Bought new iPod (#5 in family)  but now not all music xfering that used to

Yep, purchased 5th iPod. However, some of the songs my daughter's purchased isn't showing up on mine or their iPod's, and we get the msg that I can't have more than 5 accounts. Okay, but what exactly does this mean? I don't have multiple names in my iTunes Music folder. Please tell me why this is a rule for people who don't try to steal music, and are there any exceptions since I spend my hard earned money and reward my family members with their own (not to mention 'word of mouth' promoting I do for Apple...) I have one pc at home. I did load my iTunes at work, but I don't really use it there, so I'll deauthorize it tomorrow. One other thing, I loaded my mom's iPod on my pc to start out, because she needed me to help her with it the day she bought it, and she lives 5 hours away, so who wouldn't help their mom? But, I've spent a lot of money on iTunes music, and I can't listen to some of it until this thing gets figured out... What up? And how can this get worked out to my satisfaction (please)?     I bought a new nano today because my mini broke a few days ago. (middle click button hasn't been working for a few months and the back button stopped working yesterday i got fed up and decided i needed a new toy lol) I have speakers for my mini. It came with attachments for the regular ipod and the mini. They are about a year old and I'm pretty sure it didn't come with nano attachments. The nano still works with the speakers, but whenever i press on a button on the nano it moves. It doesn't come out of place but I wonder is this bad for my nano? Since I didn't want to buy expensive apple speakers the attachment for that nano that came with my second generation doesn't fit.
    So does anyone know if putting my nano in the speakers is bad for it? Would you suggest i use my mini adapter for the speakers or just let it go without an adapter. Either way it doesn't fit but I wonder if one is better. Any help would be appreciated!

    As you have already discovered the iPod connectors align properly. The problem is that the Nano is not properly supported, and constant flexing (when you push the ClickWheel, causes strain on the iPod connector. The connector could break...and it will not be covered by the warranty.

    I just got my new macbook, like two days ago. With it, was ilife '11. I updated, everything was fine, uploaded fast actually.
    i went through my dock and checked, everything was up to day, when i got to iphoto a pop up with the finder face came up and said "In order to open iPhoto, you need to update the latest version. Please run Software Update to install it now."
    which i did, twice. everything but the iphoto works, which is a complete downer because id like to get my pictures off of my SD cards already........ please if anyone can help. First time mac user.
    It said "user friendly, operational right out of the box" so why is that one thing not working...

    "Transferring library" term is usually used with computers, If you still have old classic, you also should have computer that content came from. Once you connect your new classic to that computer- all your library will sync automatically (after registration). If you do not have computer, then it may present a bit of a problem, because as far as I know, Apple's way allows you to transfer only purchased in itunes store content - instructions in link below and you still going to need a computer. If you search these forums and Google, you will find multiple guides on using nonApple solutions. Please try to check references for those.

    If it's in a clear plastic case, and you see a black volume control on the left side, its a second generation. if it's in a John Lennon box, it's first gen.

  • My mac mini hard drive crashed. I replaced it but now not all applications work. How do I fix this?

    When my mac mini (late 2009) hard drive crashed I installed a new one. During the process I used migration assistant to bring in my time machine backup. When finished I did not have all applications...iPhoto, CC Cleaner, Chrome, and most importantly Reunion all failed to load. I have since manuay fixed Chrome and CC Cleaner but still do not have Renion or the OSX iPhoto and other apple OSX applications working. Can someone help or driect me to the right forum?

    Restore failed to provide all the applications and data. Took the mini to Apple genius today. They reinstalled OSX (same as I had done) then confirmed that the applications were not backed up to time machine...they will be in the future. After reloading each individual application they now work as expected and all the data seems to have been restored. Except the Reunion files which were near and dear. These are gone forever. Somehow, perhaps through my negligence, the 'GED' files were not stored in a "Reunion" folder and were not backed up...much like the apps. Now I'm trying to recover the files from the crashed drive.

    Why is 50GB of music gone?  All music should exist on the computer.  Only a fool would rely on a single device which could easily be lost or stolen to store their content on.

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. The cable as well as the iPod, is covered by the warranty.

    What version of iTunes is on the computer? You need at least 11.4.

    Maybe:
    Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
    Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
    Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

    Then try restoring on another computer.
    Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

    Periodically delete all apps from the recently-used bar (double clickHome button) and power off and then back on the iPod. With iOS 5, the iPod uses more memory (do not confuse with storage) and periodically you have to reclaim memory for use.

    This is a general comment, not directed to anyone, and not to be taken personally by anyone.  This ongoing screw up with the new upgrade (5.0.1) is getting to be a **** SHAME.  In no way can APPLE or anyone else for that matter not know by now that the upgrade is terribly flawed.  The Ipod machines themselves are super great products, and I enjoy mine to the max.  However the upgrade once applied ruins it.   And at least, not to my current knowledge,  there haven't been any fixes forcoming. 
       In my opinion Apple should own up to that fact and warn folks that, even though the upgrade was presented with the best intentions, IT JUST AIN"T WORKING.  And not to download it until further  notice. This noticication could be done through the retail sales outlet, online, what ever.
      I liken this to a pharmaceutical coming out with a new vaccine, encourage everyone to use it, then discover it's bad to the degree it causes it uses to become sick.  Rather then pull the vaccine they keep on allowing unsuspecting ones to continue to vaccinate, and become sick.  What a shame!

    The device is locked to Verizon wireless not a Russian cell provider.
    You can use Verizon here in the states. Get a Verizon Sim.
    In out of the country use, pop in that Sim and it should work. However Verizon does not unlock for use in the USA.
    And you must be a Verizon customer to get it unlocked to use in other countries. Apple claims it will work in other countries.

  • Bought a new Ipod touch and the WiFi does not connect.  Tried Reset and total Restore, does not connect to Router on DHCP, tried Static manually and still can not get it to connect even though it registers as connected.

    Bought a new Ipod touch and the WiFi does not connect.  Tried Reset and total Restore, does not connect to Router on DHCP, tried Static IP, Subnet, Router and DNS manually and still can not get it to connect even though it registers as connected.  Using Airport for router, latest firmware, no problems with Iphone 4 or Macbook Pro or any other internet devices.  After total Restore (factory settings) tried again, showed connected to router, but does not display "check" next to router but little rotating icon even though the wifi range signal shows connected at full strength and it says it is connected.  Just can't seem to get it to generate an IP.  Any solutions other than turning it on and off again?  Not a Merry Christmas morning.

    Ok, so, a couple of things:  Denisefromwaleska and I have the exact same size/type/color iPod.  Now wishing I'd bought the black one maybe...
    Second, Airport is an Express and I have a second one that I carry with me when I travel.  Tried to connect my Airport Express to the internet and could not although the iPod did recognize the router and tried to connect to the internet for some time, unlike my previous problem.  Updated firmware on my travel router, still could not connect to the internet.  Going to try to set up a manual Static IP on the travel router here in a few and conect through it although I predict the problem will persist. Back on the Christmas Present Airport Express router, it is back in play and working fine for all devices save the iPod. 
    Thanks again for all your help, hopefully I can get a solution in place soon,
