Borders missing in PDF/Word doc.

Hello all,
I've got a number of images to which I've applied borders in
the development environment. These appear when I build Microsoft
HTML Help, but are missing in either the PDF or .DOC output. I've
looked around quite a bit, but can't find any settings that would
explain this.
Thoughts anyone?
Thanks in advance,

You probably manually added the borders, right? If you create
a style (such as ImageBordered) and assign it to the image, the
style should get mapped to the Word/PDF output.
Good luck,
Leon

  • How to merge PDF/Word Doc with the Form I created?

    Hi All,
Which software should I use to merger PDF/Word Doc with the form I created.
One more question is I want the form page to show up right next to the ending or in the middle of the word doc . How to manange the placement of the sections?
Please do let me know, its urgent.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Hari.

    1) The option of creating the whole thing as a LiveCycle form means that you need to convert the Word document using LiveCycle Designer. The import utility won't preserve the fidelity of the Word document the way printing to the PDF print driver does. It will likely require a fair bit of tweaking in Designer to get it looking like you want. You will likely get frustrated, since Designer is not a word processor.
    2) You can create PDF forms in Acrobat without launching LiveCycle Designer. While they look the same to a user as forms created with LiveCycle Designer, behind the scenes they are very different. When you create a form in Acrobat you overlay fields on top of an existing PDF document that you had previously created using the PDF print driver. There is an extensive scripting model for these "Acroforms". The technology pre-dates LiveCycle yet Adobe continues to improve the two forms models in parallel. In Acrobat, open a PDF and select tools-->forms-->show forms toolbar.
    3) I recommend this option if it's feasible. I don't know what you mean by "doesn't show up in a flow". If you're going to use the form in Acrobat 7, then save it as Acrobat 7 compatible in LiveCycle Designer. This is one of the options in the Save As dialog of LiveCycle Designer.

  • 12.1 - AddMultiPageBitmap Rule  - UNIX - PDF & Word Doc Not Supporting

    Hi
I am trying to add a word/pdf document using the AddMultiPageBitmap Rule in Documaker 12.1 in Solaris . We use the PDFPrint Driver for generating the PDF Output. I see that rule works properly when we have a Tiff file to be added.
When we trying adding the PDF document , we don't see any error but the document doesnt get added.
For the word doccument , we get the below error and the document doesnt get added either:
DM20316: Error in AddMultiPageTIFF: An error occurred while attempting to load or include images from the TIFF <../mpath/eup.doc>.
Do we need to add any options in the INI file to support PDF/Word Document. Also the error files refers to "AddMultipageTIFF" even though we have used the AddMultiPageBitmap in the section.
    Rule : ADDMULTIPAGEBITMAP
    Data : File(../mpath/eup.doc)
We tried using the Type option for the PDF document as below , Not sure what should be used for the Word Document.
    Rule : ADDMULTIPAGEBITMAP
    Option I : Data : File(../mpath/eup.pdf) , TYPE(P)
    Option II : Data : File(../mpath/eup) , TYPE(P)
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Steven
You got it absolutely right. I set the TGC variable to the direkctory where the software was copied and it was able to import a PDF. As per the 12.0 rulebook(Page no :285: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17552_01/rul_book.pdf), the rule is expected to work for the .DOC file type (Microsoft Word). But when I try using a word document , the rule doesn't import the word doc. I tried the below options and none of them doesn't work.
    Option 1: File(/../eup.doc)
DM20316: Error in AddMultiPageTIFF: An error occurred while attempting to load or include images from the TIFF </../eup.doc>.
    Option 2: File(/../eup)
DM20316: Error in AddMultiPageTIFF: An error occurred while attempting to load or include images from the TIFF </../eup>.
    Option 3: File(/../eup) , TYPE(P)
No Error. But the word document doesnt get embeded in the PDF.
    Option 4: File(/../eup.doc) , TYPE(P)
    Error Type: syntaxerror
    Current Object: nostringval
    Module: psiparse.c
    Line Number: 203
    File Offset: 0
    WARNING: size==0 @ sysalloc.c # 251
    Unable to allocate image buffer
Also the infomation to import .DOC file type is available only in the 12. Manual . I couldn't see the support for .DOC type explicitily mentioned in the 12.1 rulebook.
    Please advise.
Once again , thanks a lot for your timely responses.

  • Letters and Words missing after converting Word doc to pdf

While using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to convert MS Word 2007 documents, letters or complete words will go missing.  This can happen in the middle of a sentence or at the beginning.   I have tried saving the document a couple of times and reconverting with the same result.
    Thanks

This is due to a Windows bug. See if this Windows hotfix helps:

  • InterMedia release 1 vs. 2 doesn't support same PDF - Word docs?

    Greetings:
We are using both releases of Oracle 9i on two different boxes, and therefore, have both releases of InterMedia's search component. What we are finding is that the two InterMedia releases do not support the same versions of standard office documents, such as PDF and MS XP office docs, when performing searches within the text of these kinds of documents. There may be types of files affected.
    For example:
    InterMedia InterMedia
Release 1 Document Type Release 2
    Adobe 3.0 PDF Adobe 4.0
    ? PPT ?
    ? DOC ?
    ? XLS ?
What we want to find-out are the various versions of popular file types that will search the doc text body that work with the two releases. As noted above, we've found that PDF's created in Adobe 3.0 work with release 1 but not 2; then, PDF's created in Adobe 4.0, will work with release 2, but not 1.
Any assistance and,or, guidance would be greatly appreciated, if anyone has been able to mapp-out the docs we have question marks by. Our goal is to be able to tell our content admins to upload only docs created that InterMedia rel. 2 can fully search as this is the release we'll trying to move to.
    Best regards...
    Ed in Tampa

    FYI...
Per their documentation, Oracle Text (previously called Intermedia Text) release 2, should be able to search the following:
    PDF - Portable Document Format
Acrobat Versions 2.1, 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 including Japanese PDF.
Release 1 should work with the following:
    PDF - Portable Document Format
    Versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 including Japanese PDF.
For the other popular file formats, see these two links; rel 2 appears backward compatible:
    Release 1: http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle9i/doc_library/901_doc/text.901/a90121/afilsup3.htm#625140

  • Repeatedly asked what program to oper PDF, Word, Wav, etc. despite defaults being set in tools, box checked

Despite setting defaults for PDF, Word Docs, Wav files and box being checked. I am asked EVERY time; "what program would you like Firefox to use."

Can you post an example link that is publicly accessible?
Sites can cause the download prompt to appear regardless of your settings, using one of two methods:
    * Identifying the file as a generic MIME type using the ''Content-Type: application/octet-stream'' header.
    * Sending the ''Content-Disposition: attachment'' header.
You can check if that's the case by examining the response headers for the file request in question, using the Web Console (Ctrl+Shift+K).

  • From Word DOC to Acrobat PDF... borders and lines get screwed up.

I've been looking this up for days now and have yet to find a solution.
I have a MS Word document that has a bunch of tables with borders and sometimes just text with borders for stylistic reasons. In Word, it all looks perfect.
But, when I convert it to PDF using Acrobat, many of those borders get screwed up in various random ways.
Sometimes certain borders get thicker, sometimes thinner, sometimes invisible altogether. Sometimes it's only certain lines of the same border (just the left side, or just the top). I see no real pattern to what's causing it to only happen in certain cases only.
What makes it extra annoying is that if I zoom in or out a certain amount, the borders will look the way they are supposed to look. Some will look perfect at 100% zoom only, and some will look perfect at 75% zoom only.
This has been driving me insane. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Converting Word (table) to pdf - lines screwed up - googled as far back as 2004.
    BUG STILL exists. HELP/FIX PLEASE?

Trying to convert any word doc with tables (& shading) to PDF
    - basic table, black borders throughout
    - shaded headings, black outline border
    - shaded subheadings, black outline border
    However when convert to PDF:
    - 'displays' NO top cell border for some/all shaded rows
    - shows diff thickness lines
    - each conversion, diff lines missing/incorrectly sized
    - however converted pdf prints perfectly fine
Adobe know about the bug, per PRMW's (Paul's) post on 2009-07-15 15:44:34, however only offered a painful time consuming workaround using non-freeware Adobe Pro:
    http://acrobatusers.com/forum/pdf-creation/word-pdf-table-lines-missing-or-faded#comment-7 8139
    - "It is not feasable to edit 200+ tables in the PDF every time the PDF is generated, as we maintain the original in word.
    - "This complete issue seems to have been passed off by Adobe as no problem and that there is a work around. I consider this an unsatisfactory response from a major product supplier.
Microsoft TechNet & NitroPdf said it's an Adobe issue & to contact Adobe to fix the bug.
    Tried, but proble exists:
    * Word 2010 > File  > Save & Send > Create PDF/XPS Document

    * Word 2010 > Print > PDFCreator

    * Nitro Pdf Reader  > Convert From File > (even worse)
    * www.pdfonline.com > Word to Pdf         (even worse)
    * www.wordtopdf.com > email: Sorry, an unexpected conversion failure occurred when converting your file.
    Software:
    * Word 2010 - tried with .docx & .doc (97 to 2003)
    * Adobe Reader 8.2.6 (freeware), then upgraded to Adobe Reader X 10.0.1 (freeware)

Seems to display better at 300%, but lines still not right (even at 2400%), but who views pdf's at this zoom?

  • When I convert a Word doc to PDF, some of the page numbers are missing.

I'm using Word 2003 and Acrobat Pro 7.0. When I print out the Word doc all the page numbers are there, but when I concert to PDF most of them are missing. Any suggestions?

How are you converting? What are the job settings for the PDF conversion? What if you print to the Adobe PDF printer?

  • Hyperlinks missing after converting Word 03 docs to PDF using Acrobat Pro 9.

I'm having an issue when I convert a Word 2003 doc using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 to pdf that the hyperlinks are disappearing.  I've had success with this in the past but for some reason now the hyperlinks never carry over or show up in the pdf.  I also have a good amount of bookmarks making up a table of contents within my word doc that aren't making the conversion either.
I've spent a few hours thumbing through options in both the pdf printer and word as well as searching online with no luck.
    Kind regards,
    Tim

Alright, I've got link creation process working again.
However, now I have another technical issue with how the links are being handled.
My work has an Intranet site that these Polices and Procedures are being accessed from (http://is-intranet/policiesandprocedures/).  For some reason when you open one of these forms on our Intranet site and click one of the embedded links (that are linking to another one of the Policy and Procedure PDFs) it's adding extra text to the path. i.e. open 2.01 Employee Handbook when I click a link embedded in that form to http://is-intranet/policiesandprocedures/3.01 Technology Usage Policy it's adding an extra is-intranet to the beginning of the path http://is-intranet/is-intranet/policiesandprocedures/3.01 Technology Usage Policy causing it to not open.
I cannot seem to prevent this from happening.  Now, if I go through the form and look at the link it's correct and if re-link it to the other form everything works fine and the path of the link in the PDF doesn't change.  But now the link works correctly when opening the forms from our Intranet Site.
    It's a very confusing issue.

  • Unable to convert Microsoft Word doc. to PDF in Words (there is no response)

Unable to convert Microsoft Word doc to PDF in Words (Does not respond) or Create PDF from a Word doc. in Adobe Acrobat X Standard 10.1.1 with all updates installed. I receive apop-up saying "Missing PDF Maker Files: Dou you want to run the installer in Repair Mode"  I have done this several times. I have un-installrd and re installed the program twice. Still does not work. I'm running Windows 7 Home version and Microsoft Office XP 2002. This is a brabd new Acrobat program right out of the box. Suggestions Please.

In WORD 2002, I believe you can only print to the Adobe PDF printer. I think that WORD 2003 is the first compatible with AA X. Check out http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333504.html.

  • Having issues created a .pdf from a Word .doc.

I tried converting a Word doc today, and was given the error "Missing PDF file maker. Do you want to run this in repair mode?  I click yes, it scans (for several minutes) then no document.  A document icon appears on the opening page, yet when you click on it, it says: ERROR – this document cannot be found."
I tried two other documents I scanned into PDF files – both from excel sheets – no problem. Since this was installed I haven't had any issues until recently. I cannot think of anything that has changed since then.
Is it possible this is a problem with Word?

Well I'm having the same issue. Right now I have a very simple, one page Word doc I want to PDF before emailing. I hit print, chose PDF, picked where I wanted to save file, then . . . Adobe starts to open Word - but only the "title page" comes up and hangs for . . . ever. Adobe says "Please wait, reading PDF file . . . ".
When I open Task Manager - it shows both Word and Adobe PDF as running.
I checked for updates. I can't think of what to do next?
I can chose Adobe PDF in my print menu, I have  new laptop running Windows 7 and Microsoft Home Premiere 2010.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm doing a 'favor' for my mother's friend, now both of them are calling wondering what is taking me so long : }

  • Missing data when exporting to "MS Word (*.doc)" and "RTF (*.rtf)"

    Hello,
We are using CR XI R2 SP3 in our product.  The reports that we generate (using ODBC dsn) show URLs from the database as hyper link text fields.  When we export the report to "Microsoft Word (.doc)" or "Rich Text Format (.rtf)" format, even though the export operation succeeds, the report is missing data when it encounters a URL that looks like following.  There is basically no data after that URL.
    http://www.xyz.com/kType=t;s.linkName=n;s.t()};s.ssl=(s.wd.location.protocol.toLowerCa
And when it encounters a URL like following, MS Word complains that the file is invalid even though the export succeeds.
    https://www.xyz.com/m));if(m%3E0&m!=e)if(parseInt(c.substring(m+1,e%3C0?c.length:e))%3Cd.get
If we export the report to pdf format, then everything works just fine.
Any help on this will be highly appreciated.

    Hi Sumit
Try to set the URL field with the RTF format. To do this try following:
    1. Right click the field->Format Field.
    2. Click the paragraph tab->Text Interpretation->RTF Text
    Now try to export it.
    Hope this helps.
