  • How to get rid of white border around Container Div (main box)?

    I have look and look for a solution but couldn't find one. I'm developing a website but the main issue is the white (I changed it black so you can see what I'm talking about)  border around the website when i go to preview it from DW to Google Chrome or Internet Explorer.
    I've tried everything! from setting body margins all to zero but nothing works... can anyone help me?!

    No that's not what I'm talking about, the black div bot on the top is what i put, I put the entire style.css code in my last post, I'm talking about the white border on the right inside the scroll bar.
    let me explain from the bottom, let say I don't put Margin: 0 under Body  in my style.css . I get a white (I made it Green to show you better) border around my entire webpage looking like this:
    so this made me curios because I wanted to know why it gave me this border without putting Margin: 0 under Body in my Style.css sheet. so i went to inspect element inside Google Chrome and saw this:
    I was shocked because it automatically added 8 px in Margin around the body. So I took all the advice i was given in this thread and put the Margin: 0 ; under Body in my Style.css Sheet and it did this:
    for Some reason it says Margin 0 in the inspect element under body but put a default white border there to the right....
    I have explained this the best way possible. PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP ME?!
    ps. its doing this for all browsers so i know it not a chrome issue!

  • Unwanted white border around a div

    I placed a div that I am using for a background. Before I add an image I am testing it out by giving it a blue background. I have the width and height set to 100% and left to 0px and top to 0px. When I test it in a browser (IE 8) or view it in Design view it has a white border around it. There is no border setting or margin setting. Is there some preference setting in Dreamweaver that makes this aproximately 10px border? If so how do I get rid of it?

    Thank you both - that helped to clear up some of the issues but others remain. I'm assuming I can keep the dialogue going but will start a new thread if that is required.
    I uploaded the page and css files to my server. The page file is http://www.wlvs.com/untitled-1.html and the css file is http://www.wlvs.com/test.css  I ame using these file to try out styles. The background div (backgnd) will ultimately be an image but for now I'm just using a color. The "wraper" has an image that I gave a padding to at the top and bottom and for some reason it is showing a dark blue color. - I thought it would allow the background color to show through - shouldn't it??
    The other issue is centering the logo in the "header". I suppose I could use <center> but I am trying to figure out what is the css code for doing it. Nothing seems to work. I was able to center the "wraper" image but could not do the logo.
    Any help would be much appreciated...

  • Making circle border around a div

    Just a second ago I was finally able to turn a square div in a circle.  I been working on trying to achieve that for the last month.  The problem was that after I finished making my circle div I couldnt move the darn thing anymore.  I am trying to make round navigation buttons.  so anyway. I tried getting another page going and try that again without class this time since it seems I could not move teh divs as long as they were tied up to a class.  so I got all my button in the right place now but now I can't make them to go round anymore.... haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....... this program is driving me insane.  I am going to start crying soon lol

    Since divs are rectangular or square, you're trying to do something that is not what HTML is designed to do.
    CSS for circles:
    .circleBase {
        -webkit-border-radius: 999px;
        -moz-border-radius: 999px;
        border-radius: 999px;
        behavior: url(PIE.htc);
    .type1 {
        width: 100px;
        height: 100px;
        background: yellow;
        border: 3px solid red
    .type2 {
        width: 50px;
        height: 50px;
        background: #ccc;
        border: 3px solid #000
    .type3 {
        width: 500px;
        height: 500px;
        background: aqua;
        border: 30px solid blue
    HTML:
    <div class="circleBase type1"></div>
    <div class="circleBase type2"></div><div class="circleBase type2"></div>
    <div class="circleBase type3"></div>

  • How to add white border around my Banner?

    Hello,
    I am trying to add a small border around my banner.
    I tried to code it in but it didnt seem to work. Not sure why?
    So i added just without the border.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you!

    Here is the URL - http://www.the-electronic-cigarette.net

    Your header is defined as an id in style.css
    So, in your CSS:
    #branding {
              background: #ffffff url(images/sky.png) top left repeat-x;
              margin-bottom: -20px;
    Change to:
    #branding {
              border-color: fff;
      border-width: 3px;
              margin-bottom: -20px;
    That will create a 3 pixel border around the div.

  • Unwanted thin border around DIV

    So I have two pages (not online yet) in a site I am builing.
    They both have an arrow rollover (about 60x40px made in PS), The
    first one is fine and the arrows sits on the background seemlessly.
    I used the same master file, but changed the arrow color. Made
    another page but on this page I can see a thin white border around
    the 40x60 box the arrow sits in . The border bvalue is set to 0. It
    sits on black. I tried no BG color, and Black BG color and neither
    made a differnce. I am really stumped. What causes a thin white
    outline around and object/DIV like this?

    The image itself probably has the border in it. Remake the
    image and be
    careful when you export it to make sure there is no border.

  • Issue with container divs, and absolute/fixed positioning

    Hello everyone, I have an issue getting my divs to function properly. I have a container div and I want the table div to float inside (and move with page resize). Right now it doesnt move with the page (see photo).
    However, when I change the position to relative of that div, it moves under the container div and locks itself there.(Second photo)
    Any help would be great! Thanks!

    1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the div. The elements within this div have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the div itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the div and place a second div within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.

  • Firefox wont put border around image

    Hi
    Ive created a intro page for my new blog
    www.saltalamacchia.co.uk
    The problem I am having is that in firefox it isnt putting
    the containers border around the image.
    All's fine in IE. I can get arount it by putting a footer div
    in and making the image its background.
    However thats not the way I want to do it.
    Any ideas as to how I can correct this for firefox. ie an
    image in a container while still maintaining the containers border
    Thanks in advance
    Carlo

    Should work: wrap everying (content and footer) inside an
    outer wrapper div
    and place a border on that instead.

  • How to add a Border around an ImageView

    Hi all,
    I'm adding a row of photos in my application which are being resized to fit into some constrained space with Preserve Ratio true. They are put in a TilePane, with a Label below each photo.
    Basically, I give all my ImageViews a fitHeight of 120 pixels, and let them determine how wide they will become themselves in order to preserve the ratio.
    It looks great.
    However, I would like to add a Border around these images, as they sometimes fade too much into the background to clearly see the edges. ImageViews themselves donot support borders, so I'm forced to wrap these ImageViews inside another container.... but, no matter what container I use, the container itself refuses to resize itself to fit exactly around the image -- it seems to be completely oblivious of the real size of the Image -- with some parameters the ImageView will simply render itself outside the edges of its container, and with other parameters the container is wider than the ImageView leaving a gap on the right side.
    This is yet another instance where I want my ImageViews to resize themselves to fit the available space, resulting in a huge struggle to force these components into their proper straight-jacket. Anyone got any solutions for this?

    I'm afraid that also won't work, as the Image needs to be scaled, and the dimensions you are using are from the unscaled image.
    I've however am now using this class to get what I want, together with a stylesheet to specify the border it works and I get nice borders.

  • Can't get rid of white border around image

    http://www.gunnar.ca/laminatepage2.htm
    I created a rounded corner in photoshop for my table. I
    created a cell in the bottom left corner of the table and placed
    the gif. There is a thin whit border around the outer edge of the
    gif, so it doesn't look genuinely rounded. Can anyone tell me how
    to get rid of that so it looks like the table is actually rounded?
    Thank you!

    Because the table containing the GIF has a border. In your
    styleA.css
    stylesheet, the rule:
    .border {
    border: 1px solid #E5E5E5;
    adds a border to the table. Delete the rule. Of course - that
    may affect
    other things that use the .border class. Or - delete the
    class from the
    table tag.
    Several problems with the page:
    styles.css cannot be found
    sideNavStyles.css cannot be found
    34 vaildation errors:

  • White border around images in Easy Rotator

    I would like for there to be a small white border around my images when i put them into easy rotator.  I really just want there to be about a 5 px space around them that is really just the background.  I cant seem to find the right place in the code to make the div that holds the background color... which is white...to make it have like a 5 px padding..
    or even make a 5 px margin around all images.
    I even tried to place the border around my images when placing them in the rotator but the top still pushed all the way up and there was only the white space on the left right and obviously the bottom where the dots are that shows which number slide I am on.
    Where in the code will I find this so I can manipulate it... thanks again for always helping
    avery

    Without a link, it's all guesswork.
    Use Chrome or Firefox to preview your page.  Right Click and select Inspect Elements.  This should give you some idea of which CSS selectors are used by Easy Rotator.

  • Dynamic Border around image

    hi there,
    i have a main flash movie (main.fla) which has images placed
    on the screen.
    Each image has an invisible button placed on it.. (ie: the
    button has only
    the hitarea defined and no rollover, down etc.)
    NOTE: that the images are different in sizes. hence they have
    different
    width and height.
    I tried making a movieclip of 200 x 200 in size with a 1px
    border around it
    and dynamically making it adjust to the width and height of
    the images. BUT
    i seem to be hacing the following problem-
    1) for images that are larger in size than the border
    movieclip.. the border
    tends to thicken.
    2) for images that are smaller than the border movieclip..
    the border tends
    to get more thinner
    Required-
    OnRollover of an image.. it should have a border around it,
    inorder to
    highlite the selected image. Lets say, a 1px border and red
    in color. How do
    i achieve this?
    Would really appreciate if someone would provide a simple
    code to achieve
    this as i am not used to programming.
    Please help..
    thanx

    yep, thats cause when you stretch your mc the lines will
    stretch with it.
    if you are using flash 8, use the 9slice guides.
    for the mc that contains your border go into the preferances,
    and you will find a check box for the 9slice thingy (technical
    term)
    check that, then double click on the library symbel to edit
    it.
    you will find flash has drawn four dashed lines.
    move these so that they mark the inward edge of your borders.
    basically the area inside these guides stretches normally
    the corners don't stretch
    and the edges stretch either horizonally or vertically
    for more info look in the help.
    oh, and don't transform (rotate skew etc) your mc once on the
    stage or you'll loose your slices...

  • Black border around hotspots in Image map?

    I have an image map in my HTML file that contains three
    circular hotspots. When they're viewed in a browser, each one has a
    black border around it after it's clicked on. I've seen other help
    threads on the border problem talk about putting 'border:none" in
    the IMG tag, but there's no IMG tag..it's an image map and border
    is already set to "0". The code is below:
    <map name="satelliteLinks">
    <area shape="circle" coords="94,64,41" href="
    http://gi.leica-geosystems.com/LGISub5x307x0.aspx"
    target="_self" />
    <area shape="circle" coords="297,51,48" href="
    http://www.erdas.com/erdasCompanyNews.aspx"
    target="_self" />
    <area shape="circle" coords="517,59,43" href="
    http://www.erdas.com"
    target="_self" />
    </map>
    Any suggestions would be very helpful as my deadline to have
    this complete is today!!

    Thats the way the web works, its an accessibility feature, as
    its how
    you can tab around the page and see where the links are. Look
    at any
    website, click the link, and see what happens.

  • Black border around entire design

    I would like to make a black thin border around my entire design but the page is made of a table with atleast 6 rows and lots of different images. I don't think the border should be stagnant as the design changes from page to page. Check outjuliakuskin.com/jk2/home.html. Can someone please tell me how I can do this? In CSS? Thank you.

    You can use a wrapper division around anything and then set the css border attributes to the kind, size and color you want for that border. Just set an ID for the div so you know where it is being used
    Remember for this list that the space after less than < symbol must be removed for the code to work in your files, the following is just a sample of generally how it would look
    < div id="wrappertable">
    < table width="180" border="1" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="0">
    < tr>
    < td></td>
    < /tr>
    < /table>
    < /div>
    Then in your css editor
    make a div statement called wrappertable
    and set the css like you want it.
