Bom Component qty & WIP Quantity differ at Trget cost calculation

Dear gurus,
i am facing the problem with WIP at target cost calculation in REM.
My issue is
BOM Component qantity is 9.524 TO and price is 2000 then total cost is 9.521*2000=19048.
but in WIP Report kkas in WIP explation it takes input qty 9.52 T0 and price 2000 then total price is 19040.
Difference is 19048 - 19040 =8
and also when i am issuing actual qty i.e 9.524 in BOM then my price is 19048.00 ant at time of variance calculaton then quantaty variance as 9.52.0-9.524.0=-0.04 then 0.004*2000 =-8
Please suggest solution for this.

Hi
Rounding differences between target and actual values and quantities are not unlikely to occur and cannot always be avoided but can be minimized.
Small prices and price unit of 1 are likely to cause more of these rounding differences..
The actual credit is simply calculated as price * quantity. The target credit however is calculated during the variance calculation
and based on the sum of all items in the itemization/cost components of the cost estimate and therefore more accurate.
To avoid this I suggest to store the material price with a larger price unit, i.e. 1000
Std cost release stores price upto 2 decimals and target cost calculation goes upto 3 decimals...
Please check also the note 1265918 for more information to this topic.

• Data entry- bom component qty in decimals

Hi, We need to enter bom component qty with 4 decimal places like 9.0001 mm etc. as the table field structure is set as 3 for decimal places, it is not allowing to enter. Also tried with su01 as well as cuni settings. Please advise is there any way to set the bom component qty in more than 3 decimal places?

Hi
System will allow only upto 3 places after decimal.check in CUNI
can u plz tell me wat is the relevance of 9.0001 mm if your planning is in Metres.it doesnt matter after 3 places of decimal.as per business process.even simple mathematics round off it to 9.0 mm

• BOM Component Qty.

Hi
In Casting Industries the consumption of rawmaterials for furnace is vary for every production. The Consumption is based on availablity of meatal scraps and also cost. How to Craete BOM for this Scenario.

Dear,
Consider the furnace capacity as base quqntity for the BOM. Then define the other components as per requirement in BOM. For the fix componenets and their qty mark that component as fixed quantity in item details. I think maximun variation will be in scrap and rement consumption. For different capacity of furnace you can define different production versions. If you are using REM then this process will work properly in casting production process. Let me know for further requirement.

• Full BOM component qty when follow-up material is effected.

Dear Experts,
How to ensure discontinuation / follow-up is implemented on FULL BOM's
component qty, and not partial.
Example : A requires 3B, and B is follow-up with C upon discontinuation.
Planned order of A should only contain 3B or 3C, not mixture eg. 1B
and 2C etc.
How can the control be implemented ?

Dear Pradeep, Rajesha & all,
Assume BOM of "A" indicates component B qty 10 is follow-up with component C qty 10.
Material B (say, balance 1 qty) is received into Store Y (MRP Relevant). Thus to exclude material B from MRP, we have to manually transfer stock to store X (Not MRP Relevant).
This would mean, we have to perform manual tracking such that this store transfer is done, to force SAP to direct to material C, so that we either accept 10B or 10C in planned order and nothing else.
Not forgetting, I could have another follow-up in another bom such that 1B = 1C. Thus, the material 1B I transfered to store X (Not MRP relevant) can actually be use in this case.
Thus, from BOM explosion, is there a way to control discontontinuation to follow-up, based on full component qty specified in BOM ?
My Setting as follows :
(1) Material Master of "B" : MRP4 specify (a) Discontinuation Indicator "1", (b) effective-out date, (c) Follow-up material "C"
(2) In Bom of "A" (parent of "B") :
- Item "B", indicate discontinuation group "A1"
- Create item "C" and indicate follow-up group "A1" and qty to be follow-up upon B discontinuation.
Thank you for your guidance !

• EXPLODE BOM COMPONENT QTY -REG

Hi abapers,
I am creating a report inwhich showing all BOM components for sale order

• How to handle frequent change of component qty to attain diff spec

Dear all,
My client maniufacture a product (process industry) in different specification ( i.e the components qty used for the process orders vil vary often but components in the BOM will be the same) so wats is the std. way to map this process in sap taking consideration of the product costing part too.
Regards,
Joseph

yes for such scenarios variant configuration is to be used.
you will define Spice A as your product and it will have BCD as your component
Now depending on the order given by customer you will prepare the sales order.
In sales order you will enter the values of the composition (characteristics).
Based on the composition given in Sales Order BOM of Spice A will be exploded and
quantities will be as per the composition.
For this you need to define
Material master (material type- configurable)
Characteristics (Composition)
Classses holding the characteristics.(class type 300)
Dependancies to pull the values in order BOM
config profile.
This will reduce your material codes like Spice A to very considerable Extent.

• BOM component Qty is getting rounded to next value in Process Order and BOM

We are in ECC 6.0, and maintaining BOM where Item quantities are decimal places e.g 0.3lb with respect to Hader qty. Now when we are craeting process order or exploding in CS11, we are seein that item quantities are getting rounded to next full integer e.g 1, 2 or 3.
What could be the reason for this behaviour.

In standard "lb' doesn't have decimal point
If you want decimal point
go to CUNI
select the mass
you can find the lb
maintain the decimal point as 3, & decimal point rounding as as 3, system will show 3 decimal point in process order and in CS11

• Po quantity and Component qty should be same Whildoing Subcontracting PO.

Hello friends
I need to do the following setting.
While doing Subcontracting Purchase Order the Ordered Quantity entered is to be reflect Component Quantity. ( Without entering component qty, automatically ordered qty should come in component qty). The reason is that user should not commit any mistake while doing po.
Where can i control this. Is there any customization setting or Material Master setting.
Please give me suggesition. Urgent.
Thanks and Regards
Sitaram

Hi Sitaram,
As you have maintained the BOM for that material/Plant.
The finished material and components are maintained with the quantities,
When you creating the Subcontracting PO you enter the Material number in the item level
in the material data tab you have 2 options Components and Explode BOM,
If you click the Components the system will ask you to enter the components and their quantity.
If you click the Explode BOM system will pick the components and their quantity from the BOM which is already maintained for that finishing material.
So no need to maintain the quantity manually by Users, if you use explode BOM options.

• BOM Component quantity vs Backflush Component quantity

dear sirs,
shall the 2 kinds of quantities be the same? when running backflush, component list exploded differs from that of BOM.
what is in contact with them in between?
thanks a lot!
Mandy

dear Venugopal,
my question is, provided all master data maintained in place, when running some planned order to backflush, the quantity of component list doesnt match that by diploid in BOM.
Say, material 1 stands 1kg in BOM (on condition of base qty 100kg of Assembly), when backflushing a planned order - 200kg, excluded scrap factor in BOM, the qty of material 1 in component list of backflush table doesnt equals 2kg.
thanks so much for your prompt support!

• Product Costing - CK11N BOM component wrong quantity

Hi,
I have a question regarding Material Cost Estimates. I have a material (Product A) which has a BOM header Qty of 524. One of the Components (Product B) has a Qty of 560. When I run the Cost Estimate for Product A, the component costing list doubles the quantity of Product B, and therefore doubles the cost (this is when I change the report Qty to 524).
The Costing Lot Size on the product A is 1. When I change this Costing Lot Size on the material master to 100 and rerun the CK11N, the Component Qty and Cost are correct.
Is there some rule that I should be following when it comes to Costing Lot Sizes?
Thanks for any help.
Daniel.

TO MY KNOWLEDGE,
COSTING LOT SIZE IN MATERIAL MASTER, FOR WHICH YOU ARE DOING STD COST ESTIMATE,
COSTING LOT SIZE IN MATERIAL MASTERS, OF BOM COMPONENTS,
BASE QUANTITY IN BOM,
BASE QUANTITY IN ROUTING ,
ALL THE ABOVE SHOULD BE IDENTICAL.

• How to get the Calculated Component Qty of BOM in BI

Hi Gurus,
I am working on a requirement where I need to get the BOM Calculated Component Qty which we see in CS11.
The way it is getting calculated in ECC is :- If a Component has an Assembly then We take the Base quantity of that material from STKO table and Take the Component qty of its component and multiply the Component qty of The component and the component qty of the Material for which the assembly exist and divide it by the base qty of the component of the Assembly.
We need to put the same logic in BI. can anyone please help me how i can accomplish this.
Thanks!

• What-if Analysis on Bom Component Quantity

Hi ,
Is it possible to do What-if analysis on Bom Component Quantity ? As Users wanted to do what if analysis for Gross Die per Wafer. We tried creating one measure for GDPW and use the if condition in BOM Custom Roll up for eg. if (isNull("GDPW"),Component_Qty,"GDPW") but it is not working for What-if Analysis. Do i need to change something in On-Change formulae in BOM Custom Roll up.
Thanks
Lokesh

Hi ,
We are able to load the GDPW for Die level (only one stage )and we have a condition to validate if the measure is null it will take the component_Quantity or else it will take the 1/GDPW measure value. we are doing it for 3 purposes :
1. To get the Accurate value of GDPW which is equal to 1/Component_Quantity (GDPW will be accurate only if we get 30 decimal places value in calculation)
2. As part of information provided to Users as they wanted to see it.
3. To do What-if Analysis (if Possible).
We could have use 'todouble' for the accuracy but we were thinking of what if analysis, and user visibility also.So far calculation is coming nicely but it would be appreciated if you can give pointers for the risk involved in keeping GDPW as measure.
Thanks

• BOM component and PGI

Hi All,
I'm trying to test how the system will react, by allowing me to PGI if I short confirm a BOM component. So if I confirm the mouse for 2 pieces instead of 3, would it allow me to PGI and invoice.
eg. sales order for:
Item 10 pc x 3
Item 20 keyboard x 3
Item 30 mouse x 3
But confirm the delivery for:
Item 10 pc x 3
Item 20 keyboard x 3
Item 30 mouse x 2
Can anyone assist me in the process. We have Warehouse Management running so TO are part of the process.
I'm not sure of the process exactly, so here goes:
Create SO > Create Delivery doc > change Item 30 to quantity 3 in del'y doc. > create TO.
Once the TO is completed ( pick & transfer) then PGI. If PGI is completed then create the invoice.
Any assistance please?
Rgds
TV

Hi Tony,
If you want to do PGI for 2 pcs instead of 3 pcs for a BOM component, then the system will allow to do and will do PGI for that quanitity.
If you have warehouse management then the process will follow as follow
Normally Picking can be donw in two ways
1. Manual Picking
When you dont have warehouse management, then in changemode of delivery, you maintain quanitiy in Picking field, in Pick tab in delivery.
And the picking quanity should not be greater than delivery qunaitity.
2. Automatic Picking
If you have warehouse management, then you cant do manual picking. You have to do pikcing using TO.
Process is as follows
1. Create Sales Order (VA01)
2. Create Delivery (VL01N) or (in sales order change mode, goto Sales Document -> Deliver)
Here the selection date should be req. delivery date of your sales order.
If you can go in change mode of delivery and see the Pick tab, pick quanity will be grayed out. that means you cant give the pick qty manually for this you have to create TO.
For BOM Material, Header component will not be reflected in the Delivery, Only sub components can be reflected in the delivery. As header component is not relevent of Picking. So, If you have only limited qunaity available for a req. del. date say 2 pces instead of 3 pcs, only that qty is picked in transfer Order.
3. Create Tranfer Order (TO) (LT03 or goto change mode of Delivery, click on Subsequent Function -> Create T.O.)
4. subsequently you can confirm the Transfer Order (LT03, goto Transfer Order -> click on Confirm -> Transfer Order)
Now Pickng is done.
5. Now do PGI, change mode of delivery (VL02N) click on Post Goods Issue.
Now for your delivery PGI is done, and what ever the qty is picked in that delivery, that can be done for PGI.
6. Create Invoice (VF01 or VF04)
Hope this clear.
Reward if helpful.
Thanks,
Praveen

• Just update BOM usage qty via ECN

Hi, All,
I face a trouble on BOM update via ECN. for example,
in product trial run phase, I created a BOM and set component qty as 1ea, and scarp as 50%. meanwhile, I also know that, after 3 month, (for example: in 1st July) the scarp will be update into 3% because the product will going to mass production, so, I also created a ECN, and just set scarp as 10% at that time.
However, some time later (maybe 2 weeks), customer ask us to change the component qty as 2ea. so, I create a ECN to update the BOM.
in 1st July, the bom was changed and set the component qty as 1ea, scarp as 50% due to my pervious the ECN. I hope the component did not be changed.
Hi, everyone please tell me, can I just set a ECN just update scarp instead of whole BOM item?
Regards
Henry

Dear Henry,
You can create a separate Change number or use the same change number to make any BOM changes,it may be a quantity
change or else scrap % change etc.
In my understanding it does not mean we have to use the change number only to change the component or it's quantity.
Check and revert
