Border Colors Problem

I am having a problem changing the color of a selected border within a cell. I try in inspector, but every time I change the drop down to thin, it automatically swithes back to none. When I try in the format bar, it does not allow me to change the color, even if I reset it back to none. I've tried deleting the lines and inserting new ones but the same thing happens. I have not "locked" the cell or anything so I am really confused. Please Help!! It is a real pain cause it ususally happens when I am on a roll, Murphy's Law.

Britainy,
This has been asked before and I think the key to this situation is following these steps in order as you open the process:
1. Select cell(s) in table
2. Choose desired border configuration (top, bottom, box, etc.)
3. Line type
4. Line width
5. Line color
Your post described your problem, but I'm wondering if you may have skipped step 2.

    When I printed with a green-colored border, it came out black, although all of the rest of the picture's colors were accurate. I don't see any settings that would over-ride the border color. Any ideas about what is the problem?
    Thanks,

    No idea. Just tested on Win XP Home with a green border 10 pixels and printed fine. What platform?

    I have never used my mac for desktop publishing before and am running into some real problems.  How do you put a border around a text box?  Can you edit the border - color, thickness, etc.?  Help!

    I think the best solution is to read Pages documentation, go to Help and you have a long list of options. Pages is capable of quite sophisticated things, some features are above Nisus or Mellel, so it is not so simple to summarize things in a few lines.

  • Changing shape border color

    I'm working with Photoshop Elements 6
    I've created a round rectangle. I want the shape to be black with a white border. However whenever I finalize and save, my white border disappears and I'm just left with a black shape. Edit > Stroke is'nt highlighted, and for the life of me I can't figure out how to change it.
    Whenever I change the colors from black and white I dont seem to have this problem. How can I change/modify the BORDER COLOR of my shapes?

    Steve,
    1. Simplify the shape layer, and Edit>stroke will be available
    2. CTRL+left click the shape layer in the layers palette - should see marching ants
    3. Edit>stroke - ?outside
    4. If your background is white, you will not see the white of the stroke - need contrast

  • Ratpoison border color

    Well, I dabbled in openbox and fluxbox for a while, but have switched back to ratpoison 'cos despite its flaws, its mouseless charm is lovable
    Anyway, although I haven't changed my ratpoisonrc from before, my border around urxvt is now white instead of black, and I don't know why... the border is black around firefox, as desired, but  the border is either white or transparent around urxvt.
    The Xdefaults options I have affecting urxvt are:
    *foreground: #B0B0B0
    ! Green
    !*background: #202f37
    !*background: #20372f
    ! Brown
    !*background: #372f20
    ! Blue
    !*background: #101520
    !*background: #151825
    *background: #232b42
    ! Black + DarkGrey
    *color0: #000000
    *color8: #666666
    ! DarkRed + Red
    *color1: #b45151
    *color9: #fe8686
    ! DarkGreen + Green
    *color2: #aece92
    *color10: #97fa97
    ! DarkYellow + Yellow
    *color3: Khaki3
    *color11: #efe58b
    ! DarkBlue + Blue
    *color4: #2797d8
    *color12: #86cdea
    ! DarkMangenta + Mangenta
    *color5: #aa6eaf
    *color13: #cb96ce
    !DarkCyan + Cyan
    *color6: #418179
    *color14: #71bebe
    ! LightGrey + White
    *color7: #bebebe
    *color15: #ffffff
    *saveLines: 32767
    *scrollTtyKeypress:true
    *scrollTtyOutput: false
    *scrollBar: false
    *internalBorder: 20
    urxvt*loginShell: true
    urxvt*termName: rxvt-unicode
    urxvt*inheritPixmap: true
    urxvt*shading: 40
    urxvt*font: xft:Bitstream Vera Sans Mono:pixelsize=11
    urxvt*tintColor: #405070
    Even when I get rid of the most likely culprits - *inheritPixmap, *shading, *tintColor and *internalBorder, the border still remains invisible.
    So my main problem is getting the border back around urxvt
    Also though, is it possible to change the border color in ratpoison? I spent hours customising my .rc for it, and never found an option to alter the border color...
    I wouldn't even be bothered about having a border tbh, but urxvt won't sit right up against the screen edges, despite ratpoison's padding being 0. It won't even work when  urxvt's *externalBorder: 0 is set in Xdefaults.

    Very OT:
    When it comes to schooling, I have a degree in Computer Engineering.  That is, basically an Electrical Engineering degree, with low level programming (I can recall using 7 different assembly flavors, along with C and C++, not to mention design languages such as Verilog and VHDL, plus matlab).  Most people in the field that I actually work in are Computer Scientists.  Now, the difference when it comes to knowledge usually isn't that great.  People know how to code fairly well.  However, when it comes to methodology, I feel that the engineering disciplines are superior.
    Most engineering training, from a general standpoint, is all about diagnosis of an issue.  A lot of time is spent dealing with design from a *generic* point of view.  It may be "design a bridge for this ravine" or "design a 128bit ALU" or "design an algorithm that computes the number of LEDs lit up".  In most engineering disciplines, this methodology is the same.  You go about it the same way.
    When it comes to Computer Science, it seems the methodology is left out, and people tend to come into the "real world" with this understanding that there is no general way to do something.  You design using UML and Use Cases and that's it.
    It's the same when it comes to 'fixing' something.  Fixing a problem is really just re-designing the original solution (the original solution was a 'fix' for something anyway, wasn't it?).  I find myself to have very good skills when it comes to diagnosing issues, and am usually pretty quick about it.  That said, there is knowledge of the task at hand involved - I know, from a generic overview, how window managers work (hell, I've written a few mini ones just to get a feel for it), and thus can 're-design' the color handling fairly easilly.
    I wish Computer Science would grasp the methodologies used in the engineering disciplines... it pays alot.

  • Border color changes

    I am building a page as a complete web design newbie, but am
    having good results (I think). Anyway, I have boxes, with borders,
    for navigational links on my webpage (Home, links, About us, etc.).
    The problem is that the borders change color dependin on what
    browser I am viewing in. I am using color #999999 (dark gray) for
    the border, with a thin, grooved edge. In IE6, the color is as
    planned, but in every other browser it seems to come out as light
    gray. The border appears as the darker color in DW8. Here's the
    link so you check the code:

    PLEASE NOTE - this is a temp site with a working copy of the

    border color changing in the different browsers and how to fix it.
    Thanks ahead of time for the help
    Justin L

    You have way too many styles there for your .TopLinks you can
    just use
    shorthand method:
    remove all the border attributes and use:
    border: 1px solid #999999;
    Groove and thin are not going to be cross browser compatible,
    probably why
    you are seeing a difference between browsers.

  • Changing navi bar border color

    Hello, I need to change the border of my navi bar on the left
    hand side. I do not want the grey but a red and cannot figure out
    which part of the menu bar to change... You can see this
    goldenagecheese.com/newsitepages
    Thanks if someone can help me put the last finishing touches
    on my site it would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Also please check my site out and give me any suggestions for
    my site that would make it nicer.
    Thanks!!

    Hello,
    You have another rule over-riding the one Ken pointed out.
    So, as Ken said, adjust the border color here:
    /* Outermost menu container has borders on all sides */
    ul.MenuBarVertical
    border: 3px solid #FF0000;
    Then, get rid of the border color in this rule so it doesn't
    over-ride the
    red with gray:
    ul.MenuBarVertical
    margin: 0;
    list-style-type: none;
    font-size: 100%;
    cursor: default;
    width: 10em;
    padding: 0;
    font-weight: bold;
    border-color: #660000; <<<<<<<<
    Delete this
    I'm sorry to point this out, but have you looked at the site
    with the
    browser's text size setting 1 level higher than what your
    browser was when
    you designed it? It's severely broken and illegible in parts,
    especially
    around the form.
    Here's a screen shot from FireFox:
    http://tnsgraphics.com/chtext.htm
    This is because of the numerous APDivs (a.k.a Layers) which
    cause this
    problem when used as a layout tool.

  • How do I change an image border color to another color - Dreamweaver CS5?

    Good day,
    I have just learned how to add a border to an image with Dreamweaver CS5 within the Properties Inspector.
    After typing the width in pixels in the Border Text Field and pressing the Enter key, Dreamweaver created a black border.
    How do I change the image border color to another color?

    I added your suggested rule to the Style Sheet "in any order" as you explained. See the image below.
    However this did not change the image border from black to light blue. In fact, nothing changed.
    Nothing changed because the CSS that has been written into DW is incorrectly written.
    You want the following (exactly as written below)
    img {border: 4px solid #0062C8;}
    You've inadvertently wrapped the rule inside a #main_image container rendering it meaningless.
    It's easiest to go into Code View and change
    #main_image {
         img {border: 4px solid #0062C8;
    to
    img { border: 4px solid #0062C8; }
    The Property Inspector added a border exactly as I wanted it, other than the color I wanted the border to be. What is the use of this function in Property Inspector if it can add a border within Property Inspector but not let me change the COLOR of the black border that Property Inspector added, to another color?
    That's a deceptively simple, yet valid, question with a long answer.
    Back in the dark old days of web design web designers were restricted to inline HTML formatting which offered  border properties but no colors.
    CSS styling offers colors and more but has to be written differently.
    These days. it's best to avoid HTML formatting. Unfortunately border="4px" in the PI still allows it. But does not permit color.
    Does anyone else out there ever add color borders to their IMAGES (not the containing box for the image) ?
    Yes, using CSS.

  • Lightroom 4 color problem

    I imported tiff images into Lightroom 4 that were scanned by DigMyPics.com.  The color  of the images look good on the Windows 7 photo viewer.  It looks horrible in Lightroom 4.  My monitor is callibrated, the import develope setting is set to "none" , the box is unchecked "apply auto tone adjustments".   I think that the windows viewer is showing the accurate color of the scan and LR is not.  I don't think DigMyPics would send this awful color.  What could the issue be?

    Yes, that certainly looks like a problem with the Lightroom rendering. Skin tones and red in general is clearly off, while Windows Photo Viewer looks good.
    I'm almost certain this is a problem with the monitor profile. As troubleshooting, try to set sRGB as monitor profile (or Adobe RGB if your monitor is wide gamut), and see if the difference persists. But try to recalibrate first.
    What calibrator and what monitor?

  • A color problem in Apple's publishing App

    I was wondering if you could help me with this problem,I really need some help,and here it is:
    There is a Color problem in Mac publishing applications like Pages and Keynote,including iBooks Author,which really confuse me a lot。
    When you use a certain color space(sRGB IEC61966-2.1 in this case)to create some colors with Apps like Illustrator CS6,Indesign CS6 & Photoshop CS6 etc. ,they look totally fine。BUT when you use iBooks Author (V2.0)to create the very same color with the very same color space,colors still look fine in the color panel,and here comes the problem:they look totally lousy in the actual document!!In fact,they look much lighter and faded。(See Image 1&2)
    Above:Image 1
    Above:Image 2
    And this is also terrible with photos you import。(See Image 3)
    Above:Image 3
    Please tell me what I can do to solve this problem。I know maybe this is some sort of “basic” and “general” knowledge,but I really need your help。And I can't thank you enough if you can provide some effective solutions。

    As far as I can see,  the colour pallet and how colours are seen in any app on YOUR machine will depend on the computers System Preferences>Displays>Colour - choose your preferred setting.
    I suggest first that you ensure that your colour profile settings are the same ( as your computer)  in whatever Adobe application or in fact any outside image processor you use.
    Creating or using a colour profile in Adobe and having a different profile on your system - will tend  to  give different colour hues.
    A point also to remember is whatever you set up and is  transferred to your product... when seen on an iPad may well be totally different again due to peculiarities and contrast / brighness setting of the iPad user.

    Just so you'll know, this is not a good way to link to the default file in any folder (including the root folder. These links *should* be like this -
    <a href="/HTML/">Catalog</a>
    <a href="/">Home</a>
    without mentioning the default filename. That's because when the site is spidered, the spider will think you have two different pages (in this case both default and index.html), and may penalize you for having "two" pages with identical content. So, anytime you are linking to the default file within a folder, just remove the filename from the link, and just link to the folder instead.

  • Photoshop - Motion - DVDSP Color Problem

    This message is crossposted in the Motion Forum because I'm not sure where the solution is to be found...
    I'm putting together a dvd and I wanted to create transition animations to go between the menus. I've run into a bit of a color problem, however. To explain:
    I created my main menu as a layered photoshop document (8-bit RGB, NTSC colorspace). I brought that menu into Motion, preserving all layers. I animated those layers in motion so that at the end of the animation they were another menu on the dvd, then I exported the last frame of the animation, brought it back into photoshop, and made everything line up so that it precisely matched the final frame of the animation, then saved that PSD as a new layered document. Finally, in DVD Studio Pro, I brought in the two Menu PSDs and the animated transition.
    The problem I'm running into is that the color on the transition animation is washed out and somewhat desaturated compared to the menu PSDs. Rather than the seamless transition from layered menu PSD to animation and back to layered menu PSD, you can see this altered color "pop" on the animation.
    Here's what I've checked and tried:
    -I've exported the motion project as every codec that made any kind of sense (Animation NTSC, Apple Pro Video NTSC, etc).
    -I've brought the Motion project directly into DVD Studio Pro, rather than exporting it.
    -Using the color inspector in both Photoshop and Motion, I can see that all RGB values match exactly as they should.
    -When I exported a frame of the animation and brought it back into Photoshop to create the second layered menu, the color matched exactly. In fact, I did the alignment using the "difference" layer mode, and there was no color shift at all.
    So... any ideas?
    Also: I'm going from these layered menus to a video track (first frame matches the layered menu) to another layered menu (matching the final frame of the video track)... that is the most sensible way to have animated transitions between menus, right?
    Thanks in advance for any insights.
    -W

    Well, I found a solution... DVDSP didn't like the image in NTSC, but it seems to work with Generic RGB, provided I redo all of the animation from scratch using the same Generic RGB PSDs. A bit of a pain, but I suppose that's why I did this test after completing only one of the many animations the project will demand.
    Thanks everyone for the insights.
