Does anyone know how to save your contacts from the address book on the device to the sim card to transfer to a new phone?
I do, but honestly, what you are asking is just not easy to do. You can only transfer ONE name/phone number to a SIM card at a time. A SIM holds only one name and phone number per record, so you might have John Smith listed three times each with a phone number.
No email addresses, nothing else.
Open the Address Book, open a contact, scroll to and over a phone number > press Menu > Copy to SIM Phone book.
If you stated what other "Phone" you are moving to, we might be able to provide more detail. Likewise, if you stated what kind of date the other "phone" will import INTO it, we might able to provide you with a better process for getting your data from the BlackBerry to the other phone.

Time Machine Locked after MacBook Air reformatted. My MacBook Air was overfull due to an Address book issue (duplication) so after many attempts to clear space, I ended up wiping out the system and reloading Lion. This resulted in the Time Machine thinking that it was now connected to a different computer. Apparently this diables the existing information.
Now I can see that the back-ups exist (back to Sept 2012) but they are greyed out, therefore unavailale to restore. Again, this seems like an issue that shouldn't be happening. The whole point of the Time Machine is to enable reinstatement of data after catastrophic failure. What if my computer actually had to be replaced due to a hardware issue? How would I beableto restore anything?
    The path already (unsuccessfully) taken;
Open Library on the computer, Open Time Machine, Select Correct date, drill down to correct data you wish to restore, click "Restore".
This did not work because the correct date was greyed out. Restore key was greyed out.

  • Troubleshooting Address Book issues using Palm Desktop for Mac (v. 4.2.1) and a T3?

Can someone please make suggestions which would correct the following issues?
    1) When printing an Address Book from my Mac, the information in the "title" field prints twice. (I have checked my Preferences settings & reviewed how I have entered the information, etc. and everything is in order; also, an Address CARD DOES print correctly --- and --- after syncing to my T3 and then to my husband's PC, an Address Book prints correctly from the PC.)
    2) After I have synced the Address Book from my Mac to my T3, the "zip code" entries appear BEFORE the "city" entries on the T3. (The zip codes appear correctly on my Mac and print out correctly.)
    3) After I have synced the Address Book from my Mac to my T3, the "contacts" all appear in BLACK on my T3. Is there any way to show the different "contact categories" in COLOR on the T3 as they were originally entered in my Palm Desktop for Mac?

  • Address book issues: duplicates and syncing to phone

I know this is a common problem, and why Apple cannot offer a better solution, or system, is frustrating.
The problem is basically multiple entries in my address book.
I know the issue has to do with icloud, but I cannot figure out how to eliminate the multiple entries without going one by one and deleting.
And I hestiate to do this because I am afraid they will come back.
Frankly, I am very frustrated with icloud.
As far as I am concerned it has caused more problems than it is worth.
I am ready to disable it totally.
Problem is, if I do that now, then all of my contacts in my address boook disappear.
Part of the problem,. I know, is that I still have a mobilme account, and somehow I have two icloud accounts.
Question: is there any way to merge my two icloud accounts, so I opnly have one.
Or can I just delete one? If so, how?
Another problem, I cannot get my addresses on my mac to appear in my iphone(4).
I have tried selecting the sync option to replace all addresses on my iphone, one time, with the addresses on the computer, but it doesn't work.
Certain addresses on my computer do not appear on my phone.
The other day, I went to my phone to call a contact andf found I had about 6 entries for every contact.
I had to go in and disable a bunch of accounts, and finally got back to onbe set, but now some contacts are missing.
Why a simple solution to eliminate showing duplicate entries cannot be found is frustrating.
Seems simple to me: if the info is duplicated, don't show it.
Seems like this simpkle rule could also apply to alerts: everytime I get an alert on my phone, it shows up 5 or 6 times in a row.
    But that's another post.......

    Great.
I think the TM restore would have been much quicker. I was under the assumption that everything was good on the Mac address book.
Not sure what happened since then.  Did you read my post (at 2:01pm above) before things went wrong?
"Try this. Disable iCloud on your mac. Select to keep contacts on the computer when quiting. Verify address book contains all your contacts. If you don't have a backup such as TM, export address book contacts so you will have a backup.
Your address book should have been correct or you could have corrected the contacts then and you would have had the backup files exported if you didn't have or trust TM.
Go to the iCloud website and delete all contacts there.
At the iCloud website, you should have been able to select all addresses at one time and delete. That would have left no addresses in iCloud. Only addresses left should have been on your Mac from the last step.
Once done, go back and log into iCloud on your computer and merge the contacts. The website should now contain the addresses from your address book.
Unless something else was wrong and creating multiple contacts, the only addresses in iCloud would have been merged from what was in your address book on your computer.
I don't know what happened or where we went wrong. I'll check back in the morning if you post any other info.
    Hope it works out.

  • Address Book Issues

I just this week finally upgraded from 10.4.11 Tiger to the latest Snow Leopard through the Mac Box Set. I had some minor issues with a few things, but my biggest problems were with my contacts in Address Book.
After the installation, I looked at my contacts in Snow Leopard and only 40 of 225 had migrated over to the new system! Fortunately, I had, of course, backed up my main drive as it existed under Tiger just prior to the system upgrade, so I restarted with drive 2, opened Address Book, exported my contacts file to drive 1, restarted again with drive 1, and imported the exported vCards file into Address Book in Snow Leopard. This seemed to work well enough, as all of my 225 contacts were back.
But then I decided I didn't like the picture I had attached to one of my contacts and decided to replace it with a newer one. I tried every approach I could think of but I could NOT get rid of the old picture. I deleted the old one several different ways and chose the new picture to replace it and then save the entry, but no matter what I did, if I went to another contact and back to this one, or stayed on this contact, closed Address Book and reopened it, every time I returned to the contact with the picture the old one was back. Argghhh! One of the things I thought was interesting is that every time I clicked to choose a new picture, the "new" one was there and I could "set" it, but it would not stay set when the contact was reopened. Finally, I had to resort to deleting that card and re-entering the information from scratch with the new picture, and that worked.
I suppose I'll never know why only 40 of 225 contacts migrated over when I went directly from Tiger to Snow Leopard. Some would probably say that's what I get for waiting, and maybe they're right, but does anyone know whether imported vCards are typically less editable than entries that are entered by hand?

Thanks for responding Herbert. I have not tried that. I'll be on-site on Thursday and give it a try.

  • Outlook 2013 Not Responding and Offline Address Book Issues with Office 365

Around 3 months ago I setup a small business with Office 365 for email. They have 10 PCs, all running newly installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, eight with Office 2013 and two with Office 2010. All are connected to a local domain (Server Essentials
2012) with a single internet connection through a new TP-LINK router. Each user logs into their own PC only.
The network runs perfectly, internet connection is good but there seems to be RANDOM, INTERMITTENT issues with email not being SENT from Outlook every so often. Email will sit in the outbox for up to an hour sometimes before, eventually, being sent. Incoming
email seems ok, although this is more difficult to tell. At others times, email will be sent instantly - the size of the message and any attachments makes no difference.
The issue has happened at some point on every one of the PCs but no particular PC/user seems worse than any other. When email is stuck on one user's PC it can still be sent ok by other users at the same time - so the internet connection is not down. Users can
can always login to the OWA service ok and iPhones etc. all sync ok even when email is stuck in the Outbox.
To debug the issue I have worked on one particular user's PC and carried out the following changes -
    Changes that made no difference
I have checked the router. A SPI firewall is available on the router but this is switched off.
I have changed the MTU on the router with no effect.
There are no unsual add-ins to Outlook
Outgoing email virus scanning is disabled
Outlook is NOT integrated with Lync
The OST file is around 1.7 GBytes is size.
I have recreated the Outlook profile twice but this made no difference
Switched OFF "Cached Exchange Mode" - this made things worse !
The Outlook address book is set to \Offline Global Address List
I have disabled with Windows firewall on the client PC - no change
I have adjusted the KeepAliveTime for packets in the registry of the PC to 20 minutes
Changes that reduced the frequency of "Not Responding"
I have changed the Outlook automatic Send/Receive time from 30 to 10 minutes - this seemed to help
    Possible Related Problem
I have attempted to download the offline address book manually - this hangs at "Copying offline address book template file" in the Send/Receive dialog and there a NO OAB files in the data file location on the PC.
So the only measure that has so far "helped" has been the Outlook Send/Receive time change - now set to 10 minutes. Even so, Outlook will occasionally go "Not Responding" for 30 minutes or more (no windows active - only option
is to close and reopen Outlook).
There does seem to be a problem with the Offline Address book. I can download this ok for this user on my home PC (Outlook 2010) but this will not download manually on the work pc with Outlook 2013 (despite following all the debug steps above).
On work PC I can see literally hundreds of "Schannel" errors in the Windows System event logs -
    Error - Event 36888 Schannel
The following fatal error was generated :10
The internal error state is 10
These errors occur every 2-4 minutes continually all the time Outlook is running. When Outlook is closed the "Schannel" errors stop !
Can anyone suggest what else to try, please ?
I have already investigated this issue on the Office 365 Community Forum, and the Outlook forum and they suggested that it was a client (i.e Outlook) issue and that I should post here for further information.
    Thanks for reading !

    An update to this problem.
I brought one of the office PCs back to my home network and connected it up there. With no changes to the PC I was immediately able to download the Offline Address Book without errors.
This suggests to me that there must be some problem with the internet connection or router setup in the office environment.
The router is a TP-LINK W8970. The internet connection is PPPoA. I have seen some suggestion that an SPI firewall can cause issues. This router has an SPI firewall but this feature is disabled on the router.
While investigating this issue I have frequently been connected remotely to an office PC - sometimes for up to an hour or more. During these periods I have not experienced any connection dropouts so the actual internet connection seems to be ok (i.e. it is
    not dropping out).
However, something seems to be preventing the Outlook client from connecting properly with the Office 365 Exchange server in the office environment - or something is dropping the connection to Outlook. Does anyone know of any router settings that might affect
    this ?
I could try changing the office router but I do not have a spare available. Can anyone suggest a reasonably low cost, currenbtly available router that they know definitely works in the Office 365 environment so that I could buy this for test purposes ?

  • Mail and Address Book Issues in 10.4.5

    Hello:
I recently updated to 10.4.5 and have some issues with mail and address book.
    1. MAIL: All the mail on my machine has been "reformatted" for lack of a better term. Each line in a paragraph is about 1.5" above the next. This is the same for all messages. This just appeared after I updated to 10.4.5. Suggestions? Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what was the solution?
    2. ADDRESS BOOK: All of my addresses just have the name. Apparently, everything else has disappeared (Phone, e-mail, notes, etc.) Ex: John Smith... That is all I have for all 346 records. Naturally, I have the data backed up on .mac, but before I re-sync (assuming that works) I want to resolve the issue to prevent it from happening again. I have tried renaming files in the user>library>application support>address book from AddressBook.data.previous to just AddressBook.data to no avail. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Photo Book - issue with generating full size picture in PDF file

    Need some assistance here.
I have created a photo book that I would like to order. In the middle of the book I have 2 pages that contain a full size picture on each of the pages. When I generate the PDF file one of these two pictures do not generate correctly leaving an incorrectly rendered rectangle in the bottom left hand corner. 80% of the time it is on of the 2 large 8x10 pictures, the other 20% it is the other 8x10 picture. Aperture does indicate the dpi is large enough to support a quality 8x10 photo.
I have exported jpeg files for each of these pictures and there were no problems. I am not sure by I have this problem in creating the PDF. Does any one see a potential issue with the book? When I order the photo book is it done through he PDF file or are the pictures sent in?
Because of the issue I am cautious to order the Photo Book, but would like to do so.
Any thought or feedback? Is this something that will come through as problem with the photo book as well?
    Thanks

    Hi ejg999,
I have a similar problem running 10.5.2/ Aperture 2.0 trial.
My 15800*4700 pixel (19.8mb) panorama was completely screwed up when printing the book to PDF. I did not span the pict over 2 pages as the center part would not be visible in the book's fold. I created 2 full size pages, resized the frames and adjusted their position.
The print just shows hundreds of small squares, some seem ok, some are blue, some are rendered partially. Totally unusable.
The physical memory was not the problem as I had at least 500mb free during the printing operation.
I printed the book twice: same problem. I thought shutting down Aperture would resolve the error. but all my pics were gone. And the Time Machine did not backup while Aperture was running (still a bug). Aaaaaarghhhh.
I managed to restore my work. I will try to create a smaller copy of the panorama and try to print.
BTW, what is the size of your photo creating the problems?
    regards

  • Solution:  iMac Address Book - Issues when Editing or Deleting Contacts

Is there a way to select a bunch of similarly posted questions and propose to "ALL" an answer or solution?
Hardware & Version: I have the iMac OS X Lion 10.7.4  (as of this writing)
Every so often, after updates, there seems to be rights issues with some apps, such as Address Book and iTunes, especially for iMacs with one or more non-admin accounts.
But somehow, even using the Admin account to give Read/Write access to some relevant user folders (AddressBook folder of that user in this case) does nothing to allow the editing or deleting of those contacts.
Here is the solution that worked for me, without losing all my contacts:  (just in case, backup all files and contacts prior to these steps...)
1 - open Address Book app
2 - right-click a contact that you cannot edit or delete
    3 - select "Spotlight: <contact name>"
4 - Finder will open and show all files pertaining to that contact (select View as Columns from the menu)
5 - find the file that has "Address Book Card Data" next to the "Kind" value (the file icon will look like those Roladex cards)
6 - right-click the file and select "Open Enclosing Folder"
7 - another Finder window opens to show the Metadata folder location of the file
8 - now stretch the window until you see the AddressBook folder containing the Metadata folder
9 - Quit Address Book app
10 - right-click the AddressBook folder and select "Move to Trash"
11 - launch the Address Book app
You should now be able to edit and delete contacts.

  • Service Book Issue possibly?

    Im NEW at Blackberrys.
Im looking to access the WEB and I cant find an Icon for BROWSER. The website says there it is, the associate with Cellular South says its on there, and then says it may be a Service Book which I will have to get a Data associate to send me.
I have no WORLD and when I try and Activate the Enterprise I get you need a password buddy message. Ive read the book, read the internet and called for help...Does anyone here have a suggestion. Im good on a CPU/Laptop but green as a gourd on this Blackberry.
    Thanks again,
    STEVE

Hi and welcome to the forums!
First you need to have a data plan. You probably have one,
Carriers sometimes forget to ACTIVATE the plan you paid for.
    Try this:
From the main screen go to OPTIONS- ADVANCED OPTIONS- HOST ROUTING TABLES
click the trackball to enter, press the menu key and select REGISTER NOW..
(Congratulations you are now qualified to be a Data associate, because that was all he was going to do)
    This will do two things:
It registers the phone with the wireless network. Updates the device details onto the rim relay and sends down carrier specific icons or applicants. (Icons and applicants being the operative terms in the sentence for you) It will also send service books to your device.
Wait until you get the verification email,
    Then:
Pull the battery while the device is ON, replace after a minute,Let the device reboot 1-3 min.
See if you have your browser, and see if you can get to the net.
If it works, you are setup with your data plan. And you can proceed with the Email setup wizard.
If this doesn't  work, politely and calmly see the associate that said that your Browser was there.
Please remember to make small talk with him while you stand on his chest, and he activates your  data plan,
Let him up when he's shown you  the internet works. I'm sure at this point he will gladly help you with  email setup
If you need more information, please ask!
If not, please resolve the post using the options by the kudos’ star.
Just check the post that had your answer!
    Thanks

  • Photo Book Issue

I've previously made photo books on shutterfly, ifoto and at walgreens.com without any problem. Now suddenly when I click to choose a photo book the apps at all sites fail to initialize. Screen just sits there in limbo. It's only an issue on my individual Mac (the websites interface without problem on my husbands PC and my kids's Mac). I must have done something to some setting to block this function ... can anyone tell me what? I've already tried monkeying with my security and don't see anything that would impede access to laying out and purchasing basic photo books online.
    Thanks!~
    Leslie

Repost the image using the camera icon in the tool bar so we can see what you're referring to.
Have you made a PDF preview of the book as Apple suggested and does the 61 show up?
Command (right) - clicking on any page will give you this contextual menu with options for previewing books before ordering:
We always recommend saving the PDF file to compare it with the printed copy when it arrives.  That gives you dated proof of what the pdf looked like when ordered.  The book needs to be previewed in a pdf as a pdf is what is created and transmitted for printing.
I vaguely remember another post about some errant text in the book but can't find the post now.
Apple is offering you a 50% rebate and will let you keep the existing books. If you error is on the dust jacket you might be able to correct the dust jacket text, create a PDF file and have  just the dust jacket printed locally by a local printer like Kinkos.

  • Font Book Issue

Hey everyone, This may well be a simple issue, but for the life of me i cant figure it out. Recently, i added new fonts to my font book and they seem to have done something to the pre-existing fonts. Whenever i get a permission pop-up, where i need to enter my username and password, like to install software, all of the letters are just one character, which i can't describe. Is there any way to fix this or do i need to bring the computer in for repair?

It sounds like you added one font too many. Check Fontbook to see if you now have any duplicate fonts, especially for Lucida Grande. There should just be one, located in System/Library/Fonts.

  • Font Book Issues Installing a font

I was recently given a font that doesn't seem to want to install in Font Book. At first I thought the files were corrupted but I tried installing the same font on my MacBook Pro and it worked fine. I have tried to add the font from the Font Book interface, tried dragging and dropping the files into Font Book, and tried double-clicking the file and installing it from the file window... Nothing seems to work.
I did uninstall Suitcase Fusion about 3 months ago, mostly because I really didn't need it anymore. At least not worth the headache it was giving me. But I haven't had any font issues after the uninstall til now. I followed Extensis' unstall directions to the T.
Anyways I am at a loss as to why this font won't install. Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

From the sounds of it, you don't have the whole font. Type 1 PostScript fonts are a set. One file is a suitcase containing all of the low res bitmap screen fonts. The rest are the outline printer fonts. As an example, here's Adobe Garamond.

The first file which I highlighted in green is the font suitcase of bitmap screen fonts. The rest are the outline printer fonts.
    1) The files for a Type 1 PostScript font must have both the screen and printer fonts for a given set in order to work. They also must be in the same folder.
    2) The suitcase of bitmap fonts will work alone, but output will be terrible since the system will print the fonts using the 72 dpi screen fonts in the suitcase if the outline portions are missing.
    3) Having only the outline fonts will not work. You will get exactly what you are having problems with. You can see the fonts, but they will not load. That's not a problem with Font Book, Suitcase or other font manager. None of them, nor the system itself will load outline fonts from a Type 1 PostScript font without the matching suitcase of screen fonts present.

  • Sever address book issues

For some reason, address book has duplicated groups by the dozens. Deleting is slow and laborious. Have tried it from my mbp, my imac and from icloud itself. Halfe the time the machine pinwheels out.
I liked mobile me because if you wanted, you could just export your contacts to a file, then do some surgery, syncing from your machine to the cloud or vice versa.
This is very troublesome. I just want to completely wipe it out and then reload my contacts.
    any help is appreciated.

    already tried that
Just exported my v cards and archived my contacts, deleted all contacts, confirmed they were not on my mbp, imac or on icloud.com itself.
the problem is, all the groups are still there, literally a couple hundred, all duplicates of only about 5 different groups I had, customers, vendors, personal etc. It only happened on icloud, not on the "on my mac" group.
The problem I am having is getting rid of all the groups on the left side of the address book screen. The only option I see so far is to delete each idividually which is incredibly time consuming. Whether I do it from address book, from icloud.com, either way it takes forever, everything slows down, pinwheels etc, literally like 30seconds just to delete one and I have hundreds
utterly baffeling, had no issues like this with mobile me and seriously sometimes wish I could go back
    any ideas?!?!?!?

  • 10.6.2 Font Book issues

I've been searching hi and low for another post that might have the same problems, but to no avail. After upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6.2, the PostScript font issue I'd been experiencing (like many others) seemed to go away. About 2 weeks ago, however, suddenly some of my fonts were no longer working? At first they were still in Font Book (and enabled), but wouldn't show up in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc. When I checked the font files in the Finder, the file size was zero K. Strange.
So I deleted the files (from the Finder via Font Book), and tried to import the fonts back into font book after copying them over from a backup server, however, when I copy the font files from the server to my Desktop, the files go from 8 K (on the server) to zero K on my Desktop. So, of course, Font Book can't recognize the files as valid font files and can not import the fonts. Strange. The zero K files show up in my Library (at zero K), but they don't show up in Font Book.
    Thoughts?

I know I'm late to the party but wanted to share my experiences. First off, thank you all - this discussion helped me immensely!
I was forced to upgrade to 10.6.2 after my my old mac mini began dying. I had been running a beige G3/System 9 and a Mac mini/10.4 networked together. I had all of my fonts stored on the G3. As you know, Macs no longer speak AppleTalk, so I was unable to connect to my G3 to copy over the fonts. I finally connected using the server connection (go->connect to server). When I copied over my type 1 fonts, the suitcases all showed up, but I was unable to install them. Another thread mentioned Font Explorer. I tried that and it didn't work either. I couldn't understand why there was a problem; I had updated to 10.6.3 and everyone said that fixed the font issues. I spoke to Apple support and they didn't know what was happening. (Actually the first guy blamed it on third party software - the fonts - and said it wasn't their problem. ***?!?!?!?) The 2nd guy was helpful, but had to escalate it. I was waiting for a callback when I found this thread and went to check out my font folders. Yep - zero k. But they were ok on my G3. Then I saw the last post about not being able to store type 1 fonts on a Windows server because they'd lose information. So I began wondering if having to connect to my G3 as a server affected the transfer of the fonts. Since my CD burner was down on the G3, I had to go back to port them over to my old dying mini on the AppleTalk network and then transfer them using target disk mode. Bingo. That was it. All fonts safe and sound. I'm sure this was a rare problem, but it's so bizarre that I had to share in case someone else can use my experience!
