"/boot" partition not being mounted or used

I have my disk partitioned in 3 sections,
/dev/sdc1 "/boot"
/dev/sdc2 "swap"
/dev/sdc3 "/"
When i boot up it uses the "boot" folder mounted on /dev/sdc3 "/" named "boot" instead of "/dev/sdc1" which is supposed to be "/boot".
If I change it in fstab to mount /dev/sdc1 partition correctly as /boot, it boots from "/dev/sdc3"'s /boot instead, then loads /dev/sdc1 as "/boot" afterwards.
Any suggestions, it is hard to explain. hmm
Basicly, what do I need to do to make sure my /boot partition is being USED as the /boot ?

You need to tell GRUB (in /boot/grub/menu.lst) to use sdc1 as the "root", even though you pass "root=/dev/sdc3" on the kernel command line. If GRUB is itself looking in the wrong place for config files, you'll need to reinstall GRUB.

How do I prevent the Lion boot partition from being reformatted when using boot camp?

Under Windows 7, Computer Mgt, I shrink the C drive to create another drive. When I right click on the unused drive to format it, 200MB Lion boot is formatted and assigned a drive letter F. But I did not tell Windows 7 Computer Management to do that. I clicked on the unused 170GB space to create it as F, I did not click on the 200MB Lion boot partition at the front of the list.
Now I have to take the computer back to the Apple store to reinstall Lion for me.
I tried this twice and it happened twice. So now I need to go back to the Apple store a second time for help on the same problem.
Would the 200MB Lion boot disk at the front be safe from reformatting if I first made it drive letter F, and then made the new drive letter H at the right side of the drive list in Computer Management? Also, there is an unlettered drive between the Lion drive E and the Windows 7 drive C. Should I make that G prior to formatting drive H?
By the way, I did this on another MacBook pro that was using Snow Leopard, following the same procedure, and had no problems. So could a different version of Boot Camp be the issue?

I just found an older question similar to this one that you also replied to. It was from 2012 and never solved. The only things I am using in my set up is a male quarter inch cable from my guitar to my interface, a USB cable from my interface to my computer, and headphones from my interface to my ears of course. Just like in the other question I found I have everything in the Audio MIDI Setup of the computer set to use the interface as input and output and I also have everything in garage band setup to use the interface as audio input and output. Any new track is recording the metronome and any old track that is being played in the headphones. No external speakers are being used for monitoring and no microphones are being used.

/boot not being mounted after pacman update

I just updated my system and upon reboot I've found myself in emergency mode. journalctl -xb tells me among other things that /boot could not be mounted. Following this thread https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=171880, I tried downgrading my kernel to 3.18.2 using pacman -U, and while it did downgrade, I am still not able to boot normally. Thinking the kernel upgrade process just caught a glitch, I tried reupdating my kernel, which caused the mkinitcpio script to run.
It said /boot appeared to be a separate partition but was not mounted. Rebooting, I still found myself in the same boat.
This is a dm-crypt+LUKS EFI system using gummiboot. The line currently in my fstab is LABEL=EFI /boot vfat rw,relatime,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,code page=437,iocharset=iso8859-1,short name=mixed,errors=remount-ro 0 2
uname -r tells me the emergency mode is using Linux kernel 3.18.2 instead of the 3.18.6 kernel I updated to. pacman -Q says Linux 3.18.6-1.
Journalctl -xb | grep -I failed | less shows that systemd failed to load display manager and failed to start Load Kernel Modules. Two units failed according to systemctl --state=failed.
When I startup and when I try and connect to the internet with netctl, I get the codepage cp437 error and am prompted again for my root password. Further investigation reveals that is in my /etc/fstab. I don't remember putting that in there. How can I see if any software modified it during the update?
I'd really appreciate suggestions for restoring my system. Thanks in advance.

Sorry I can't help but I have potentially a similar problem.
We have an Apple TV 3 and after the most recent software update (potentially coincidental timing), our purchased movies & TV shows will no longer play for our US account. We can play previews but that's it. We also tried renting a new movie but that didn't work either. No error messsage, just select play, it thinks about it, then returns you to the same screen again.

Then you should contact Adobe and see what they are doing to resolve it since Flash is their product and they gave up because they could not complete a version for iOS.

Mac os partition not being detected

I was using samsung hdd in my mac that was bootcamp partitioned. later I replaced the hard drive with the other HDD. Now i am using samsung hdd as external drive and wanna format it but the mac OS partition is not being detected how do I format the whole drive??? I can only see the windows partiton which is 150gb rest 350gb was Mac OS partition which i wanna format but not able to do....please help

Ok, you took out drive #1 which had Lion, Lion Recovery Partition and Bootcamped Windows.
You installed drive #2 internally and installed the Lion Recovery Partition and Lion (via what method?)
You booted from drive #2 and hooked up your drive #1 using either a SATA to USB adapter or powered enclosure and only can see the bootcamped partition? not the previous Lion Recovery or Lion OS X partition.
Some enclosures don't work with OS X
However if you want to format the entire external drive, wiping off everything including OS X, Bootcamp and Windows, all your files and programs, you should be able to select the "size" "brand name" + "model number" + "media" of the actual hardware itself on the far left side in Disk Utility.
(In my case I have two OS X partitions)
If your just selecting the name of your OS X boot partition, like Macintosh HD, then your only formatting that partition not the entire drive.
Click the Partition tab, select 1 partition, Option GUID, format OS X Extended Journaled and click apply, the entire drive will then be formatted for Mac use only.
If you want PC/Mac use, then Option Master Boot Record, format exFAT for 4GB+ files, or FAT (MSDOS) for under 4GB sized files, but most compatibility with other devices and Windows XP machines.

IPads not being recognized when using apple configurator software

I have an iPad cart with 25 iPad's. I am using a MacBook Air and the apple configurator software to try to manage the iPad's. The problem is, only 21 of the 25 iPads will show up in the apple configurator "prepare" section. All of the iPads are not being recognized. When I use a MacBook Pro all 25 iPad's will show. So the problem seems to be with the MacBook Air and/or Apple Configurator. Any suggestions? We have 30 carts total with some having up to 30 iPads so I am trying to find a fix for this.

This seems to be an issue related to the new 2013 MacBook Air models. I've seen it pop up a few times now, and the common factor is always a 2013 MacBook Air.
A "solution" doesn't seem to exist yet. The workaround at this point would be to either use any older Mac to do the syncing, or only connect and sync half of the devices at a time.

Security constraints not being applied after using custom login module

I am using form based authentication and I applied the custom login module - DBProcLoginModule to work with the embedded OC4J (JDeveloper 10.1.3.2). I have specified two security contraints in web.xml. The authentication is working correctly, however the security contraints are not being applied. All users are able to access all url resources. The security constraints were working properly before applying the custom login module. Pls help.

Hi,
if "All users are able to access all url resources" then this indicates that the RL isn't properly protected. If the authorization would fail then noone would have access and you would see error code 401
Make sure the role names in web.xml are the same as added by the LoginModule. Also make sure you set the dynamic.role property and the custom security provider property in the orion-application.xml

Note that the above is not required (because done automatically) if the custom LoginModule configuration is deployed through the orion-application.xml file

[SOLVED] I don't think my swap partition is being mounted?

My top command never indicates any of the swap being used, could it be because I don't use over a gig of ram?

and when I booted my machine I once saw it saying swap mount - Failed
not entirely sure now as it doesn't mention it.

USB Devices not being mounted

I have attempted to connect both my digital camera and iPhone, and neither have worked. Unfortunately, I can't find my camera lead, but I do have my phone. This is the output of journalctl:

So, I can view the files on the iphone when using an "Open" dialog in a GTK app, but not in Qt or any other apps. I'm using Plasma 5 desktop, accessing files and mounting with Dolphin

HFS+ partitions not being detected on Windows 7

Hello Apple Discussions community,
I recently bought a Mid 2014 Retina Macbook Pro, and installed Windows 7 on it using Bootcamp, I installed the appropriate Bootcamp drivers including the one responsible for HFS+ support (verified that they were installed correctly by looking at the /Windows/System32/drivers directory), and all updates available for Windows, but the Mac OS X HFS+ partition doesn't show up in Windows Explorer as it would on my older MacBook Pro late 2011, is there anything I may have missed to get HFS+ partitions to show up?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

DP macros are not being calculated correctly using process chain

Hello all!!
I have this DP planning book with two grids, which the second grid has some macros. I have to put this macros execution in a Process Chain, but it´s very strange because, when I execute the macro directly in the interactive planning the result is correct, but when I execute it using the process chain, the result is wrong.
The selection profile and the aggregation level in the Process Chain is the same that is being used in the selection profile.
I´ve already created the activities and also the planning job to be used in the process chain.
Could you help me?

I would suggest to create a test selection Id with a few products (say 5) and create a new job with this selection profile and include that job in the process chain and execute it. Please monitor the job log while porcessing... for this right click on the process in the process chain and select 'Display all jobs'..it will take you to the SM37 screen..there click the job log and spool file and observe what exactly the job is doing i.e whether its executing correctly or its skipping that process or something else is doing...
The second thing you can try out is by creating a separate dataview for the second grid in the test sytem and replicate the scenario and check if it has any impact, my guess is if process chain is not supporting the macros in the second grid

Not being able to use my recovery disks...

Hello!
I need to format my laptop (HP G42). So I decided to use my Recovery DVD's for it (the ones that I generated the first time that I used it, right when I bought it). Before that I backed up all my working files in a disc (DVD disc). Everything was OK so far but my problem began when I started the process of using the recovery media; it went OK with the first disk but when it was turn of the second and error appeared (unfortunately I didn't wrote it down).
I thought it was a problem with my DVD unit and I saved all the DVD Media in my external USB HDD. Tried to run the recovery manager from the external USB HDD but the recovery manager told me that "this media was not allowed"
How can I get my HP G42 laptop to its original factory settings? Somebody out there that can give a hint.
I will greatly appreciate any help given!

Auto Partitioning not working/Manual Partitions not being recognized

This has probably been asked before, but I don't know what to search for. (Yes, I did look first.)
So, essentially, when I run the Arch setup, and use the Auto-Prepare, it gives me this:
Error partitioning /dev/sda (see /dev/tty7 for details.)
So, I was like, okay, I'll just try partitioning manually. I got all the partitions set up with sizes and whatnot, but when I went into the Set Filesystem Mountpoints, is says:
Available disks:
/dev/sda: 78167 Mib
So I hit OK and it asks what partition to use as a swap, but there's only NONE as an option...
Oh, and I deleted the hard drive, so there's not a space issue. Also, it's a HP Pavilion desktop...don't know if that matters or not.

Make sure you're logged into the root account and not the arch account when you go to install.

IPad 2, mails not being sent when using reply to all feature

Hi,
Under BYOD we have iPads being allowed in our office environment. We have Lotus Notes Traveler servers setup for email access.
We are facing an issue with one executive users iPad 2 in the mail app.
The issue is when user is on WIFI and uses a long signature in the iPad and does a "reply to all" to any mail the mail goes and stays in the outbox.
Single reply or composing a new mail works fine. If we remove long signature, then "reply to all" works fine.
This issue is only with Wi-Fi, on GPRS everything works fine with long signature or without.
The iPad is on iOs 6, we tried resetting and restoring the iPad but the issue still persists.
Would really appreciate if you all could help me solve his issue.'
