Blocking iMessage

Hi.
If I have someone blocked on my hotmail, do I revived their messages on iMessage?
Please let me know.
Thank you.

You cannot block imessages.  The best you can do is turn off imessage if you do not wan tto receive them from someone.  That may change with ios7

Apple, Please allow blocking of imessaging! I understand it's free, but sometimes we just don't want to receive communicaiton from some people.  Have your customers top of mind with this. We should be able to make these type of decisions with our phones.  How dificult is to to add a block imessaging option under contacts.  As a first time user with the iPhone, this is one component that lures me back to the Android.

Can I block iMessages from a specific person with Mavericks operating system?

Im having the same troubles. My research from apple says that you click on the contacdt from your message list and go to the top tool bar, select view and block buddie. Unfortanatley that option to click on block, is grey (not an option). Agravating! I hope someone can figure this out.

  • Block iMessage on student's own BYOD iPads?

    Hi,
As well as supply iPads for students to use, students can bring their own iPads to school and connect to our Wifi. My question is, how can we block iMessage for students only without having to supervise their devices in Configurator? If we block the suggested ports in our filtering server, it also blocks other Apple functionality and we don't want to block it for staff.
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    SMM.

Sorry, but other than blocking the ports in the router, there's no way to block iMessages on devices you don't manage. You could block port 5223 which might disable Messages without too collateral damage. Below are listed some other services Apple has on 5223:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629
    XMPP over SSL
    Apple Push Notification Service
    APNs
    FaceTime
    Game Center
If you need any of those services to run, then you won't be able to block iMessages. Even if you block it through your WiFi network, that won't stop students with iPhones or iPads with cell service from using it, so if this is a classroom issue rather than one of tying up your WiFi network (in which case Messages really doesn't take up much bandwidth), there's probably little point in blocking Messages on your network even if you can do so.
The ony other option is to require that any student who wishes to use an iOS device in your school allow it to be managed, and that's a policy I think your school would find difficult to implement.
    Regards.

  • Blocking iMessage and FaceTime from macbook pro

    i just installed yosemite.
    1) is there a way to COMPLETELY BLOCK iMessages from my iPhone from ever showing up on my macbook pro?
i noticed that when i go into iMessage preferences on my macbook pro that in settings i was able to turn off my cell phone number (?and email account) so that messages would never pop up on my iMac. but i also noticed that under accounts, "blocked" it LISTS the names and phone numbers of people i have blocked! is there some way to make sure this NEVER shows up on my macbook pro?
when i "deleted" some of the blocked names in accounts of iMessage on my macbook pro, and then looked on my phone, i noticed they were no longer blocked. so i blocked a particular individual again via my phone, and it showed up in my iMessage as blocked on my macbook pro.
is there a way to just remove or completely hide iMessage on my macbook pro? can i also remove it from the ?toolbar at the bottom of the computer?
    2) same thing with FaceTime. i never use it on my iPhone (have it turned off on my iPhone), and have it turned off on my macbook via preferences. but is there also a way to remove it or hide it on my macbook pro, so that it never shows up? also remove it from ?toolbar at bottom of macbook?
(interestingly, as i typed this, i noticed the iMessage icon disappeared from my ?toolbar at the bottom of the macbook pro. was that because i hit the "hide iMessage" under preferences on my macbook?)
    thank you for your help,
    a-

Sign out of Messages by going to System Preferences/Internet Accounts and deselect the enable this account box. To get it out of the Dock, control - click and hold, then Options/Remove from Dock. Dock procedure is the same for FaceTime.
For FaceTime, open the application then FaceTime/Preferences, and deselect enable this account.

  • Why can I block iMessages from certain people on my phone and tablet and not my Macbook 10.9.1????

    HI,
Apple said it would be coming to both the iOS version and the Mac version but it seems it is  little slow on the Mac version.

    Hi,
I am not aware that Spam/Junk can be sent via iMessages.
unfortunately you can't block anyone on the Mac version but you can in the iOS version.
It blocks the Contacts  iPhone Number, the FaceTime access and iMessages.
It should be remembered that Messages on the iOS will do SMS when the messages are not from an iOS device or a Mac using an iMessages account.
SMS spam is obviously a different matter.
However you should be able to block these the same way.
iPhone > Settings > Messages and scroll to the Bottom.
    Select Blocked and then Add

  • Will blocking someone's phone number block iMessages as well as calls/ texts?

I recently blocked someone's phone number on my account (we both have iPhones) and am wondering....
        a. will this person still be able to send me an iMessage?
        b. what do they see on their end when they send a text message?
If you know from experience and can share that would be great! Thanks!

They will not get a message saying their number is blocked if it's a straight SMS text. They may get a "delivery failure" notice on the message. For calls, they will receive a recording telling them that your number is not receiving calls.
As far as iMessages, if you delete the person from your contacts, you can go into your Settings--> Notifications--> Messages... at the bottom of this screen you will see Show iMessage Alerts From:... change your option from Everyone to My Contacts Only. This doesn't technically "block" anything, but it does prevent the message from reaching you. You can, however, still iMessage them.
Otherwise, you can turn iMessaging off in your settings, under the messages tab. Then ALL messages from everyone come through as text messages and the block service Verizon offers will take care of the numbers you enter.

  • Block imessage on ipad remotely

    Hi,
I originally loag my iphone on the itunes account of my husband but now that we split he still receives my sms on his ipad. How can I interrupt that remotely (without access to his ipad)?
    Thanks

Those are iMessages, not SMS's, & your husband is getting them because you both share the same Apple ID for iCloud, FaceTime & iMessage.
Whose Apple ID is this, yours or your husband's? If yours, you can simply change the password to fix this. If your husband's ID, you'll have to turn iMessage & FaceTime off, then delete the iCloud account: Settings>iCloud...scroll down...delete account. Then set everything back up again using your ID.

  • I currently have Imessage turned off on my phone since there is no blocking feature on the Iphone 4.  If I change my phone number and turn on Imessage, how do I make sure I won't get Messages from person I have blocked?

I have the Iphone 4 but before this I had a different phone and had blocked someone from contacting me via calls/texts.  Unbeknownst to me, when I got the Iphone 4, that I cannot block Imessages.   I have turned off Imessage for the time being but I'm seriously considering changing my phone number.  If I change the number with my carrier and turn Imessage back on,  what do I have to do to ensure that any previous messages don't come through and any future messages cannot be sent?

There are links on that page to features.

  • Blocked a number, still receiving texts. iMessage?

I recently blocked a number (using 1 of the 5 free temporary block spots) from someone who I am getting tired of hearing from. However, the day after, I received texts from them. Why would this occur? They also have an iPhone and it was sent through iMessage. Does the Verizon blocker not block iMessages? If not, then how do block it?
    Thanks.

Messages sent through imessage uses the data plan and won't be caught by the Verizon Wireless block.
I would suggest turning off imessage on your phone. This will force all messages to go through the Verizon Wireless network. You might need to adjust your message plan size if necessary.
I don't know if it possible to block someone from sending you an imessage.

  • IMessage in UAE, problem since late Mar '15

    Hi
I'm using an iPhone in UAE since some years. I've always used iMessage and i've always used the phone + iMessage on the same carrier, i.e. Etisalat. I'm continuing with the same phone (equipment) and same carrier (Etisalat) and same phone # (GSM # even). So pretty much no change
I use the official & latest version of OS IoS 8.2. NO Jail break or anything.
All along I had connected my phone and one e mail id to iMessage. But all conversations were started using the phone # (choice / setting on iPhone -Settings - General - messages etc etc). My friends could locate (in iMessage) me using my GSM phone #. This was till approx 10 days ago..
However, say since late Mar '15, I'm unable to send iMessages using just my phone # . I'm forced to use (set up) an e mail as my address to send / receive iMessages (add e mail option in message settings). If I remove all e mail, then when sending, iMessages fail !! Also when I add an e mail along with my phone, the conversations start with my email !! Friends see my message as from an e mail
Is this Etisalat banning / blocking iMessages ? or what ?
Does some other setting mess with iMessage ?
Thanks in advance for your help
Why do I ask : if ppl can't locate me on iMessage with my phone, then the whole purpose is lost
    thanks
    regards
    subu

    Howdy Subu,
Just as an initial troubleshooting step for this issue where your phone number is not an option in iMessage, I'd like you to please sign out of iMessage and then sign back in.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
On your iPhone first, sign back in to iMessage.
If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Take care,
    Alex H.
