BO Mobile - Not referring to latest instance

Customer wants that his users should be able to view the latest report instance of Web-I and Desk-I documents in their respective report folders when logging in through the Blackberry.
BOE Version installed at customer's location: XI R2 SP3
OS on BOE Server: WINDOWS 2003 SP2
CMS Database Type and Version: ORACLE 10G
Application Server installed: TOMCAT
Observed Behavior:
When user logs in to BOE XI R2 through his Blackberry and navigates to the appropriate report document folder, the option to View the Latest Instance or History of a given Desk-I or Web-I report is not available.
I have also gone through the following documents:
- Using BusinessObjects Mobile (XI R2)
- What's New in BusinessObjects Mobile (XI 3.1)
- Using BusinessObjects Mobile (XI 3.1)
- BusinessObjects Mobile Installation and Deployment Guide (XI 3.1)
I have not been able to locate the required options in the above mentioned XI R2 and XI 3.1 documentation. I have also suggested the following workarounds to the customer:
a) schedule the report to "Inbox": customer did not agree to the same as in his case this would generate multiple copies of the same report based on the number of users. Customer has an installed base of 1000 users.
b) schedule the report to "Inbox" send as shortcut: customer did not agree to the same as well because the report needs to be viewed by the senior level executives. Here these users would want to view the latest report instance from the respective report folder.
c) refresh report on demand: customer did not agree to the same because it takes a long time to refresh the data and display the updated report and senior level executive would not be able to wait for that much time.
I would appreciate if anybody could advise on the following:
- any plans to add the above requirement in upcoming release of BOE?*
- any other workarounds (excluding the OpenDoc URL option)?*

Arijit Gupta

if it is outdated, what software should i use to do data driven websites?
Most of us manually code our database driven sites with PHP & MySqli
PHP: Mysqli - Manual
To simplify things a little, you could use one of the freely available PHP frameworks below:
CodeIgniter / EllisLab
High Performance PHP Framework for Web Development - Symfony
Yii PHP Framework: Best for Web 2.0 Development
Laravel - The PHP framework for web artisans.
Frameworks will help shorten your development time but you still need to thoroughly understand code to use them.

  • Object reference not set to an instance of an object on clicking BI Tab

    Hi,
I have installed Oracle BI Publisher Desktop 11.1.1.6.0 for 32 bit Office on Windows XP, Microsoft Word 10.
However, after successful installation, when I open word and click on BI Publisher Tab , it throws error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".
Please help me resolve this setup issue.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
This is a general error message. I would ask the following questions to verify the issue:
    1. Are these charts  inside the table?
    2. Does the table display fine? What’s the size of the report and charts?
Please try download the latest cumulative update package for SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 from the following link and see if it address the issue:

You can also capture the screenshots regarding the issue so that I can understand

  • "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" on loading reports

    Hi,
I get "object reference not set to an instance of an object" for some charts in a report.
    Software: SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 & SharePoint 2010
I have 2 reports each with multiple graphs & tables. The reports are used in SharePoint integrated mode.
3 months back Report1 gave the error for 4 specific charts. After a few days, the error vanished magically & all charts displayed correctly.
I recently deployed Report2 which also contains charts & tables. After a few days, the 1st chart itself would not display throwing this error. I deleted the Report2 from SharePoint and redeployed it. Now the error is shown for 2 charts in between &
I again see the error for the same 4 charts of Report1.
Since deleting and redeploying the Report2, moved the error to a different chart, it does not look like a problem with the chart itself. Please suggest on what I can do further.

  • Firefox29, on a new win7 computer which has never had ff installed, will not install the latest flash plugin from adobe.

I promise to refrain from venting my disgust :-) but when FF 9 blew up the entire web. I had all kinds of issues so I did things like Bill Gates taught us to do. I re-installed windows 7, brand new, formatted HD and all. The very first thing I did was open IE to download FF29 from the mozilla site and it installed. I went to pages I know have fits with flash on purpose, www.nydailynews.com, for instance and got the message that no flash was installed, do I want to install it? Well, yes, I have brand new FF on a brand new computer, so to ahead. Did the usual, installed Flash, shut down, and even rebooted the computer, and golly gee, the web pages tell me I have no flash installed. Its in IE, and of course chrome, and it appears in the installed program control panel, but I can't use flash with FF 29.
I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled win 7, then installed ff 28. Went to adobe and installed their latest flash version, and still no flash in any version of firefox. I also checked the option to never update, but when I rebooted an opend FF29, it miraculously turned into FF29, and of course still does not work with the flash plugin.
I think firefox has had a world of trouble with Adobe Flash for over a year and have hoped for a solution. Basically a browser that cannot run Flash media is totally useless. I wonder why this problem was no addressed and corrected, when instead all the the resources were put into raping my computer and forcing FF29 onto it?
I am not a cry baby, who wants to complain, but will you please fix this issue so I don't have to abandon my favorite browser.. I don't enjoy Chrome, and IE is just not an option for me.
Before you make any moreoverhauls on the UI, could you fix the problems with flash. I find it a little condescending to tell a 25 year user of computers to make sure " you have the latest versions" when in fact I have a brand new install of windows and the very latest from Adobe and Mozilla and they do no wok together, even when I down grade to FF 28, which as I told you, automatically upgrades to FF 29 each time I boot up.
Please help. IF installing the latest Adobe onto a brand new hard drive and install of windows 7 fails, what do you suggest, as the usual " version issue" cannot apply here.
FWIW, I have vista on my laptop with the same problems, the same reinstalls and the same guaranteed latest versions. Since the hd is formtted, there cannot be an residual FF dlls hanging around or in the registry.
I have always seen open source as the way to the future, since the first PC arrived, but its looking like a bad idea.
If you want to build a firefox that works, I will pay for it, so long as I can get help when things break. Browsers are huge in the web, so paying for reliable performance seems like a fair thing to do.
I am sorry, but I am frustrated at the lack of progress towards a solution and really do not wish to be told to see if I am using the latest versions. I have taken every step possible and gone all the way to a brand new machine and FF does not work with flash reliably.
    Help? Please?

adobe test page says it is installed. but I said, some pages I visit say I don't have it installed.
I use prefbar ( I delete it and reinstall to make sure its not an issue) usually because it lets me turn off flash and avoid the crashing and locking up but when I check the flash block on prefbar, it says " plugin is not loaded"
I posted from the machine that does not work, but it does not work on my Vista Laptop, or my daughter's computer either. In all cases, I wiped the drives and reinstalled the OS and went directly to Firefox for 29 and to adobe for their latest.
Flash IS installed on my machine... It works in IE, and Chrome, but firefox 29 does not install the flash plugin, even tho the installer says all is well
The reason I went totally clean is to make sure there was no process blocking it or if Java was creating the issue as well. The reality is, I started with a brand new computer, three times, and Flash will not load into Firefox 29 in any case
I have started clean many times now and backed up and installed ff 28. I had no problem with the flash plugin using ff28, . I would have stayed there, but when shut down ff 28 and opened it later, it "magically downgraded to version 29" and i do mean " downgraded -( even tho I had gone into options and said do not install updates.
I am grateful for your attention. I find that web browsers are very important anymore, an a non functional one makes the web a waste. I mentioned www.nydailynews.com and would really not want to make a long list of every page that demands a flash plugin, for they are legion that I don't have, mostly because when the page wants flash, FF locks up. Its will not even let me copy the URL to try and make a list, but the browser is totally locked up and I have to kill the process I get the message I have been getting for about a year that the shockwave plugin has stopped working. There is no shockwave on my computer.
I know it looks like I have two different problems as the plugin does not load, but for instance, when I got it worrking in FF28, it loaded but constantly crashed an locked up the browser with the shockwave message, even tho I never install shockwave any time
Frustration is the word for the day, or the week :-)
    Thanks much
    Kind regards,
    John

  • Dashboard based on Crystal Report's Latest instances for the logged in user

    Hi,
I am trying design a dashboard based on LiveOffice-crystal report's latest instance for the logged in user. Also there is row level security in the universe on which the crystal reports is created.
In the live office connection i have selected 'latest instance by current user' in the refresh option and published the dashboard to InfoView.
when i open the dashboard in InfoView , i find the row level restrictions being applied for different users. But the data retrived is always on-demand data and not based on the latest instance of the logged in users.
Can anyone throw some light on this issue.

I am experiencing just the same troubles.
    Have you found a resolution?
What I can say, it must be related to .Net installation. Some of my colleagues run the same query and change the variable value without a problem. So this is not a server installation but a client one.
I have reintstalled sap gui, bex, .net , hotfixes - nothing helps. the clue I have, when installing patch GUI710_1-10002995.exe the installation reports an error:
Execute Install on Patch Not Available C:\WINDOWS\SapWksta\setup\SAPsetup.exe StrRemoveOldSapGui -2147467259
    but it doesn't help much((

  • How to hide the view latest instance option for the reports in XIR3

Created an access level and denied the rights "view document instances" and "view document instances that the user owns" in the access level.
Applied this access level for a particular group on a particular folder.
Login to Infoview and when view the history, there are no instances for a particular report under that folder.
But we could still see the 'View Latest instance' option in the properties of the report and when click on it,we are able to view the report.
As per the security assigned, the user should only be able to view the instances owned by him.
Plz help me how to hide the option in INFOVIEW

In 9.3.1 (not sure about 9.2) there is a table in your BIPlus repository which stores preferences/profile information, however, having a user simply log in to WA doesn't appear to automatically create a row for them in this table. (So this may not be a viable solution to your situation, I'm still looking for one myself.) This table stores lots of preference info such as whether or not to show the Main Menu, Toolbar, Masthead, etc. by default.
To hide the View Pane, edit the data in the SHOW_INFO_PANEL column, change it from a 1 to a 0 and for that user the View Pane will not longer appear by default.
    HYA_USER_PREFS
But again, this only works if you already see the user in the table otherwise I guess maybe they have to 'touch' their Preference before it creates an entry in that table. Haven't figured that part out yet, and Support didn't have any information.
If anyone has found a way to maneuver through the table structures I'd love to hear any insight you can offer.
Before you make any changes to the data in this table be sure to take adequate repository backups, and use caution as usual.
I'm going to create a Shared Preference and have each user point to it the first time they log in - but then you lose the ability for each user to have their own personal folder as their default, so it's still not the ideal solution. Really wish there was a way for Admins to set certain prefs. A coworker reminded me under 7.? or 6.x things like View Pane were system-level settings which was easy to control, but now it's at the user level.
    Good luck,
    Karen

  • Unable to view latest instance in BO Infoview XIR2

    Hi,
I am unable to view latest instance in BO Infoview XIR2. Can any one please let me know general procedure to cross check in Infoview or Consol
    Thanks in Aadvance

    Sweety

    Hi Sweety,
What happens if you login as the Enterprise Adminstrator account,  do you get the option to View Latest Instance?
    - What do you mean exactly when you say you cannot view the latest instance?
    - Are you missing the option/context menu or is the incorrect report displaying?
I would suggest working with your Enterprise Administrator to ensure you have sufficient rights to View the latest instances.  However,  if you're not able to select the option check out this SAP Note:

  • Event ID 1502 and 6398 : Translation Service Application is failing to execute. Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

    hi,
We have deployed Sharepoint 2013 in hosting mode. And i followed this
guide. And i have 1 web server, 1 app server and 1  DB server. My Application server is logging 2 critical event after every 15 min.
Event ID: 1502, Task Category: Timer Job, Source: SharePoint Translation Services
"Timer job '735da5fd-a74a-46b8-9a75-70e85d125eb2' for service application 'Translation Service Application' is failing to execute. More information is included below.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object. "
Followed by this one one more critical event,
Event ID: 6398, Task Category: Timer , Source: SharePoint Foundation
"The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.TranslationServices.QueueJob (ID 735da5fd-a74a-46b8-9a75-70e85d125eb2) threw an exception. More information is included below.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
I tried to search everywhere, but no solution. Because of this two critical events AppFabricCaching service is also crashing.
Any suggestion how i can fix this?
    SaM

    Hi  SaM,
According to your error message, it says that the Timer job '735da5fd-a74a-46b8-9a75-70e85d125eb2' for service application 'Translation Service Application' fail to create due to some referred object cannot
be found. For this issue, it can be caused by missing assembly .
Could you please provide detail error message of ULS log  to determine the exact cause of the error?
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS
Here is a blog you can have a look:

  • TS1538 My iPhones are not showing in latest iTunes

I have a couple of laptops as I have 1 for home, and one for travel.
The iTunes for travel is on a Windows 8 laptop
Since the latest version of iTunes, my Asus Windows 8 laptop (which I am travelling abroad for 3 months with) will not recognise either my iPhone 4 or my iPhone 5.
    1) I have checked that the cables are plugged in
    2) I have tried somebody elses cables (usb cords)
    3) I have uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it
    4) I have installed the latest IOS software on both the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5
    5) I have confirmed that the computer is clearly reading BOTH iPhones
    6) I have verified that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    7) I have Verified that the Apple Mobile Devide USB drivers latest drivers are installed
    8) I have checked for third-party software conflicts
    9) I have pressed both the round button and power button to reset the phones
    9) I have turned the phones off and on again
    10) I have restarted the computer
    11) I have reinstalled iTunes
    12) I have wasted time watching youTube videos trying to fix the issue with no avail
    13) I have gone into 'Device Manager' to confirm that the iphone/s are showing (1 at a time) and made sure the latest software is installed
    13) Confirming again that as soon as I plug the iPhone/s in, the computer recognizes them, it is iTunes that won't.
    14) I have the latest iTunes and IOS
I have already read this link, and tried what it said, to no succes
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

I'm sorry I thought I took the time to make my original post super clear
As per point 5) the computer is clearly reading BOTH phones in my computer / device manager / and the desktop when the phones are plugged in and the computer says 'you just plugged in iPhone 4' and 'you just plugged in iphone5'
as per point 13) Device manager is clearly showing both phones
only iTunes is refusing to connect to the phone, or show that either phone is plugged in.
    It is very frustrating.
This clearly shows there is NOTHING wrong with a) the computer, b) the iphones, c) the cables, d) the usb
the problem is in iTunes refusing to find the phones

  • How to config for only "View Latest Instance" is available in infoview ?

    Hi,
The BO version is  "BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0"
The purpose is  in infoview,  for each report user can see, only the feature "View Latest Instance"  is available.
I have tried to set the access right, but at least, the user has below features:
    View
    Properties
    View Latest Instance
    History
    New
    Add
    Organize
Is there any idea to do remove the "View" feature but keep others there ?
    Thanks & regards,
    Forest
Edited by: Forest lin on Dec 5, 2008 12:06 PM

    Hi Forest
I would like to make following suggestion :
The option "View" and can not be removed. It is the primary right to access the Report.
If there is no right "View Objects", Report will not appear in the desired folder.
It is important to have "View Objects" right which will make "View" appear. Once this right is present
rest of the situation for Report can be imagined.
    Regards,
    Hrishikesh

  • View latest Instance Option in Dashboard

    Dear Experts,
Could you please tell me the advantages of VIew latest Instance Option in Live Office Connection in case of every user has different authorizations.
    Please answer the below things.
1)If we create a Dashboard using the View Latest Instance option after scheduling the Report, what are things we have to do so that every user can see the data
    based on his related authorization?
2)If users are more number ,then is the View Latest Instance Option in Live Office Connection is the right option,in case every user have his own Authorzation?
If yes ,how the dashboard ll work for different Users?
3)Users how can see the dashboard in which they should able to see the data related to their Authorization?
Could you please share ideas related to View latest Instance Option?
    Regards,
    Venkat

HI Wolfgang - not sure it's possible. You'd probably have to leverage an alternate scheduling 'destination', i.e. if for instance you schedule to a users Inbox, then they should see the latest instance in their inbox - no right-clicking required to open that. Possibly impractical if separate instance is created for each user - though I'd hope this wouldn't be the case if the report contents are the same for everyone.
    Cheers, Ferdie.

*With the following in your config file, do you still have the issue?*

  • InfoView - Default view latest instance possible?

    Hi,
I have an issue with InfoView, and the opening/viewing of Desktop Intelligence reports.
The report I am talking about is scheduled on a daily basis (each night) so users don't have to refresh it every time they open it.
To view it via InfoView, they have 2 options:
    a) The most usual and logical is to press the main hyperlink, the one which shows the name of the report. This is always showing you the report with the data from when you did a last refresh of it (report is set to not refresh data on open). Seemingly totally ignoring the scheduled instances!
    b) Users can also open via 'View Latest Instance'. This shows the last result(instance) of the last successful schedule of the report.
This is confusing, since I would of course like the users to view the latest version(instance or whatever) of the report in both scenarios a and b.
Is it possible to make the main hyperlink with the name of the report point to the latest instance of the report also?? Or am I wanting too much here???
    Thanks for any help!
    Frode

    Hi Frode,
Yes you can... In the CMC, goto to BusinessObjects Enterprise Applications --> InfoView and the Object Listing property set (1) View the Object or (2) View the latest successful instance of the object.
This is a global setting and affects all users so changing this setting here will make it the default setting for all users. No individual setting is available for a user.
    Regards
    Jacques
