Blog Entry Date

Here is the deal. I'm using the "Blog" feature to do a summary of each day of my trip. I create a new entry and on that page title it and type the date (of what I'm writing about) in the date field. However at the top and on the main blog page they all have today's date. Is there a way to change this so it accurately reflects the correct date? I'm using iWeb 08. you can find my "blog" at http://web.mac.com/geoffgentry/GeoffGentrys_Journal/Colombia_2009/Colombia2009.html

I noticed this happened to me today too?? I'm not sure why. I just clicked on the date and waited for the date to show and changed them manually. That seemed to work.

  • Can't change blog entries date - double clicking in date field doesnt work

I've read some posts here that you can't manually arrange the order in wich your blog entries appear, but you can change their dates, so that iWeb will always show from newest to oldest.
The thing is when I'm at the entries pane and I double click an entry's date field, nothing happens. I simply can't edit their date (wich means I can't rearrange them, I'm stuck with the order I created them).
When I double click their title I can change it, and if I press TAB it simply focus out of the editing pane, it doesn't move to the date field.
Any ideas why this is happening ? Im using iWeb 09 (3.0.1)

Found the solution! (I'm using iPhoto 4, BTW)
I click the film roll once.
I highlight the date field and change to my preferred date (MM/DD/YYYY format).
I hit "tab" or "enter" once.
    I close the iPhoto window!
iPhoto quits, which is awkward, but when I reopen it, the date is set, and sticks.
If anyone else has this problem and has not migrated to the new iLife, this should do it for them!

  • Blog entry dates

I had only just started playing with the blog service on 10.4 server and only had two entries, both about a month old. I note that after having upgraded to 10.5 Server, both blog entries are dated TODAY.
If I had had any serious amount of blogging under my belt, I think I'd be pretty upset by this! Is this a bug, or a feature?

Followup: I decided to look into the logs. I found this:

  • How to publish blog entries without dates on Iweb?

Hi,I'm very new to Iweb and would appreciate some help.
Is there an option for me to post my blog entries without having to show the dates the blog entries are created on the site? I just want the titles to e shown but not the dates.. I deleted the dates on the template but after publishing, the dates still show..
    Thanks

Have a look here to see if it will help you...
    http://roddymckay.com/Satellite/Slideshow.html
This is done with PostCard but its the same procedure.
You might also want to look at JAlbum...
    http://jalbum.net/
Their "chameleon" template is very similar and allows you to create a link back to your site. Its freeware and they now offer you free server space too!
You don't have to use "Made on a Mac" (or any other stuff) - just delete it and add your own footer with your copyright information.

  • Organize blog entries by date

does anyone know how to re organize blog entries by date. Currently when I add a new entry it goes to the top of the list I need new entries to go to the bottom. I am using a blog page as a calendar of events and the order of dates is backwards from the way I need it if you go here you will see what I mean

Thanks For the help.I published the site to a folder, opened both files in dreamweaver and I see what you are saying. But this fix has me manually editing both files every-time I make a new post. and as far as i understand this will not work when publishing to .mac. do you have any other thoughts.
You don't have to redo everything if you keep copy of the edited xml.
When you add a new entry you just copy the last entry from the new xml and paste into the edited xml and replace it (keep a edited copy for future use though).
As for publishing to .mac, your site is located in your iDisk, mount your iDisk, and do the same procedure.

  • IWeb: Post Blog Entries By Reverse Date

I'm making a class web page with a blog entry for each lecture... as it is, the most recent entry (as in, the last lecture) displays first and the first lecture displays last. Any way to fix this?

it would help if we could see the messed up pages. otherwise we can only guess what's happening. my guess is that you have somehow dropped the content into the header making the header really big and thus why you can't move the blog all the way up. a way to check is to show the layout. and see if there's a grey line above where the blog is sitting.

  • How do I change the order of blog entries?

How can I change the order of my blog entries? I want to add some extra items with an earlier date but iWeb won't let me drag the entries around and insists they must stay in the order of the creation date. What do I do?

    Chris...
yeah, I'm probably not making myself clear... change the date on the podcast page entry. Select the entry you want to edit, then move your mouse down to the actual page that appears below. On that page, below the title, is a date. Change that. It will change the date published in the entry list above.

This is the standard listing... day spelled out, Month and day number, year. iWeb has to see it in this format to make the changes above.

  • Linking to Adobe PDF on blog entry crashing iWeb

Help! I have been using iWeb to create a website and blog. In a recent blog entry, i linked to an Adobe PDF file on my computer. The link was functioning and working fine, and then I saved the entry and iWeb crashed. I managed to open it back up by sending photos from iPhoto to iWeb. The other pages of the website work fine, and other blog posts also work fine. I tried publishing and the site published. However, in both iWeb and online, the blog post with the linked PDF is now just blank. The PDF works fine on its own and is not corrupted.
I have tried editing the post as well as deleting it in iWeb, but every time I click either button iWeb crashes and gives me an error message. I cannot duplicate the blog post either. This would somehow be okay, but I cannot add a new blog entry in iWeb either (it crashes). other pages are unaffected. I have not attempted deleting the entire blog portion of the website yet. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the malfunctioning blog post besides deleting the whole website and starting from scratch? Bear in mind the back-up of the Domain I saved was after I saved the blog post. Is there a 3rd party app that I can open my Domain in to manually remove the blog entry, or someway to access the code to delete the data that way?

This JUST happened to me as well after linking to a PDF file but now I can't get iWeb to load up, well, it opens and I can see the inspector pane but that is all...the main window is not there and I can't seem to figure out how to get it.
I also noticed a bunch of iWeb stuff in the trash now in a "recovered files" folder.
    Any ideas?

  • In iWeb, blog entries are not appearing

in iWeb, am entering blog entries which are appearing in the blog archive but showing up as an entry for people to see.  Any suggestions?

Do you mean 'appearing in the blog archive but not showing up as an entry for people to see' ?
By default iWeb limits the number of entries in a blog feed to 5; it then moves older episodes to the archive page (and out of the feed) as new entries are made. You can increase this number to 50 in the RSS section of the Inspector.
New entries should not be appearing in the Archive, though if you were giving them older dates then they presumably would.
Posting the URL of your blog might aid in finding a solution.

  • Iweb help - blog entries problem

    Hello,
I am trying to create a highly customized blog in iweb '08 and so far am doing very well, all the pages look perfect over all browsers however i have tried to edit the blog entries page but am having grave difficulty, i have set the page attributes to 1300 high and 1300 wide copied over the design but now i cant move the generated blog content title and time/date above half way up the page. This is highly annoying does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?
I removed all the content from my 'sidebar' and it let me move the content up the page as soon as i put the sidebar back it wont work
    Thanks

  • Drag multiple photos to create many blog entries at once?

I wanted to make many blog entries at once from some photos. This is trying to catch up with many entries at once, and make basically photo pages with one photo and more than just a caption (like you get with a photo page).
I did this by the usual method when I first tried iweb (try something, it works...). Then I noticed that it just assigned today's date to all the entries. I didn't want that, so I deleted all of them. Then I found out you could edit the dates...
Now, I want to recreate all those entries again, and I can't for the life of me repeat that initial 'try it, it works' of just making many blog entries all at the same time. I can't remember if it was a drag in, or what...
    help!
Doesn't help that iweb goes to SBOD when I first open the media browser for 10 min...

    Peter...
I have not tried this myself, so I'm not sure if this is what you did....but try this...
In iPhoto, select all the photos (Apple-click to select multiple photos) that you want to send to your blog pages. Then do you see the iWeb icon at the bottom of the iPhoto window there??? Click on it and select "publish to photoblog". See if this is what you were looking for...

  • Retreiving lost blog entry with Time Machine

I was working with a new blog entry, when iWeb suddenly quit unexpectedly. I've never been good at hitting the save button, so all my work was lost.
I do run backup with TM, so thought there might be a slim chance that all was good, but alas...
I find the Domain.sites2 file in TM, but when I hit restore this does not change anything! It does not matter which date I try to restore from... iWeb still looks exactly as I left it last. So there must be something I'm doing wrong. Can anyone enlighten me?
    Tnks!!

to restore a file (or folder) with TM you launch TM and go back to the time you want, select the item (iPhoto library in this case) and click restore

  • Blog entry names

I want to use FTP (Fetch) to upload only new blog entries, not the whole blog, to my own domain name. I found this, which tells how to do it (thank you very much!):
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2679140&#2679140
My question is, how do you tell which is the new blog entry when you save to a folder? The names are such long, gibberish-looking things, and the creation date is the same for all the entries. Does it save them in alphabetical order? Do I have to keep a list of all the blog names so I can look for the different one? (shudder)
    Thanks,
    Satya

i don't blog on the website i have, but one way to do this is to upload everything.
Alternatively, you could see what is different from what is on the FTP server and upload that.
    Good luck!

  • Frontloading Blog Entries

I'm in the process of switching a blog from blogger (blogspot) to iWeb. I haven't invested in the latest version of it (09), because I suspect that the only feature I want and need won't be on it either: Namely, I want to be able to prepare blog entries in advance, but not have them publish until the date/time I've specified in the entry's date/time signature. Is this possible with iWeb '09? If not, does anybody know if Apple has plans to introduce this very basic blog feature? If I get it for free on blogger, why can't Apple give it to me on a program I pay for? Thanks for any help or advice anybody can give me.

You could try embedding your blog site into an iWeb page like this demo page: Embed One Site Within an iWeb Page. Then you'd be able to keep your blog and it's entries. iWeb's blog page is not nearly as powerful and versatile as the commercial blog sites like you're using now.

  • Shuffling around blog entries?

    Hi All,
A while back I created several blog pages with iWeb. I did this because it seemed like a way to have categories for my entries. Now I'd like to re-organize my "categories". Which is to say I'd like to move blog entries from one blog page to another one.
I see where I can duplicate an entry and delete an entry, but I can't figure out how to simply copy and paste an entry to another page.
I tried creating a entry in the target blog page, deleting its contents and pasting the contents of another entry. But that didn't work. I ended up with the original empty template content as well as text boxes from the original entry.
The only thing I found that would work is to duplicate an entry in the target blog page, and then copy and paste each of the text fields from one page to the other and then set the date by hand. I don't want to do this for all the rest of the entries. It is tedious, error prone, and tiresome.
    Anyone have a better solution?
    Cheers,
    Chris

Nope, you can't do this. Sorry!
