UDDI and deployed Web Services Best Practice

Which would be considered a best practice?
1. To run the UDDI Registry in it's own OC4J container with Web Services deployed in another container
2. To run the UDDI Registry in the same OC4J container as the deployed Web Services

The reason you don't see your services in the drop-down is because, CE does lazy initialization of EJB components (gives you a faster startup time of the server itself). But your services are still available to you. You do not need to redeply each time you start the server. One thing you could do is create a logical destinal (in NWA) for each service and use the "search by logical destination" button. You should always see your logical names in that drop-down that you can use to invoke your services. Hope it helps.

• How to Create and Deploy Web Services Using Oracle 9i JDeveloper

Hi,
My Question is how to create and deploy Web Services using Oracle 9i JDeveloper.Anybody please give me a detailed Reply. Please Reply to [email protected]
Hopr to Hear From you,

You could use datasources. You should do this in your BC4J Configuration. Then when deploying your applicaiton use the command -installDataSource (from admin.jar) to create the right datasource.
You could probably use the name of your connection + "DS" so you can also use it locally in JDeveloper as JDev seesm to create this automaticly for your Connections.

• Creating and deploying web services

Hi,
I am new to java.
I have created an EJB in NetBeans 5.5 that contains a web service (From one of the web service tutorials - CalculatorWSApplication).
The EJB compiles fine and deploys fine.
I am using the Sun's Server Platform Edition 9.0 Admin Console.
I created a connector connection pool and a connector resource which uses that pool. Then I created a registry with the Publish URL and the Query URL = http://localhost/services/uddi/v3/protect/publishapi (same as the example on the registry page (except for http instead of https).
When I try to publish the web service using the registry I just added I get the message: "Bad response: (405Method not allowed"
As I said, I am very new (started this week) to java and all the java tools so please give me the answer in baby steps, thanks :)

Hi, Saiah
Thanks for getting back to me.
I created a servlet with a doPut() method and it ran fine.
I also downloaded JBoss to see if it'd be easier for me to work with, still need a lot of knowledge for that to be useful :)
Maybe I'm completely on the wrong path, this is my problem in a nutshell:
Using NetBeans IDE 5.5 and following the web services tutorial (http://www.netbeans.org/kb/50/quickstart-webservice.html) when I get to the part "Consuming the Web Service" it tells me to call a web service operation ... when I do this I get a dialog box saying "Select Operation to Invoke" with "Available Web Services" beneath that ... in this dialog I should be seeing a list of web services (inc the ones I have created) but it is completely empty.
Do you have any idea what the problem could be, was I on the right path trying to publish it to the registry?
Thanks,
Justin

• Web services - Best practices

Hello all,
I have been working my way through 'Core J2EE Patterns: Best Practices and Design Strategies' in preparation for a web services based project I am responsible for delivering.
Theres just one thing I cannot get my head round. The book identifies a web service broker responsible for dealing with WS requests. However it states its at the integration level. If I have a WS enabled client wanting to communicate with my services, wouldn't the web service broker have to be the first point of contact, almost acting as a Controller?
Much of this is new to me, so perhaps I am barking up the wrong tree. But any help would be greatly appreaciated
Kind regards
Kevin

Michal
Can you send me your article or anything you have on web services? I am trying to connect to a .NET server and I'm getting the following error:
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHeaderException: WSE012: The input was not a valid SOAP message because the following information is missing: action. at Microsoft.Web.Services3.Utilities.AspNetHelper.SetDefaultAddressingProperties(SoapContext context, HttpContext httpContext) at Microsoft.Web.Services3.WseProtocol.CreateRequestSoapContext(SoapEnvelope requestEnvelope) at Microsoft.Web.Services3.WseProtocol.FilterRequest(SoapEnvelope requestEnvelope) at Microsoft.Web.Services3.WseProtocol.RouteRequest(SoapServerMessage message) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocol.Initialize() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.ServerProtocol.SetContext(Type type, HttpContext context, HttpRequest request, HttpResponse response) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.ServerProtocolFactory.Create(Type type, HttpContext context, HttpRequest request, HttpResponse response, Boolean& abortProcessing)
I know it has something to do with Axis but I just don't know enough. Is there a way around it? Do you know if WSE 3.0 requires Axis2?
Thanks for any info you can send my way.

• Web Service best practice question

Hi ! I'm designing a web service solution and I'm trying to figure out the best way to solve a simple situation. I haver some products at my company which need query by consumers, I need some way to let them provide some sort of unique identifier for the product in order for me to return the product complete description. Unfortunately the products are specific to my company and there is no industry standard to do the search (like an ISBN for books). So I'm considering make an adicional service to just return the products database ID in order to enable the consumer make the actual query using this ID. Is there a better way to handle this situation ??
Thanks everyone !

services should be idempotent and stateless.
that means that transitions and workflow should be the responsibility of the client.

• Web service, best practice

Hi,
I would need some oppionions on best practices for a WS interface.
Lets say I have a system with 5 different states on an entity, lets say states are A, B, C, D and E. It is not possible to shange from any state to any other state, there are certain rules.
Shall the knowledge on these transition rules be on the service consumer or in the service itself. What I'm looking for is what kind of operations I shall expose:
setState(State aState)
or
changeToStateA()
changeToStateC()
And so on... In the first case all knowlege of state transitions must be on the service consumer. In the second case this is not needed as the operation will take care of that.
Is there any guidelines on this?
Thanks,
Mattias

Yes, you should be able to do it. Once you create the web service you can attach ws-policy file to enable ws-security

• Can Jdeveloper 10.1.3 deploy web service on OC4J 10.1.2?

Hi all,
Can I use jdeveloper 10.1.3 develop, and deploy web service on OC4J 10.1.2? My jdk version is 1.4.2. Thanks in advance.

We don't have a direct connection from JDev 10.1.3 to OC4J 10.1.2 - we do have a connection to OAS 10.1.2.
If you want to deploy to a stand alone OC4J 10.1.2 then just create the WAR file in JDeveloper - and then use the OC4J admin interface to deploy the WAR.

• How to integrate deployed Web Services and Portlets

Hi All,
I am able to deploy Web Services and Portlets in the Application Server, which is in the network system. Now, I want to know how to integrate the Web Services and Portlets.I dont have any idea about this and i didn't got any good material..
Please, provide some useful links or material, if anybody has any idea about this.
Thanks in advance.
Praphul

You can consume a Web service from a JSF page for example using the ADF Web service data control:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/bulldog/webservices/ws.html
http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/wsdc/wsdc.htm
You can turn these JSF pages into portlets using WebCenter's JSF to Portlet bridge.

• Standard Web Service and Customized Web Services with or without PI?

Hi All,
I want to know how I can use Standard Web Service available in SAP and customized Web Services
without PI Interface?
And what is the best practice to expose services ,via PI Interface or directly?
Thanks in advance!!
Pushkar

This is purely based on your requirement. If you use PI middleware to expose web services, you get standard functionalities such as certificate authentication, logging, message reprocessing for the failed messages etc. If your requirement is so simple, then you might not need PI. In this case you can develop simple webdynpro for abap program to create webservice and expose the webservice in ECC webservice runtime. You can let anyone to consume within your network. other ways like exposing BAPI/RFC as webservice. I would recommend going with PI.

• To launch Oracle BPM deployed Web Services [In BPM Enterprise]

Hi all,
I have expose my Process Instance into Web Services in Studio.
It is working well. In Studio, I start the Engine (Run -> Start Engine),
Then, I Start the Web Services (Run -> Launch deployed Web Services webapps).
It would show me my local webservice links.
http://localhost:9000/albpmServices/<ProjectName>/ws
But, I unable to launch this Web Service Webapps, when i deploy the project into Oracle BPM Enterprise with Weblogic Server.
May know what is the link for BPM Enterprise?
Regards,
Chris

My URL is:-
http://localhost:9000/albpmServices/TestProject/ws/TestProcessServiceListener?wsdl=true
and it does not seem to open the WSDL when I start the enterprise server engine..
I have the process exposed as a web-service with two methods..
One for Process Creation and another for Notification Wait Activity...
I have also checked the box to start PAPI WS Services on my standalone server
Is there some other config that I need to make inside my standalone server to get this WSDL?
I understand that standalone works on Tomcat...

• Issues with Using Data Dashboard and Using Web Service

After running a system for many months it has suddenly decided to not work at all. I am using Data Dashboard to read variables on a host. I'll outline the system here to get a baseline:
I'm running LV 2012 SP1 f5.
I collect data from one Ethernet port and interfact it to another Ethernet port to form a proxy.
I use a fixed IP address from my DSL along with port forwarding/port triggering in my router for data observation and control.
So, what have I done so far?
1. Repaired my original LV 2012 SP1 and tested system.
2. Upgraded to LV 2012 SP1 f5 and tested system.
3. Ran service.msc and checked all the NI services that should be operational. Started and stopped several of them and rebooted computer.
4. Deployed all my SVs (multiple times)
5. Disconnected second Ethernet interface becasue sometimes the variables would deploy to this IP address.
6. Turned off my wireless because sometimes the variables would deploy to this IP address.
7. Checked "Web Server Configuration" "Application Web Server" for correct port number.
8. Checked "Web Services Management" and under "Deployed Web Services" there is one category: SV is marked as running. NOTE!! WebService is NOT listed and this could be a problem
I can use the following to retrieve data: localhost:<port number>/sv/variable. But when I substitute my DSL IP number, I can no longer get any data.
So, what am I missing?
Thanks,
Paul.

Siana,
Thanks for your response.
I haven't touched the NI code in months. It is running on an XP laptop and I have the Windows updates turned off. McAfee is running on it and of course that updates regularily. This laptop is a dedicated machine that I only use for this function, nothing else. I haven't added or subtracted any programs for many months.
There have been no changes to the DSL from me. AT&T is constantly trying to get us to upgrade to U-Verse but we have resisted. All DSL modem and router hardware is the same.
Confusing, huh?

• Can IREP can be utlized to "DEPLOY" web services in 11.5.10

Hi
IREP is a wonderful repository of all service endpoints or say compilation of all integrations for Ebiz suite.
From R12 onwards it even helps deploy web services.
But I can't seem to understand how in R11.5.10 could IREP help to deploy a web service. If the idea is to access IREP from Jdeveloper within a BPEL or ESB project then that is a separate thing and is recommended.
In 11.5.10 it appears otherwise IREP just provides a generic WSDL that is not specific to a particular Application instance since irep in 11.5.10 doesn't ship with the install.
How can one deploy a web service in 11.5.10 from IREP?

Hi
You have to read XML gateway documentation to get an idea for this. R11.5.10 gives you a generic WSDL for you to supply to your web service subscribers. I was able to enqueue a message successfully through BPEL by utilizing the WSDL supplied by R11.5.10 instead of using an AQ or Oracle Adapter.
The functionality of IREP is much more exploited in R12 compared to 11.5.10 and my personal beleif is that from R12 onwards it is of much use. Look at R12 IREP documentation. You will need to log in as sysadmin or with integration repository admin priveledge to deploy the web service but you can see it through other users as long as the resp is assigned to you and you can deploy XML Gateway and Service Beans based web services from with in R12.
Good Luck

• List the deployed web services in one domain

Is there a way to list all of the deployed web services into WLS? I know that the
console parses the deployed web apps and search inside for a web-services.xml
but I hope there is another way doing this (eg JMX, or some API).
M.

Hi,
pure from a coder instinct I think I would prefer them to be in separate projects for better reuse and clean separation. If I need project 1 to access aclass from Project 2, I can check the dependency check box in the project properties. Is there any business requirement that makes you think having all of these in a single project will help ?
Frank
Btw.: I agree that JDeveloper shouldn't constraint developers from doing what they want and if this is a limitation the feel free to file a bug
