Boundary Group for site assignment, shall I add My "Management Point" as a "Site System Server" in "References"

Hi,
We have an flat singel site.
Boundary Group for site assignment, shall I add My "Management Point" as a "Site System Server" in "References"
/SaiTech

Yes - if it's also a DP?
The servers are added as content location servers for this boundary group. Only servers that have a distribution point or state migration point installed on them are available.

  • SCCM 2012 Boundary Group for Mac OS X managment

    Hi all,
I am wondering if I would need to setup a boundary group to manage mac OS X machines or I don't need one since they are connecting in as internet client? In the event if I don't needed and had one then are there any negative affects of having one?
    thanks

There certainly is no negative affect for having a boundary group when not needed.
As I recall, Internet based clients, as well as mobile devices, don't use boundary groups as they have a dedicated list of DPs to get content from.

  • Troubleshooting Management Point installation on site system

    Hello,
I am trying to install MP on site system, where DP and SMP are installed already. But installing of MP fails. In the Event Viewer on site system I see:
component SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER on computer SCCM.contoso.com reported:  Site Component Manager failed to reinstall this component on this site system.
I did not find mpsetup.log on site system, where is it stored? where is not such folders \program files\microsoft configuration manager or sms_ccm.

Start by looking in the sitecomp.log file on the Site Server. This should give you information about the MP component installation adn why it failed. Then have a look at the
mpsetup.log which you will find on the server where you added the MP. It will be in the
    <Driveletter>:\SMS\Logs folder

  • Need to understand Site Assignment and Content Location Boundary Groups

Okay I am very confused about something that I am seeing that is throwing my understanding of how Boundary Groups work completely off.
    Here is my dilemma:
I created two boundary groups, a site assignment and a content location boundary group. The site assignment boundary group contains all of my sites. The content location boundary group I have just has my datacenter systems where the DP installed on my site
server is being referenced in that boundary group.
Now, I had two pilot deployments. The very first pilot deployment I had I created a content location boundary group for that site and referenced the local DP and when I deployed software updates to the clients there, I kept getting timeout errors. The second
pilot deployment i had, I totally forgot to create a content location boundary group, but the software updates installed perfectly fine on those clients.
What the heck is going on here?
I thought if a content locatoin boundary group was NOT created for a remote site, then those clients would not be able to receive any content at all, period.
Can someone please, please explain to me what is going on here?
    Thanks everyone

A couple of additional comments here that build on the previous by Peter and Nick.
Site assignment has nothing to do clients finding content so while it's good that you have a site assignment boundary group and even that you mentioned it, it has nothing to do with what's going on here. Also as a semantic side note, when referring
to remote locations, you shouldn't use the word "site" when discussing ConfigMgr because "site" means something very specific and could cause confusion. I typically try to use the word "location".
Clients that do not fall into a boundary within a content location boundary group automatically fall into a "default" boundary marked as slow in a default "boundary group". Neither of these is defined anywhere in the console or the product
so default isn't exactly the right word here, but it does convey the meaning. Thus, not being in a defined boundary does not mean that clients cannot get content, just that they will only get content allowed for slow boundaries or where fallback is enabled.

  • Standalone Primary Site and Boundary Groups

Do I need to configure a Site Assignment Boundary Group for a Standalone Primary Site?
Unless I am reading this wrong, Torsten said no here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/4979ac47-593a-4490-9b48-b8f278f39cb7/we-are-in-the-process-of-migrating-from-2007-to-2012-r2-can-we-block-boundary-migration?forum=configmanagermigration
Does that also go for a Content Location Boundary group as well? Do I need to configure a Content Location Boundary Group in a Standalone Primary Site if all the site system roles are all on one server and there are no remote DPs or Secondary Sites?
    Thanks

There's no overlappings with other sites since there are no other sites.
So you're saying I can set up one, but it is not necessary for this scenario with a Standalone Primary Site?
If I don't set up one, but sometime down the road in the future if a Secondary Site is going to be configured somewhere, then I would need to setup one, so it would be best to do it now to get it out of the way, right?
    Danke, Torsten

  • TS Clients busting through Boundary Groups to place USMT Capture on remote SMP

I am having an issue with clients running a TS with USMT capture.  I have 66 SMPs in our Single Primary Site SCCM 2012 SP1. We have one Boundary Group that has 15 DP/SMP servers on it that represents locations that are connected by a 6GB fiber
ring. Then I have 51 other boundary groups that are smaller WAN connected locations, each boundary group has a DP/SMP server on site to accommodate clients at those locations.
I am using boundaries created by AD forest discovery.  I have 12 AD sites that I have in one boundary group called PS1 which is used for site assignment only there are no content servers listed for that BG.  The other boundary groups were created
using the IP range Boundaries that were created when AD Forest Discovery did its thing.
My issue is that Clients in the smaller sites don't seem to understand the Boundary Groups for SMP purposes.  I can see in the SMSTS log that the client sends a request to the MP for a list of available state migration points.  I can see the client
received 160338 byte response.  The list parses out and I can see a list of all the SMPs, the AD site for that server and one (not all) of the "subnets" associated with that SMP.   That there are subnets in the message is strange because
the boundaries are actually IP Ranges.   Also the list as I look at it in CMTrace is truncated and doesn't seem complete.
But instead of knowing which SMP to go to the Client seems to begin attempting to log into each SMP  until it finds one that it can get into then uses it.  I can see the client begin to download the USMT package from the correct DP while it prepares
to ignore the SMP located on that same server and go across 2 wan links to put the USMT capture on a machine that is clearly not in its boundary group.
I can paste logs here, but it might help to understand better the process of SMP selection.  Also some of the networks in AD sites and services are large class B networks like 10.173.0.0\16 but in reality the client computers at that site are being
subnetted into Class C networks.  Which might be an issue, but the boundaries created when AD Forest Discovery runs are setup as IP Ranges.
I have validated that each boundary created is in only one boundary group and each DP/SMP is only in one boundary group.
Anyone know how SMP selection really works?

    Hi!
Well, I turned off the WiFi physical switch, turned on the computer and then I did:
    sudo systemctl disable NetworkManager
    sudo systemctl disable dhcpcd
    sudo systemctl disable netctl
I'm not sure if that's enough.
Then I rebooted the machine, connected the ethernet cable, and:
    [me@there ~]$ sudo dhcpcd
    dhcpcd[520]: version 6.1.0 starting
dhcpcd[520]: no interfaces have a carrier
dhcpcd[520]: forced to background, child pid 639
I ping Google, and I could reach it, but I could not connect some other device. Then:
    [me@there ~]$ sudo dhcpcd -x
    dhcpcd[742]: sending signal 15 to pid 639
dhcpcd[742]: waiting por pid 693 to exit
    Again:
    [me@there ~]$ sudo dhcpcd
    dhcpcd[746]: version 6.1.0 starting
    dhcpcd[746]: wlp3s0: up_interface: Operation not possible due to RF-kill
    dhcpcd[746]: enp2s0: rebinding lease of 192.168.1.70
    dhcpcd[746]: wlp3s0: waiting for a carrier
dhcpcd[746]: no interfaces have a carrier
    dhcpcd[746]: enp2s0: soliciting a DHCP lease
    dhcpcd[746]: timed out
dhcpcd[746]: forced to background, child pid 868
And, just to be sure, ping returned "unknown host".
After a while, the router restarted.
I also looked for a newer firmware for my router, but I couldn't find one, nor the manufacturer home page.
And I have thought like that, fukawi2, ArchLinux is so Up-To-Date, other things may fail.
I can request a new router to my ISP, but I may encounter this issue again when I use my laptop somewhere else.

  • OSD Process not honoring Boundary Group Locations

    Hi All,
I'm in the process of introducing a PXE enabled DP into a new remote site (AUS). I've got the DP installed and PXE booting and I've created a new boundary group using the AD site for the remote location and added the on site DP to this.
Everything was working fine and the PXE boot worked correctly the boot.wim gets tftp'd. The client picks its policy from a MP back in the UK and that's working fine as well.
The weird bit that is driving me mad is when it downloads content it is getting both the UK and AUS DPs in the content location request and picking the UK ones!
I've checked my boundary groups and I have have one for the UK with the UK DPs in and the UK AD site. With another one that has the AUS AD site and the AUS DP in.
None of the DPs are set for Allow Fallback and this is driving me crazy!
    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

    Hi Peter,
I've check the IP address and it is getting what I would expect it to have (10.6.3.200) the AD site assigned to the boundary group for the remote DP is a 10.6.3.0/22 and I've also tried it with an IP range of 10.6.3.1-10.6.3.254
I've enabled verbose logging for the MP and looked at mp_location.log it shows the following:
Looking up AD site name for content location request.    MP_LocationManager    10/02/2015 20:00:56    534332 (0x8273C)
    Successfully mapped IP address 10.6.3.200 to AD site AUS    MP_LocationManager    10/02/2015 20:00:56    534332 (0x8273C)
however the reply with "MP_GetContentDPInfoProtected" contains servers that are not in that boundary group.
    MP_GetContentDPInfoProtected (UK500152,2,UK5,<ServerNameList><ServerName>SCCM2.domain.local</ServerName><ServerName>SCCM4.domain.local</ServerName><ServerName>SCCM-AUS.domain.local</ServerName></ServerNameList>,SMSPackage,00000000,,,<ClientLocationInfo
    AllowMulticast="1"><ADSite Name="AUS"/><IPAddresses><IPAddress Address="10.6.3.200" SubnetAddress="10.6.3.0"/></IPAddresses></ClientLocationInfo>)
I have noticed that someone has added a 10.6.0.0/16 to a different AD site a long time ago but that was never an issue with 2007 as the largest mask (the /22) would be used. Any idea if this is still the case in 2012?

  • New user creation in AE- user group not getting assigned

    Hi All,
Here is a typical case, wherein when we create a new user with AE for the production system, the user gets created and the roles are also assigned but the user group is not getting assigned. The user group is being fetched from a table from the backend and all that is working fine. Infact in order to test the configurations we even created a new user in the production instance of AE giving the development system as the target system for user creation and in this case the user was successfully created and the user group is also assigned. The problem is arising only when the target system is production system.
Connectors are all working fine, but we are unable to think of a reason. Can somebody help us on this?

    Hi Vani,
If you are provisioning the user group using user defaults, check  that production system is selected in the user defaults configured. Configuration -> user defaults. You can define any user default system, but for perticuticular user defaults that is applicable define all the systems, in which you want user defaults to be provisioned.
    Kind Regards,

  • SCCM 2012 R2 How to decide on boundary Groups ?

    Hi All
How to decide on boundary groups
here is a scenario in my environment , we have around 31 DPs we want the content to be available in all DPs and they all are in different Geogarphic locations , no matter what clients going to travel in different regions ,they want to download content from
nearest DP, so in this scenarion on what basis we should create boundary groups. according to my understanding we should create only one boundary group for all these 31 DPs and boundary.

hi Torsen thanks for the reply
here only problem is that , customer wants the content to be present in every DP ,so that moving users can get content from any of the DP,as per my understanding creating one bondary group for all 31DPs will serve this purpose,
please correct me if my understand is wrong. As here the case is that all boundary should be part of one boundary group , how client will decide whaich one is nearest DP or local DP.
    I am totally confused.

  • OBA4 FI tolerance groups for users - GL account

    Dear All,
May I know where is the gl account defined for the permitted payment differences? If in FBKP, then which group to define?
    Thanks

    Hi
Please use the below mentioned path to define tolerance groups for users and also refer to follow the below link
For normal price difference clearing use the Tcode:OBXL
    http://www.scribd.com/doc/51496069/17/Assign-User-Tolerance-Groups
for details please go through the below mentioned points
    SPRO>Financial Accounting>General Ledger Accounting>Business Transactions>Open Item Clearing>Clearing Differences>Define Tolerance Groups for G/L Accounts/Define Tolerance Groups for Employees
    Upper limit for posting procedure
    Maximum Amount Posted per Document
Maximum permitted posting amount per document for this user group.
The posting amount is the total of all debit items or, similarly, the total of all credit items.
Maximum Posting Amount per Line Item
Maximum posting amount permitted per customer or vendor item for this user group.
    Maximum Cash Discount Percentage Rate
Maximum cash discount percentage rate which may be assigned by an employee of the user group.
    Use
The percentage rate is checked during the entry, change and clearing of open items.
    Note
The restriction does not apply to automatically created line items, for example, during payment settlements.
    Permitted payment difference
    Maximum Payment Difference for Revenue
Payment differences to our advantage are allowed up to the amount entered here.
The amount always refers to the local currency. Payment differences up to the amount entered here are posted automatically by the system as increasing the profit. The system creates line items to show this.
    Note
In addition to the amount, you also enter a percentage rate in the Percent field. The lower limit is valid. If you only want to use absolute amounts or percentage specifications, then you must enter the maximum value in every other field.
Note that you define these limits for your customers/vendors and your employees. The lower limit is valid.
    Example
The local currency is USD. You have entered 30 USD in the Revenue field and 1 in the Percent field. For incoming payments up to 3000 USD, you accept an overpayment of a maximum of 1 percent. That means, amounts of 0 to a maximum of 30 USD are tolerated, depending on the incoming payment amount. For incoming payments over 3000 USD, you accept an overpayment of up to a maximum of 30 USD.
Maximum Allowable Revenues from Payment Differences
Differences when settling payments are accepted and posted automatically by the system up to the percentage rate entered here. The percentage rate is only valid if the difference is posted as a gain.
The percentage rate is used for the maximum of the debit and credit totals of the items to be cleared.
    Note
In addition to the percentage rate, you also enter an amount in the Revenue field. The lower limit is valid. If you only want to use absolute amounts or percentage specifications, you must enter the maximum value in every other field.
Note: You define these limits for your customer/vendor and your employees. The lower limit is valid.
    Example
The local currency is USD. You have entered 30 USD in the Revenue field and 1 in the Percent field. For incoming payments of up to 3000 USD, you accept an overpayment of a maximum of 1 percent. That means, amounts of 0 to a maximum of 30 USD are tolerated, depending on the incoming payment amount. For incoming payments over 3000 USD, you accept an overpayment of up to a maximum of 30 USD.
Maximum Discount Adjust. for Gain from Payment Differences
When clearing payments, any payment differences up to the amount specified here are corrected with the cash discount posting as long as the cash discount amount is large enough for the adjustment.  The value you specify here is used for differences that represent a gain.

  • No provisioning of User Group for authorization field in user master

We are implementing CUP 5.3 workflows. Both in manual proviosing and automated provisioning based on User Defaults the user group gets only provisioned to the Groups tab in SU01. The field User Group for authorization on the Logon data tab remains empty (field CLASS from system table USLOGOND, filling CLASS field in table USR02).
In User defaults both under user default as on the user group tab the user groups have been defined. In manual provisioning the correct list of user groups get displayed for selection.
Under field mapping in the Application field I only find User Group in user master maintenance, but not User group for authorization. However I would assume I do not need to use field mapping, as I want to automate this provisioning based on user defaults.
Am I missing a configuration setting here? If so, where can I set it?
I would assume the provisioning of this field is possible. RAR reports the user group also based on the User group for auhtorization and not from the Groups tab.

    S.Pados,
I can assure you that what I said in my last response does provision the User Group For Authorization Check on the Logon Data tab; in fact, I was having the opposite issue where the Group tab was not being provisioned; however, I am ruunning AE 5.2 and you said you are running 5.3; maybe something did change or got lost in the releases; it probably is good to see what SAP has to say about this; I would hate to lose this capapbility when I upgrade to AE 5.3
    As far as using the custom field for multiple applications, would that field not be usable for any of the applications you would select in the request form?; if you are using the same table names in the different SAP systems (selectable by the application field on the request) would the drop down selections be whatever the table has defined for that system? I may not be understanding something here so I am just asking;
It would be great to have a Group field automatically filled in by another selection to avoid the user involvement; I agree with you there; because of our concerns on users entering the AE request, our shop has decided to continue with the users submitting the request through normal email and the security administrators perform the AE entering; this way we have a better idea on something like the GROUP field; we have an option to include the original email as an attachment for justification of the request
Sorry I could not be of more help

  • Tolerance group for G/L

    Hi,
Can anyone suggest me where can we find the tolerance group for g/l a/cs? If possible can you put the IMG path in return plz.
    Reg,
    Sridhar.

    Hi,
call up SPRO and then go to:
    Financial Accounting
    --> General Ledger Accounting
    --> Business Transactions
    --> Open Item Clearing
    --> Clearing Differences
---> Define Tolerance Groups for G/L Accounts
You could have executed a text search, the system would have proposed the relevant link in the IMG.
    Hope this helps,

  • Uninstall and Reinstall Secondary Site Management Point Role

    Dear Brothers,
I have an issue with one of my SCCM 2012 Sp1 with CU3 Secondary Site Server which the client failed to install on the actual server due to a client issue observed in the CCMSetup.log.
    Observation Regarding the issue:
    Issue Detail No1.
SCCM Client is not installing to my Secondary Site Server with site code (XYZ), after all the site server are also clients in SCCM hierarchy so it self needs SCCM Client as well.
    CCMSetup.log:
"Error 25150. Setup was unable to register the CCM_Service_HostingConfiguration endpoint" when you try to install the client agent in Configuration Manager"
    According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2905359
    the solution is to :
    1. Uninstall the management point role.
    2. Reinstall the client agent on the management point computer.
    3. Reinstall the management point role.
    Issue Detail No 2.
When I am trying to uninstall the Management Point Role via SCCM Console as part of the solution posted on the above KB Article, unfortunately the delete or uninstall option is been greyed out.
Now a lot of discussion on the topic "Can not remove management point role is greyed out "under this thread
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/1a039893-4a65-4dc9-9feb-e6f09ea1fc0b/can-not-remove-management-point-remove-role-is-greyd-out?forum=configmanagerdeployment
However on the last comment of the above thread from"Trana010"
stated a tool or a command
    C:\program files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\bin\x64\rolesetup.exe /deinstall /siteserver:(sec server name) SMSMP
    0
Which I never tried yet, and also cannot find a reliable KB supporting the command "rolesetup.exe".
    Questions:
    1. What is the best way to uninstall/Reinstall the management point on secondary site considering the above issue details?
    2. Should I installed CU4 directly instead? Maybe it will resolved the issue even though it is not related to the current case
    Regards,

Well, it's by design that you can't remove a management point on a secondary site, so I can imagine that that's why there is nothing "official" written on that subject. I think there are three things you can do:
Try to run the command line (which is probably unsupported)
    Submit a CSS call
Upgrade to CU4 and assume the problem is gone.
    My Blog: http://www.petervanderwoude.nl/
    Follow me on twitter: pvanderwoude
    Dear Peter,
I end up shooting a case with CSS, he guided me and share that this issue is very common.
The reason is that it requires CU3 upgrade (Configmgr2012ac-sp1-kb2882125-x64.msp) to be installed with the SCCM Client installation (The same time) via command line in an elevated permission.
Follow the solution provided by Microsoft Support:
    CCMSetup.exe /forceinstall SMSSITECODE=XYZ CCMENABLELOGGING=TRUE CCMLOGLEVEL=0 PATCH=C:\Configmgr2012ac-sp1-kb2882125-x64.msp
It seems the Client Push provided by SCCM 2012 Sp1 Infra, that includes your Hotfix under the "Hotfix" folder under the client source folder somehow doesn't work with this issue, that's why the work around is to help the ccmsetup to grab the Hotfix with
by providing the path for the hotfix instead of relying to take the hotfix for the hotfix folder.
Overall peter thanks for your suggestion. And also to Mr. Jason Sandys opening the option for an R2 upgrade, I will look into the KB for this to plan for implementation.
