Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and bluetooth 4.0?

I have a headset (plantronics M50) and use it with Iphone 4 (Bluetooth 2.1+EDR). Now, this device cannot communicate with my new Iphone 4s (bluetooth 4.0).
Anyone can help me out ? or should I gave up?

  • Inel 24 and Bluetooth printer hook-up

Hi, just got my machine and want to buy a new printer. I thought as it has bluetooth 2.0 +EDR and Airport extreme (LOL, have no idea what either does and why EDR etc. is better than let's say no EDR) that I could, should, take advantage and try to get a wireless printer. How does this work exactly? Will any Bluetooth printer work and does it hook up easily? Do they work as well as a normal USB hookup speed-wise? Any help appreciated. Got the wireless keyboard and mouse so i thought I'd continue in the theme if possible. A friend was saying i need a router to hook up to my modem for tv, telephone, cable internet... thought the mac could do it all itself.
    Thanks in advance.
    M

You will want to first configure the printer plugged into the computer via usb.
Once its setup print a test page to confirm it works.
From there you will want to plug the printer into the airport express then add it as a printer in your printer and fax prefrences under system prefrences.
Let me know if your sucessful.

  • The PC Suite is not connecting with bluetooth.

Neither PC Suite nor Ovi Suite identifies the bluetooth module on my laptop. The bluetooth module that I have is Motorola v2.1 EDR, and the OS installed is Windows 7 32 bit.
My bluetooth module works fine. Windows is able to communicate to my mobile over bluetooth.  I can browse my 5800XM phone on windows explorer via bluetooth without problem.
    Whereas
In PC Suite, if I try to get connected via bluetooth, I get the following error message "Cannot use the connection type. Check that all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available."
In Ovi Suite, I will get Bluetooth option disabled.I have tried all the setting of the bluetooth device. I tried enabling bluetooth serial port also. But it didn't help. I have tried enalbling the Bluetooth network adapter also. But no help.

Hi as per supported Bt list your driver is not supported by Nokia. I am not sure this could be the problem.

  • Disable bluetooth Secure Simple Pairing (ssp)

    Hi,
I have an old Bluetooth headset (Z-W88), which cannot be paired in Windows 7 - it shows a code and it asks me to compare it to the one on the headset. No
matter how I respond to the question (yes or no), the pairing fails.
I figured it out that my headset does not implement / miss-implement other authentication than PIN authentication.
In Windows XP, which does not provide support for Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and Secure Simple Pairing, I was able to use the headset without any problem.
In Ubuntu 12.04, initially I had the same authentication problem. But after I executed the command "hciconfig hci0 sspmode 0", I was able to connect
    the headset.
My question is how can I do the same thing in Windows? How can I disable the Secure Simple Pairing Mode? I couldn't find any option in the Bluetooth settings.
I searched in the registry, but still nothing. I wrote a C++ program in which, in the Bluetooth authentication callback, I set/force the authMethod member of the BLUETOOTH_AUTHENTICATE_RESPONSE structure to BLUETOOTH_AUTHENTICATION_METHOD_LEGACY and
pass it to BluetoothSendAuthenticationResponseEx function. Still nothing.
Initially I've posted this question on "Devices and Drivers" topic from Microsoft Community (answers.microsoft.com), but a Microsoft support engineer suggested me to post it here.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Marius78,
I don't know why a engineer redirect you here, it is the wrong forum for your kind of question. This forum talks about "using Windows Forms controls and features", which is a technology based on .NET Framework and not related to your device.
For how to disable what you mentioned with some options, please consult on
Microsoft Community as you have already posted.
For how to program an application, you can try post this question to some device develop or C++ forums.
I think you can consult this issue here
    http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=whatforum to get a direction.

  • MacBook not pairing with Bluetooth Audio Sink Typhoon

I did not have success trying to get my MacBook to pair with a Typhoon Bluetooth Audio Receiver Set (http://www.typhoon.de/en/art.php?p=1523&pv=3 ).
The Typhoon device claims to be a A2DP-SNK (stereo audio sink) .
My MacBook (10.4.8 up to date, with a Bluetooth-MightyMouse) Bluetooth-Assistant finds it in "Search-all"-Mode and labels it as "BT Receiver", and also finds it if I search for Headsets alone.
But after that, it just sits there and "collects additional information.", which "should take only seconds".
There is no timeout on this, no error message is given either.
Actually, with this Audio-Receiver came an Audio-Transmitter (a USB-BT-Dongle). Connecting this with a MacBook USB-Port does not result in any reaction of the machine.
The BT-Dongle should be able to do most BT-profiles, including GAP,SPP,HSP,HID and A2DP.
The System.log does not show anything, except for a "kernel[0]: (3795: ps)tfp: failed on 0:" happening every 3 seconds continually.
I'm hoping for any ideas... Or should I dump this device?
Did anyone of you get an audio-sink (with Line-Out) working with OSX?
    Thanks,
    visioneer7
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I've just found out that my Macbook's Bluetooth spec is Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and my keyboard's Bluetooth is 3.0. Would this be of any issue?

  • NO BLUETOOTH, NO STORAGE DEVICE, NO SYNC WITH OUTL...

What future are we talking about here ?
Wifes birthday today, gifted her a LUMIA 610, wanted to transfer our year old son snaps & SHOCKED to know there aint any bluetooth support or the phone doesnt act as a storage device.
Feeling robbed & cheated, hope we get some kinnda support from NOKIA.
For sure not recommending LUMIA phones to anyone in the near future.
    SAD & UNETHICAL

    Hi FRREDOM,
Thanks for the feedback, I'll try and answer your questions/remarks as best as possible
    1) Bluetooth use only for headset
    This is not unique to Windows Phone and well documented. In Windows Phone SAP and FTP are not implemented. Windows Phone supports Bluetooth audio (EDR) and connection profiles for use with a carkit (PBAP, HSP, HFP). Here is the complete list of supported profiles;
    A2DP 1.2, AVCTP 1.0, AVDTP 1.0, AVRCP 1.0, AVRCP 1.3, GAVDP 1.2, HFP 1.5, HSP 1.1, PBAP 1.0, RFCOMM 1.0
    2) Unable to connect as mass storage.
Also well documented. Actually you have at least 7GB of shared storage available to both the phone and other devices through SkyDrive
    3) Song to ringtone not available.
There are multiple apps available in marketplace which will allow you to setup songs as ringtones. Also creating your own is clearly explained here.
    4) No memory card slot.
This is well documented and not unique to Windows Phone
    5) Poor camera for a 5 MP, bad resolution.
There are several settings which will influence image quality. Also you may want to install the Camera Extras app from marketplace which will give you additional features and settings.
    6) No Java Support.
While Windows Phone does not support using JAVA natively there are options available like WebORB. Also this is not unique to the Windows Phone platform.
    7) No business card option.
This is available through the Contacts Share app
    8) No internal voice recorder app.
A number of alternatives can be found in marketplace
    9) Zune software restriction ( not user friendly)
Which restrictions would you refer to here?
    10) No Skype support, strange in these times of tech savvy age.
Skype for Windows Phone. Due to hardware restriction of the Lumia 610 this app is not available for it at this time though. This is well documented and relates to the Lumia 610 being an entry level Windows Phone device.
    11) 1300 amp battery, doesn't sustain full day when used for internet.
Having a constantly active internet connection would require a relative large amount of energy, this is not unique to WIndows Phone or the Lumia 610.
    12) No flash or silverlight support.
Not unique to Windows Phone. Flash is no longer being developed for mobile devices.
    13) Alarm does'nt work if cell switched off.
If a device is switch off it is not possible to use the alarm. If you refer to other Nokia devices (Sx0/Symbian) these devices do not switch off, but go to a sleepmode when you 'turn off'.
    14) Not the least, cannot be upgraded to windows 8.
This has been well documented, but will however not impact the functionality of the Lumia 610 in any way. Windows Phone 8 is a new mobile OS which main functions and enhancements over Window Phone 7.x will require hardware not available on the Lumia 610. Windows Phone 7.5 will receive an update to version 7.8 after Windows Phone 8 is released which will include at least the new start screen options.
Lastly, the Lumia 610 syncs with your Outlook contacts and calendars in real-time through your Microsoft Account. You will find more information on this in this post.
Hope this helps, feel free to post any additional questions you may have.

  • Using US ipad in the UK and buying iphone 4 in the US to bring back to UK

I am thinking of buying a ipad 2 in the US when I visit there to bring back to the UK. I will then be heading home to Australia next year. Can someone help me to confirm:
    1) is there any issues (eg power differences, adaptors, getting wifi set up) buying an ipad in the US and then using it in the UK? Do I just need to get a UK Sim (can you get a prepaid sim for ipads rather than locking into a contract?) I was going to buy the 16gb wifi on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MC769LL-Tablet-Black-NEWEST/dp/tech-data/B0013FRNKG/ ref=de_a_smtd, this seems to be pretty much the same spec as the US version on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MC769LL-Tablet-Black-NEWEST/dp/tech-data/B0013FRNKG/ ref=de_a_smtd only difference I can see is the UK version says '
Wireless Connectivity: 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR' and the US version says '
    Wireless Type: 802.11abg '
    2) I presume if there's no issues for 1), then there shouldn't be any issues when I return to Australia.
    3) Is it possible to buy the iphone 4 handset in the US and then use it in the UK?
    thanks guys

If you are getting the wifi ony version then you don't need a sim card - you only need a micro-sim card for the 3G/wifi versions. If you do get a 3G version in the US then get the AT&T version as they are GSM/sim based; the Verizon model is CDMA based and doesn't use sim cards.
    Wifi is the same.
I don't know whether the iPhones are locked or not.

  • A review of Jabra A320s and BT620s on 10.4.6

Well, I tried the Jabra BT620s Bluetooth wireless headset today in Akihabara, Tokyo. It comes bundled with a small cradle that fits any standard iPod (not Mini, Nano, etc.) and adds BT stereo to the iPod BUT the cradle is NOT a Jabra product. You can navigate the iPod menus directly from the BT620s and the stereo sound was good judged against the bustle of a busy Tokyo street. The headset can also be paired with a BT mobile phone and auto-interrupts when a call comes in.
I was more interested in using it for Skype work on an iBook. I took along an old dual USB iBook without BT and a recent DLink DBT-120 adapter (the only external adapter recommended by Apple). It seems the DLink does not support stereo even with the latest firmware upgrade (thanks Apple!) so there was an immediate error when pairing with the BT620s. I then tried the Jabra A320s BT dongle, which does support BT version 2.0 with stereo and EDR, and of course there are no drivers in 10.4.6 for it so no headset support (thanks again Apple and Jabra!).
If you have a later model Mac with built-in BT version 2.0 and EDR, it might work with the BT620s but I am not sure that the Apple implementation of built-in BT supports the stereo headset profile, so buyer beware.
The BT620s build quality is nice. It is light, has lots of control and the battery life is long but without assured OS X support, it is not worth the risk of purchasing at 19,800 yen.
Can anyone tell me whether the BT620s works well with their later model PowerBook or MacBookPro, etc., with built-in BT version 2.0?

    Hi, Robert —
    Interesting comments. Thanks.
You're correct that Apple's Bluetooth implementation doesn't include the A2DP profile designed for stereo headphones... yet. Is that what you're referring to? But there have been reports of success using some 3rd-party Bluetooth adapters that do support A2DP for this objective. Here's an example.

  • Which is better bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology and edr wireless technology ? which is better between the two ?

i saw in the tech specs that macbook air has "bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology" while macbook pro has "bluetooth 2.1 + edr wireless technology". what's the difference ? and which one is better ?

Bluetooth 4.0 is the later standard. You can read up on it here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth#Bluetooth_v4.0
Whether Bluetooth 4.0 is "better" than the earlier version depends entirely on the Bluetooth peripheral you wish to use, but in general, the later version is more desirable since it included all of the older versions' capabilities and adds some new ones. If the peripheral doesn't take advantage of those new capabilities, though, then it won't matter.

  • Windows Vista and Bluetooth v2.0 + EDR

I bought the bluetooth v2.0 + EDR with a laptop that was Windows XP. Recently i have bought a new laptop which is a Windows Vista. The Bluetooth device does not seem to work on this laptop.
I was wondering if anyone could help me with a answer to why this might be.
    Thank you.

    Me too :(
My PCMCIA Bluetooth PC Card is not working anymore with Vista. I've tried all solution even downloaded the new Toshiba Stack Bluetoot driver.
The device bundled with Widcomm software. Work like a charm in XP. I even downloaded the updated driver from Broadcom website.

  • Imac 20" N. American model to be used in Europe

I am having an iMac 20" come from Canada but I would like to know if they absolutely work here in Europe. Apparently there were manufacturing processes/decisions with the iMac G5 that lead those models to fail if plugged in to European sockets.
Of course, we all know that physically the outlets in North America and Europe are different but will the internal power supply handle the different electrical standards?
Can anyone verify, without a doubt, that the North American Intel iMac 20" will absolutely work in Europe, granted I will merely need an adaptor to fit plug into a European outlet.

  • Rate my Rig - PrePurchase Jitters

Hi all. I'm about to invest a bundle into a new setup for my office (I work in commercial real estate but enjoy dabbling with lots of technologies ranging from programming to video editing) and was hoping to get a bit of advice as to any ways to improve the machine configuration I'd like to purchase. I'm open to any suggestions you may have as to how to get more value from my purchase, whether it be through upgrading or downgrading aspects...without further ado, here is what I'm thinking:
Mac Pro: 'Two 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon' - My gut tells me this is fast enough, based on the how my 2 gigahertz intel imac performs...and the xeon chip is superior as right? Meanwhile I've heard that the quad-core chips really don't offer a big advantage for people who aren't using very specific programs?
2 or 4 gb of ram (I can't decide, what do you think? It costs about $400 to upgrade from 2gb...also is there a good reason why apple doesn't let people order '3 gigs' ?
250GB 7200-rpm drive. I only have 150gb at home and generally don't fill it up often...though isn't 7200rpm kinda slow?
ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (2 x dual-link DVI) [Add $249] - In the future I'd like to get a 2nd 30" ACD so I think this is the best card...though realistically, can this card drive two 30" monitors without getting its *** kicked?
Apple Cinema HD Display 30 Inch - From what I've been able to google, there really isn't anything else on the market that is vastly superior in this size. Supposedly I could save a couple hundred by getting a dell monitor that has basically the same stuff on the inside, but I would prefer to just deal with apple unless someone else has a way better product. I heard lacie might have some wicked monitors, but couldn't find a 30"?
    1 Superdrive
    Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and AirPort Extreme
Absolutely any advice on any of these components would be most appreciated!

"Mac Pro: 'Two 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon' - My gut tells me this is fast enough, based on the how my 2 gigahertz intel imac performs...and the xeon chip is superior as right? For non-server based applications I believe that the 8-core computer will not give you a very good bang for the buck, so this is probably a smart decision. [If you find that you need to in the future -- I suspect that you can replace the Xeon-Quad chips when they are available on the street (hopefully at a lower price).
"2 or 4 gb of ram (I can't decide, what do you think? It costs about $400 to upgrade from 2gb...also is there a good reason why apple doesn't let people order '3 gigs' ?"
I agree with the previous poster, 2-2G modules for this computer (ECC) are available from Crucial.com at just over $300 dollars - I have bought many many modules from Crucial and I have NEVER had any problem with them.
"250GB 7200-rpm drive. I only have 150gb at home and generally don't fill it up often...though isn't 7200rpm kinda slow?"
7200 SATA drives are the typical "high-end" for desktop computers, 10K SATA drives are available -- but are typically very expensive (and hotter -- which may cause a problem if the case was not designed to deal with the additional heat. If you doing a lot of reading/processing/writing, it is probably more cost effective to add more memory (assuming the application can take advantage of it).
"ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (2 x dual-link DVI) Add $249 - In the future I'd like to get a 2nd 30" ACD so I think this is the best card...though realistically, can this card drive two 30" monitors without getting its * kicked?"
For most applications, this card should be sufficient for two monitors. If you are not buying the second monitor right away (anyway), you will probably be able to get a higher power card in the future -- which will cost less -- than buying the highest end card now.
"Apple Cinema HD Display 30 Inch - From what I've been able to google, there really isn't anything else on the market that is vastly superior in this size. I would still recommend a Dell monitor, Dell just refreshed their monitors with a higher-colour edition of the 30" monitor (I have not seen any new releases from Apple). I use the Dell monitors and I am very happy with them (even before the refresh).

  • Have a question ??????

    Hello,
I'm new here and excited about purchasing my new apple mac pro. I do alot of photo editing and web designs on my spare time, and really use all the adobe suites. My question is, I use two or three programs going at the same time and I don't want the computer to slow down cause of it, will this set-up to good for me:
    Mac Pro
    Part Number: Z0D8
Both Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and AirPort Extreme
Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple wireless Mighty Mouse - U.S. English
    One 16x SuperDrive
    Accessory kit
    Two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    2GB (4 x 512MB)
    250GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
    Mac OS X - U.S. English
    ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (2 x dual-link DVI)
Please let me know cause, I have never owned a mac before.
    Thanks

Yes...more RAM. I got my Mac Pro with 2X1G I immediately added another 2X1G and, later, another 4X1G for a total of 8G with a 1G stick in each slot. This seems to be a "sweet spot" for the Mac Pro. I am running the Adobe CS3 "Web Preimum" suite + InDesignCS3 and these apps sing on the Mac pro with 8G of RAM.

  • How can I flash my Windows Mobile 6.5.3 ROM to Firefox OS?

Hello. I am the very last user running Windows Mobile 6.5.3, the old and abandoned operating system by Microsoft. As a Mozilla's enthusiast, I am really interested in using Firefox OS, however I can't find any ways to install such OS into my phone. May I know any guide on how to put Firefox on my Sony Ericsson Aspen?
    Device specifications are as follows:
    - Sony Ericsson Aspen
    - Running Windows Mobile 6.5.3 (Original OEM ROM)
    - Qualcomm MSM7227 CPU
    - ARM11 with the speed of 600MHz
    - 256MB RAM
    - Flash size is 512MB
    - Data Bus 32bits
    - Internal Storage 267.39MB
    - Display is QVGA (320x240)
    - Colors 65536
    - Bluetooth is 2.0 with EDR and A2DP
A very professional ROM flasher is very welcomed to give me guidelines on how to achieve this. Thank you.
