Blog options?

Hello! the most recent site of the day has a blog on it (Home | Timelapse Wiltshire Film Blog) how was this achieved? does anyone know?
Its possible they just duplicate what the article, and add a new page for each one to link to, but its a pretty fully functional blog that matches the website.
any information would be appreciated, thanks.

Does Apple offer any blogging products which are integrated with iPhoto or Aperture?  I like the new Shared Photo Stream functionality, but it lacks most blogging features.
The best blog-software Apple ever had was iWeb. It still works well with iPhoto and Aperture, but is no longer included with the iLife package; you would have to try to find and old boxed retail version.
iWeb has nice blogging features and integrates well with the Media Browser. If you still own an older iLife dvd give it a try, but you'll have to modify the iWeb applicaition a bit:

  • Blogging Option for Muse: Adobe Muse and Rebel Mouse = Love

I love the speed of Muse and the ablity to get up and running fast. My hold out from bringing mysite to Muse was the lack of a blogging option. They are a few work arounds, but I've found my wordpress replacement. Rebel Mouse. I won't show my Muse build just yet, but here's my Rebel Mouse Site Embedded into Muse. Very clean and flawless. and the Good news is, when you build you mobile version, just use a link button and Rebal Mouse automatically gives a mobile version. Or you can Embed HTML in your Muse Mobile if you wish.
FYI: I'm using the Powered Version of Rebel Mouse

  • Artist asks about bandwidth constraints and blogging options

I converted to Mac two months ago and am loving what I can do. I am creating two websites using iWeb '09 (not published yet). It occurred to me that knowing a few things about bandwidth and blogs would help me create better web sites.
I am a professional artist working in a variety of media. For the last three years I have had a professionally created web site that is "hosted" by the web designer. I would like to replace that website with one that I am creating in iWeb. I am considering getting a hosting package with 1 & 1 (although from the answers I am reading on the forum, that may not be necessary). I purchased my domain name through 1 & 1 years ago and will continue to use it. (I have been reading how to do that in the forum).
My artist website will have many pages and many images. When I add the second website, I plan to have an active blog where I encourage people to include pictures in their comments. This would mean even more traffic, downloads, and uploads of images per month. Obviously I am looking in increase traffic to both sites. I am concerned about potentially exceeding the bandwidth permitted.
The Mobile Me package I purchased when I bought the computer has 20 GB of iDisk storage and 200 GB data transfer per month. (I understand that that is expandable to up to 60 GB/600GB. *Do you recommend I increase my package when I publish or can I purchase the additional bandwidth as I get close to capacity?)*
*By the way, if my site were hosted by 1 & 1, for instance, do I still need to stay in the Mobile Me permitted monthly data transfer bandwidth in the package?.*
Because I will now have the ability to update the content of my artist website as of often as needed, I will no longer need the Blogger hosted blog I am currently using (which is under a domain name I purchased through 1 & 1) . I am considering converting that Blogger account (or creating another) to the blog host for my second website (through an external link to my second web site). *However, it is my understanding that if I did that I would not be able to receive comments. Is that correct?*
I like the idea of linking to the Blogger account because of it's bandwidth. I could of course decide not create a second website and just use a Blogger account for the blog I want to create. However Blogger's layout does not allow as much room or flexibility of layout for telling the story of the project effectively.
Alternately I could dump the Blogger blog altogether and use my blog pages within my second Mobile Me website. But again it is the bandwidth issue because I want to encourage uploads of images from people commenting.
Alternately I have looked into creating a whole new Blog using Wordpress and have it completely freestanding and not related to my Mobile me account. However, if possible I would prefer to use a less complicated solution. I still have so much I am having fun learning about the things I can do with my iMac.
    Any suggestions?

By the way, if my site were hosted by 1 & 1, for instance, do I still need to stay in the Mobile Me permitted monthly data transfer bandwidth in the package?.
The bandwidth you use, ie the amount of data transferred by you and your vistors, is calculated where you host your pages.
If you have no pages/images hosted at MobileMe than nothing is counted. If you host your pages/images at 1and1, then they do the counting.
And before you buy more space, first check what you actually use. At MobileMe : your user account.
20GB is 20.000.000.000 bytes. (to keep it simple)
Use a calculator to do the math.
I want to encourage uploads of images from people commenting.
The blog at MobileMe allows comments with attachments. That means that any visitor can upload anything. Also garbage.

  • Blog Summary Widget Error

After completely redoing my page and uploading, my blog doesn't show up any more. Instead it just says "Blog Summary Widget" where the blog would be.
I did a search, and the only things that was suggested was upgrading to iWeb09 (the version I'm using).
I read some mention of it being the blogsummary.js file that is to blame, but nothing on what/how to fix it.
    Any ideas?

Does reinstalling clean like that have any adverse effect on the webpages themselves? (Do you have to rebuild anything).
No — iWeb stores your sites separate from the iWeb app in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you've moved the Domain file from there, when you then re-install iWeb it may "forget" the Domain file's location and expect to find it in ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.
But wherever your iWeb Domain file currently is, you should make a back up of it:
_iWeb: Backing up your Domain file_
Time Machine is another option for back up as well as these free apps which will come in handy when your Mac's internal HD crashes:

I'll look into some non iWeb blogging options, but that was the reason I started using iWeb (I had a 'from scratch' page in dreamweaver that I abandoned)
You wouldn't have to abandon iWeb completely. As an alternative to setting up a basic hyperlink to your external blog, you can link to it from iWeb's navigation bar:
Create a blank internal page titled "Blog" (actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that Blog page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
parent.window.location = "http://www.yourblogname.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
...Once published, clicking on "Blog" in the navbar will immediately redirect to your external Blog page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).

  • Making a Blog in Muse

I want to make a blog website using Creative Cloud on a Mac.  I'd prefer to use Muse, but if it would be easier to use a different app, that would be fine as well.  Any recommendations on how to post articles that can show up in RSS feed?  Thanks!

  • Commenting functionality for blog pages

Does anybody have any information as to when/how Apple might be planning to address a horrible oversight in an otherwise solid 1.0 release... NO COMMENTS!
Is a blog really a blog without commenting functionality? I realize I could publish to a folder and then tweak the code to add a third party service like Haloscan, but that kind of defeats the "one-click" appeal of iWeb. I am still surprised to see that this software made it out the door without some implementation of a commenting solution.
I would be happy with either an Apple proprietary system via a future update OR the ability to insert snippets of code right in the iWeb workspace from third party commenting services. Either way, currently my blog is just a series of static articles without the communal discussion aspect that commenting provides. It's very frustrating when you look at all the other blogging options out there, and nearly every single one allows for comments.
Apple, please don't make us wait until 2007 and another $99 Family Pack to address this crucial oversight! Otherwise, I really love this software. I'm rebuilding my own blog and site with it

A hack has been worked out using Javascript, and it works very well. See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1609160#1609160
    Thanks again, Chad!

  • Including an External Blog

I have a blog on blogger that would be a pain to copy into iWeb, plus it's blogging options seem to not be as nice. I was wondering if I cound have the blog someone go to the site, but still have the nav bar at the top, so they could get back from it!
I am fairly good a writing HTML code, so if it requires something like that, I'm fine.
    Thanks,
    Cameron

You can certainly link to your Blogger blog from iWeb, even via a dummy item on iWeb's navigation bar. See the neat trick described in this topic in the very early iWeb days: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=400373&tstart=0. I'll leave the niceties of returning from Blogger to iWeb up to you
Alternatively, you could follow the example of Suzanne Boben at her 11 Mystics site. Suzanne has integrated her WordPress blog into her iWeb site. She describes how she did this in this blog entry.

  • Blog integration in Muse

I am happy to have my sites hosted at BC, but really hate the arduous task of back-end integration of a BC blog module that is also difficult to modify. Please can a blog option be added as a widget or some other way of direct integration into Muse? Seems a really big gap. While it is possible to embed an external blog into Muse, this is really not ideal.
Any hope that this functionality is on the horizon?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Blog Search bar diappears

I made a blog and on iWeb int he archive there is a search button but once published and uploaded to my host (godaddy) via ftp it disappears. Is this a feature that is mobileMe specific or something?

Have a look at http://wordpress.com or http://wordpress.org - if you are already uploading your site to a server, then you can load WordPress.org directly onto your server and your blog will come up after your domain name - it is a more customisable option rather than WordPress.com.
Also take a look at http://www.posterous.com.  This is another blogging option.
If you want to continue to use the iWeb blog, then you can have a look at other commenting systems that you can incorporate when you upload - http://www.intensedebate.com - you can add this to an iWeb blog or you can also take a look at http://www.widgetbox.com and see what they have there that can also be incorporated.
    You have plenty of options.

  • Blogging: Which Approach?

I've had an iWeb site for about five months now and I've decided that I want to add a blog to it. Specifically, I want to make that the home page. I have something resembling a blog now, except it lacks one of the key elements: comments.
I searched through the forums for various ideas and I couldn't settle on anything. I tried following the directions at http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWeb_Blogging.html for how to use Wordpress.org (not .com) to create a blog in the site, but my HTML knowledge is pretty much nonexistent, and I got totally lost. I tried creating a blog with Wordpress.com and then using an HTML Snippet to embed it in the site, but that just seemed to mess up the whole layout, since I'm basically sticking an entire other page onto the one that's there. Finally, there's the iWeb blog option, but since I don't have a MobileMe account and I can't have comments without it, there's no point.
So, iWeb experts, I'm wondering what I can do to (or if there's anything I can do) to make a fully-functioning blog right in my iWeb site. All ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Patrick:
I can't recommend any particular blogging site to use but when you do find what you want to use you can embed it into an iWeb page like the example in this demo page: Embed One Site Within an iWeb Page.

  • Importing a blog

Simple question: I have an existing blog created with a different application. It supports various RSS feeds. It has an "export blog" option.
Can a create an iWeb blog and "import" my old blog, preserving all the archived posts there?

No Ben you cannot import anything into iweb. It can only edit things that are in the domain file.
Could you keep your old blog and just provide a line with previous archive or something like that and put a link to it.
If your new blog is more attractive people won't mind. (I wouldn't I would praise you for making the experience better).

  • Can't add groups or users to the wiki

I've found a few threads on this, but none of them have presented a solution.
    Setup:
XServe with Leopard 10.5.4 on it.
    Advanced mode.
    Problem:
Under the Server Admin panel, if I add a user or group to have Wiki and Blog permissions, if I click save, the user and or groups do not stay in the list. And on the site they do not have wiki or blog options. The group/user vanished.
If I try to enable wiki and blog options for a group under the "basic" tab in Workgroup Manager, all options are disabled (i.e. - "Enable the following services for this group on: (None)" is disabled.
    The DNS is set appropriately.
The machine is (correctly) set for Open Directory - Stand Alone server.
Here is an interesting addition to the problem.
1.) Through the System Admin panel, if I add a user to the wiki permission list, and click save
2.) Open a broswer over the System Admin panel (without navigating to anywhere else in System Admin) and log in to the local wiki
3.) The "groups" button is enabled, but the "users" button is not.
    4.) Click on "groups"
5.) Now the "users" button is also enabled.
    6.) Go to "Users"
7.) Select "create a blog" and enter my username and password.
8.) Give my blog a name.
9.) Now the blog shows up under the Users list.
10.) Open my blog in the users list.
11.) Create a new blog entry.
12.) Go back to System Admin panel, navigate anywhere else, and then return to the wiki settings for the appropriate site, the user and or groups are gone once again.
13.) Go back to the web broswers and pull up the local wiki.
14.) "groups" will be enabled. "users" will be disabled.
    15.) Click "groups"
    16.) "Users" is now enabled.
    17.) Click on "users"
18 a.) Often a 404 page appears, or a wiki page that is pure text (no html).
18 b.) Refresh the page, and now the normal list of user blogs appears.
19.) Click on the blog I created previously.
20.) Viola! It is completely usable and viewable, but the User will NEVER appear as having permissions under the Web options in Server Admin.

    @ Pope7
    Hi
The machine is (correctly) set for Open Directory - Stand Alone server
If this is truly what is says then whatever you are trying to achieve won't happen. The Server has to be an OD Master and users and groups need to exist in the LDAP node. Wiki, Blog and iCal will not be available as services until you you do this.
    The DNS is set appropriately
The foundation for a successful Open Directory Master offering LDAP and SSO is DNS. Don't confuse an external DNS service with an internal one that the server will require. You don't have to configure DNS on the server itself just as long as it is configured on another server on the same network will do.
    @ simonblackledge
    Hi
Using DM to make a group. Goto the tab for services and everything ..wiki etc.. is ghosted out
What's DM? If you are not seeing an option to enable calendaring in the Users Advanced Tab or similar options for Wiki, Blog etc in the Groups Tab then either you are in the Local node in which case these services won't work or your Server is not configured as an OD Master. Same advice applies to you really.
The admin manual although poor does clearly state what's required:
    http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/iCalService_Admin_v10.5_2ndEd.pdf
You should download this one as well:
    http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/OpenDirectory_Admin_v10.5_2ndEd.pdf
Finally there is a requirement for clients to be bound to the Server for this to be truly effective. Use Directory Utility found in /Applications/Utilites to achieve this.
If I'm telling you something you already know then please accept my apologies.

  • A new Bug Found

    Hi Mr. Steve,
I am using your example from your blog "Optional Required Fields" and i have noticed the following behaviour.
You have a table with 4 columns, Id, RowType, ValueA and ValueB.
Id and RowType is mandatory and ValueA and ValueB are not (they are forced to be mandatory by the selection of the RowType.
I created a sequence ("Test_Seq") so to populate the Id. I overriden the create method in the TestEntityImpl.java to populate the Id automatically:
    protected void create(AttributeList attributeList) {
    super.create(attributeList);
    SequenceImpl sequence = new SequenceImpl("TEST_SEQ", getDBTransaction());
    this.setId(sequence.getSequenceNumber());
I then create a jspx and dragged the TestEntities View as an ADF Creation Form.
I deleted the RowType and dragged it again as a selectOneRadio, with two static values (A and B).
In the valueChange listener i created a bean and incuded the following code so that it will not force the validate method before a selection is made:
    public void RowTypeChanged(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) {
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestMap().put("RowTypeChanged","x");
I then opened the Page Definition xml file for my page and inside the binding i created an attribute value for the RowType that i have deleted earlier.
In the controller class i specified the "view.util.ConditionalValidationPageController".
By the way, i dragged your updateTest() method onto my submit button to commit the transaction.
When i run the page, everything works fine. Conditional validation works.
However, i don't want to have the Id input text enabled, so i disabled it (becuase it is populated automatically by the sequence).
When i run the page, and select a value for RowType and have the other fields empty (ValueA and ValueB), instead of showing me the error, the form goes into edit mode, bringing the last record. VERY STRANGE.
Can you please give me a solution into how i can overcome this?
    Thank you
    Antonis

Please email me a JAR file of the version of my demo that reproduces the problem along with the exact steps to reproduce the problem. I don't have time this week to reproduce the issue myself from scratch, but you if can help me out by doing that, it will make it easier to diagnose.
** Please remove the two large *.jar files from ./ViewController/public_html/WEB-INF/lib to make the JAR file you send me smaller.
    Thanks.

  • Dynamic Text for data series ?

Hi, is posible setting dynamic text in data series when use dynamic value ?
We need show Actual Year value and Last Year value in Label for Series.
    Thank you.

This is not possible unless you have enhancement pack 1 for visual composer which I think is still in rampup...
Here is the enhancement noted in the article below.
    Taken from blog:
Option to dynamically define element titles
For chart views, form views, table views, HTML views, nested iViews and popup iViews (popup signal), you can now define dynamic titles using the Expression Editor. A new (ellipsis) button to the right of the field in the Configure Element task panel displays the Title Editor dialog box, in which you enter either or define a custom expression.
