Blue screen on ipod

why does my ipod show a blue screen? i was trying to update but my internet connection was disconnected and i tried to turn it back on and it still shows a solid blue screen, what should i do?

Let the battery drain. After charging for an hour, try the reset (both buttons) and conneting to computer and try to restore through iTunes.

  • Computer goes to blue screen when ipod plugged in.

I have tried all angles on this and still haven't been able to figure out.  Can somebody please offer some new knowledge?  I have tried some older suggestions awithout resolution.  Here is what is happening using Windows 7/lastest updated itunes and ipod 80g classic:
My ipod was completely erased after trying to update through itunes as i normally do.  Now when i plug ipod into the itunes, it will not be recognized in the left column and after about 3 minutes my entire computer will go to blue screen and reboot itself.  I have tried restoring, checked diagnostics on ipod.  I think I may need some more info on opening itunes in safe mode and beginning from there, however I'm open for any other suggestions/links.  Thank You

First off, have you made sure your Windows OS is up to date with all the latest patches and updates?  Have you also checked with your PC's manufacturer (such as Dell, Toshiba, etc) to make sure you have all the latest drivers, firmware and BIOS installed?
Does the PC ever blue screen when the iPod is NOT connected?

  • How do you fix blue screen on ipod touch

how do you fix the blank blue screen on an ipod touch?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Windows Blue Screen Error Message Appears As Soon As IPod Connected

Everytime I connect my IPod to my computer, I get the Windows Blue Screen error message. Thought it was the cable, so plugged cable in by itself. No problem. Uninstalled IPod and ITunes software and then plugged in IPod, still got the Blue Screen. The Blue Screen says something about "recent plugged in device problem". It is not the cable, it must be the IPod. Did not have this problem when I bought it. Tried it on labtop and get the same error message. I can't do updater or anything that requires me to plug the IPod into a computer because the Blue Screen appears immediately. When I unplug, the Blue Screen remains and locks up the computer so I have to restart each time. I have tried everything I can think of. Please help.

Hi Mike thank you for replying,
I am not able to start the computer in safe mode, safe mode with networking, last good known configuration etc, Each time it quickly blue screens and restarts about two secs into the process.
I was unable to try a clean OS install from the disk as it gave the blue screen error shown in the original post. The same thing happened when I tried to use the repair option on the XP home disc. So i can't get into the computer at all to start diagnosing the fault, the only clue I have is the error message, and after searching the internet I haven't found much enlightenment from that yet.
If you can help me out or suggest where to search it would be much appreciated.
    Thx

  • Blue Screen when syncing IPOD

I have been perusing the threads and I am beginning to see some common problems with a few others out there. The Blue screen STOP messages seem to be happneing to others.
I have tried everything including updating windows with the newly released patch today.
Do any of you "experts" out there think that this problem might have to do with the recent windows vulnerability and the long awaited patch released today?
There are lots of news reports out there indicating that this particular windows flaw was very critical and my problems started right about the time the flaw was recognized.
I restored my IPOD as suggested with the 5 R's and now I am bummed because my IPOD is empty and I finally got my PC to recognize the IPOD but everytime I resynch all of my 37 gigs of MP3s to my IPOD, my PC crashes after about 100 MP3s and gives me the Stop message and this error string -
    STOP: 0x0000007E (0x0000005, 0xDF1BA804, 0xF89FB89C, 0xF89FB598)
    Can anyone please help us?
    thanks
    Zep

Not sure I'd care to be called an expert (or even an "expert").
As the discovery of this "flaw" coincided with the onset of your problem I rather doubt it is the cause, since the flaw must have existed before it was discovered. Blue screens are often (but not always) caused by broken drivers or memory problems. If your OS is generally stable, then it does tend to point towards some sort of a driver issue. It seems to me that the 5R's tends to focus attention on the iPod (I guess apple presume that the OS is OK or they just don't want to go there!). Some people might argue that no (normal) device you attach to the comp should cause it to crash, but that is rather academic for you right now. My suspicion is that it is a problem with the comp - well a device driver or memory. Another possibility is that there is more than one problem - and whichever problem happens first triggers the other.
I doubt if the latest Microsoft patches will fix your problem - but who knows! I'd download and run a decent memory test program (e.g. Memtest86) and make sure you eliminate that as a cause. Are you in a position to attempt a restore? That might be worth considering. Otherwise, try doing a complete uninstall of iTunes and the IPod software and starting over. As a last resort you might need to consider re-installing windows.
I guess you've already done all of the obvious comp things (like running chkdsk). Have you, or are you able to test the iPod on a different comp?

  • IPod touch 4G causes windows 7 to blue screen when connecting to iTunes

Wife bought me a new iPod Touch 4G for Christmas. A few days ago it started to cause my Windows 7 (64bit) to blue screen randomly while connected or sometimes when I first connected it.  Did a Windows re-install and crashes Windows each time I connect it. It is not the USB port as other devices work fine through all my USB ports. I do load various apps on the iPod several times a day. And it is also bluetooth'd to my wireless wifi switch (same network as my PC). ITunes program on PC is latest version. Anyone have a clue on this one?

  • Ipod crashes windows (blue screen of death)

Hi all. A bit of background info:
A couple of months ago the hard drive crashed on my friends computer. They had to reinstall their OS. Thankfully they had made backups of most everything and were able to get most things reinstalled successfully.
Now they are using a 15g ipod connected through a firewire port on an HP laptop. They do not have a USB adaptor, so gotta go with the FW.
Anyway, when they connect the ipod the computer completely crashes to the blue screen of death and does the physical memory dump. There is an error message, something along the lines of a driver issue.
I know this is vague information, but any pointers on how to proceed in troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated, thanks
    Frost

    hi Frostine!
Anyway, when they connect the ipod the computer completely crashes to the blue screen of death and does the physical memory dump. There is an error message, something along the lines of a driver issue.
we can sometimes narrow this down a bit by checking on the numerical and text codes showing up with the blue screen. (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm checking on:

  • Windows Vista Crashing When Ipod is Plugged In. Blue Screen of Death?

A week ago, my computer suddenly started to reboot whenever I plugged my 5th generation 80 gig Ipod in to sync. A blue screen will pop up, and automatically restart.
I do not believe this is the blue screen of death that appeared 2 months ago. I have upgraded to Itunes 8.0.1 when it was first released, and I had no problems until a week ago. I haven't heard of anyone receiving the blue screen of death since the update to Itunes 8 was released.
I have also lost all of my music from my Ipod, so I am anxious to figure this out.
Here is what the blue screen (certain passages paraphrased, the specifics were copied directly):
A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
    BADPOOLHEADER
If this is the firs time you've seen this stop error screen, restart yoru computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Make sure all hardware and software is properly installed
If it continues, disable/remove any newly installed hardware and software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shawoding. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 for Advanced Sartup options, then select safe mode.

  • Blue screen when re-opening iTunes 9.0.3 w/ iPod Classic already plugged in

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or something similar.
I have already reported this as a potential bug to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
This is regarding iTunes 9.0.3.15 for Windows
Potential bug: Windows blue screen (SYSTEMSERVICEEXCEPTION) when re-opening iTunes with iPod Classic 120GB already plugged into USB port.
I have been able to replicate this problem twice now. Here are the exact steps:
    1. Plug iPod Classic 120GB (bought new in November 2008) into a USB port and iTunes opens and syncs (I have it set to manually manage my iPod).
    2. Use iTunes for a bit, then click the eject icon next to my iPod in iTunes (when it's not syncing) but leave iPod plugged into the USB port (to charge).
    3. Close iTunes and use Internet Explorer for a few minutes and close Internet Explorer (with no other apps running).
    4. Open iTunes. iTunes connects to iPod (iPod screen shows "Connected").
    5. Scroll through the iTunes Music Library in List view, click any music file and a Windows Blue Screen appears (SYSTEMSERVICEEXCEPTION), does a memory dump and then forces the computer to restart.
So far, the blue screen only occurs under these specific circumstances. I do not know if this problem existed before iTunes 9.0.3.15 as I have never tried the above steps in earlier versions. I just happened to be able to retrace my steps to notice the blue screen problem in 9.0.3.15
This is the first time I have ever encountered a Windows Vista blue screen error in the year and half I have used Vista.
I am running Windows Vista SP1 64-bit on an HP Pavilion dv7-1014ca notebook.

I've gotten the exact same error message and problem... When I connect my iPod Nano 3Gen, iTunes comes up -- syncing begins -- and then immediately triggers a blue screen with the SystemServiceException error and a crash dump is generated. I have been unable to find a resolution in 3-4 weeks of searching, including HP Technical Support, trolling the Windows 7 Support sites, and now, here. The Advice given by HP was to uninstall all USB drivers and let reboot reinstall them. That didn't work. Then they asked me to reboot my PC, hit F10 until the BIOS came up, and then find and disable the "enable legacy USB" capability -- except that no such setting is available in my BIOS. Obviously it's a driver issue, and just as obviously it's a Windows 7 / iTunes issue -- but no one is offering a solution, yet.

  • Blue screen of death when connecting ipod or running itunes

Please help me, I get the blue screen of death and its down to my itunes/ipod i think.
Uninstalled Itunes (tried doing this in safe mode but it wouldnt let me saying you cant do this) and re-installed it but when try to use it (ipod not connected) my screen either freezes a few moments later or the BSOD appears.
Ive ran a windows disk check and a system mechanic 7 one as well, a few folk on here have said my ipod might need reset but this is happening without the Ipod connected so is still an issue?
My ipod seems to be working fine, obviously i cant even access itunes to reset it or see its status.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Blue Screen when I plug my Ipod Touch 8GB(Late 2009)

When the system goes down,I have to shut pc down from the power button and when I switch my laptop on I receive an error stating that "system has recovered from a serious error " which has signature of:

    C:\DOCUME~1FATIHF~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERffa3.dir00\sysdata.xml
What I have done regarding to try to solve the problem ,but not worked at all:
1-I have uninstalled Itunes ultimate version(iTunes 9.0.3 for Windows XP,Vista or Windows 7) and other Apple related components on my Laptop(apple application support,Apple mobile device support,Apple Software Support,Quicktime etc.)
2- a-I re-installed all components mentioned on step 1 and plugged my Ipod: It works when I plug for first time, then I sync with my audio,art-work folders. Then I unplug my Ipod to listen music and see my Art-work,when I plug my Ipod for 2nd time to my Laptop,it crashes and that same blue screen error occurs.
b- I uninstalled all Apple components and plugged my Ipod to my Laptop,it charges the battery but no blue screen occurs.
3- I reset my Ipod and meanwhile uninstall all Apple components again(exactly like in 1st step) in my laptop, then I re-install all components to my laptop, and follow the same steps as exactly in 2nd step.I plug my Ipod and it works for first time, than I do sync through Itunes again, than I unplug and use my Ipod, when I plug for 2nd time than the same blue screen error appears and laptop crashes.
4- a- I reset my Ipod and Meanwhile uninstalled all Apple components,I re-installed iTunes 8.2.1 for Windows XP,Vista or Windows 7) but the same blue screen occurs.
b- I uninstall iTunes and plugged my Ipod to my laptop,no blue screen occurs.
5- I asked my colleague who has MacBook and plug my Ipod to her MacBook, than open Itunes, but Itunes(iTunes 9.0.3 for Mac OS x) can not see my Ipod as device and I am not able to do anything.
6- I've searched in Apple official websites and Google and many Blogger sites,Fan sites and all other possible technical sites but could not find any solution.
7- I've contacted(phone call) to the Local(Portugal) Support Apple Support Centre and explained all history of the problem clearly. But they could not help me,they advised the same possible solutions which I've already done and they said that they can not do more. And than they gave me a support mail address to contact.([email protected])
8- I've sent an email to [email protected], 2 days later they've answered me with the information that they are phone based support therefore they not provide me support.
Basically I am not able to import or export anything to/from my ipod, anyway all windows is going down.
It is first time I buy Apple product. My friends who have Apple products were generally positive about them, and I was thinking to by a MacBook as well, but after this problem I got doubts and I am not satisfied and happy at all. Since days I am trying to find solutions and find the exact support contacts to get helped with this problem. But could not reach any information. Now I don't have any positive Idea about Apple products or support service.I went to the Techno-Market which I bought the Ipod to change with an Iphone or at least try to have my money back if not possible to swap it with Iphone, but they've told me that it has been more than 15 days and they can not swap it or refund it,even if it was possible they would not refund it because the very sensitive backside of Ipod has some small but visible scratches.
Anyway I can see the difficulty of having Apple product, having support of product and finding the right contacts to communicate is not easy and I would really be very happy if anyone could change this idea of mine with helping me out to use my Ipod with peace and without any other problem.
As you can see,I spent a lot of money to buy it and spent days to find solution to my problem and spent a lot of energy to find right Apple Support contacts to help me with my problem. And I am not able to use my product as I wish.
Please advise me regarding to solve my problem. I hate to deal with courts and other legal ways to take action in those kind of cases. But if not of course it will be my last option to do it so.
I am waiting an answer, please try to answer me as soon as you have an answer for me.
    Thanks In advance
    Best Regards
PS:If you provide me an email address which I can send all print screens and full blue screen error message .txt I'll contact you soon after receiving your contact.

Have you tried the following document, kohida?
[What to do when Windows displays a blue screen error message or restarts when syncing the iPhone or iPod touch|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1502]

  • When i take photos or videos on my ipod touch with the camera, then i plug it into the computer to sync, the computer shuts down and this blue screen comes up saying "an error has occured" and a heap of other stuff.

When i take a photo or a video using the camera on my ipod touch, the computer (windows xp) shuts down and a blue screen comes up saying "an error has occured" and a heap of oth stuff in white. It doesn't wipe the memory or anything off the ipod. Whenever i sync my ipod without photos or videos it works fine. It also doesn't mind me taking photos off itunes to put on the ipod. I have had a look around and a couple of people say reinstall itunes, but i don't know if i will lose all my songs and apps. Any suggestions of help?

Removing all Apple related software and reinstalling iTunes should bring all needed drivers back: Removing iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Also check for new driver updates for Windows, especially if you have a webcam installed.
iTunes Store purchases or songs imported from CDs are saved in your My Music folder by default and are not deleted by removing iTunes. While it is highly unlikely that you will lose any contents of your iTunes Library when following these steps, it is always a good idea to ensure that your iTunes library is backed up. If you're unsure how to backup, see iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive.

    See Here for
    Frozen or unresponsive iPod touch
    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
    Restart..  Reset..  Restore...
Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the iPod Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... (But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the iPod On...
If that does not help... See Here:
