Block Network SGE2010-G5

Hello,
I have a serious problem when copy great files via network. Before switched were changed by this model, all works perfectly, but now network is blocked when traffic is high, and ping isn't continued.
Installation is 2  SGE2010-G5 in stack mode. Only NTP Server is configured, and all other things default configuration.
Jumbo frame option doesn't solve the problem.
How can I do?
Regards.

Hi Miguel,
I think it is better  to call the Small Business Support Center (SBSC)  and let them understand why you are having issues.
They can be contacted via the following URL;
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/support/tsd_cisco_small_business_support_center_contacts.html
I did have some questions , but it would need you to reply with a lot of information.  A SBSC technician should be able to check the switch  statistics and ask you questions about the switch topology setup to figure what might be the cause of your trouble.
But I do hope you are using either of switch port 24 or 48 for stacking purposes and no other switch  ports to connect the switch together?
I do hope you do not have a cabling loop in the network, which will either cause Spanning tree issue or a broadcast storm ?
regards Dave

  • IPS 5.1(3) never-block-networks not working

Our Cisco IDS 4200 appliances have been converted from 4.1(x) to 5.1(3) with latest signature S252. I'm going through fine-tuning and enabling countermeasures step-by-step. One thing I noticed is that even though a never-block-host for our /19 CIDR is configured the IPS is still blocking IP's within that range. Am I correct in understanding the behavior of never-block-network with IPS 5.1(3) meaning never ever block, right? I'll try breaking it down into /24 since maybe it doesn't like /19.

Something else you may want to consider as a workaround.
Instead of solely relying on the NeverBlock list, you can also create event-action-filters in 5.1(3) that can remove the "request-block-host" and "request-block-connection" event actions.
In 4.1 the filters would remove the entire alert and all actions for the alert.
So if you tried to use filters to prevent the Blocks it would also keep you from seeing the alert in your alert viewer.
But in 5.0/5.1 you can now independantly remove actions from the event.
So you can create a filter for all signatures where the attacker address is the addresses you never want blocked, and remove the request-block-host and request-block-connection actions.
This way when the sensorApp/AnalysisEngine service triggers an event for the attack it will not even send the block request to the network access controller service, but will still go ahead and do the rest of the event actions that were configured on the signature.
There is also no a specific action in order to get an event to actually create an alert for viewing. This is event-action is "produce-alert".
So if the "produce-alert" and "request-block-host" event actions were both configured on the signature, then the filter can remove the "request-block-host" event action and still allow the "produce-alert" event action to happen.

  • Blocking network packets using java

    Hello Friends,
I am trying to develop a firewall application using java.I am able to capture packets using third party library called jpcap(from sourceforge).
Now, the problem is how to block packets. There is no library as such ,to my knowledge atleast,to block network packets.I am finding for a solution
    regards,
    raj

    What do you mean?
Dropping a TCP/UDP packet would happen at the IP level. Given that TCP/UDP runs on IP (and ICMP as well) that means that basically you must impliment a stack.
Conversely it might be that the specific stack you are using provides that functionality and you just need to configure it. That would be done via JNI (and has nothing to do with IP/TCP/UDP.)
If all you are doing is proxying, which is what a firewall does, then you recieve a TCP packet and then just drop it or forward it. Doing that in a Java application however is not actually the same as most firewalls (certainly not dedicated boxes.)

  • Win 7 PC freeze and block network access for other PC on same switch during windows update from WSUS

    Hello,
It's been a problem for me for a long time now, but the last time (today) I found 3 PC on 2 different switches that block all the network on this 2 switches during the update.
I have a Domain with 80 PC with Win 7 (32&64bit) that takes the updates from the WSUS server that is configured on a Win2k8 r2. The system works well from 2 years from now but sometimes cause this errors that make me look like a dummy in front of angry
employees. If one of the PC get freeze , it will cause lost of connection on all the PC on same switch, and i have to find the blocked PC, remove from network, restart switch and hope that they will came back on.
Does anyone experienced this problem? Any help will be appreciated
    Thank you!
List of updates for today below

    Hi
Thanks for your response, yes I understand that the result is a Broadcast Storm and yes I have the cheapest switch on market :/.
The interest fact is that on one PC, I changed everything and keep only the old HDD and on last updates yesterday it was one of the blocked one too. So this make
me doubt that is something wrong in software on that PC. I don't have any third-part programs except browsers and all have Genuine Win7
The only investigation remained is what happens during the update process?
    Is WSUS involved in something?
And another thing is the fact that some of the PC are cloned, but I have carefully changed the SID
    Thank you for your support

  • HP LaserJet P1505n stops printing and blocks network interface

I have been using my P1505n for over two years without any problem. But it suddenly stopped printing. The scenario is as follows:
    1. The P1505n is connected to a wired home network with reserved IP address in the DHCP server.
    2. The P1505n is used from Ubuntu 10.4, 11.4 , Windows XP and Windows 7 without any previous problems.
    3. The last partial successful print job stopped in the middle of a page leaving the rest blank: no paper jam.
    4. I have reset the printer several times: turn off + press Cancel & Go + turn on while holding the two buttons down.
    5. The first reset was successful: the toner level going from 40 to 100%. The next ones may have been successfull too.
    6. After each reset and also after each power-on, I can ping and access the embedded web server.
    7. Whenever I send a print job, the print queue on the computer (all OS behave identically) says "printing" and stops. I can cancel/remove the jobs from Ubuntu.
    8. After the printer receives the print job, it silently blocks the network interface (no ping nor web) and doesn't print anything. No movementsm no LED blinking either: just nothing happens.
What is the reason for this problem? And how do I solve it?

    Hi firedude007,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that your HP Laserjet P1102w stops printing files from your Mac but not on Windows, and I am happy to help!
For further assistance, I will need to know the following information:
The version number of the Mac Operating System. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
If the printer is connected, Wireless, or USB.
If the printer is able to make copies by itself.
In the meantime, I would try the following:
Reset the printing system. Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system.
Verify and repair disk permissions. Disk Utility 12.x: Repair disk permissions.
Hope to hear from you, and thank you for posting!

  • Block network port dns auto register

    Macpro running 10.6.8 server
i have a 4 port gb pci card setup with teaming on one network and this is the primary network for file sharing and so forth.
I'm using the onboard nics for iscsi traffic.
I've set in network prefs that the team for the pci card is first priority.
I have AD 2003 environment. the iscsi network adapter registers with DNS under the server name. This is obviously an issue as users can not connect over that IP address.
On windows i can just select a nic and uncheck "register dns"
How can i accomplish this on the mac? anyone else run into this issue?
perhaps my only option is to add say Ethernet 1 and 3 of the pci ports to a team and use ethernet 2 and the 4th port on the pci for iscsi in order to avoid the  auto register issue.
for a note. When I had just the 2 ports going. Eth1 for network and eth2 for iscsi i didn't have auto register issues.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
I not sure most of us care which port is used by DNS, but i think I can help you out.
From what I understand, you have a hardware firewall on your network. Devices on your network, get their DNS information from the router. So, if you set your router DNS to OpenDNS, that will be the only DNS used by your network.
The same is true for the touch. Since your network supplies it with its IP address and Subnet Mask, it also supplies it with the default DNS from your router. As long as you are connected to your network, you will use OpenDNS.
Where you can't control using OpenDNS is if your touch is connected to another network. You have to use the DNS client of that network. The same is true of any device used to connect remotely.
The iPhone software for WiFi is exactly the same as the touch. OS X works like any other OS when it comes to networking.

  • ESET Firewall Blocking Network

I have followed the ESS setup instructions carefully and have not found what is wrong with the configuration.  Sharing is possible only when the firewall is disabled.  I have even tried creating a rule to allow all access to 10.0.0.1 - 10.0.0.3 with no luck (There are just 2 PC's sharing files, printers, and an internet connection).  The error log has a frequent message like the following.  Although the receiving port number is staying the same (10.x.2:2191 - also this PC which is running ESET), I am not sure why there are all the other ports on the sending PC (10.x.3).
Any help would be appreciated.  I have never had a lot of luck with configuring firewall rules with any software package.  The only package I have used that is more complicated than ESS is NORTON.

  • File uploads block network

    Greetings,
I've found that when I upload larger files (~5MB), every machine in my network is unable to load even a simple webpage and ping latency goes from ~17ms to ~400ms. This occurs when uploading from any of the three machines with different configurations, but not when I upload from windows. Unfortunately, I don't know what other relevant information I could give, except it started to happen approximately in january this year...
Is there any explanation for the fact that this doesn't happen on win?
    Thanks for any advice

If you're saturating your uplink, you would get behaviour similar to that described. Myabe the Windows box has an upload bandwidth limit configured? (That's as far as I can go on that subject, no WIndows here).
Anyway, try limiting the upload bandwidth from the other machines - probably best done centrally on your router, if it has that capability, otherwise on each machine.

  • Photosmart 7760 drivers not visible after manual install, blocking network access

    Hello --
I have an HP Photosmart 7760 installed and working on a Mac Mini connected to a wired ethernet LAN. The printer has been configured to be shared by the Mac and I am able to print to it from other Macs. However, I am unable to install this shared network printer on Windows XP despite being otherwise able to connect to the Mac Mini from the XP machine.
When going through the Add Printer wizard on XP, I am able to browse to and see the printer on the Mini. After double-clicking the printer, I get:
You are about to connect to a printer on MINI, which will automatically install a print driver on your machine.  Printer drivers may contain viruses or scripts that can be harmful to your computer.  It is important to be certain that the computer sharing this printer is trustworthy.  Would you like to continue?
I click Yes and then get:
The server for the printer does not have the correct printer driver installed.  If you want to search for the proper driver, click OK.  Otherwise, click Cancel and contact your network administrator or original equipment manufacturer for the correct printer driver.
I then click OK and browse through the list of printer manufacturers to HP, but don't see any Photosmart printers in the printer list (lots of Deskjets, Paintjets, Officejets, etc).
I have downloaded and installed the XP drivers by hand, (HP Photosmart Printer Software and Driver version 5.3 from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=305375.) However, I still am not able to see the appropriate driver
    My questions:
    1. Is there an alternate way to install these drivers (e.g. via the Have Disk button) such that they will appear in the above printer list?
    2. If not, is there an alternate printer I can use that will work from XP with a network-attached 7760?
    3. Barring the above, are there any other things anyone can recommend I try in order to resolve this?
    Thanks!
    Regard,
    Ramon

    Hello thecousin,
you have tried a lot of things and if you are sure that the problem is not hardware (sometimes even when the lights are blinking there might be a problem with the hardware itself) i recommend you to do the following:
    1. Try to reinstall the network driver (download new/latest one from Lenovo.com) and see if this could help.
    2. Try to think of any software you have installed prior to the problems... some software might be affecting your network settings/connections
    3. Sometimes i have seen problems with the windows "services" so you might have a look there (it is in the control panel/administrative tools/services) and see what is started and what isn't
    4. Well the last one would be to reinstall the OS
    Good Luck

  • Google Play Nexus 6 on Verizon Network C-Block Rules Violation

    Verizon,
I have tired for some time to figure out how to activate my Google Play bought Nexus 6 on your network in accordance to C-Block rules. As No rep is able to point me to clearly defined and published procedures and rights I can only assume your in violation of "47 CFR 27.16 - NETWORK ACCESS REQUIREMENTS FOR BLOCK C IN THE 746-757 AND 776-787 MHZ BANDS."
I request that my Nexus 6 be properly activated on your Network, and that I be provided with a Link to the "clear and reasonable procedures" that the FCC requires of you to publish for how to activate a device on your network along with all of my rights to request attachment to your network.
47 CFR States that if your operating in 746-757 and 776-787 MHz bands that
    1) Licensees offering service on spectrum subject to this section shall not deny, limit, or restrict the ability of their customers to use the devices and applications of their choice on the licensee's C Block network
    2)
    (1) Licensees shall establish and publish clear and reasonable procedures for parties to seek approval to use devices or applications on the licensees' networks. A licensee must also provide to potential customers notice of the customers' rights to request the attachment of a device or application to the licensee's network, and notice of the licensee's process for customers to make such requests, including the relevant network criteria.
    (2) If a licensee determines that a request for access would violate its technical standards or regulatory requirements, the licensee shall expeditiously provide a written response to the requester specifying the basis for denying access and providing an opportunity for the requester to modify its request to satisfy the licensee's concerns.

I disagree... I am being discriminated against and charged and extra $25 a month by bringing my own device.
So as they are also not able to activate my device without faking a sim card - IE I cannot make a new account with my GP N6, and they are charging me over. This is clearly a violation.
Discrimination of this nature is prohibited by the 700 MHz Order open platforms provisions (22 FCC Rcd, Pages 15358–15374), specifically Paragraph 222:
In that regard, we emphasize that C Block licensees may not impose any additional discriminatory charges (one-time or recurring) or conditions on customers who seek to use devices or applications outside of those provided by the licensee.

  • Network users cannot log in to server

I have set up a new server from scratch on a new Macmini.  In the main, it works absolutely fine.  Users can log into the sever from client device as registered user and can share the screen with no problem.
The users are set up as local network users and are in a local group and a network group. I set them up using Workgroup manager after setting up Open directory.  All users cn be seen from OD and WM.  However, they cannot log in to the server directly - only the server adminstrator can do that.  Home drives etc are all set up fine.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    F

Administrators always have access, you may have blocked Network Users from having access using Workgroup Manager 10.8.
    Open Workgroup Manager 10.8
Authenticate to the local directory as an administrator.
Go to the machines section and select the server where users cannot log in.
Click the preferences icon to see the preferences for that computer set through WM 10.8
    From the overview choose Login.
Choose the Access tab and set Manage: to Never.

  • FIREWALL / EXPLORER ISSUES (No prompt on blocked incoming connections)

I've spent a week trying to identify the cause of this, and I've just cleared (deleted) several machines (VHDs), thinking they were exhibiting the symptoms, only to find my clean VHD installs are also ... infected?
My firewall appears correctly configured (default settings, nothing's changed)
but it's blocking programs (I think), and not asking me to set rules. I've searched the reg, no references of the exe, I've checked the firewall rules, nothing there. In my configured systems (I've just deleted) I even reverted to factory service settings,
in case I'd stopped/manualised something that needed to be automated....
I'd compared registry shots. Nada. And now I can't use my iPhone as a mouse, and god knows what other problems are in there.
Is this a malware issue? How can I test to see what's blocking 'networked' programs (incoming connections / interactive services)?

Maybe it's an issue with the setup. rebooted into bad build that doesn't have this issue.. worked
    when it works
About to retry newly extracted files.. thought I'd try them on this machine.. FAIL. Which means there's an issue with the path (?), or some info is written somewhere about the program when it's  extracted (again, ?).
when it doesn't work, then does work...
Ok, my money's on path, and my question is this: if you run an .exe off a usb, for example, will windows firewall prompt and manage that program?
I'm wondering if the OS (f/w mgr) is not seeing the app, and therefore not prompting for mgmt...
Moment of truth: rebooting to new build to test (more) 'local' execution of program!

  • Install SharePoint 2013 database on SQL server 2012 SP1 cluster

    Good Day all,
We are trying to install SharePoint 2013 database on a SQL server 2012 Enterprise with SP1 cluster (configured for mixed mode) but the connection is not working (times out). We can telent the SQL cluster network name on port 1433 and we made
a UDL connection file, test the connection via windows authentication and it is working, but if we use the sql authentication it is not working.
Also we have two SharePoint 2013 servers connected via NLB.
Any idea about this issue guys?

event if 3355 means 3 things:
The SQL Server might be offline.
The SharePoint Foundation database access account might not have the necessary permissions to communicate with the SQL Server.
A firewall that runs on either the local server or on SQL Server might be blocking network communications.
Big question, how you trying to connect SQL  windows or sql authentication? is it throwing error on Config wizard or somewhere else?
Please remember to mark your question as answered &Vote helpful,if this solves/helps your problem. ****************************************************************************************** Thanks -WS MCITP(SharePoint 2010, 2013) Blog: http://wscheema.com/blog
