BPC 10.0 NW - skipping in hierarchy upload

Hej Gurus
I have a question regarding automatic upload of a hierarchy from BW into BPC. We have a hierarchy with all costcenters including both active and inactive costcenters, and these costcenters are spread out through the hierarchy.
In BPC, we only need the active costcenters, but the inactive is needed in other applications, so it is not possible to change the hierarchy.
Is it possible to do a skip based on a BW attribute, when importing a hierarchy or is it possible to make it only look at costcenters in BPC?
Alternatively, is it possible to pick up the parent in the master data attribute/text from BW process chain? In this it is possible to skip based on an attribute.

Hi Mikkel,
As suggested by Gersh, you have to consider that point.
Coming to the you problem you can crated additional hierarchy for BPC to existing info object by considering only active CCs with the help of ABAP. You can also automate this hierarchy creation.
While loading master data you can load only active CC by selecting option "Set filters by attribute AND hierarchy" and while loading hierarchy select custom hierarchy created for BPC. This approach will not affect your existing development and no need to create z object as well as no need to add in to cube.

Issue with Skip Level Hierarchy in OBIEE 11g

I have implemented Ragged and Skip Level Hierarchy as explained in the links below in OBIEE 11g RPD.
(checked the 'Ragged' and 'Skipped Levels' check boxes)

When the Presentation Hierarchy is dragged in the OBI Answers, the leaf level beyond the skip (null) levels is not shown in the report.
When any level finds intermediate null values, OBIEE is failing to show the existing value of the leaf level (Most Granular Level) or any values after Skipped Levels.
For example, following is the values in database for different levels of department hierarchy.
A -> B -> C -> Null -> Null -> F
The OBIEE Presentation Hierarchy can only drill down till C, not beyond that. (does not show the leaf level value 'F').
Could you please suggest whether I am missing any step?

Hi, My problem is that in my report it is showing me that levels as -- A -> B -> C -> Null -> Null -> F, however I want to show data as A -> B -> C -> F, i.e the null valus(columns) should be skipped. Please help.

OBIEE 10g - Ragged & Skip Level Hierarchy

Hi Frnds,
I'm aware of the fact that OBIEE 11g supports Ragged & Skip Level Hierarchy. But I'm looking for some heads up while implementing the same on OBIEE 10g using Oracle DB as source. I have done this before for Essbase Data Source but now waiting for my Oracle dataset for design.
Has anyone actually implemented in Real Time Project? Pls share your challenges like:
- Dimensional Hierarchies Challenges
- Drill Down Challenges
- Report Challenges

10g does not handle the idea of Skip hierarchies and the ragged hierarchies definitely has its limitations.
We've implemented several projects using Essbase and SAP BW for Oracle BI 10g. The biggest issue is that in Answers creates a new column for each drill down selection when attempting to navigate down a hierarchy. Though this is klugy it does work and provides the data the user is looking for. It is however, not aesthetically please when compared to other tools or now Oracle BI 11g which satisfies this issue with a native drill-down tree folder structure.
My opinion and advice would be to upgrade to 11g as soon as possible to enjoy these new features.

Ragged Hierarchy and Skip Level Hierarchy

I am confused with ragged and skip level hierarchy, as i read some documents related to obiee 11g.
Will you please explain with an example the difference between ragged hierarchy and skip level hierarchy and also when to use these hierarchies?

OBIEE Essbase skip-level hierarchy

Is it possible to setup OBIEE and Essbase to be able to model skip-level hierarchy? It is obvious with connection to the relational database. How the essbase should designed and populated with data to faciliate this type of hierarchy?

BPC 7.5NW: Hierarchy Upload from BW - Sort Order

Hi,
we are currently updating from BPC 7.0NW to 7.5 NW SP10. (BW has been upgraded to 7.02 SP09)
As master data and hierarchies had been uploaded using the coding from 'HowTo Upload automated...' so far, we now have to use standard Data Manger packages.
Maintaining packages and package links was successful. Everything works fine so far.
The only problem are Hierarchies, better the sort order of hierarchie nodes. At the moment they are always sorted in an alphabetical order.
We introduced property MBR_SEQ to all dimension using program UJA_MIGRATE_MBR_SEQ.
We loaded hierarchies with different settings.
Searching SDN and SAP Notes lead to notes 1603352 or 1581331.
But manually changing hierarchies each time, new members are assigned, is not an option!
Do I miss any option in the selection screen of the Data Manager package?
Are there any options in transformation or conversion file?

For your Information...
We were now adviced to include parameter DM_KEEP_SRC_SEQ with value Y in AppSet parameters (Web-Administration).
Please have a look at note '1626929 - Keep hierarchy sequence for Load Hierarchy from BW package'.
It works!
For the first hierarchy to be uploaded...
If there are more than one hierarchy defined for upload, only the first hierarchy is sorted correctly, all following ones are sorted alphabetically again.

GL Account Hierarchy upload error

I'm persistently getting the following error while uploading hierary into GL Account. 0GL_ACCOUNT_T011_HIER.
Error:
"Record 105 :InfoObject GL_ACCOUNT contains non-alpha compliant value 1000"
in the transfer rules for hierarchy datasource, i tried to activate conversion on infoobject 0HIENM but this is a technical content object and does not allow changes.
Please help...

did you check if 0HIENM is active? You can search the techincal InfoObject in
RSA1 -> MetadataRepository. If it is not there go to BI Content (RSA1) open InfoObjects and search for "0HIENM" and bring it to active version (if it is already active it will show a green light).

Merchandise category & hierarchy upload using LSMW???

I am trying to upload Merchandise category and hierarcy using LSMW (BAPI/IDOC method only).
For merhcandise category
I used message type W_WGRP and it is helping me in changing or reclassification of articles. But I am not able to create new merchandise category with this. I used structure E1BPE1WGR01 with "function" field with value "005, LSMW is working fine idocs are created successfully but no new Merc Cat is created.
When I used same structure with "function" field with value "009" I get error message "Class XXX does not exist or or is not valid on this date".
For Merchandise Catrgory Hierarchy
I used idoc CLSMAS but getting error message "Keyword missing for class XXX"
has anybody uploded entire hierarchy structure using LSMW ?

Sorry to say, but your problem is not resolved.
In IS-Retail, a merchandise category must first be created as a class (CLSMAS) and then also as a merchandise category (W_WGRP). Yes, you must process two IDoc per merchandise category, and in that order.
To understand how to load data using LSMW, the best approach to watch what the system does naturally. In this case, use T-Code WGSE to send the merchandise category hierarchy via ALE from one system-client to another. For understanding, you needn't configure the entire ALE scenario, just the outbound portion. Then watch the outbound IDocs be created; there's your example!
For merchandise category hierarchy (including merchandise categories), there are four message types that will be sent: W_WGRP, CHRMAS, CLFMAS, and CLSMAS.
IDoc Serialization using message types (serialization groups) is used when several different message types are dependent on each other, as is the case here. For example, if a merchandise category is assigned to a merchandise category hierarchy level, the merchandise category hierarchy level must first exist. How you use LSMW and IDocs is informed by the sequence.
To understand the IDoc sequence for creating the merchandise category hierarchy (including merchandise categories), use T-Code BD44 to view the Serialization Group GRP_W_WGRP includes the 4 desired message types in sequence:
CHRMAS04 Distr. of Characteristics with Dependencies and Long Texts
CLFMAS02 Master object classification
CLSMAS04 Classes with Long Texts, Document Links, and E1UPSLINK
W_WGRP01 Distribution of material groups
CHRMAS04 is only relevant of Characteristics are being assigned to merchandise categories. Let us leave Characteristics aside for now.
Step 1: Create Merchandise Category Hierarchy Nodes
Step 2: Merchandise Categories - Create as a Class
Step 3: Merchandise Categories - Change as a Retail MC
Step 4: Merchandise Categories - Assign Category Hierarchy Nodes each other, and assign MC class to MCH node.
For this, use these messages:
Step 1: CLSMAS04
Step 2: CLSMAS04
Step 3: W_WGRP01
Step 4: CLFMAS02

Design a dimension with skip-level hierarchy and its ETL

Hi gurus,
I'm trying to understand how to set up and use a skip level dimension and its corresponding mapping in OWB 11.2.
A simplified version of my hierarchy would be like Total-Brand-LOB-Product where Some Products connect directly to Brand and others connect to LOB.
My first question is about designing this kind of dimension in OWB. Is it better to create a single hierarchy with the Product level skipped to Brand level or 2 hierarchies - one Total-Brand-LOB-Product and the other Total-Brand-Product?
My second question is about creating its corresponding ETL mapping. Selecting each option above result in 2 FKs for Brand and LOB in Product level. What is the correct design to fill these 2 FKs?
Any help/guidance would be truly appreciated!

Hierarchy upload-InfoPackage-Hierarchy Selection tab

I have to upload hierarchy for Internal Order. I have InforPackage but on the Hierarchy Selection tab there is no hierarchy that I am supposed to upload (it's called A1). Do I have to extract the missing hierarchy from R/3? Can someone please provide the steps that should be taken?
It's very urgent as I have to finish it today (well, the deadline is the end of this weekend).

Is ur infosource is properly assigned to the Hierarchy Data source or not!!!!
If not then u need to check the proper data source(From R3) which needs to be used for ur loading.... based on that..
If the DS is available in R3 then replicate the same and assign to ur Infosource..and maintain the proper TS and TR accordingly with the Idocs transfer method..
once this is done then u can able to see the required hierarchy for ur purpose..
make sure that the Hierarchy is available from ur source system.. then only it will be available in the IP selection tab.

Skip file when uploading entire site

Is there a way to skip one file or more during uploading? Say I am uploading the entire site and when I come to a big video file I'd like to skip this file...

Skipping lines whle uploading data through SQLLDR

1. Is it possible to skip a record (entire line) having particular string.
2. Also the data file often contains extra new line character at the end. SQLLDR fails at the last line. Is it possible to make SQLLDR skip the new line at the end of file.

BPC 7.5.06 NW Dyanamic Hierarchy Editor in BPF

Hi All,
In the Consolidation BPF under the Define Actions Tab the Action Name called Manage Ownership Data, I have selected Action Detail like Interface as (Interface for Execl) and Task as (Manage Dynamic Hierarchies) and selected the application as Ownership. After saving this action or the step or BPF it is picking the other application in the place of Ownership. I have maintained controlling application as LEGAL. Please help me to solve this issue ?

Hello All,
i want to load the customer defined hierarchies that are available in R/3 Controlling component into BW. The hierarchies can be viewed using the transaction 'KKRS' in R/3.
How do i generate a datasource for these hierarchies ?

it depends on your PlugIn Release. As of PlugIn 2004.01 you should find the functionality in the system. Prior to this PlugIn, you have to use the HowTo paper.
