to open a responsibility or report before this option becomes available to select. Within here you’ll be able to change the way NULL values are seen. However this method only makes the change for the User you logged in with.
    To make the change for all users, it’s best to edit the PREF.TXT file on the Discoverer Server. Please view the documentation below for more information on how to configure Viewer. For windows platform click here : http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/A90287_01/toc.htm,
    For Unix platform click here : http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/A90288_01/toc.htm. Once you’ve run the applypreference script, these settings will be forced down to all users of Discoverer.
    Hopefully this will help ;-)

    with regards
    Ram

    Hi,
    Make sure there are no spaces before/after your form fields - put them on their own line with no spaces in between. On their own line they don't generate an extra line.
    If you are still having problems email me the xml and rtf ggr888 [AT] gmail [D0T] com
