  • How do I tell the installed Boot Camp version (Windows 7, 32-bit)?

I installed Windows 7 (32-bit) in a new Boot Camp partition. I see that there are several Boot Camp version updates for 32-bit Win 7 (3.2 from 3.1, etc.). Previously I had Windows XP, and in the system tray at lower right of the screen there was an icon for information about Boot Camp. My Win 7 installation has no such icon. How do I tell which Boot Camp version I am running?
Likewise, Win XP had an Apple utility for setting the startup disk. The only Apple utility I find in Win 7 is Apple Software Update (which shows no updates needed).
    What am I missing?

Answered my own question! When I installed Win 7, I failed to install the Boot Camp drivers on the OS X install disk. Did so, and now the Boot Camp icon shows up.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Boot Camp Support Software 5.0.5033 supports Windows 8.1 and can be used with that version. The Mid 2011 iMac is compatible with Windows 8, so you should not have any problem by installing Windows 8.

  • I downloaded Boot Camp Software Update 3.1 for Windows 64 bit

Because I read a forum stating that Version 3.0.4 (which is what is on my computer) does not mesh well with Windows 7. After I downloaded it of the apple page, the software did not update and instead it opened in a Textedit window. How do I update Boot Camp from 3.0.4 to 3.1?

If you're using the bundled Boot Camp 3.04 that comes with MacBooks / iMacs etc. it'll not upgrade with the v.3.1, v3.13 nor v3.2 until...  if it's saying "v3.0 of Bootcamp is not loaded" etc.
You reload your Windows drivers from a ORIGINAL RETAIL Snow Leopard DVD only. That retail version contained v3.0. You just load in the disc in Windows and it'll overwrite the v3.04.
Once you do that you can then download v3.1, v3.13 (if applicable to you), and v3.2 directly from Apple's Downloads section and it'll all work perfectly then. [once you've all those in you can then download Service Pack 3 of Windows XP as an additional advantage].
Another tip... let Windows RE-FORMAT your FAT32 drive again (i.e. not using the Boot Camp version) or preferably NTFS for the best compatibility.

  • Boot Camp Version 3.0

Have Boot Camp Version 2.2 and need to updated to Boot Camp Version 3.0 in order to update to Boot Camp Version 3.0 so that I can finally install 3/1.1.3 32 bit.exe.
All this is for Windows 7. Been searching the Apple Support pages with no success. Does anybody have the link for Boot Camp Version 3.0_

  • Kernal Panic after Boot Camp Software update

Hey all here is my dilemma,
    I have a MBP 15' 2.66GHZ i7 8GB Ram etc...
Few days ago my internal drive would not boot; So I went to the apple store and they 'determined' that it was the logic board through a very sketchy process of elimination. In the end my logic board was replaced.
On the next day I decide to finally set up boot camp (Big Mistake). Everything goes fine up until I decide to download - Boot Camp Software Update 3.2 for Windows 64 bit. After installation I was prompted to restart my computer after which it booted into Mac and Kernel panic ensued along with the gray screen.
Windows partition works fine, I was unable to boot from CD, tried PRAM reset, Could not safe boot. Target Disk mode formatting the hard disk and then reinstalling Mac OS was successful in reinstalling the OS, but it still does not boot.
Now I am stuck with Windows 7 working and Mac not booting stuck at apple no spinning wheel.
Please help, I really do not know what do to.

  • Where is "Boot Camp Software Update 3.1 for Windows 64 bit"?

Where is "Boot Camp Software Update 3.1 for Windows 64 bit"??

Did you try just 3.2 update?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL979
I find this "you need 3.0 first" then have to install year old 3.1, and only then can you install 3.2? what kind of Windows motherboard support is that?
And, you already have 3.0 installed off a 10.6 OS X DVD, and have you tried to use Apple Software Update (Windows obviously)? though I think the standalone updates are better and less trouble or problems. Download and keep them handy in case ever needed in the future too.

  • Boot Camp installer updates crashing WinXP

    Hello
I installed WinXP on my iMac today (2.6Ghz i5 processor, 16GB RAM, 2TB drive, OSX 10.6.8).
After running Windows (all the updates were installed), I tried to update the Boot Camp. My OSX disc installs Boot Camp 3.0 and I Software Updater is not updating it beyond that.
From Windows (Safari browser) I located and downloaded Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.2 from the Apple Downloads area.
However, when I run the 3.1 installer (which needs to be done before 3.2), I get a blue screen and this error msg:
    "STOP. c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The windows subsystem process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x7c911629 0x00c5ebe0).
The system has been shut down."
I then have to do a hard restart to get back.
I did this several times and got the same result (am I Einstein or what?).
In short I cannot get Boot Camp software updated - and I know that I have to get to 3.2 which has the latest drivers for WinXP 32bit.
Any ideas on what I can try to fix this?
Also - WinXP only recognises 2GB of RAM - when I have 16GB installed ... how can I get Windows to use the full 16GB?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Perhaps some umwanted advice, to one who wants to save $$ be re-using ...
MS probably has disavowed the existence of XP, for all intents and purposes.
If I did load it on a desktop by itself, I would expect 3 days of downloading patches on even the fastest internet line.
Windows 7 has the best "production level" support MS has to offer currently.

  • Boot Camp driver update error

I keep getting Error code 1603 whenever I try to install the boot camp driver update under Windows Vista, it says something about a restart pending in the event log but I've restarted twice and it hasn't changed a thing, is there any way to fix this?

right click on my computer, go to manage, then to device manager.
Under display adapters, remove everything, may ask to reboot, try rebooting or just run installer again.
This fixed it for me, i tried so many things before i found this fix.

  • Boot Camp version 3.0 found at last

  • Boot Camp Version 1.3b expired.. need to update but don't have windows.

So let me run you through what I did so far.
I got a version of Boot Camp 1.3 beta. I successfully installed it and began to go through the steps to set up windows. I skipped the burning the windows CD option and went straight to the partitioning. I created a 20gig partition named "Bootcamp."
I then realized I needed to burn the windows CD from Boot Camp in order to install it. So I quit the Boot Camp Assistant Application. The option to burn the windows CD was no longer available so I scrapped the Boot Camp Assistant, re-downloaded the 1.3 beta version and installed it.
Still no opportunity to burn the windows drivers CD disc. So I quit the assistant once again. I attempted to re-open the Boot Camp Assistant and I got an error message telling me it expired. So I set the date back on my clock to a date before the beta version expired (prior to Sept. 30, 2007).
Then, I got this error message:
This version of Boot Camp Assistant is not supported in Mac OS X v10.5. Use Boot Camp Assistant 2.0, located in /Applications/Utilities/.
And that's where I am right now. I still have to have the date set back to before Sept. 30th, 2007 to get to the error message above or else it tells me the version is expired.
So I've determined that I need to update Boot Camp to version 2.0 or higher, except I don't have windows installed on my computer yet. The mac support page tells me that I have to open windows and then install the updates to the latest version of boot camp... which I obviously can't do because I haven't installed windows yet.
So I'm stuck with a partitioned drive and I cannot use the Boot Camp Assistant. I need the assistant to burn the windows install CD that I need..
I'm in quite a pickle. Any help would be appreciated.. thank you.
If you need more information let me know I'll try provide the information needed to fix this issue.
    Thank you.

I don't have the Leopard disc because a man updated it for me in the mac store when I brought my laptop in for repairs.
You need to get that disk to use Boot Camp. Mac OS X 10.4 disks don't contain the drivers.
So, I have this Mac OSX install disc.. do I just insert it? And then what? How do I go about installing windows after that? I'm a little confused about how to get to the drivers and what to do I'm just not sure.
Once you've partitioned the drive and installed Windows, start up the computer into Windows and insert the disk. The installer should automatically start.

  • Best Boot Camp version for my MacBook Pro?

    Hi guys!
So, I've got a 17" MacBook Pro from 2007. It's listed as "macbookpro2,1" in System Profiler, if that helps. I've got the Windows 7 Release Candidate installed on a Boot Camp partition running BC version 2.0. I guess I'm a bit confused - what is the "correct" version of the Boot Camp drivers for this machine?
I bought Star Trek Online today, and I just want to make sure I'm getting the best performance this trusty old Mac is capable of!
    Thanks,
    Huxley

    Hi Huxley,
Windows 7 BootCamp Driver support requires both the Snow Leopard install DVD, which contains the 3.0 version of the Drivers, and the 3.1 driver update which can be download from Apples download site.
The version number of the BootCamp Assistant in OSX is either 3.0 when you use OSX Snow Leopard or 2.0 if you use OSX Leopard.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3986
To my knowledge the Windows 7 Release Candidate is only valid for use till the end of March, so it might be time to buy the full version.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Windows 7, Boot Camp version and Snow Leopard?

Hi folks, I have a 2009 quad Mac and recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. The questions I have are:
Was the upgrade to Boot Camp 3 automatic?
If not what do I need to do to upgrade that?
How do I tell which version of Boot Camp I have?
Is the update for Boot Camp yet ready for Win 7? I read that an announcement was made yesterday of an update, but not sure it was released.
I wouldn't dare install Win 7 on my old XP PC Laptop, but I need to check web pages for my design work, and looks like Win 7 may become the standard as opposed to Vista on newer PCs.
I am also running Parallels 4, don't know if updating bootcamp will mess up that install... or functionality.

Okay, Boot Camp assistant, I get. I guess I was mistaken about the meaning of Boot Camp? When I boot into Windows on the installed XP system in my computer on its own partition, is Boot Camp involved in any way like an operating system or software platform foundation like DOS allowing Windows to operate, or is Boot Camp just for setting up a partition in the first place? I guess I'm wondering why Boot Camp Assistant 3 needs to be upgraded to allow the install Win 7, if I could just boot into Windows and run the upgrade in Windows? Does that make sense why I'm asking the questions?

  • Boot Camp version?

    Hi All,
How can I find out details of the version of BootCamp I running from within Windows Vista....? I want to find out version and whether it's 64 bit or 32 bit...?
    Thanks

    1) Looks like you have the 32-bit version installed since Boot Camp is in the (x86) folder.
    2) I believe you need 10.5 of the Mac OS for the 64-bit version of Boot Camp to be supported.
    3) I further believe you must install the 64-bit version of Boot Camp from the 10.5 install disk. I also think that after you install the 64-bit version of Boot Camp with the 10.5 disk that you will then be able to apply the 2.1 update.
    4) I'm something of a "start from a known state" troubleshooter based on my training as a support engineer in the 80's (clean installs of new OS versions etc...). I'm wondering if you installed the 32-bit version back when Boot Camp was in beta and have simply done various upgrades ever since? If so, you'll need someone else here to help that has a deep level of understanding on what to do next! Be sure to provide exact software versions when asking for help to speed up the process.
    5) You can determine file versions and product codes by looking at the properties of a file in Windows (right click with your mouse to see options).
