Bom in maintenance

Hi expert,
Could you please explain me about bom in details with if you have user manual please give.
Actually i want know about bom with how its working with notification throug order I mean automatically relfect in pm order
Please suggest me if you have any simple documents please provide me.
Regards,
Mathew.

There is no better help document than SAP help portal.
For each equipment, BoM can be created in IB01. This BoM contains the Spare Parts, Sub Assemblies using by, the equipment has been assembled.
Components can be only assigned in PM Order. Components can't be assigned in Notification. Also unlike Production BoM (all the components will get copied to Production Order based on Header Material), Equipment BoM components can be selected in PM Order without searching directly from Materials list.
It will help the Maintenance Planners to choose appropriate Spare Parts from BoM instead of choosing wrong spare parts from Material list.
Search in google for Equipment BoM.

  • PM - Equipment BOM VS Maintenance Bills of Material

    Hi,
In Materials planning,  Using maintenance bills of material have  advantage , know that there's Equipment BOMs
    & Functional location BOMs.
When & How to use the Functional Location BOM ?
When & How to use Equipment BO?
Can we use normal production BOM (CS01) replace all this equipment BOM / FL BOM?
    TQ.

    Hi,
Production BOM will have the Materials in Header as well as in Item level. Even BOM usage will be defined as Production.
In Equipment / FL BOM, BOM will be created against the Technical Objects. These BOMs will be used in Maintenance Orders. In these BOMs, components of the Equipments (For example, equipment will be motor. Components may be capacitor, rotor, casing, etc.,) will be mentioned with the qty.
Based on the type of motor, components can be different type. So BOMs will be maintained by the MDM people. Maintenance Planner will create the Maintenance Order & BOM will enable him to select the right component (There may be different type of rotors in Material Master, but based on Motor type, rotor should be selected in Maintenance Order).
As Maintenance Planner will not aware of the type of component, BOM will help him to select the right component.

    Maheswaran.

  • BOM component in service order

    Hi guys,
I have plant A as a maintenance planning plant for plant B and C and equipment 123 in plant B.
Can I create an equipment BOM in maintenance planning plant A and when I explode the BOM in my service order, it will list out the components to be drawn out from plant B?

    Dear Sir,
Can U tell me is It Right method to adopt the BOM to Order ?
In order- components tab - list is there, when i click on that, the particular BOM - materials are Viewed, and  i double click  , the materials are transported to the order . is it right method.,
In pp order all materials in BOM are Transfered to Production order. In maintenance order is not that such scenario?

  • To extend period for each alternative in BOM

In BOM, we have couple of alternatives.  Each alternative includes valid date (valid from and valid to).  We want to change value for valid date (valid from and valid to).  Unfortunately, those fields are blocked for changes.  Therefore, can anyone tell me how can I change value for those fields.  Thank you very much.  Reward will be given.

    Hi,
I'm afraid that this is not possible in the standard. See also explanatation for the parameter settings in transaction OICB.
The validity period ( well actually better to say the 'valid-from' ) is linked to activating BOM validity maintenance ( as a prerequisite for activating engineering change management )
As such the periods are handled internally ( hence the appearance on screen 'Administration' ).
THe only standard option I see is to create a copy of the BOM alternative using the new required valid-from date ( and then delete the old alternative ). More work but the end result should be the same,
    regards

  • Alternative BOM creation problem in CS01

    Hi.
I have created a BOM with CS01 with list of components. Now i want to create an alternative BOM for the same FG.
When I am trying to create alternative BOM using CS01, I added the components, system is showing me in the header as Alternative BOM 2. But when i try to save this BOM system is giving me the error as "Alternative BOM cannot be created for this material".
Can you please help me how to create alternative BOM for this FG.
    Regards,
    Padmavathi

    Dear Padma,
If my understanding is correct,if the check box for multiple BOM inactive is set in OS27 means, you will not be allowed to even
enter into the BOM item maintenance screen.
It seems the system is allowing you to enter the second alternative BOM,but at the time of save the system is blocking from
doing so.check what's the message and check whether by means of exit this check has been incorporated in the system.
    Check and revert back.

  • BOM Validity Using ECM

    Hello All,
We are currently reviewing the ECM functionality to assistn in BOM validity maintenance.  I have made the necessary changes in SPRO to activate this functionality.  My initial testing utilizing the Change Master and associating it with the BOM works fine.  However, the question I had was more around having to make retroactive changes.  I noticed that the system using the Entered or Created date from the transaction to determine the BOM validity.  Is there anyway to influence the BOM validiy to look at document dateof the transaction instead of entered date?  Has anyone run into this type of issue before?
    Thanks for your help.
    Gus

    Dear Sir,
That is what I have done for a material.
Apart from making Routing again after deleting the BOM, do I need to take care of any other thing?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rohit.

    Hi Krishna,
You can use change numbers to change independent (recipe) formula in the PLM-Recipe Management.
The object formula is assigned to the object type specification (type 60 of the change management).
For the object type specification the use of the object management record is not supported in the SAP standard.
Only the change documents are available.
    Best regards,

  • Table for BOM changes

Is there a report that I can run to find all BOM changes for a specific date? Is there a table that I can query that would hold this information?
I would also like to perform the same search for recipies and material master changes.

    Hi
    YOu can use CS80.
I think you must be aware about the BOM history maintenance which you select at the time of customization.
After you select the indicator please go to the table MKAL and find out the BOM.
It will show you all the changes made in a particular BOM
also you can find the change records in tables CDHDR (Header records), CDPOS (Item records), CDATA (Details)
    Material master changes - MM04
Recipe change report - check C260 and C261

  • General task list with component : creating standard BOM

    Hello,
When adding a component to a general task list , i get a "create standard BOM" screen , see below for example :
    Standard object PA00000212
    Plant
    BOM Usage       4
    Change Number
    Valid From           07.09.2009
Can someone explain to me the relation between standard BOM and component within a general task list ?
    Thanks,
    P.

    Hi,
Pls find some of the points below for your referece
    Standard BOM:
Can used for assigning the material from the BOM to Task list operation
That is, BOM  components for the object (Equipment, Functional Location , Assembly) can be retrived and assigned to maintenance Task list of the operation
Condition: BOM corresponds exactly to the content of the structure list
    Free Material Assignment:
Assigning Stock Material (Material number) those are not listed in the BOM of maintenance object directly to the maintenance task list
Condition:  Setting to be done as BOM usage for Plant Maintenance (4)
Path: Maintenance plans, work centers, Tasl Lists and PRTs>>>>>Tasl Lists>>>>>Control Data>>>>Define Presetting for Free Assignment of Material-----BOM Usage as 4
Pls note that, while making free assignment, system creates an internal BOM  and this can not be processed from application.
    Hope this may useful
    Thanks
    Siva

  • Equipment/ Assembly BOM in Task list

    Dear All,
Can we assign Equipment and/or Assembly BOM in Task Lists ?
    If Yes, How ?
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi Anil,
If you want to include all material from equipment BOM, first you have to create the equipment/general task list where all that material (equipment BOM) included. When you create the new Maintenance Order, you just need to call that equipment/general task list. It will automatically adding all the material that you've already mention in the task list.
From my point of view, BOM for maintenance is different with BOM for production. BOM for production can be explode in Production Order and automatically include all the material to Production Order. As for maintenance BOM, it only for structuring the technical objects or you can use it for material cataloging when you create Maintenance Order.
Hope my answer can help you.

  • BDC & User exit

    Hi
could you pls help me in following problems: Atleast basics tips to start with.
1)Created a BDC program for BOM mass  maintenance functionality in
SAP R/3.The selection screen contains options for creating BOM, for
modifying the existing BOM with the input file data and for deleting the
2)Developed user exit in MV45AFZZ to issue warnings messages and put delivery block in sales order processing if the customer expected price does not match calculated price. The user exit should only issue warning messages if the transaction runs in online mode (no batch, no EDI).Custom table was created.
    Thanks

    Hi
    1) Just do the Reocrding first and save the recording and generate  a program from teh recording and look at the program, you will understand the whole thing
    2) In the User eixt,
IF SY-BATCH is initial.    " On line mode

  • Issues during creation and maintenance of BOM using FM's

    I am facing problems while using FM's BAPI_MATERIAL_BOM_GROUP_CREATE , CSAP_MAT_BOM_CREATE .
Previously i was using CSAP_MAT_BOM_CREATE but it did not support creation of another alternative bom if there already exists one for the same material, plant, usage.
So i started using BAPI_MATERIAL_BOM_GROUP_CREATE. This bapi supports creation of alternative BOM's but i have a requirement that i need to create items with a specific item id.
The Bapi's interface has a item table which has a field item_id which i am filling up but internally this bapi converts it into a structure using FM 'MAP2I_BAPI1080_ITM_C_TO_ITM_CL.'
But this FM does not transfer the item_id from the bapi's structure into the internal structure field ident. The FM being called from this bapi for creating items - CS_CL_S_ITM_CREATE uses this ident field for updating item id in an item but this field is empty.Do you have any idea how this issue can be resolved ?
Also similar to BAPI_MATERIAL_BOM_GROUP_CREATE i was not able to find a BAPI for changing an existing BOM.Currently i am using  CSAP_MAT_BOM_MAINTAIN.
Can anyone please help me out with these issues .

To enable and protect the variant maintenance of a report, it needs an S_PROGRAM group on it (see report RSCSAUTH).
Via S_PROGRAM p_action = 'VARIANT' those users can then maintain the variants AND also submit the reports via report trees or transactions (including SA38 for example).
To make the variant user specific for maintaining it but not restricting the ability to use it, take a look in transaction VARCH at the "Protection" flag (this is user specific then, for the current user who sets the flag first).
Also see the SAP notes and discussions here about report RSVARENT - for globally unlocking the protection (to be used and protected itself with caution).
To lock them down beyond the reach of the user's normal authority, you can also create custom system variants in client 000.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Mass Maintenance of BOMs with Alternate Item Groups

We plan to create BOMs containing Alternate Item Groups (+ usage probability + priority) to cover alternative parts usage.
What is the SAP solution for Mass maintenance of BOMs with Alternate item groups?
Is it possible to use (or customize) CS20 (or another transaction) to do following tasks in Mass :
    - identify the BOMs containing a specific material number (where used)
    - add a new item line with a new material nbr in the BOM (with same quantity, subitems, Alternate Item Group, ...)
    - when required, change the usage probability of the members of the group to set the new material usage on 100% and all other alternates usage on 0%. When not required, add the new one with 0% and don't change the existing members of the group.

    Dear.
Ask your ABAP Team to write BDC or LSMW program.
    This will help you.

  • Use of Alternate BOM in Plant Maintenance

    Hi All,
Please let me know the use of Alternate BOM in SAP PM.
    Sundar

    From SAP Help.
The BOM structure is reflected in the different technical categories of BOM provided in the PM system:
    Simple BOM
The first BOM that you create for a technical object or material has no defined technical category and a simple structure. It is described as a "simple BOM".
    Variant BOM
Variant BOMs have a more complex structure. They are used to group together several BOMs to describe different objects that have a high proportion of identical parts.
    Multiple BOM
Multiple BOMs have the most complex structure. They are used to group together several BOMs to describe one object, for which different combinations of materials are used for different production methods. Multiple BOMs are usually used in production planning and have little or no use for plant maintenance.
Note: There is no concept of Alternative BoM for PM.
