Book color and size on indb pdf

Help needed please
The problem started when my 8x10 abridged PB version arrived and the colors are way off with a strong magenta cast.
I used CMYK just like before but THIS time I followed the printers instructions and didn't make any changes to the PDF/X-1a:2001 presets like last time when I printed my HB 8x10 with premium digital color.
On the HB I used bicubic downsampling and jpeg2000 compression with coated GRACol 2006 destination.
On my PB I used bicubic downsampling with jpeg because jpeg2000 it was still too large to upload, and I left the destination as CMYK.
I was prepared for the void lines that come from the inkjet versus digital printing but I was NOT prepared for the pinkish tint color throughout- heck even the cover.
With the high revision & proof charges experimenting with just changing it to the coated destination to view another proof, is not really an option.
I was considering changing the dimensions WITHOUT reformatting the entire 200+ pages using InDesign or Adobe. (The PB doesn't have the index like the HB, but all the pics to line up near the text referring to it) None of the other sizes are an exact aspect ratio but at this point I don't even know if exporting or re-saving the pdf lets me change the size output. I've found a multipage importer but I was hoping some of you had ideas and advice on changing the dimensions in either program.
Do any of you know if the coated GRACol over plan CMYK would've made that much difference in the color?
Do any of you know how to change the size in output from Indesign or in Adobe without having to reformat 200+ pages?

Are you 100% certain you are using the same color profiles throughout? That print size issue might be specific to your printer driver... CS5 has a completely rewritten print handling which may not correctly cooperate with your printer driver or conversely the driver might need to be updated...

I am a novice when it comes to fixes and terms but, I have asked people who have some experience with PC's they were stumped. I contacted Fairpoint and they said it must be a Thunderbird problem. Most of the people I asked said they didn't know Thunderbird. One suggested that I reinstall T.bird but, said I also might lose everything on my PC. I would appreciate any help you can give. When you click Write and open the new message editor, press Alt to show the Menu Bar, then enable all the toolbars under View/Toolbars. Plus, press F9 to show the Contacts sidebar.

Color and size changed when upgraded to photoshop CS5

Hi, I created a flyer in an older version of photoshop and when I upgraded to CS5 the colors and print size changed. This is particularly distirbing b/c this is a flyer/advertisment for work that was almost at the final stage. They are quite small changes, but changes that need to be corrected just the same. The colors look different (duller) on the screen and in print while the size became smaller when I print (to pdf and the printer). My print settings are the same as before as are my color settings (CMYK). I am fairly new at creating flyers in photoshop, so I am hoping this is a simple fix. Thanks.

Hover over image will change background color and size since IE8

Hello,
I have a problem that only occurs in IE8 without compability view.
I have in CSS set all textlinks to change background color on hover.
Now my sliced imageslinks also change background color and for a larger background area than the actual image.
It filles out the area outside the sliced image.
This hasnt happened before in any other versions of IE and it looks fine in Firefox.
Please can some one help me !
I have been searching net for hours.
I tried to change the background color when hovering imagelinks. Maybe I did something wrong but it didnt help.

I have a JTextArea in a JScrollPane. I want to change the default size and color of the JScrollBar that appears. Basically, I want to customize my JScrollBar.
Is there any method to do it or do I have to write my own JScrollPane that would show the JScrollBar I want ???

Note the loop that prints out all the values that can be modified with simply puts to the UIDefaults table for scrollbars. The String "ScrollBars " can be changed to many other swing component names (minus the 'J') to examine their key/value pairs

Applet-Panel, background color and size problem

I am writing an applet with simple form.
Form is having 3 rows and 2 cols (label and textfield). Each row I want to display in different color. So I created each row with 2 separate panel (one for label and one for text field - of which I set the backgroung color).
The total form is in one panel with grid layout (2 colmns).
My problems are
1)The space between label and text field (col width) can not be resized. I tried to use setSize but not giving any effect.
2)Another problem is when I am seting the background color, the textfield is also changing the color (textfield I want to white color only). This does not have any effect on Choice
3)The first label I wanted to use simple break but could not. I tried \n\t, \n, chr(13) + chr(10) etc but not getting any result so created separate panel.

I do not want to go into detail, but there are some hints you can follow.
I am talking about AWT, not swing, you should decide which one you will use and don't mix the two of them.
If you want to run your applet in current browsers without requiring the java plugin, you should be aware, that most browsers support old versions of java and many convenient methods and classes are missing :-(
So
You can change the size of a label by putting it in a panel ( labelPanel ), whose layout is set to FlowLayout. Then you put in labelPanel another empty panel ( emptyPanel ), whose layout is set to null, and you set the width of the empty panel to whatever you want ( this is the gap between the label and the next component ), an the height to the least nonsero number possible, i.e. 1. Well, you can add to the labelPanel more components, if you wish. So, when you want a gap, use an empty panel with a fixed size.
You cannot use line break in a label. You should place more labels in a panel instead. I am not sure if the direction of FlowLayout can be set to vertical, but very probably it can. If so, that is your solution. If not - see what other layout managers you have available, but make sure your choice belongs to java.awt ! BorderLayout allows you to use up to three labels (=> 3 lines). And if nothing fits your needs, ... write a layout manager.

I am trying to do a credits scroll with different text color and size How do I best do this. I understand how to do it with text/scroll but that doesn't allow me to do different text colors and size. How do I do it with Boris Crawl?

Mark an In and Out where you want the roll to roll.
Load Boris Crawl in to the viewer and edit to the timeline.
Double click on the clip in the timeline.
On the control tab for Boris Crawl you can set it to roll your text:

Then click on the box above that where it says click for options and create your roll:

Once you have typed and formatted your text, click apply and you should be able to see the roll.
The speed of your roll is basically determined by the length of the clip on the timeline, the Controls tab for the clip gives you lots of subtle and not so subtle adjustments - like a soft wipe at the top and bottom of the crawl, etc.

If you have Pages you can create customs pages for your book as TD suggested. If you have Pages from iWork 09 or 11 this app will add 80 or so additional frames to those offered: Frames and Strokes Installer. Don't use it on the latest Pages version, however.
This tutorial shows how to create a custom page with the theme's background: iP11 - Creating a Custom Page, with the Theme's Background for an iPhoto Book. Once the page is complete to get it into iPhoto as a jpeg file follow these steps:
Here's how to get any file into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
1 - open the file in any application that will open it.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3 - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
NOTE: If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 300 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto. For books to be printed choose 300 dpi.

I need advice on a quality color-laser printer to work with my Mac Book Pro and my wife's Mac Book

I have a Mac Book Pro and my wife a Mac Book, both with Intel Chips.
I'm running OS 10.7.5 while she is running 10.6.8.
Our budget is between $200 and $400,
We would like the following features:
1. Wireless printing over a linksys router home network. It would be very nice to have the printer in a central location without having to have it USB'd directly into the router. Our router has a fixed location in the house and the printer will be located elsewhere in the house.
2. Reasonably fast to fast printing (pages /minute)
3. Color and black/white printing if the cost isn't too much higher to get color printing capability.
4. AirPrint from iphone 5, if possible.
5. High quality photo printing is not a requirement......looking more for high quality document printing (Word, pdf's, etc) and printing of material from the web.

Photo Books - Crop and Color Issues from Kodak Gallery

I've been spending a good amount of time creating photo books and ordering them from Kodak using the built-in online ordering feature.
I've noticed several items that I was curious if others have any experience perspective on.
1. Cropping. For a flexible full bleed photo book, the page as it is represented in PSE3 is substantially cropped when Kodak processes the book. The difference between the two is almost 1/2 on either side and 1/4 inch on on the top a bottom. (These are approximate numbers) Have others seen this? It would be nice to have a border in the software showing where the page will be cropped since the Kodak service and PSE3 are so tightly integrated.
2. The colors come seem to come off a bit dark as compared to prints I have ordered and the images are all very slightly pixelated as compared to prints. Nothing awful, but not what you would want for your best photos.
I am hoping to learn if others have seen these issues and learned to live with them or are the other photo book providers that could turn a pdf into a higher quality book?

I haven't used the Kodak Gallery for photo books. I have been tempted a time or two, but so far I have ordered my books through Mypublisher.com. The product is about the same. And I saw one of their books last Christmas and was impressed with it. In reading through the instructions from Mypublisher, they warn that there will be some cropping on full-bleed images and advise to be sure to allow for that. I have not run into the color or brightness difference that you mentioned. There are those who will disagree with me, but I read an article awhile back that indicated that most of the online photo processors as well as many of the one-hour minilabs standardize their equipment to the sRGB color space. So that is what I have used when preparing my books, and I have been very pleased with the results.
As far as your pages are concerned, you might try what I did in my last project. The pictures didn't fit any of the templates provided by the publisher, so I created my own pages in Photoshop. I positioned the pictures where I wanted them and added my own text. Then I just created my book using those pages. It turned out very nicely. I have distributed 75 copies of the album so far and everyone has really liked it.
Mypublisher.com provides software that you download and create your album on your computer. Then when you are ready to order there is a menu item that connects you to the Web site. The only problem is, this is a Windows service only. There is no support for the Mac.

OK, I just answered my own question. But since there have been so many questions on this forum over the years - about changing fonts/sizes/colors - I thought I would share what I learned with others. Remember that I'm using OS 10.9 and Contacts 8.0. and this may not apply to older or future versions:
Whe you are in "Contacts," click on "File" and drop down to "print." Click on "Print."
A printer page will come up. On this page, look at the lower righthand quadrant. You are given a choice to select either "layout" or "label." Click on "label." Now you will see, the bottom of that block, the word "Font." Immediately following that word, you will read the name of the font that "Contacts" is pre-set for, which, in my case says "System Font Regualr-12.0." To change this font, you now click on the button to the right that says "Set." When you click on "set" a drop down menu will appear. Voila! From here you can choose your preferred typeface, color, and font size.

Photo Book - issue with generating full size picture in PDF file

Need some assistance here.
I have created a photo book that I would like to order. In the middle of the book I have 2 pages that contain a full size picture on each of the pages. When I generate the PDF file one of these two pictures do not generate correctly leaving an incorrectly rendered rectangle in the bottom left hand corner. 80% of the time it is on of the 2 large 8x10 pictures, the other 20% it is the other 8x10 picture. Aperture does indicate the dpi is large enough to support a quality 8x10 photo.
I have exported jpeg files for each of these pictures and there were no problems. I am not sure by I have this problem in creating the PDF. Does any one see a potential issue with the book? When I order the photo book is it done through he PDF file or are the pictures sent in?
Because of the issue I am cautious to order the Photo Book, but would like to do so.
Any thought or feedback? Is this something that will come through as problem with the photo book as well?

I have a similar problem running 10.5.2/ Aperture 2.0 trial.
My 15800*4700 pixel (19.8mb) panorama was completely screwed up when printing the book to PDF. I did not span the pict over 2 pages as the center part would not be visible in the book's fold. I created 2 full size pages, resized the frames and adjusted their position.
The print just shows hundreds of small squares, some seem ok, some are blue, some are rendered partially. Totally unusable.
The physical memory was not the problem as I had at least 500mb free during the printing operation.
I printed the book twice: same problem. I thought shutting down Aperture would resolve the error. but all my pics were gone. And the Time Machine did not backup while Aperture was running (still a bug). Aaaaaarghhhh.
I managed to restore my work. I will try to create a smaller copy of the panorama and try to print.

Hi there, i've just finish our schools year book (voluntarily) and it has 155 pages incl. front/backcover. This file has 1800 links a lot of photos and a few reports. everytime i go to save as PDF it freezers on page 66. i need the book printed in hi-res?

This file has 1800 links a lot of photos and a few reports. everytime i go to save as PDF it freezers on page 66. i need the book printed in hi-res? im running out of "printing time" as we need it back to school by 10th december for 12th December distribution.
what do i do? if i save it in low res pdf everything will be a blur...can someone please come to my rescue. i have a
OS X version 10.8.2,
Processor: 3.06 GHz Intel Core 13,
Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz RAM
Startup Disk is Moutain Lion
my file is about 24 GB I Purchased a 32 GB USBA stik to save and send to printers.
PDF made easy assistance please anyone out there....?

I do not have InDesign so I can't help you there.

Export an open document to PDF for printing

For Save As Type (Windows) or Format (Mac OS), choose Adobe PDF (Print), and then click Save.

Do one of the following:
To use a predefined set of job options, choose a preset from the Adobe PDF Preset menu.To create a PDF/X file, either choose a PDF/X preset from the Adobe PDF Preset menu, or choose a predefined PDF/X format from the Standard menu.To customize options, select a category from the list on the left and then set the options.
For Compatibility, choose the lowest PDF version necessary to open the files you create.
Click Export (Windows) or Save (Mac OS).
To reset options to the default, in the Export Adobe PDF dialog box, hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) and click Reset. (The Cancel button changes to Reset.)
