Borders Around Tables in Pages

What is a very easy way to put borders around tables in pages (but without the control etc. type commands), but have no gridelines around the individual cells?

I'm not sure what you mean by "control etc. type commands", but here's something to try.
1) Select your table
2) In the table inspector, under *Cell Borders*, click on the icon that looks like a +. This selects all of the interior borders.
3) Still under *Cell Borders*, click on the line type popup, and choose "None."
If you want new tables to always look like this in this document, select the table again, and choose *Format > Advanced > Define Default Table Style*.

  • How can I change the thickness of the cell border of a table in Pages for iPad ?

    Hi,
    i want to change the thickness of cell borders in tables in Pages for iPad to at least 2pt, better 3pt.
    How can I change the thickness in the iOS Version of Pages ?
    Thanks

    try this ...
    In ur table call this
    ColorRenderer cell=new ColorRender();
    // for(int i=0;i<table.getModel().getColumnCount();i++){
    // TableColumn mod=this.getColumn((this.getModel().getColumnName(i)));
    mod.setCellRenderer(cell);
    And ur ColorRender calss should override DefaultTableCellRenderer like this
    class ColorRenderer extends DefaultTableCellRenderer {
    protected int align;
    public ColorRenderer(int align) {
    this.align=align;
    public Component getTableCellRendererComponent(JTable table,
    Object value, boolean isSelected, boolean hasFocus, int row,
    int column) {
    setHorizontalAlignment(align);
    super.getTableCellRendererComponent(table, value, isSelected,
    hasFocus, row, column);
    if(col==4){
    setBackground(Color.cyan);
    return this;

    Use css:
    Give your table a class:
    <table class="myTableBorder" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
    Css selector (insert into your linked css stylesheet or into the <head></head> section of your pages code:
    .myTableBorder {
    border: 1px solid #ccc;
    or apply it to the table <td> cell
    .myTableCellBorder {
    border: 2px solid red;
    <td class="myTableCellBorder">
    if you decided to put the css selector in the <head></head> section of your pages code then use <style>  </style> tags wrapped around the selector

  • How to Put Border Around Table, But Without Interior Gridlines?

    1) I want to use tables in pages without a solid line border on the exterior, but can't seem to do this without making the table have lines or gridlines in the interior of the table around the various cells, which I do not want. How can I do this?
    2) Is there any way to permanently turn off gridlines in tables when I use them in a pages document?

    I answered my own question from another forum. Here it is:
    Select your table.
    Open the Inspector.
    Choose the Table tab (third one).
    From the Cell Borders section, click on the internal lines button (2nd last one) and choose "None" for line selection.
    Now select the external border button and choose the appropriate line thickness and colour.

  • Using tables in Pages 5.1

    Using tables in Pages 5.1 is a pain in the neck. When I create a full page table the mobility arrows disappear into the space above the page and effectively become inaccessible. I personally don't understand the need for this function and wish the designers would remove it as it really slows down productivity.
    I've tried to increase the size of the window around the pages document but only the sides and bottom allow for this to happen. The top border automatically aligns with the top of the window and I can't figure out how to seperate them..
    Does anyone know how to divorce the top of the document from the window? Or know of any other ways to work with full-page tables in pages?
    Many thanks

    Trash Pages 5.1 and use Pages 09.

  • Inserting a table in Pages from Numbers

    After inserting a table from numbers, it's sometimes not possible to adjust it's dimensions in Pages anymore. At the same time i can't select most of the options to change the tables layout behavior. When i add a table in Pages all options are available in the same textframe? Can't find the difference...
    Any idea?

    You are right with floating / inline.
    But you are not right depending the development of the program. For users edditing text it is completly inapprehensible why the behavior of table adjustements should change, just because it is inline and breaking to the next page, while the same table keeps beeing adjustable when it is displayed on one page again by e.g. adding linies above in the textbox?
    That's stupid, like you would judge on Microsofts Word... Programs should support users work and not the other way around.
    There is no way to change font-sizes if you can't read the content anymore...

  • Borders around .png links only in firefox

    I just put together a website and when I view it in Safari the menu bar (in the lower left corner) lines up where it should without any borders.  The problem is when I view it in firefox it doesn't line up right and there is a white border around it.  (Also borders around other .png files set as links - "[resolute media]" at the top and on the "contact" page it shows up again around the facebook link.)
    Any ideas??
    thanks...

    Another way is to just add '0' to your image border setting in the Property Inspector.
    Bob's way is excellent too especially if you have many images. However it will effect all images even those that you may want to have a border.
    Either way is good depending on your personal preference and situation.

    Edit: Didn't notice the 'a' in Bob's example to effect only links. My mistake .... if you have a few images with links then definately Bob's way is likely your best option. Sorry.

  • Moving Numbers Tables to Pages '08

    Hi guys,
    I've used Numbers to create some tables that were larger than 8.5x11. To fit them on a single sheet, I used the Content Scale slider. Works like a charm.
    Now, when I go to copy one of these tables to put it in Pages, I get the original, full-size version of the table when I paste it. Needless to say, that does not work at all - the tables are all out of whack and spread across multiple pages.
    How do you copy a Numbers table to Pages if the Numbers table is scaled down below 100%? I want the table to look exactly the same in Pages as it does in Numbers. And yes, I've already sent Apple feedback to let them know that this is a problem.
    But while I wait for Numbers/Pages '09, does anyone have a workaround that doesn't involve PDFs?

    Hi Richard,
    Thanks for the reply, but the problem is not empty rows and columns. When I created the tables I used 14 point Myriad Pro. The table (which is an income statement) is too large to fit on a single page at that font size. I did not worry about it, however, because I planned to just scale it down to make it fit.
    The real problem is that when you copy a table from Numbers, you get the table as it appears in the "Normal" view, NOT as it appears in the "Page Layout" view. Hence, when you paste it, the table is no longer scaled down like it was in Numbers' Page Layout view. That's infuriating - it's like setting your font to Helvetica and having it come out of your printer in Courier New! It makes the entire content scaling feature in Numbers useless if you plan to use your spreadsheets outside of that app.
    What's really frustrating is that so much of Numbers is utterly great! It has so many features that are just fantastic and make my life easy. But for each of those features, there's a basic, fundamental item like copying scaled-down tables to Pages or double-line cell borders that is missing. And the real shame is that none of it will be fixed before Numbers '09.

  • White borders around photos with IOS7

    Since updating to IOS7, why do my photos have white borders around them even in landscape? I have looked in settings and anywhere I can think of and can not fined a way to get rid of it. This has to be something that I am overlooking. Any help is appreciated!
    It doesn't matter if the picture is taken in portrait or landscape, it has a thick white border around the picture.

    No, the white borders do not appear in iWeb. As far as the browser, sometimes I can export the site and it renders fine, other times the white borders appear.
    Like I said before, the graphics with the borders aren't consistent. Different fraphics have the white border if I re-publish the site to a folder.
    Please note... unlike other questions posted in this topic, my white lines do not disappear when the page is loaded. They stay there... and ONLY on the index page.

  • Unwanted browser borders around active tabbed panel tabs

    I'm getting unwanted borders around the active tabs in my Spry tabbed panels that seem to be added by the browser. For example I'm geting a fuzzy caterpillar border in Safari. Does anyone know how to turn off this effect? Thanks

    Its called "outline" or focus borders, its in the browser for accessibility reasons. So when users use keyboard navigation, they know where they are on the page. If don't want it. You can remove it by adding outline:none to the css selector that targets the tabs

  • Table Overflow - Page Break - Multiple tables in Body page in Adobe forms

    Hi,
    I have to do a payslip in Adobe forms. I am using only Adobe for print forms.
    Please redirect me to correct category if this is wrong category.
    I am customizing standard form PYXXFO_SAP_PAYSLIP_IN01. (payslip for india through hrforms)
    The standard form is entirely positional. So, if the contents of the table overflow, they are overwritten on the contents below.
    So, I have to make corrections to adjust the payslip for table overflows.
    My changes:
    1. There are total 8 tables in form. I created content areas for each of them and assigned the subforms/tables to those content areas.
    2. I converted the body page from positional to flowed, and applied the related pagebreak settings.
    The problem I am facing:
    When the earnings table overflows, the rest of the content is displayed on second page, in a continuous manner.
    eg.
    The structure of the form is:
    Header details
    earnings table   deductions table   form16 table
    Other tables
    leave details
    now, if the earnings table overflows -
    page 1:
    Header details
    earnings table (page break)
    Page2:
    (continued)earnings table
    page3:
    (continued)earnings table   deductions table   form16 table
    Other tables
    leave details
    In this, the deduction table and form16 table is shown on 3rd page. I wish to show them on the first page as they have not overflown.
    I am sure, I am missing something very small, but I am unable to understand what.
    I tried all the possible combinations.
    Does the main subform needs to be "positional"?
    They way I expect it is:
    page 1:
    Header details
    earnings table (page break)    deductions table   form16 table
    Other tables
    leave details
    Page2:
    {Header details - It would be great if I could have this}
    (continued)earnings table
    page3:
    {Header details}
    (continued)earnings table
    Also, If this is successful, I would like to apply the same feature to rest 6-7 tables.

    This was a duplicate question.
    Kindly remove this thread if possible.
    The solution for this thread is as follows:
    I was sort of hoping that there should be some standard functionality available for this, it being Adobe, but there is not.
    So, I had to run a work around. Quite a lengthy one.
    What the problem was:
    I needed to print around 4-5 tables adjacent to each other in single page and in verticals. What Adobe does is: it fills 1st table, then 2nd then 3rd and so on. So, if there is a page break due to large entries in the adobe, the contents breaks with rest of the tables being blank, but the content being filled sequentially.
    What I did was:
    I created a grand table with the structure having all the tables embedded in it. eg.
    data: begin of grand_table occrs 0,
    table_A type table_a_table_type,
    table_B type table_b_table_type,
    table_c type table_c_table_type,
    end of grand_table.
    Hence, I could include all the data in a one single grand table, and put the data in sequential manner.

  • Tables in Pages'06 - some doesn't make sense

    Hi all,
    I bought recently iWork'06 for my first time ever. After hangig around with M$Word, I focused on Pages. So I gave it a try.
    However, I got some issues about tables in Pages.
    1. You place a table in your document,in an formatted area (style-assigned area), on error oh my good (only font-formated and list-formated). Try to change the width of an 2-column-table... You need to clear the whole thing an restart with an unformated/non-styled area... It happend to me today.
    2. Why is the styling for a table, i.e border-style and boder-color, in the grafics-related menu? It'd be better for the workflow if it's there where it belong to, in the table-menu!
    cheers
    Powerbook 15", 1.5GHz, 2GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    As with border (stroke) colors, fills and other
    graphic-related items, duplicate resources? You will
    find text in the tables are manipulated in the text
    inspector so why not graphic related items in the
    graphics inspector?
    Because, in my opinion, a table is not "really" a graphic element. I can select each column or an entire row, what then? I need to go to another menu to select, if I want a border or not.
    Ok, probably it's all a bit unlikely or new for me, and I need to play around a bit more to get the Pages workflow around...
